Here's the next chapter for Helluva Servant and just in time to for the New Episode that aired just today! About damn time too! Because c'mon how come they don't give Octavia that much of a spotlight much? Huh?
But I will admit, that episode adds certainly a lot of material to use in the future. Plus I already know which chapter I plan on doing next. So without said, I'll stop bothering you all and let you read this new thing. :)
(Also big shoutout to PyroJack25 on Discord for helping out with this chapter!)
Destiny's bar comes into view and the sound of shooting is heard.
"Come on, come on...Cooome on! You bastard I almost got you..."
The camera slowly moves to the right where a flat screen tv that showed a first-person shooter that proceeded to throw a grenade. "Come on you bastard...Come on...Yes! Yes! In your face!" The camera finally shows a tall stool that slowly goes up.
"Yeeeeah! After two weeks I finally took it down! I'm gonna get myself a treat tonight!" The camera stops showing Destiny was now a baby that was still wearing the hood? Destiny noticed the audience/readers looking at it.
"What are you looking at?" If Destiny's face could be seen it'd have a raised eyebrow. "Think babies can't play video games? Then you don't know *Beep!* about babies!" It then settles down a bit before speaking up.
"But those wondering how I ended like this...honestly got no idea myself." Destiny said shrugging it's shoulders. "Also no idea why I'm getting censored either. So I'll just roll with it. Ok, ok, moving on now this happening."
He started to do the recap of what had happened in the previous chapter/episode. Such as Donner meeting Octavia for the first time, and him spending a little with her in his effort to get to know her.
"So previously, our main boy Donner officially got declared as the bodyguard for his master's daughter Octavia Goeita. I can't help but wonder if goth girl will lighten up." We then see brief clips of Donners fight. "We also got to see him more in action. Plus, it looks like things are going off to good start."
The recap stops to show Destiny continuing to play video games. "But you know something, that's the important thing about starting off a friendship. Communication, by actually showing that you're willing to talk and listen to them. By doing just that, people are able to learn more about each other, sometimes things can progress a lot faster to. So bottom line being, everybody needs a friend and it can happen if we try."
Out of nowhere a hand comes out holding a spoon containing baby food. Naturally Desitny turned it's head back trying not to gag as the spoon came closer and closer to it's face. "Mm...mm mm..mm!..Get that nasty *Beep!* out of my face!" Destiny swatted the spoon away with one of his baby arms.
The camera zooms into the screen of the old tv showing off the title.
Helluva Servant
Chapter 3/Episode 3
Games+Friendship=What?
In a large vast forest in the depths of hell itself squelching noises were heard as a familiar red color splashed onto a nearby tree.
A grunt is then heard as something emitted a painful scream until it was silenced follow by another grunt.
Looking back, the figure saw that despite their injuries, some were still alive when a much taller figure dispatched them.
Without much hesitation the figure threw a hatchet forward embedding itself into the skull of a demonic creature and coat it's hand in electricity thrusting it forward causing the neck of another to explode before yanking the hatchet out of the first kill and raised it up slamming it right in-between the face of the one charging at him which splattered blood onto his face in the process.
Finally, everything settled down and it became quiet. The figure proceeded to pull the hatchet was revealed to be none other than Donner who around at this time looked to be around the age of nine.
The young avian demon was out of breath and considering what he'd had to face, he earned this brief moment to let himself calm down and gazed at the area around him that was the end result of his trial.
(Inserting background Music: Akame Ga Kill OST 1 Fallen Hero's)
All around Donner were dozens of corpses belonging to all sorts of different wildlife that inhabited Hell itself. Naturally all of these beasts were savage. Many of them were breed for the amusement of nobles who hunted for the thrill and for many other horrendous purposes. There was so much carnage, bits of flesh, broken pieces of bones & severed body parts all littered the ground itself. From all the bodies ever step he took was drenched in blood. So much so that it was like a large red lake had formed
The avian demon mentally cursed to himself as he recomposed himself
Donner continued steadying his breathing and started walking through the lake of blood. Every step he whooshed stirring it up. It was absolutely insane on how deep this lake was, it reached all the up to his knees.
He looked around and saw that all was still... at least, for the moment it was.
It was absolute dead silence. It was almost like the entire forest that full of dangerous life had all but been extinguished. Eventually he made his way out of the small lake and the cluster of corpses before falling down to his knees. The adrenaline had worn off and he exhausted beyond all comprehension. Before long somebody helped him up onto his feet.
The larger figure who had aided him, walked into the blood lake, until they stood beside the diminutive demon and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Well done."
That said figure was Barbs. He looked over to all the death that Donner had left behind the bat demon gazed at him flashing a smile showing off his fangs evidently pleased to see that he was still alive knowing that this one had very prominent potential.
(Background music end)
A few days had passed since Donner
while Stolas was thrilled to see it going so well one being in the household was not.
Outside we see him sitting out in his garden enjoying a moment of silence that was until it was disturbed.
Someone else had entered the garden. It eas tall, slim, white female avian demon. She had long, hair-like feathers that have gray tips and a large gray stripe on her head. A short pink beak, and very long curved eyelashes. She had gray markings underneath her eyes, which themselves have red sclera with light pupils. For attire, she wears a white dress with puffed sleeves and feather trimming, along with black accents. Lastly, she was seen wearing a crown and has painted nails underneath her black gloves.
This was Stolas's Wife and Octavia's mother, Stella Goeita.
Three words to describe her, loud, overconfident and full of hate. Ok scratch that, four words.
" What the hell is this? "
Stolas raised an eyebrow in confusion turning to her. " What are you talking about? "
" This! "
Holding out a Hellpad she showed her 'husband' a video. Particularly one that Donner had with the bodyguard of Obscures heir even the part where the young avian demon decapitated Mongo's Head.
" Oh, I already know about that. Donner informed me about that incident days ago and I already settled any future disputes with the head of the Obscures family. And by tomorrow all of those video's will be taken down. "
" That's not what I'm talking about Stolas! " The female noble exclaimed slamming a hand down on the table that was near him. " Why the fuck is that 'thing' with our daughter!? "
"Because officially as of right now, he's her bodyguard."
" What!? " She was outraged to hear this getting into her 'signature' mood. " You can't be serious! It's already bad enough we let that little wretched filth stay here in this palace but now you do this!? "
The prince couldn't help but sigh exasperatingly. True he could have done better, but no matter how many times he tried to explain himself, his wife tends to bend and twist it against him.
'Lucifer help me.' he thought to himself. " Why are you even making a fuss over this? Octavia is now in very capable hands. The video itself is clearly evidence enough to show that. "
" And yet there are other demons in hell better suited for the duty of protecting her far stronger than him. "
" True. " Stolas admitted. " But, Donner was able to kill off a very well-known and notorious demon from the Wrath Ring. "
" No offence Stella, but he's actually right. " A voice spoke up making her turn around to see that it was Barbs Penubra the very same noble demon that brought Donner to Goeita's household. Stella very much also despised this bat just as much as Donner and her own husband.
"What are you doing here?" She asked glaring at the bat.
"That's easy. " Barbs answered not bothered nor intimidated as he walked over to them. " I came here simply to enjoy a little time with an old friend." He sat down. "Plus, have you already forgotten that I helped make Donner into what he is now." The bat drank some the refreshments that were on the table.
"A barbaric parasite that will not go away?" She stated, not just to the unwelcome guest before her, but in reference to his protege.
Barbs chuckled at what she said. " I see you're still on about that. Rather than being reassured that your own child is alright your being dramatic. " He smirked a bit his fangs briefly showing. " If I were in your shoes, I'd be at ease. "
The fowl woman's glare deepens. "What happens between my daughter, and I is my business. The fact that you are familiar with my imp fucking husband makes this even more of an eyesore. What's important is the possible scandal this will cause!"
She squawked. "It's bad enough that this bucktoothed freak is courting my child! Now he has insulted a family of great value to the Goetia name!"
" Courting? " Stolas facepalmed himself upon hearing this. " No, no, no. This not an attempt at anything. I'm not courting our daughter. I am making sure she is safe. Why is it so hard for you even understand? "
"Why is it so hard for you to keep your priorities in line?" Stella shot back.
" Oh, I do. " Stolas returned. " Because at least I didn't try to arrange a marriage with a bastard like Zane. Which didn't go so well did it? "
"Don't turn this around on me!" She pointed a finger at him. "I have been planning this for months and now because of that abomination, my plans are ruined!"
" Well to bad. " Stolas retorted in a firm tone. " Unless I get a saying and see whoever you have planned on who you have in mind. She's not marrying anyone! And I'll have you know Donner is one of two most faithful servants. I trust him with my life and I trust him to keep Octavia safe. "
" HOW. DARE. YOU! " The avian demon smashed her fists on the table. "You undermine me! And you have the nerve to scold me, your own wife, as if I were a child!"
Barbs sighed shaking his head speaking up. "Were getting off track here." The bat said in a bland tone.
" Stella, you don't seem to not want to accept the fact that your only child is being protected by an expert who's not fluent in hand-to-hand combat, but also very well adapt in guerrilla warfare."
He took a cigar out from his pocket and tried lighting it. " Deadly with guns, adaptable with in his surroundings. A mind just as sharp relying on his instincts & fighting with bare hands. " After a few times he got it lit and took a few puffs before exhaling.
