It was finally the end of Kuvira's suicide watch. Her vitals were normal and she would still be given her pain meds while she was in her cell for a few more days.

Kuvira had showered and gotten dressed in her prison uniform. "Ready to see your new cell?" Lin asked as she entered the room to escort Kuvira to the van that would be taking her to her new location.

Kuvira nodded. Kuvira walked down the long hallway and out into the general population. There she saw the other prisoners for the first time since she had been locked up.

The prisoners started pounding on the jail cell. "Look who it is. The Great Uniter," a female prisoner mocked.

"Come over here and face me you murderous bitch! You killed my family," Kuvira tensed in Lin's hold. "It's okay. Just keep your head down."

Kuvira kept her head down as Lin said while she continued to endure jeering and verbal assaults from the other prisoners.

Kuvira lifted her head just as she was able to see the sunlight from outside. She turned her head to the last cell where she saw a woman about her age, looking at her with sadness in her eyes and a solemn expression.

Kuvira didn't know this woman but the way this woman was looking at her, it was clear this woman knew her. The way the woman was looking at her made her heartbreak.

Kuvira turned away as she stepped out into the warm summer sun. The light felt good on her skin, something she once got all the time seemed like such a privilege now.

She had to squint a few times to get used to the bright light shining in her face. "Don't tell me a year has turned you into a vampire," Lin said with a chuckle.

Kuvira climbed into the van next to Lin. She turned and gave one last look at the prison that was the bane of her existence for a year.

She felt tears well up in her eyes as the vehicle pulled onto the road and drove off.

"Hey kid. You alright?" Lin asked Kuvira, with a concerned look on her face. "Yeah. I'm fine," Kuvira said, holding back tears.

Kuvira enjoyed seeing the trees and the mountains and the warm summer sun. She couldn't believe she hadn't been outside in a year.

She rested against the seat as she enjoyed the drive to the new prison.

•••••••••

The new prison was just outside of Republic City. This one was called Raikers which was named after President Raiko.

It was more modern and less harsh than the Republic City prison.

"Welcome home," Lin said as the driver came around and opened the door for her and Kuvira.

"Will I um- will I have to pass the other prisoners?" Kuvira hated how weak she sounded.

"No. Your cell is underground. It's still in solitary confinement but this one will be more accommodating."

Kuvira nodded and visibly relaxed. After what she had endured a few minutes ago at the Republic City Prison, she knew she couldn't handle that again.

Kuvira walked to the platinum door with Lin and two guards in tow as they walked down the dark hallway to the end where her new cell was located.

This cell was green and gray. Zaofu colours. It was almost as big as her flat back in Zaofu. She even had her own bathroom. It was definitely a step up from the city prison.

She noticed the small bookshelf that stood across from her bed. Her eyes widened in awe.

"That's not all. You even get a radio," one of the guards said, handing her the small radio before Lin quickly took it back.

"There are some small metal pieces inside it. Try to bend them," the other guard said. Kuvira closed her eyes and concentrated. She tried but the pieces didn't even budge.

"Nothing," she said. "One more thing. Do you promise not to try to remove the metal in order to harm yourself or to escape?" Lin asked.

"I promise not to harm myself if I can get the metal out," Kuvira said. "If I did escape, where would I go?" "Everyone knows who I am. They would call the police and get me arrested again and some would just flat out murder me."

"Okay. The radio is yours." Kuvira smiled. "Thank you." "Don't thank us. Avatar Korra is the one who insisted on you having it."

Kuvira smiled. Korra really did that for her? "Will she be coming today?" "No. She's in Ba Sing Se on Avatar business but she should be back in a couple of days."

Kuvira nodded. She felt a little sad as she had gotten used to the avatar's company over the past three days but at least now she had books and a radio for her entertainment.

"Well. Go ahead and get settled in. Lunch will be served soon," Lin said as she and the other two guards left.

The first thing Kuvira did was turn on the radio. She skipped through stations, waiting for one she liked. She stopped on a station that was playing music.

It was a beautiful song and the words touched her heart. Under normal circumstances she would be dancing but the pain medication she had after breakfast still made her a bit woozy.

She lied on the fairly comfortable matttess, looking up at the ceiling, thinking of the avatar who had shown her so much kindness.

Her thoughts were interrupted when her cell door was opened. "Lunch."

She took the tray and sat at the table. Her meal consisted of a bowl of soup and a bottle of water.

The soup was decent. Definitely a step up from the city prison. She finished it and took a sip of the water before settling on her bed with a book. This book was about the first ever avatar. Avatar Wan.

Thirty minutes later, her reading was interrupted by a knock on her cell door. "Time for your medication."

Kuvira took the two white pills and swallowed them. After checking to make sure she did actually swallow the pills, the guard left her alone again and she continued her reading.
