anonymous asked:

Can I request platonic Tails and Amy? I can't think of a good scenario but something where someone is trying to mess with Amy and Tails is like, "who do you think you are talking to my big sister like that?" And it's just cute and protective? Thank you!

This may be a strange request but I think you can write something cool with this: Tails curious about Sonic and Amy bluntly asks if he doesn't like Amy's advances why he doesn't tell her to cut it out? Sonic trusting Tails confesses that he doesn't actually mind he's just not ready for the commitment right now. He know's Amy is the girl for him she's the only one who could keep up and handle his quirks but he's fine with what they have now. It's "Inevitable" they'll get together but not now

These are a favorite of mine, not because Tails is my favorite (though that's a big part of it) but also because Sonic and Tails being bros and talking about girls... I love writing men talking about their crushes or feelings concerning girls to each other in my stories, it's just... really fun xD

The two star-crossed friends laughed and laughed, talking about their adventures after meeting one another and drinking hot coco on a bright summer's day.

"Why the sudden taste for warm chocolate, Tails?" Sonic absentmindedly asked as Tails just shrugged, smiling from ear to ear.

"I needed something sweet." he took a sip, then stuck out his tongue in distaste, "Ugh..! What I meant was bitter..!" he laughed, pouring in some more ingredients like sweet milk to try and balance the 'menu' out. "You ever get a whimsical want like that?"

"Hmm..." Sonic looked at the marshmellows in his drink... "Don't know." he took another sip, then smirked at the bitterness. "Ahhh, that really is bad!" he laughed, holding out his cup as Tails offered him some more sweeter.

"In all honesty... it is a breezy day." Tails felt the chill of the cold wind, though the sun was shinging with some clouds here and there, it didn't really feel like summer weather.

"Yeah... I know what you mean." Sonic placed a hand down beside himself as he relaxed on the grassy hill just outside Tails's workshop... "It makes me think of Amy." he admitted.

Tails almost spit out his drink, "Woah! You know something? I sort of... just knew you would say that."

Sonic's surprise matched Tails's expression, "You did?"

"Em-hmm." Tails took another long sip, "Ahh~ Much better, evenly balanced." he nodded to the correction of his milky drink and licked his lips. "Lately, you and Amy have been saying the same things... Just yesterday, Amy said that a cold breeze with a warm air reminded her of you."

"Heh, you two hang out that much?" Sonic put the hand with the drink up on his knee, smiling to Tails.

"I could ask you the same thing." Tails peeked up from his drink to look at Sonic, who looked away with a bit of an awkward avoidance.

"Heh..." Sonic scratched his nose, shyly.

"... Hey... you know..." Tails lowered the drink, looking at the bobbing marshmellows within it... putting two hands to the mug. "... If you really didn't like Amy... wouldn't you have done and said things differently..? To avoid her?"

Sonic looked down a moment... his smile turning more netural as his eyelids lowered... "Would I have..? Ahh~" he seemed to avoid the topic by laying back, putting his drink down, and just resting in the beautiful, but cold day.

"Hmm... I know you're not a cold wind," Tails put the drink down, too, "And Amy's my friend, too, so I have to admit, I'm a little curious." He scratched behind his head, chuckling at the fact that he wasn't going to drop the conversation for Sonic's comfort. "You don't have to say much... but it'd be nice to answer her with something reassuring."

"What? Like there's not something?" Sonic raised an eyebrow to him.

"No, no, no!" Tails shook out his hands towards Sonic, realizing he may have insulted him by accident. "That's not what I meant at all!" he nervously sweatdropped a bit and tried to look up to the sky, putting his words together, "More like... 'It's okay, Amy! He'll be there for you, Sonic always makes time for his friends!' kinda thing..." He thought outloud, "Cause... I can't make promises for you... So... it'd be nice to know how you thought about her... I know she's our friend, but..." He looked down, "I worried... she's lonely."

"... Yeah, me too." Sonic leaned back up as Tails looked over to him.

There was some time of silence, as Sonic scratched the back of his head as though guilty of knowing that, and Tails puffed up a cheek, "If you know, then you should clearly tell her what you really feel." He took up his mug again, chugging it down, "Ahh~ I can't always be the messenger, Sonic!"

Sonic chuckled lightly at that, "I know that, too... It's not like I... I..." Sonic seemed to be struggling with the words, so Tails waited patiently.

"... You don't want to say it?" he looked into Sonic's eyes, bending a bit down to see it.

Sonic closed his eyes and lowered his head into a quiet nod, reserved as usual.

Tails backed down, relenting to his request and looking back at the sky as clouds rolled over the sun. "... You're not cold, Sonic." He stated more bluntly than before, his blue eyes shining with admiration for his hero, though not looking directly at him. "Amy sees it, too."

Sonic suddenly began to rub the space between his eyes.

"... I know she's the one, Tails."

Tails's whole body suddenly tensed up as though electified, he wasn't expecting such a declaration like that..! "W-Whaaa!?" He kicked up his feet and tried to move his arms up to keep him from rolling down the hill, jumping up to his flailing feet and jumping back and forth on them before looking down at Sonic.

"You... You said... HUUUHH?" Tails was acting rather cute as a friend who just heard the first confession of Sonic's real feelings towards Amy. "I honestly just thought you didn't want to hurt her by saying you only had some feelings, I didn't know it was like THAT much!" Tails's huge mouth as he spoke made Sonic lean back a second but smile politely, chuckling out of awkwardness but then nodding to Tails.