" Donner has been trained from youth to do one thing and one thing only to kill. Period. "
" Oh great, yet another child soldier." Her words was drooling in sarcasm. " Like this fucking place needs any more embarrassments. "
" How you want to look as it entirely up to you. " Barbs retorted back disappointed that she wasn't seeing to reason. "If it wasn't for at least a few acts of showing him kindness, he would be exactly what you said. " He replied taking another puff of his cigar.
Stolas rubs the bridge of his beak, a very long sigh escaped his mouth. "Stella could we discuss this later? There is something I must address to Barbs." The Owl demon tried to explain to his irritable wife.
Barbs exhaled some smoke. "Yes, and if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to finish it as well. Plus this is rather sad... Your only complaining, when you really should be relieved to know that your child-Sorry, both of your only daughter is well protected. If you'd ever seen his ancestors in war, your family would be mild in comparison. Same goes with my family and you know it."
Her glare never left face, least of all how harsh it was towards Stolas. "Do not think this over." Then goes to look at his guest. "As for you, I warned not to talk about how I handle my family. I will not warn you a third time." With that she finally took her leave.
Barbs scoffed waved her off tapping the front of the cigar making the ashes flicker about into an ash tray. "Yeah whatever. " He sighed before taking another whiff and exhaled out.
"Stolas, even now I still feel bad that your old man paired you up with that bitch"
The owl demon sighed as well. "I know...At one point it was alright, a little bit when Octaiva was little, but then things just worse overtime."
"And if what I hear is true, then I place no blame." The bat demon flicked some ash off on the tray next to him.
"Barbs I have no idea what to do, I've tried for years to try and make things work. But after sleeping with my Blitzy, all that effort was wasted. "
"No shit it did." Barbs commented bluntly glancing over at him. "What'd you expect? It was already shitty enough and then after that more shit came up. And I know you didn't regret it."
Barbs took another whiff of his cigar, exhaling out.
"Plus, with that one, I wouldn't blame you for doing it either."
"Well, I hate to break it to you, but it ain't that simple. But on the other hand at least you got someone you trust to look after you're little girl. " Barbs pointed out. " So that's gotta count as something."
" True enough. " His smile returned slowly. " So what can I do for you, my friend? "
"Well, before we get to what I came here for. I've been meaning to ask you something. " Barbs flicked a couple of ashes into the tray nearby. " I've noticed you been rather quiet lately, and I gotta ask, how's Via been? "
"Why do you ask?"
"I don't know I'm just concerned for her that's all." The bat demon took a puff from his cigar before coughing showing the smoke went down the pipe. He quickly calmed and pated himself on his chest.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." He coughed one last time clearing his throat. "Anyways, yeah I know you're dealing with this shit on a regular basis, but that can't be good for her at all."
He noticed Stolas gained a hesitant look. " I'm not trying to open a can of worms Stolas, I care for her too. She's like a niece to me. "
The Owl demon looked down in thought before looking back to his friend. " I worry about her. "
"Come on, I know you're worrying about her. But dammit, enough with the hot sauce, just give me the meat and give it to me raw." He Barbs requested putting out his cigar into the ash tray.
"Ever since that day, every time I tried to talk to her it's like she's avoiding me. And whenever I do have the chance to talk with her, she never really says much to me. Stella as well, though that's another story." He explained as best that he could.
"Don't really blame her...Kids already got enough on her plate." Barbs said a bit of somber tone. "After all, the noble life has a bunch of outdated crap. Her home life isn't ideal, school is rough and I don't even believe she has any friends aside from the few relatives she gets along with, me included. And now, she's got to look forward to marriage. You know, very few are fortunate to find somebody they actually care about, and barely a few get the choice on who to marry as well. All they mostly care about is their reputation...viewing their kids as...fucking lottery tickets..."
"That's the last thing I want..." Stolas said in an honest somber tone. "I was forced to marry Stella, and it was all planned just when I was a just a child, a little boy. I didn't have a choice or a say in it all...I don't want Octavia to go through the same thing...I don't want that for my little starfire...I want her to be happy... "
Barbs sighed, for as long as he knew the man before him, despite some 'certain things' he was a very diligent and respectable man. When he saw his daughter, he truly saw him as a caring father. But because of what Stolas did, he's worried, not only for Octavia but Stolas as well. Fate was never kind to the Goetia Prince. Barbs has known this for as long as he's known the owl.
"That's what every good parent wants for their kids Stolas, me as well. " He put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Hell, I got one the way, you're a decent example in terms of love minus the other crap. But dammit were not perfect, nothing is. That's a fact. She knows you love her, you know that already. Octavia's just... trying to come to terms with...whatever might come in her own way. We all process things differently. "
"I just wish there was a way to truly help her." Stolas frowned. "I would hate to lose the very thing that's holding me together. " A stray tear escaped his left eye.
"Just continue doing what you can, whatever happens, happens. You also have to be sure that Octavia knows that this whole thing has nothing to do with her. It's a squabble between mommy and daddy and we both love you. You have to be sure to say that. "
"I know...but honestly, Stella is very hard to read with it comes to Via...I mean she might. But I don't know."
Barbs patted him on the back. "Worry about that when the time comes. You know I'll be there to support you anyway I can."
The owl demon turned giving his friend a smile. "Thank you, Barbs. "
"Anytime. " The bat demon replied giving him a smile back showing off his fangs which turned into a grin. "And now, tell me. I gotta know, how's Octavia been since placing Donner as her bodyguard? Come on tell me, details-details!"
The Owl Demon giggled at Barb's enthusiasm. "You're really an eager little bat aren't you?" He whipped away the tear.
"Oh yeah?" The said bat returned giving him a playful jab in return. "Sue me, you're an interesting owl. Now spill it! Tell me!"
"Alright, alright already! Don't get your wings bundled up." He caved in. "To be honest, it's slow. But I think this is the first time I've seen Via this happy! I think I heard she plans to take him down to the market at some point."
" Really? " Barbs was excited now. " He got her to open up so quickly? Wow, I'm surprised to hear this. "
" And yet he somehow convinced her to give him a chance to try and get to know him better. " Barbs pointed out. " That's a good start. How did that trip even go? What'd she say to you? I know you asked her how it went. "
"Well... " Stolas tried to find the words to explain it and his friend was starting to get impatient.
"Well? What? " Barbs questioned. " What? What sign might that be? Tell me. "
Stolas suddenly burst into laughter while Barbs wasn't as amused and wanted to satisfy his curiosity.
The bat said gripping him by the shoulders. " Now I really want to know! Spill it! "
But his laughter grew hardier when the bat asked once again. He was barely holding the table to keep himself up.
"Whoa! Wow, come on, is it really hard to explain it?" Barbs asked but Stolas kept laughing seeing this he started to get annoyed and slapped him to try and get him back to senses.
But his laughter persists making Barbs grab him by the collar and yanks him over. "Come on, just lay it on me."
"Please stop!" He cackled. "You're making harder for me to say it!"
"Well come on." The bat persisted. "What is it? Don't make me something overdramatic!"
Barely managing to calm down he placed his own hand on his friend's shoulder and looked at him.
"Well, if you did that, you wouldn't be able to get any answers out of me!" Stolas grinned.
With a blank face Barbs began to pull onto Stolas cheek. "Tell me."
"Owie!"
"What are you five? Just spill it! "
"Well, for pulling my cheek, I'll never say it at all. " He dared to laugh despite the pain on his left cheek.
Growling in frustration Barbs puts him in a headlock much to the owl demons dismay. "You gonna tell me now!? Because I go on all day you know!"
"For peeps sake Barbs let me go already!"
" Not till you spill the beans! " The bat demon replied. "Teeeeeeeeellllll! Mmmeeeee!"
"You know you could be executed for this! " Stolas stated half-heartedly, struggling out of his buddy's grip.
"Oh please! " Barbs replied as Stolas continued to comically try to escape. "If you did you'd be bored, and you wouldn't hardly have anybody to talk to! Plus what kind of threat is that!? We've been pals since grade school! Is that how you're gonna repay my kindness after all this time!? Huh!? "
"You're so mean!"
"I'm mean!? I was want to know how my devil-daughter is doing in life! Is that so wrong!?"
"If you had a daughter would understand that she has a need for privacy!"
He then released him from the headlock and was now inches away from his face. "Uh hello! I have a wife and daughter too with a son! You were also the best man at my wedding! Plus I got another on the way! I just said that like a few minutes ago! So stop messing with me and just tell me already!"
"Okay fine! As far as I know she was smiling and kept a tight lip. Donner told me she had fun and everything went fine" He exclaimed.
Barbs eyes widened in surprise and let Stolas drop to the ground. "She smiled and has fun? Stolas do you know what this means?"
"That you need to stop being a gossip freak?" Stolas ribbed while on the ground.
"No not that that. " The bat demon waved him off before helping his friend up. "Stolas be real with me for a minute. How often does she smile or laugh? " Barbs questioned. " Over the course of these passing few years? "
Stolas gave it some thought before answering. "Not since Blitzy swooped me up. If I remember correctly."
