Kaiju Containment
"I think my ears just popped." Sam finally said when the roars died down, uncovering her ears. All the agents were starting to recover from the three massive roars that deafened the containment room.
"That was awesome!" Martin and Alex said at the same time.
"Maybe I'd enjoy this more if they didn't do that!"
"These three Kaiju are going to be part of a larger group that will protect you with their lives. They are your guardians. Sadly, we are lacking in other critical members. Members that you will go and find. With that in mind, and speaking of minds, Ms. Saegusa has decided to mentally pair you all with these three Kaiju, and any other Kaiju you find. Ms. Saegusa?" Nick explained the monsters' roles and their mission. Miki then stepped forward, hands to her head, eyes closed, and selectively chose each pairing based on what her psychics chose.
"Ms. Simpson, step forward." Sam took some tentative steps forward to Miki.
"Now, stand still." Focusing her psychics, Miki studied the personality of Sam, and compared them to the three Kaiju in the room. A single grunt was heard. Everyone looked for the source, finding it with Kong.
Martin smirked mischievously, and looked between Sam and Kong. "Wow. You're into apes huh?" His check all of sudden stung painfully.
Diana smiled approvingly at Sam. "Finally! Someone with common sense!" Only for both girls to find rifle barrels staring at them. Nick put his in a placating gesture. "Stand down gentlemen." He then smirked. "This is comedy gold."
"Ms. Ewing, you're up next. Step forward." Clover eagerly stepped up. "Who am I gonna be with?!" Amused, Miki pressed her hands to her head, and closed her eyes. A few chirps came from the light cyan egg on the pedestal in the back, and Mothra hatched, first as a writhing larva form, and then immediately webbed herself.
Confused, Nick remarked, "Y'know, I've seen a lot of moths go to metamorphosis, but not just after hatching."
"It is because of how dire our situation is, Mr. Tatopoulos. Mothra senses both Destroyah and Ghidorah, and is speeding up her growth cycle in response to help defend humanity." As soon as Miki finished her explanation. The web slid off, revealing a massive and beautiful butterfly moth hybrid form. Mothra's wingspan then spread and glowed brightly, and she bent down toward Clover, and chirped a few times.
"She's pretty!"
"I forgot how much you love butterflies, Clover!" Alex exclaimed, beaming at her friend. "Now I get to ride one of my favorite animals!"
"If only I had that kind of praise…" Martin remorsed, rubbing his burning cheek.
"Jet Jaguar. Step forward, and choose your charge." The robot, Jet Jaguar, stepped up, but did not stop until he was facing Billy.
"Huh. Just like home."
"Nice man!" Martin, having healed, gave Billy a high five, a fist bump, and the two s touched finger tips. Their secret handshake.
"Alright, people, listen up! This is a start, but this alone won't stop Ghidorah or Destroyah. We need more muscle, and that monster muscle is out there."
"Where do we start, boss?" Martin asked.
All Nick did was smirk.
Manhattan, 7:30 P.M.
It was a dark and stormy night on the streets of Manhattan. The group had landed at Floyd Bennett Airport, and had not even taken two steps before they had to put on their raincoats. Needless to say, they were all miserable. "I'm not sure whether the rain tonight is a good thing or an omen. It reminds me too much of what happened 16 years ago."
"It could be either, Mr. Tatopoulos." Britney commented.
The group piled into a series of Humvees requisitioned by the New York National Guard, and made their way to Madison Square Garden. Nick doubts they'll find a monster there, but they can find a trail at least. They are only going there because of unusual fish-like smells coming from underneath. MONARCH high command dispatched the group to make sure that they do a thorough sweep of the complex.
The ride was slow because of how slick the roads are. When they arrived, the first thing they noticed upon exiting the vehicles was the putrid stench of fish. Clover wanted to puke. "Ewww! Who thinks this is a fishery?! Now I'll have to shower twice as long to get this smell out of my hair!"
Before anyone could make a snarky response, they hear chewing of flesh and bone from inside the amphitheater. Everyone's blood ran cold. The soldiers' escorting group clicked their safeties off.
Suddenly, the ground beneath them shook. Cracks appeared in a series of potholes outside the theater. Then, the road split, and a claw grasped the rim of the newly formed hole. The claw led to a bipedal reptile resembling an iguana, but with the structure of a theropod. A creature that Nick instantly recognized, but wanted to not believe.
"Nick, you know that thing?" Sam asked, concerned for their new boss.
"Yeah. Me and my group before MONARCH, a group known as HEAT, worked with this creature. We called it Godzilla because we couldn't think of any other name."
Miki shot Nick a sharp look. "With all due respect mr. Tatopoulos, this is not Godzilla. I know Godzilla. Me, my lover Koji, and Godzilla all have a… special mental connection. Still, we shall call this Zilla. Martin Mystery, can you approach?"
Martin approached, confused as to why his name was called. "Why me?"
"Because you were the first face that this being saw. You have been imprinted onto Zilla. Now, Zilla will follow you and guard you."
Zilla stepped out of the hole and sniffed its new master. Recognizing Martin as it's new master, it grunted, and licked Martin's face, lifting him off the ground.
"Wahhhh!" Diana had to stifle a laugh at the scene. Still giggling, Diana remarked "I think he likes you Martin."
Rather than being embarrassed, Martin seemed excited. Beaming with glee, Martin grinned. "This is a dream come true! I have a pet Monster!"
Meanwhile
A shadowy figure stood before a series of monitors. Camera footage shows what the group found in Manhattan.
"So. They found Zilla, and are preparing to stop Destroyah and Ghidorah. So they think. This is only a fraction of what we are to accomplish. All they can do is delay the inevitable."