"It's just that I don't want her to know it from me,... not just yet." He looked back over the landscape, as Tails was still locked in his head about how shocking this all was.

"Woah... no kidding... I don't think anyone would know unless you say it like that!" He blurted out, his eyes shrunken and shaking at the new reveal, before wobbling and falling back to the ground. "Good Chaos..." he collasped as Sonic just awkwardly smiled at his exaggerated antics.

"Come on, buddy. It's not like I hide it well..."

"YOU HIDE IT SO WELL!" Tails leapt his upperbody back up to wag his arms around Sonic's head, amazed he wouldn't know that. "Even me and my Sis couldn't tell!"

"... Your-?" Sonic tilted his head, narrowing his eyes a second, before slowly raising them up as he realized what Tails just confessed as well. "Sis?"

Tails's face paused... then slowly rose up in pink, to red, to then exploding with a puff of cartoony smoke as he shook his arms out to Sonic again, "Na-ha-ha-not like that! I meant-! A-Amy's just my-! Ohh..." He deflated a little and took his hot drink, letting the mist of steam move around his forehead. "Okay, you got me. I never really had family before... so I sometimes... consider you all like my family..."

"Ehh... Your brother and sister..?"

"N-NO! It's not weird like that!" He realized Sonic was hinting at Tails encouraging his 'brother and sister' to admit feelings and shook his head quickly to avoid such a topic. "I meant it like a platonic, figuritive thing!"

Sonic smiled, ruffling Tails's head with his hand. "I got'cha, buddy. I can consider us all family, too."

Tails sighed in relief... before his eyes bludged with the previous conversation. "You... you really like Amy back, then..? J-Just as much..?" He lightly moved back in hestiant revolt if Sonic admitted to THAT extremity...

"Hahah! Maybe not as much as she'd like me to express... but I do think she's the sweet milk to my bitter chocolate." Sonic looked for his mug and pulled it up to, smiling to it before taking a longer sip. "She... just sweetens me... You know?" he turned to Tails and wrapped an arm around him. "Just a little different than your marshmellows in my drink."

Tails laughed, "What? I add a 'fluffy' flavor to it?" The two laughed as Tails wagged his twin set of his namesake.

"Yeah, something like that." Sonic lightly grabbed and shook his shoulder on the other side, then let him go to take another sip.

Tails chuckled before leaning in curiously, his face making Sonic nervous as he decided to keep slurping the drink to avoid whatever Tails was gonna mischeviously ask him next.

"... So you like her... but not to the extremity she shows... Hmm..." he put a finger to his chin, narrowing his eyes.

"... Don't want to spoil the ending." Sonic tried to tease him off of asking for more but Tails just leaned up against him and folded his arms, wagging his tails in a smug way.

"To be fair, I did get you to admit you may actually marry her." he then grinned to Sonic, "Not that I'd ruin the surprise for her!"

Sonic rolled his eyes as Tails continued to tease lightly.

"I'm just... fine with what we are now." Sonic lowered the drink, "That's all."

"Like, how you're fine just having your hot coco outside of winter?" He raised his mug up, and Sonic happily clanked it with his.

"Exactly."

"In the middle of the day?"

"Any day I feel like having hot coco, I suppose."

"Hmm... do you get those days often?" Tails raised an eyebrow at how much Sonic might actually like seeing Amy... hinting at something more as he gave a goofy lick of his cup as though wanting more of the 'tea' from Sonic, but Sonic just nudged him away.

"Alright, that's enough girl talk, pal."

"Ahhh! I was just getting to the good, chocolately center stuff!" Tails joked, "You've already committed to the conversation! Now you have to tell me mooorreee..!" Tails leaned like an annoying little brother closer to Sonic's shoulder who kept trying to lift his foot up and push Tails further away.

"Watch it, bro, or you'll not get another chance to!" Sonic narrowed one eyebrow but raised the other, warning him to just accept what he got so far.

They just laughed together, but Tails looked up to the sky and lightly blew on his warm beverage. "... So what do I tell her, then?" He asked.

"Hmm?" Sonic took another sip as well, enjoying the warmth, flavor, and just living in the moment of it.

"... That you're just... taking your time?" He looked worriedly to Sonic, "You know she'll never accept that." He tilted his head as though it was hopeless to try.

"Emm... that's why I don't tell her much." He winked to Tails, "Keeps it interesting... and like you said... she knows." he closed his eyes, finishing the drink down, and holding out his tongue for the last drops.

"... Yeaahhh... but does she really knnooowww." Tails kept fishing for it, but Sonic just shook his head at Tails's constant pushing.

"You really are a good brother to her, Tails!" He got up, but just before straightening his legs up, he ruffled his head again. "And a good lil bro to me."

Through one side of Sonic's hand over his eye, Tails looked up with a lowering of one ear, seeing Sonic look to him with a fondness that could only be described as brotherly love.

He probably never said anything like that to anyone... and it filled Tails's heart with glee to know that both his friends were trusting him with something deep in their hearts... Amy's loneliness... and Sonic's secret confession.

When Sonic took off, Tails just sat in content joy... he had two amazing friends, who both liked each other, one was just taking his time a bit is all.

And that was okay... cause he'll make sure she's okay... and Tails will make sure their both okay.

He took the last sip of his drink and then wiped his mouth with his arm, suddenly smirking at the matchmaking ideas from shows he's seen on TV.