Barbs gave him a flat unimpressed look raising an eyebrow in response. "Come on...Think, before that whole fiasco. Just think long and hard." The bat responded. "Right before 'that guy' came back into the picture."
"... Possibly... When she was 9." The Owl Demon estimated. "Stella would buy some ridiculous things and we would argue about it which slowly progressed into verbal abuse more often then when we we first started to get aquainted with one another." He continued trying to remember.
"One night we were bickering I was getting fed up with her constant belittlement and she slapped me" he explained. "I think, Via must've saw it, I never felt so ashamed of myself for letting her see that."
Barbs gained a sympathetic look. "I remember you telling me about that... "
"It was only right around that time when things drastically changed as well. " Stolas confirmed remembering that all to familiar sensation and the other times she would do it before shaking it off. " I really do hope that Donner can be able to help at least bring a little more light into Via's life. "
"I know he will. " Was the bat demons reply before clearing his throat and getting back on track.
"Ok, anyways back to what we were originally gonna discuss but got off track. You said that you wanted to show me something? "
"Oh that's right! I completely forgot about it. " Stolas facepalmed himself digging into his pocket till he found it. " Ah, here we are. " He passed it to the bat demon who hummed in curiosity. It was the flag that Donner had acquired days ago. The one with the cog mark that had six wings in the middle and four claw marks with two coming from each angle.
"Where'd you find this? "
"I didn't, Donner did. He snagged it from a group of demons I had him take care of. I haven't seen that symbol before. Do you perhaps know what is?"
Barbs put his hand underneath his chin. " Nope never seen it before. Could be a new overlord trying to set up shop."
"Another one? I highly doubt it, some might be simple minded fools, but they know better than to try to make enemies with demon nobility considering who were often associated with.
"Or it could be the opposite." Barbs guessed.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Stolas, I hate to bearer of bad news, but I think someone is officially declaring war on you."
"That's preposterous."
" Is it? " The bat demon questioned. " Stolas, you might not like what your gonna hear, but most of the residents in hell think you're a joke ever since that fling that imp of yours. Despite your power, your reputation isn't taken seriously, and this can generally lead to demons believing that you're losing your edge. If that's true then you better prepare yourself. It isn't just your safety, but possibly the rest of your family as well including Octavia."
Inside the kitchen we see Donner washing some dishes while nearby Stu was scrubbing the floor and Loretta was dusting the tops.
"I know I've been saying this for days now, but I still can't believe that you got placed as Lady Octavia's bodyguard." Stu said making Donner and his sister groan.
"Will you give it a rest!" Loretta groaned. "You've already said that just minutes ago."
"I'm sorry!" Stu replied back. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. Plus a lot of the other staff are too."
"Well get it over it already!" Donner retorted back washing a glass. "Why do you gotta make such a big deal about it?"
"Much less, shutting up about it as well..." Loretta added growling in annoyance.
Finished with the dishes on his side, the one-horned imp turned to look at the thunderbird. "How did you even managed to accomplish that anyway?"
Donner shrugged his shoulders. "Beats me, Sto-I mean, Master Stolas just decided that I should."
"Not too surprising considering those 'special jobs' he gives you from time to time. Plus, you have proven your loyalty to him as well." Loretta chimed in. "Usually whenever a noble demon has a picked a bodyguard, they always go for the strong ones."
"Most of the time the bigger ones too." Stu bluntly added earning an annoyed glare from Donner. "No offense." "None taken."
"What is it with you and size, Stu?" The twin's smirk did not go unnoticed.
Please," she snorted. "If a tiny little rabbit is able to kill a few schmucks, than I don't see any merit to your point." Loretta commented remembering one movie she just watched recently where a small rabbit killed a knight by biting it's neck.
"Ok moving on! " Donner spoke up changing the subject before it could progress into something else and more ridiculous.
"Now that I think about it Donner, how have you been settling in since your 'big promotion'?" Loretta inquired in curiosity.
Donner thought carefully about it, favoring his jaw for a bit. "It's... Taking some getting used to."
"Even when the princess is 'moody' most of the time?" Stu asked and got a smack behind the head. "OW!" Loretta only gave him a blank look in response. "Are you really gonna say that out loud moron?" "Oh come on, I'm just curious."
"No, it's fine." Donner waved. "You'd surprised how relaxed she is when she's out of the palace. Lucifer knows she needed the air."
"I bet. Especially with the way things have been around here lately, it's gotta be stressful enough. Plus, word is through the palace, her mom, Lady Stella isn't pleased with the whole decision either. " Loretta noted.
"When is not always pleased?" Stu said sarcastically.
"Eh, most of the time yeah." His sister replied. "Obviously, but you notice how out of everyone in the palace, she always has daggers staring at Donner? Like almost all the time? Seriously, what did you even do to get on her permeant bad side?"
Donner only shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. She's always been like that to me since I was little."
"Shit, if it's not you she's whining about, it's The Prince and that guy he's fucking." Stu sighed. "Still got a headache the last time I heard that old shrew squawking.
"Not to mention Lady Stella also as of late became everyone's alarm clock." Loretta noted bitterly. "I'm pretty sure we don't even need the regular ones anymore."
"I hate that bitch." The twins said simultaneously shaking their heads.
"Um...we really shouldn't be saying that out in the open like this." Donner said a bit thankful that 'who they know who' wasn't around to hear that because if so, they'd be dead on the spot.
"Can you blame us?" Stu retorted back.
"What he said, and don't even get us started on the 'night specials'." Loretta added referring to whenever Stella was screaming in anger at night, which as a result deprived most of the staff of any sleep.
The bodyguard starts to pinch the bridge of his nose. Even when he was younger, he still can recall how sour the Prince's wife's mood was when he started working around the grounds. He won't say it out loud, but even he wants to take that tiara of her's and stick it. But alas that's the last thing he, his colleagues, or the other two Goetia need. More drama.
"Even so despite that, you should be thankful that at least you have a place to work and make a decent living for yourselves. " A voice said making the two imps pale and turned around to see it was the Head Maid of the household, Merida herself. Not only that, but also the one who raised Donner at the palace herself.
"Am I wrong?" She inquired raising an eyebrow.
"Uh, no!" The twins shook their heads and immediately went back to their duties.
"Good." Even with her professional composure she gave Donner a small smile. "And I trust that you're fitting into your new position as Princess Octavia's protector with no problems?" He shook his head. "Nothing yet. I'm doing fine."
"That's good." The Head Maid nodded. "How's your cheek?" She gestured to where he was hit previously.
"Oh, I'm alright. But the jaw restoration still stings a little." The teen avian noted.
"I see. Then would you be so kind to bring Lady Octavia this?" She asked passing him a cup of hot coffee.
"Sure. No problem." He takes it to do just that leaving the kitchen.
Both the twin imps stopped looking at the where Donner went off glancing at the female sinner with raised eyebrows.
"Don't you usually do that yourself ma'am?" Loretta questioned in confusion.
"Hmm?" Merida quirked an eyebrow at the imp's question.
"Oh I do, but I did this so that way it'll give him excuse to talk to lady Octavia." She replied back.
"But why?" Stu questioned.
"Surprising as it may sound, but I can't help but notice that she actually enjoys talking to him." Merida answered.
"Oh boy..." Loretta sighed. Knowing she may not get much sleep after all.
We now cut to Donner standing in front of a door holding the cup that was given to him.
With a quick breath he knocks onto it. Instantly he got a reply back. "Who is it?"
"It's just me milady." Donner answered back using the proper address since he didn't want to get scolded for simply calling the goeita princess by her name. Stolas wouldn't mind at all, but Stella does so better safe than sorry.
The door opened partially, and a curious Owl Demon popped her head out of the gap. "Hmm? Donner?" Her eyebrow rose. "What's up? Is that coffee?"
"Uh yeah, Merida told me to give this to you." "Oh thanks. " She took the cup and raised an eyebrow. "Would you like to come in?" "Um...sure...Only if you don't mind."
Octavia would open the door and back away, allowing Donner entry. 'I guess she doesn't.' He thought to himself.
Upon entering it Donner glances around while she closed the door behind her sipping her coffee in the process. "You can sit down if you want." "Oh thanks." He takes a seat on her fancy looking sofa while she sat down at the edge of her bed.
"So... Umm... How have you been?" She asked, uncertain what to say.
"I've been alright. " Donner replied as he readjusted himself to sit better. "Although, I'm kind of frustrated, that I can't have anything sweet for the next two weeks."
Hearing this she sighs sadly. Remembering how, despite her bodyguards victory he definitely took some pretty good hits. "Sorry."
"That's ok." Donner reassured holding out a hand giving her a smile. "You got nothing to be sorry about. It happened, and I dealt with it as I should've. Then again maybe I wish it didn't have to lead to that, but that's just the way hell works."
He quickly changed the subject.
"On the bright side though, the tooth I got knocked out was restored."
"Still, I think mum is on a war path because of that video." After the fight she did remember a couple folks that stayed behind, filming the whole scene. Even in Hell idiots like that are everywhere.
"So I've heard." Donner chuckled. "But I'm not to worried about that. My jaw is still numb though, it's goes on and off like crazy."
"Mind if I have a look?" She asked curiously.
Donner even though a bit caught off guard shrugged his shoulders. "Sure, knock yourself out. Not literally though." He said before opening up his maw to reveal his sharp canines while Octaiva leaned in for a closer look.
