It occurs to me, as I read Reaping Shadow's review, that I owe the reader a slight glimpse behind the curtain on this story.

About halfway through Gold Wings, I decided to make a series of "pilot Percy" as those on Discord have called him. It was planned to be episodic as opposed to novel style early on with each based around what I perceived to be the major points of his career. It would result in four episodes. Gold Wings - acceptance of the cold reality of military/naval aviation, Honor - ground combat and the traumas that come with that, Courage - time as a squadron and group commander, and then Commitment - which I'll keep silent on for now. However, I intended to write the stories concurrently as there was little overlap. Episodes 1-3 would cover from the 1991 prologue of Gold Wings to its epilogue in 2024, Episode 4 would pick up from the phone call at the end of Gold Wings.

However, work got in the way. Someone was promoted and shouldn't have been and I have been picking up the slack since. Honor was always going to end the way it does, providing the glimpses of his career to now cover 1991-2003 and then 2021-2024. Courage, Episode 3, will cover the time in between, beginning with the dogfight set up in the final chapter. That dogfight is necessary for the lessons learned during that episode. Originally, Courage's prologue was planned to be released just a day or two after that chapter. That cannot happen now.

So, I apologize, not for the ending (that was always the plan), but for not having the follow-on story available for quick consumption.