She carefully placed her hand on his jaw and gently tilted Donner's head up. Sure enough, his tooth was fully regrown. No more blood and no gap in the slightest. 'The miracles of modern magic.' she thought. "Wow...It's almost like it was never gone to begin with." She commented as Donner closed his mouth. 'But sheesh, Donner's teeth look like it could tear off my arm though...'
"I was surprised as you are. Just goes to show there's another perk when working under royalty." Donner said as she stepped back taking a sip from her cup.
"Does it feel any different?"
"No, but again my mouth has been throbbing like freakin crazy. Been told to take some pain pills for it."
"And are you?"
"Nuh-Uh. Fuck them pain pills I just take ice cream." Donner said in bland tone.
"Not exactly a good remedy." She commented.
" Oh don't get on my case now, I only did it yesterday. From my private stash. "
"You got a stash?"
"Oh yeah, got a mini freezer full of them. I love ice cream." "Do I dare ask what other 'stashes' you have?" Octaiva asked with a raised eyebrow. "Probably best not to. The list goes on and on." Donner replied back.
"Okay, now you have my full attention." The princess stated. "Name a few you're willing to mention."
"Do I have to?" Donner questioned. "Or are you ordering me?"
"Maybe." She teased.
Donner waved her off. "Pff, first off nothing dirty if that's what you're thinking. I'm telling you right now with truth."
"Mmhmm." The smirk on Octavia's face very much present.
"Don't give me that look." Donner replied back. "The only stashes I have besides ice cream, are games, movies and comic books, knives and few guns. But nothing else."
"Games and comics?" Now she's even more curious.
"Yeah, I play Video Games in my free time whenever I get the chance and I like reading comics." He then turns over only to flinch upon seeing a big heavily mutated looking stuffed bear to his right.
"Which I must say is less weird than this thing."
"Hey!" She glared at Donner, picking up the ugly toy. "I'll have you know Mr. Ruffles has been there when I was a kid." Octavia hugged it.
"That's what you call it?" Donner questioned. "I'd call him Raggy. And I thought for a moment that was part of your 'odd' taxidermy collection you have." (edited)
"What's that supposed to mean?" Her brows furrowed further as she puts her favorite bear on her bed.
"Nothing, I just find it a bit strange that a girl like yourself likes taxidermy." Donner replied back raising his hands in defense. "Much less the horrors that they make down here."
Octavia sighed exasperatingly. "So what if I like ugly things? They couldn't be any more cuter if you look past it. And besides, I've seen alley trash uglier than these little buggers."
"Like this one?" Donner asked pointing to a brow four eyed racoon with small antlers and a skunk tail? "The hell is that even?"
"That's Monty. Dad personally got me this one for my birthday." She stated happily.
"You got a name for all of them?"
"Yep." She nodded before going down to each of them. "There's Bruce, Jim, Maurice, Linda, Joyce, Connor, Lucy, Augustus-" the names just keep on coming.
"Ok, ok. I get it. " Donner stopped her. "I get it. You got your hobbies, and I got mine. But, out of curiosity shouldn't you be at school today?"
"Actually, it turns out there a huge outbreak of lice."
"Seriously?" Donner questioned sounding a bit surprised. "That's a thing even in hell? I thought it was only something from the human world."
"I thought so too, turns out sometimes animals accidentally end up in hell and transform to adapt to their environment "
"And how do you know that?"
"Biology." She answered. "But yeah, I heard it was really bad. A lot of the teachers and most of the students minus myself got it. That's why I'm still here."
"Well just goes to show even down here we can't escape the common shit from the previous life. " Donner noted. "Ok so since you can't go, the heck are you even gonna do today?"
Octavia groaned a bit. "My mum is probably gonna have me do my lessons."
Donner raised an eyebrow in curiosity. " You mean those lessons that your mom makes you take to act like a proper lady every four times a month? "
"Five times a month, and yes." The princess corrected. She then raised an eyebrow in curiosity. " You know about that too? "
"Everyone knows. " Donner said. "The servants know which means everyone else in the palace finds out. Mostly through gossip because they don't really have much anything to do."
She groans in annoyance, laying on her bed, shoving her face in a pillow. "Is there any kind of privacy in this fucking place!? God!"
"Well...Do you have any lessons today?"
"Unfortunately." She replied back her voice still being muffled by her bed. "Why do you ask?"
"I'm just curious. What about tomorrow?" Donner questioned.
"Thankfully, no!" She sighed irritably in her bed.
Donner gained a smirk as an idea had been made in his head. "You know tomorrow is one of free days and I happen to plan on doing something."
Octavia rolled over and leaned up from her position. "And what's that?"
"Oh nothing special...Just only a place full of really cool stuff." He replied. "Which also happens to be one of my frequent places I visit."
"What is it?"
"I'd tell you, but I think it'd better if it was a surprise." Donner replied as he grabbed Octavia's empty cup.
"Oh, come on!" She exclaimed. "Don't leave me in the dark like this. What is it?"
"Octaiva, are you doubting your own bodyguard?" Donner playfully returned. "Besides, after that ear tearing lesson today, tomorrow, you'll be thanking me. Trust me you'll love it."
The young Owl Demon, pouted. "You suck!"
Donner chuckled in response. "Not very lady like, milday~" He teased.
"I'm not a lady!" Octavia glared.
"So you're a he instead?" Donner was obviously gonna be pushing buttons but after that comment from earlier, he figured he'd have a little bit of fun. What he got in return was a squeak from one of her toys hitting him in the face.
Donner laughed a bit to that response. "Ok, I deserved that one."
"Damn right you did, you bloody prick!" She squawked. "For that you're going to tell me where we going."
"Hmmm..." Donner thought for a moment as he was by the door. "No spoilers." He quickly closed the door behind him.
She growled at this and threw a pillow at the door. After stopping, she laid back down on her bed. "Sometimes I really hate that guy!" She sighed, a smirk coming out deceitfully.
Time skip. The next day.
We see Donner exiting out of his room. He was now in his casual clothes, which consisted of a black jacket, with a tall collar which had a dark green shirt underneath topped off with blue cargo jeans. He only was able to wear clothes like this whenever he didn't have to work and since this was one of his free days. He could do just that.
With a relieved sigh he walks down the hallway. While doing so he just happened to walk into Stella. Out of everyone he had to run into, it had to be her.
The scowl on her feathered face is very present. "You!..."
"Oh, my apologies Lady Stella I- "
"Shut up!" She squawked. "Do you have any idea what you have cost me?" She dared to ask.
Donner raised an eye in confusion having no idea in the slightest. "I'm sorry ma'am but respectfully. You lost me."
"You cost me a perfect suiter for my daughter!" She poked an accusatory finger at him.
"Suiter?" Donner was still lost.
Losing her already thin patience, Stella pulled a phone out of her dress and put the device, right between his eyes. Showing him the video of his fight, which hasn't been dropped yet. "You remember now, you stupid prick?!"
"Oh that." Donner now knew what she was talking about. "Lady Stella, I speak with only truth. Up till those days ago, I had no knowledge of Zane Obscurus being Milady's suiter. However, he challenged her accordingly, and I did my duty as I was supposed to."
"You following orders from a man who ruins the Goetia name by fucking an imp makes this very inconvenient." The avian demon ranted. "Now you go around insulting a man I worked hard in convincing, killing his own bodyguard and now he revoked our agreement. Do you even realize what you have done?"
"Me protecting your daughter? Because with all due respect. But from what I saw in his eyes, he only saw her a trophy. There's no mutual attraction whatsoever. Milady told him constantly she wasn't interested, and he didn't respect her boundaries."
"Don't talk to me about boundaries, you fucking fiend!" Stella screeched. "First you ruined my plans and now I hear you're having your way with my daughter!" If those words didn't go through the halls, then there's no telling what will come next.
"What?" Donner was surprised to hear this. "No, of course not."
Suddenly Stella went to go for a swift slap however, by instinct naturally Donner caught it which agitated her even more. "You dare defy me?! Take your hand off of me at once!"
Donner does just that and let's go before taking what she intended to do. But despite that Donner did not flinch nor move from the spot he kept his gaze locked into her eyes.
"You have the nerve to lie to me. Now you lay your filthy hands on me!" Her verbal spout continues. "You had better pray nothing will come out of this, boy!"
"Be that as it may, I was given the duty to protect the heir of the Goieta family. And I swear that I will uphold it Lady Stella." Donner replied back showing he was not intimidated whatsoever despite the slap he received.
"That remains to be seen." She stated.
"You may have your doubts. However, I mean every word I say."
The avian demons glare was even more deadly. "Don't think yourself fortunate, you little bastard." Stella warned Donner, before finally taking her leave.
As she left Donner continued walking touching the cheek where she left wincing a bit from the touch. 'Yeah, and you slap like a bitch...' He said to himself mentally as he continued making his way over to Octavia's room.
Once arriving he knocked onto the door. "Milady? Are you up?"
"Donner? Hold on a second just finishing up." Octavia replied back through the other side. The young avian demon stepped back and waited for her to emerge. When she did, Octavia had a bag strapped over her right shoulder. She also stopped noticing the mark on Donners face.
"What happened to you?"
He in response raised an eyebrow because she should already have guessed what had happened.
"Never mind." She sighed knowing full well the cause of it. "I'm really sorry that happened"
"Meh, compared to what I've fought and killed before, she's of no comparison. " Donner reassured her.
"If you say so." Octavia shrugged. "Are you ready?
"I am. I already told your father of what we would be doing so that's out of the way. Are you?"
"Just about."
"Cool. C'mon follow me." They go down the hall and while they were doing so, Stolas peaked his head through the corner. He had unintentionally walked by and immediately eased drop on their conversation. The older owl demon couldn't help but smile knowing that his little starfire was getting along really well with her new bodyguard.
We now cut to the palace's garage where the limo's belonging to the noble family was located as well as the vehicles belonging to the servants.
"Aren't we supposed to call the driver down or something?" Octavia asked, puzzled.
"No, we don't need it this time." Donner replied. "Just because there's perks doesn't mean we ought to show it off every time."
"Who said I wanted to show off?"
"Yeah, fair point." Donner said as they started passing by some vehicles before they stopped. "Aha, here we are." The vehicle they stopped in front of was a black 2006 Ford Mustang with white stripes down the middle.
"No. Way!" The princess gawked. "Where did you get this?"
"This was a present from your dad. Gave it to me on my birthday, since I've done good for this palace for years." Donner replied back.
"Wait, hold on. You can fly, but you also have a car?" Octavia was confused. "Why? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of you having them?" "Most would think yes. But I use this for whenever I don't need to fly. For a good reason too."
"Why is that?"
"Because flying long distances, takes a lot out of me. Plus If depending on how fast I fly, I can unintendedly cause a lot of damage."
"Fair enough." She shrugged. "So Dad actually brought one of these here from the human realm?"
"Yep. I was surprised as you were when I received this. Your mom though wasn't as pleased."
"I never understood why. Some of these cars can be pretty valuable compared to some of the ones in Hell."
"Most likely because it has to do with me or just in general spending there savings on something like this." Donner guessed.
"That or someone else managed to get one down here." She assumed.
Donner cleared his throat. "Anyhow, we really should get going. Your father made it clear to bring you back before the streetlights turn on." He said taking a set of keys out of his pocket and unlocked the vehicle getting inside.
Octavia opens the door and sits by the passenger seat, closing the door after that.
"Hmm, it ain't actually as bad as I thought it'd be." She noted glancing around in the inside.
"What? You really think I'm one of those types of demons?" Donner questioned. "Oh yeah, by the way, there's a double barrel shotgun underneath your seat."
"Huh? Where?" The Owl Demon looked around her seat and noticed something with two barrels and wood she leaned down to grab it. Only to accidentally bump her head against the dash. "Sonuvabitch! Ow!" Octavia nursed the top of her head.
"You know wearing that Tiara I'm not really surprised that was gonna happen." Donner noted holding back a bit of laughter.
Octavia shoved him in the arm. "Shut up! Why do you even have one there?"
"Lots of reasons, I got more guns in here though just in case." Donner shrugged his shoulders in response as he turned the key into the ignition. "So? Ready to have a little fun?"
"Well, what are we waiting for? Purge night?" She asked sarcastically. "Let's go!"
We now cut to see Donner's ford cruise through the streets. Now while most of hells residents were a bunch of crazy bastards and bitches at times. There were still some who knew how to drive, others though not so much. But luckily for them, they didn't have to worry so much about traffic. As they were going, Octavia glanced over to her bodyguard curious about something that he said a little while ago at the garage.
"So, Donner what did you mean back there?" "Mean what?"
"Something about you flying?" Octavia summarized. "And you having this because of that reason?" "Oh that? Well depending on circumstances whenever I fly, things can get... hasty."
"What do you do for my dad exactly?" She asked. "I know you can take on that big guy, but what kind of job would warrant haste?"
"The kind of jobs that aren't so nice." Donner answered. "The ones that involve making sure you're all safe. But those come in every now and then."
"And that's outside of working around the grounds."
"Yeah." "So, what you're like what my dad's hitman?" Donner glanced over to Octavia before shaking his head. "No."
"Then what are you?"
"I haven't the slightest clue myself. Most of the time, I'm just a butler."
Octavia turned over to him. "Then what about that fight? Normal butlers don't do that. Much less most that I know of."
"That's because it's what I taught to do. I was taught to fight and mainly to kill. Other stuff like housework, etc., came second."
"And who taught you?"
"Barbs."
"Barbs? That guy that follows and hangs out with Dad sometimes?"
"Yeah, much like you he's part of the nobility of hell. Infact, he's the one that brought me to your home in the first place when I was hatchling."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
Octavia leaned back into seat in thought. The Owl Demon met the bat a few times, although he's usually discussing important matters with her father. She even heard them laughing, whenever her mother wasn't hovering about. To think he was the one to bring him in previously. But something about this bothered her, why would she want him away? If he was only a baby like her, shouldn't she allow him to stay. It is starting to nag at the princess a bit.
"Why were you taught to fight and kill?"
"All I was told was that. I needed to do it." Donner replied as he made a turn. "And I simply followed along."
She was a bit confused by that reply. Sure it was necessary to do whatever it took survive down here at hell, but something like this just seemed a little off. "You never once questioned it?"
"Sometimes. It never got me anywhere though."
"Is their anything you're bad at?" Octavia tried to steer the topic a little bit.
"Hmm...Evidently I suck at cooking." Donner replied back.
"How bad?" She raised an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Bad enough I was told to stay out of the kitchen unless someone was with me."
"What did you do though?" She chuckled a bit.
Que The Montage
"I've tried cooking eggs. But that didn't work out."
We see Donner trying to cook eggs in pan before they suddenly exploded in his face.
"Then one time I tried to make brownies."
Donner started to mix a couple essential ingredients into the bowl, it was going good. But he quickly realized he forgot one detail, sugar! So he digged around and found something that looked like sugar. Once dinner was ready, it took all but two minutes for everyone in the dining room to make a mad dash for the bathroom. Turns out he took one of the twins' laxatives, possibly to get one of the other.
"I even flunked at making pudding"
We see Donner humming to himself putting the finishing touches on chocolate pudding. He goes over to the sink to wash his hands. While doing so Stolas comes over and takes a finger to taste what his servant had made. Only to gag and pushed Donner aside throwing up in the sink.
"I couldn't even make a good cup of fucking tea."
Donner did as was instructed by Merida to ensure he mixed the leaves, flavor and water together and then put it all in a pot. But little did either of them know one of his feathers fell into the pot. Moments later, the sinner took a sip and almost choked on her own drink. "That was not nice and easy." He remembered hearing
"Plus don't get me started on pastries. I love them, but somehow, I suck at making them too."
We see Donner walking out to the garden holding a tray and presenting it to Stella and some of her mean friends. Setting it down onto the table.
She didn't think about who gave it to her. Stella just swiped the cinnamon roll and ate one. That little sucker was spicier than any other ghost pepper she ever tried. She literally had to drown her head into the fountain, it was that hot.
Before she could emerge out Donner ran off just in the nick of time too as she was fuming with anger while her friends slowly began to back up knowing full well of what was going to happen.
Montage end
"And that's why I'm never allowed to cook by myself." Donner said finishing his story.
"Damn." She gawked "I'm so glad I didn't eat the brownies."
Octavia then broke down in laughter especially with the part that both her parents tasted his 'cooking'.
"Oh yeah? You think that's bad? You didn't even hear about the donut story." "Do I wanna know?"
"That depends on how sensitive your stomach is."
"Try me."
"You know how sugar and baking soda sort of look-alike? I accidently got those mixed up."
"Well one of them feels like powder. But go on."
"Ok, so I baked them and the next thing you know. Ka-boom."
"And that's supposed to make me feel queasy?" Octavia didn't look exactly impressed. But she did laugh a little bit though.
"I'm just getting started. Evidently, because I was five at the time, I didn't know any better, I made them look nice and... I sort of had them served to a couple of guests at a party. And well... things didn't go so well. It was like a huge barf fest, noble demons left, and right were emptying out their stomachs. Then they all had to get their stomachs flushed and ooooh boy... your mom... your mom was nearly close to killing me. Almost. I nearly got kicked out of the palace because of that."
It killed her. That stuff with the brownies was one thing. But to get caught like that before hand made it all the more hilarious and a little revolting. Octavia is laughing so hard, she fell back down to her seat, hugging her stomach.
"Oh-Oh my lucifer! Th-That was you!? I almost had one of those if dad didn't stop me in the nick of time."
"What!?" Donner was shocked to hear this. But thankful it didn't happen.
"Yes!" She cackled. "You almost got me twice!"
"Twice!? When was the second time!?"
"The Brownies you made. With Stu's powder!"
"Oh no." Donner facepalmed himself. "If you did eat either one of those, your mom would make sure you're never near me."
Finally managing to calm down a bit, Octavia finally answered. "I don't think she even wants you near me anyway."
"No, she doesn't. " Donner commented.
"Well bad food aside, why didn't she want you in the palace?"
"Um..." Donner thought for a moment. "I haven't the slightest clue. Your mom has treated me like dirt since I was little and I still don't know why."
The princess wanted to say something, but she didn't know what to say. The fact that even Donner doesn't have a clue bothers her even more. He was just a baby! What could a baby do to deserve her ire?
"So...she's been like this to you your whole life?" "Yeah." He glanced over to her for a brief moment. "I still find it surprising, that someone like you came from someone who seems to be full of hate. Minus your father."
"I never understood why he married her." She honestly said.
"I don't either." Donner commented. "But at least, something good was made out of it at least."
Octavia looked at him, wanting to hear what he's going to say.
"You. Despite the shit going on there you're actually good at heart. At first overtime I thought you were just moody, but overtime I figured it out."
"And I thought you were another stick in the mud asshole that wanted nothing to do with me."
Donner turned over to the female owl demon and gave her a smile. "And am I still?"
"Well..." The Owl Demon smirked with an index under her chin. "You're still a stick in the mud."
"Pff, nice." Donner retorted with a smirk. "And meanwhile your pretty much a moody goth."
"And proud of it!" Octavia proclaimed, playfully punching his arm.
"You know I could turn around."
"And what? Go back to hearing mom and dad bickering?" She joked sarcastically.
"When you put it put it like that never mind." Donner replied back. "I sure as hell don't want to."
"Exactly!" Octavia exclaimed knowing it was
"And speaking of which, were finally here." Donner said in a pleased tone as he pulled up a small parking lot.
Octavia glanced through the window and read a sign reading 'Howlin Moon Records'. "A record store?" She turned over to her bodyguard. "This is the surprise?"
"Don't let the sign fool you." Dooner said. "They sell everything. All sorts of goods."
"What kind of goods exactly?"
"Not drugs, or any kind of that sort of thing if that's what you're thinking. They sell music, instruments, comics books, all sorts of stuff nerds are into. Which a majority of the stuff comes from the human world."
Donner exits the car and closes the door while Octavia did the same. "Trust me you'll find something here. I guarantee it."
She shrugs and would follow Donner to their destination going up to the door of the store itself.
Upon entering, they were greeted with a very pleasant atmosphere, music was heard playing in the background. This very place had shelves and display cases everywhere. As for the stores, employee's they were all Hellhounds. t ranged from music, such as cd, and records. There were also rows of comic books, movies, everything that anyone who loves popular culture would most likely call this place the closest they'll get to their personal heaven in this shit hole.
"This nice actually." Octavia admitted as they started walking through. "You come here often?"
"Yep, I'm a regular here." Donner replied as they passed by some shelves and a few customers and a few employees giving them a couple high fives and fist bumps.
"Clearly. Anything else I should know about?"
"Well, if you must know. I happen to be acquainted well with the owner here."
They walked up to the desk where the cash register was located. Behind it was a small hellhound resembling a chihuahua with brown fur with red eyes like most of her species bearing a small ring in her right ear. She was wearing a red dress.
"Hey Carla." Donner greeted the said canine. "I'm looking for Miguel."
"Don't know where he is. I think Rocky knows."
"Where's he at?"
"Over here." A voice replied making them turn around to another counter. Sitting on a stool was a young hellhound pup.
He looked to be five years old. But unlike the other hellhounds he looked more human, with very little canine features. He looked like a miniature version of the wolfman. His fur was colored black with a hint of brown, where the human ears would be located, they were canine instead Just. His clothing consisted of a red shirt with a black guitar.
Donner smiled as he walked over to him and gave him a fist bump. "Hey, Rocko, what's up?"
"Nothing much." The pup replied back chuckling a bit while Octavia looked a bit intrigued by what she was seeing. She'd seen a lot hellhounds before, both as normal citizens and other times being bodyguards for demon nobility. She would know, since they had Hellhounds as security for the palace. But nothing like this kid before her so it was actually a sight to see.
"Rocky listen, do you know where dad is at? He's got something for me."
"Oh, he's in the back Donner. You can't miss him." The pup replied back as he pointed over to a door in the left corner.
"Thank you." He turned to Octavia. "You gonna be alright?"
"I'll be fine."
"Ok, I promise it won't take to long. Just a take a little look at they got here."
After Donner left she started browsing through the various selections of movies, and games that they had available. "Wow, they really got some older stuff here. I haven't seen some of these in years." She held up a PS2 copy of Kingdom Hearts. "Huh, this is one I didn't expect to find."
"No there almost impossible to find period." Rocky commented
"Where'd you get them?" Octavia looked to the boy. "I always thought they were all in the human realm?"
"Well, most of the time whenever demons enter the human world sometimes, they steal random crap from whenever they go and sell them off for a quick buck. Most of them being imp, Incubus, & succubi, . Most of the time were lucky enough to find them and the rest we just find them by chance." Rocky replied. "You got anything in specific you're looking for?" "No." Octavia shook her head. "Not really, just whatever catches my eye I guess."
She casually looks at all of the games on the shelves and is surprised at the large variety that's in stock. From shooters to horror and so much more. Even the most obscure can be seen. The Hell Pup wasn't exaggerating about the shops collection. But then her line of sight stopped upon a game she hasn't heard of before. The princess pulled it out and upon closer inspection and saw a black cover and a man in a clown mask with his head on fire, Twisted Metal Black was it's title.
She picks it up and takes a look at it. "Wow, you actually have this here too?"
"As a matter we do!" Rocky smiled enthusiastically. "This is probably one of the cooler games we got on stock!"
"You ever played it before?" "Eh, only a few times a couple of years ago." Octavia replied recalling the times when she able to briefly play a couple of games with some of the other noble kids to get a break from their parent's constant strangle hold on them to shape them into royal material. "I was pretty good at it too."
"Really?" The boy's tail started to wag, even more ecstatic. "C'mon, I know a spot where you can play it!" He grabbed the teenager's hand and pulled her along.
"C'mon I don't want to take up your time." Octavia replied even though a bit surprised by the pups strength she actually found this to be a bit adorable. "Are you kiddin? I don't mind. Plus, we do this all time." "Really?"
"Totally, we allow people to have a test drive of the game they want before buying it. Most people thought it was stupid, but it actually works really well." Rocky answered as they went over to a series of booths and inside were many demons playing in front of tv's. Some had one for single players and others had a few demons inside for multi-player games.
They got into a booth and Rocky started getting her set up with the controller and everything. "Alright, you're all good to go."
"Uh, Rocky, was it?" Octavia questioned making sure she got his name right. "I appreciate the gesture, but it's been a long time since I played." "Well come on then. Give it a try." The hellhound pup encouraged. "You never know."
Octavia shrugged an 'okay' and sat down on the seat. Grabbing the remote, while the pup activated the console. The very familiar chime of the PS2 triggered and soon enough, a guitar played 'Paint it Black' before zooming onto the same clown on the cover.
"Hell, I've never thought I hear that sound again." She smiled in nostalgia.
"So, who did you usually play as?" Rocky asked as she got the title screen and onto the character selection.
"I think it was that guy with skull helmet. I forgot his name." She scratched her head, trying to remember the driver's name.
"Uh...I think it was Mr Grimm? Right?"
"Yeah, yeah! Mr. Grimm! That's him." She pointed to Rocky, thankful for his help.
"So how often do you even play games?" He asked as she got started and picked which vehicle she'd use. "Don't really have the time. My mother wouldn't let me. Always said it was a waste of time and not very lady-like."
"C'mon I don't want to take up your time." Octavia replied even though a bit surprised by the pups strength she actually found this to be a bit adorable. "Are you kiddin? I don't mind. Plus, we do this all time." "Really?"

"So how often do you even play games?" He asked as she got started and picked which vehicle she'd use. "Don't really have the time. My mother wouldn't let me. Always said it was a waste of time and not very lady-like."
"Sounds to me like she's got a big stick up her ass." Rocky commented.
"Oho, you have no idea..." Octavia replied. 'Just hope you never have to meet her too.'
"So how do you want the difficulty?" The pup asked.
"Um...just have in normal."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. I'll just let it come back to me." She replied before the game finally started. (edited)
"With Mr. Grimm?" "Yep." "Your funeral." He shrugged.
Within moments she started to play and already she was doing very well which surprised Rocky. "Damn."
Unlike most cars in the game, Mr. Grimm had next to no armor. So, it's guaranteed that she will take some hits. But she keeps bobbing and weaving around the opposing drivers, managing to take out the competition in the junkyard, before going to the next level.
"Damn..." Rocky couldn't find another word to use as he kept watching her play. "You sure you haven't played this in years?"
"I'm pretty sure." Octavia answered. "I honestly can't believe I remember some of the courses."
"You don't say..." Rocky replied as he continued watching as if he was mesmerized. "You don't say..." From outside the booth a single imp passed by before stopping and peaked inside to watch making sure he was quiet.
Octavia had just managed finished the to complete the third level and soon a cutscene triggers. A large gas truck with a flamethrower up top is her one and only opponent, Minion. To say this would be a challenge is an understatement. The spectator honestly believed the princess was going to be creamed. Not only was it tough, but it's guns can do some real damage and there's a barrier defending this monstrosity.
Soon enough from outside the booth the imp motioned others to come join. Out of curiosity to see what the buzz was about they all gathered making sure they were quiet and watched on in awe at way this female owl demon was playing.
Soon enough Octavia unknowingly had a whole crowd watching her. Even Rocky didn't notice because he was so focused on watching her play.
Octavia wasn't trying to go head on with her opponent, it's suicide. So, she figured that it's better keep distance, load up on ammunition and take out the shield from a safe distance. And so far, the plan was working.
Slowly but surely, she managed to take Minion's defenses, however the fight wasn't over yet. Finding what little health packs, she could to survive and more guns to shoot. Firing everything the owl demon had, she barely managed to destroy the truck on a red bar and two lives still intact! =
Outside the booth the onlooking crowd increased in size until all the demons in the booths playing stopped and watched this crazy spectacle before them.
The three levels were a little tricky. One was a prison, where you're boxed in for a spell until the gate opens up. The next Octavia chose was the mountains. Wasn't too boxed in, but some corners would possibly knock her off the map if she wasn't careful. By the time she reached the rooftops was where it was more difficult. Avoiding enemies was one thing, but the likelihood of Octavia's character was pretty good. Yet in spite of those trials, she has managed to make it to the final level.
Everyone watched in anticipation wondering how this would play out, because not once did this owl die yet in game. Not even once, no retries, nothing. So they were really curious to know if she was actually gonna pull it off.
Much like with Minion, Warhawk has a shield protecting. Difference was that the tanker trucks, similar to Minion's, would crop up and the field is on a singular rooftop with barely any cover. Obviously, Octavia would deal with the trucks, eventually she destroyed them and would now target the attack chopper. Some of the weapons won't work, with it flying and to make this even more troublesome is that both cover positions were demolished.
Leaving Octavia with no other recourse but to open fire and find health as quick as she could. During the fight she almost slipped off of the field, almost giving herself a heart attack. In the end, with barely enough health to spare, scarce amount of weapons and sweat coming out of her feathered palms, Warhawk has been destroyed.
Triggering her characters final cutscene. When it was done the onlookers broke out in applause taking her and Rocky by surprise as they didn't know they were there. Much less it was Octavia who was surprised not expecting to get this much attention like at all.
"Damn!" Rocky exclaimed. "Didn't think you'd get this much attention."
Understandably, The owl demon blushed in an embarrassment, despite the ovation she's getting. This is probably the first time this has happened to her.
"I gotta say, that was pretty good. She did pretty good." One imp commented. "I know shit, she beat it like in what? Twenty-five minutes ago?" "Yeah, seriously that's gotta be a record."
"I have seen anyone play like that since coming down here." A sinner commented.
"Hey, hey!" Someone spoke up making them all turn around to see it was a Doberman pinscher hellhound. His clothing consisted of a open gray jacket with white shirt underneath topped off with jeans torn at the knee. This was Greg the manager. "What's going on here?"
"Oh, man Greg You should've seen this!" Rocky smiled. "Octavia was playing one of the Twisted Metal games and she kicked ass! "
"Really? She beat it?" "Yeah, she beat that game in just twenty-five minutes."
"Twenty-five minutes? No shit?"
"Yeah!" He replied. "I know it takes an hour or less to beat but..."
"Heheh, is that so?" He looked at the female owl demon with raised eyebrow. "In that case, someone that's able to do, that, what's say you and me go a round?"
"Me?" She pointed at herself, uncertain.
"Yeah, me and you. Just one game that's it. You're choice."
It took a moment to think. Unsure what would be a good game to play against this man. "What else do you have?"
"Well, what do you have in mind? Which do you feel comfortable with?"
"Um...maybe something that has do with fighting?"
The manager grinned at this. "Oh yeah? Any in particular? We got stuff like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, even some of the more obscure ones, like Thrill Kill."
"I...I think I can work with Mortal Kombat." The owl demon replied since she was a bit more familiar with it and watched a few videos every now and then out of boredom.
Greg clapped his hands together, rubbing between his palms. "Well in that case, I've got just the version to use on you!" The employee bolted from the booth to grab one the games in stock.
"Think you can handle this?" He asked showing off Mortal Kombat X
Octavia remembered playing some of the older ones like 2 and Deception. She wasn't all caught up for obvious reasons. While the teen is familiar with it, it'll be a new experience playing the reboot.
"I think I can handle it." She answered back in response.
At the same time right about when Octavia was doing her activity's.
We see Donner moving through the back area looking around through all the boxes that were around following the source of a few sounds where boxes were being moved around.
"Miguel?" The young avian demon called out. "Miguel you there?"
"Over here Donner!" A voice replied back making him turn over to another stack of boxes to the right that were moved around.
The one moving the boxes shared a lot of resemblance to Rocky only much taller, not to so much buff like normal male hellhounds, but in decent enough shape. He too had a human like face, including the ears. His eyes were the same color, but his fur was colored solid pitch black. His clothing consisted of a sleeveless light blue shirt with red outlines, on the front with a black crescent moon. He lastly was wearing a pair of jeans with a few tears at the front. He also had a necklace was a small gold locket the shape of a coin.
"Hey, Donner. Good to see you."
"Yeah you too." Donner shook his paw.
"Been a while, how you been?"
"I've been ok. How about you? How's business?"
"Going really well actually." He replied before noticing a distinct mark on Donner's cheek. "I see the lady of the house still showing her ''love."
Donner scoffed a bit. "It isn't like that was the first time. Yeah, I don't want talk about it ok."
"Fair enough. So, you here for what you ordered?"
"I got a notification that did arrive. That true?"
"Yep. Follow me." Donner starts to follow the strange looking hellhound. "So, from what I heard, you've been busy."
"You saw that video too, didn't you?" The male avian demon already knew where his friend was going at with it.
"Right before they all got taken down. Yeah." Miguel confirmed as they stopped over to a shelf. "That fight was brutal. Especially that hit to the head."
"Yeah. But I got even with the guy."
"No kidding." Miguel chuckled as he looked for Donner's package. "I heard of the term an eye for an eye. But instead, a head for a head."
"However, in this it was mostly his head." Donner retorted back. "I really wish it didn't have to go that route though."
Miguel paused for a moment glancing over to Donner and continued on with his search. "You know, I don't get you at all man. You say that, but you still killed the guy. What's up with that?"
"I only kill if I have too." Donner replied firmly. "I don't enjoy it. I don't take pleasure in it either."
"Relax man, I already know." Miguel replied back. "You got your view, and I got mine. I do what I can for my boy. But I will do whatever it takes to keep him safe."
Donner hummed back and quickly enough Miguel changed the topic. "By the way, who was that girl in the video anyways? The one standing next to that big guy's supposed master."
"That was Octavia Goeita. Sir Stolas and Lady Stella's daughter."
"Really? What the heck were you doing with her at the mall?"
"Don't say this to really anyone else, but as of a few days ago. I've been officially placed as her bodyguard."
"Wow, that's a pretty big responsibility to look after someone like her." Miguel commented in surprise. "What's she like?"
"Moody...however considering the way things have been at the Palace I don't blame her. But she's actually ok."
"Oh yeah? Pretty cute?"
Donner raised an eyebrow at that and Miguel chuckled. "I'm joking, relax."
"Hopefully you are because she's with me right now."
"Wait what?" He paused turning over to Donner his eyes almost bulging out in surprise. "Are you serious right now?"
"Yeah."
"Why the hell is she here?"
"Octavia just wanted a break to get out that house. That's all. Plus I offered her if she wanted to and she said yes."
"Dude, I know you're really good at what you do. But this isn't really the place for someone like her to be seen at."
"I'm aware Miguel. However I trust you enough to help if things ever progress to that. But Miguel, come on. You have a reputation yourself, no body who's really stupid gonna come around and pick a fight with you."
"Don't try to butter me up. I know I can hold things here. But dude, you got to remember I gotta kid." Miguel started to get a little defensive. "The last thing I want is to get him into harms way."
"Even so, there'll come a time when he'll have to fight." Donner retorted. "Where we live, violence is unavoidable most of the time. Those who don't really have much confrontation are lucky, but that can also not be a good thing." He sighed shaking his head a bit.
"Miguel, I'm not here to cause trouble or put a target on your back. I'm just trying to help her catch a break from the drama back home. She's got a lot on her shoulders as it is."
Hearing this reasoning seemed to calm down Miguel a bit and breathed out. "Ok, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you like that."
"That's alright. I understand."
"Is she at least friendly?"
"Eh, she's not very social and with what her father has been doing as of recently, you can pretty much put it together."
"So, she's pretty much ok and much more chill than most noble demons. Cool. That's really good to know plus, I don't have to act being polite." He spots a box in particular. "Aha, here we are." He grabs it and passes it over to Donner.
"Thank you."
As Donner and Miguel reached to the door they heard a bunch of cheering from the other side. They both glanced at each other in confusion naturally. " Huh? " The hellhound merely shrugged his shoulders in response.
They opened the door and looked to the left where they saw everyone gathered by the stores private gaming tv. A special spot where he and the employees would take breaks and settle disputes that don't end up having them kill each other.
Whoever they were cheering for, must've been something because the hellhounds were all acting like it was Super Bowl Sunday.
" Alright! " " Yes! Yes! " " Whoo! "
"Hahaha! Is that all you pansey!?" Carla screamed out. "You suck!"
"You almost got her, what are you doing!?"
"Hold still, you little bitch!" Greg cried out in frustration.
"Oh, what's the matter? Where'd all that confidence from earlier go?" A familiar voice retorted back in a smug tone. Donner already knew who it was. So he and Miguel walked over peering above the hellhounds to see who was playing.
Much to their surprise it was Octavia and she was playing with Greg. The game they were playing, Mortal Kombat X. Octavia was playing as Mileena while Greg was playing as Tremor.
Right now, things weren't looking so good for the hellhound as his character kept getting hit repeatedly as the female owl demons character kept teleporting.
"Fuck! Stop hitting me!" The hellhound Octavia was playing with was starting to panic a little.
Octavia merely laughed at the employee's dismay as she continues to pummel his character and just as she triggered Mileena's rolling thunder... Blood paved the screen as the Brutality was unlocked and the small audience cheered and clapped at the princess' victory!
"You know your dad is going to be mad about this, right?" One of the loser's comments as she ponies up.
"Hey, come on, what's the harm in it? You all made the wager but instead I won." The young hellpup commented proudly. Miguel meanwhile couldn't help but chuckle at what his son did before crossing his arms to address him. "Oh really?"
Rocky froze for a moment as Miguel leaned down to him. "Plus, if you lost, I would've had to pay them not you."
The boy chuckled nervously. "Hey, Dad. Y-you're back early."
Donner chimed in as a way "What's going on?"
"Well, Greg challenged Octavia and well it progressed into this." Rocky answered. "By the way I'm keeping the money."
Miguel glares at the pup, holding his right hand expectingly. "Mijo."
"Oh, come on dad they lost fair and square!" Rocky protested. "Plus, no offence but that allowance you give me is barely like paper scrap. I almost got enough for that one thing."
The father's glare remains, hasn't moved an inch. "1."
"Come on please!? "
"2."
"No, you can't have it!" Rocky makes a mad run for it out of the store.
The Hellhound didn't' even need to struggle manages to catch the pup by the back of his shirt. Couldn't make it past the door. "Not so fast, hombrecito!"
The boy tried to run but the grip was too tight. "Come on dad! What's the harm in it!?" The pup groaned in annoyance still trying to squirm out of his old man's grip.
"Because there are plenty of pendejos out there that would sooner take the money from you than let you have it." Miguel hoisted him up to where they were now at eye level. "And the last thing I want is for you to do something stupid over chump change. Now hand it over!"
Rocky groaned as he placed the money into his fathers paw giving him a raspberry. "Fine!"
"Good. Now check all the shelves if they need restocking." Miguel told his boy dropping him down onto the floor all while Rocky grumbled underneath his breath angered that he didn't get to keep his earnings.
Miguel only sighed shaking his head. "Kids..." He turns back to Donner and Octavia. "Well, hope you find anything else to your liking." He then leaned down to Octavia passing her a small coupon. "Also, here, on the house. Not everyday royalty comes into here." He gave off a wink before walking off. "Ok, fun times over! Back to work you mutts!"
All his employees groaned as they started doing so.
"You never told me you played video games." Donner said glancing over to her.
"I live in a very stressful household Donner. I need multiple ways to vent out my frustration." She replied in a flat tone before growing curious. "What did you even get anyways?"
"Check this out." He proudly hold out a box showing off a horizontal shaped game console titled Death Drive VXV.
"You came all the way here just to get that?"
"Are you kidding me? It's the new Death Drive VXV, have you heard of it?"
"No."
"It just came out today. This fine specimen plays both PS4 and X Box 1 games. Hey while we're at it let's check out and see what else this shop has to offer. Did you see anything you might be interested in? "
"Not yet."
"Well come on let's go see what 'treasures' we can find." He said air quoting the word treasure getting a small laugh from her in return as they walked over to the records immediately, he spotted something. "Ooh, here's one."
"You like Green Day?" Octavia asked as he was holding up their Greatest Hits: God's Favorite Band.
"Not a diehard fan, but I like their music. You wanna know what's even more funny? Look at the last three words. Ironic, isn't it?"
"Pff, yeah it is. Considering it's down here rather than up there."
"Yep. Defiantly going for this one."
"So does this mean you have a stash of records?"
"I'll let you use your imagination." Donner retorted back playfully as he started to glance through some more records they had in their selections. While he did she caught interest of one. Picking it up, it had a crazy looking guy on it, the title of the Record was Diary of a Madman."
" I didn't peg you to like Ozzy Osborne. " Donner commented as he peered over her shoulder.
"No. Actually I never heard of him. "
"What?" He looked at her in surprise. "You know who Queen is but you don't know Ozzie Osborne?"
"No, never heard of him. He looks like one of those heavy metal bands in the human world that's heavily themed around demons."
" That's what a lot of people thought to. But he's actually a member of the Church of England and always prays before performing. He's got a boatload of great songs. Trust me, you'll like him. Give it a shot."
"Eh, ok, But if I don't like him. You owe me."
"That's fair."
...
Twenty minutes later we see the two emerging out of the shop carrying a few bags, but while doing so and much to their misfortune it was raining.
Octaiva groaned upon seeing this. "Are you serious?"
"I think this already anwser's your question." Donner commented glancing up at the raindrops. "This whole thing came out of nowhere."
"You don't happen to by any chance have an umbrella do you?" The female owl demon questioned.
"No..." He then gained an idea. "Wait, hold on a second..." Donner got up next to her which confused Octavia as she glanced down at him.
"Uh...what are you doing?" Her bodyguard simply smiled.
"This way I'm doing my job and you can keep dry."
"Huh?" Donner extended out his wings curling them upwards creating a roof of feathers over him and the young noble "Oh! That's actually a lot better." But before they could cross the street a speeding car came rushing past them splashing a whole bunch of water into the air.
"Whoa!" But before the splash could connect one of Donner's wings went out shielding her from the incoming water. She expected to be soaking wet by now, however she was still dry and looked to see the wing retract back over the owl and her bodyguard.
" Talk about good timing. Thank you, Donner. "
" No problem." He replied back as they made their way back to his ford. "Hang on a second." He set his bag down and momentarilly quickly examined his car as fast and thoroughly before unlocking the thing.
"What were you doing?" Octavia asked as her bodyguard helped her unload the stuff into back of the car.
"Easy, making sure nobody put a bomb on it."
"I'm not gonna ask." She went inside while Donner jumped over to the other side getting into the driver's seat. "Hey Donner? Can I request?"
"Yeah, sure what do you want to do?"
"Do you mind we take a little detour before going home?"
"So, you basically want to waste time to get a little amount of peace?" Alright, I'm in."
Octavia smiled hearing his response showing she that was generally that he did. Because she didn't know why, but for some odd reason this noble demon was enjoying spending time with her bodyguard. Octavia had finally felt that she had found someone else beside her dad that she would get along just fine with, more then ever now.
We now shift over to a small crappy apartment where the sound of pleasurable moaning was heard where the song White Room by Cream was playing.
However, all the sudden a phone was heard, and the moaning stopped.
"Would one of you pass me phone?" A distained voice asked almost sounding like two people speaking at once. A succubus comes into view passing the phone over to whoever was giving her pleasure along with one of her friends.
"What? Hmm? A job." This demon gets up from the bed. "Excuse me." He told the two he was sharing bed with going inside of a bathroom. "No, I'm still here."
The demon in question cleared his throat before continuing to speak. "So, what kind of job? " The demon inquired before gaining a large smirk, large yellow fangs seemingly appearing to glow brightly. "Oooh, so the one we talked about a while back huh? You already know your answer. Pay me half in response now and the rest when it's done and over with. Excellent, were in business."
He grabbed a pen and note pad to write down on. "Alright, I'm ready. Give me the list." He started to scribble down. "Uh-Huh...uh-Huh. You sure about these ones? Alright if so say so."
The figure chuckled in amusement. "Oh, don't worry, I'll make quick work of them. I'll get started right away."
He then exited out of the bathroom going back to bed. "Alright, you two. Let's make this one count. Because starting tomorrow it's gonna be busy."
"Works for me." The succubus replied while her friend hummed in agreement and continued on with their fun.
The old tv in Destiny's bar zoom back showing it sitting in a barstool where its body was now back in normal size.
"What did you think that I would be baby forever? Hell no." Destiny then happily clapped its hands.
"But one thing for sure Donner and Octavia's friendship is developing very nicely. However..." Destiny's voice grew ominous. "While this happens, other forces begin to go at work. Makes us wonder what will happen doesn't it? It makes you question what'll transpire and how it'll affect them in the long run."
Destiny shrugged its shoulders. "Oh well, you'll just have to wait and find out what'll happen later. Till then sayonara." With those words said Destiny gave the crowd/readers a double wave goodbye.
To be continued
Now replying back to reviewers
israelsanchez2021: Actually no, it's what he's based off of. And yeah, I'll do what I can to update that story, but there's others I want to work on before that one.
Gamelover41592: Thank you.
dragon rose 11: Actually a little bit of inspiration did come from that game, but also the guy from Kamen Rider Saber. But it's not just Octaiva that gains a friend but Stolas as well.

King of 2211: No he does not. As for that character never heard of him, but I already decided for his voice actor to be Derrick Show, who voices Shinra Kusakabe in Fire Force. Hope you liked reading this chapter too by the way man.
