This is a day late I admit but I had so much fun writing this~! This isn't the only prompt for Disney though~

Day Three Theme : Disney (part 1)

Summary : Tai is determined to be part of that world and he's more than happy to seize this opportunity.

He never truly fit in.

Whereas some feared the surface, he looked at it with so much admiration, the glint of adventure in his eye. He wanted to explore more of it.

Some tried to blame parenting on his unquenchable taste for the surface. Yet on the contrary, his parents were just as, if not more concerned for their son's fetish for the surface. They had tried to curb it as much as they could yet the fire seemed to grow more and more inside of him.

Others tried to blame the way that society had taught him. Maybe they weren't strict enough on him. Maybe they had been too lax on teaching him on the evils of the human surface. Yet on the contrary, they were very austere in trying to teach him how the surface world was bad. It didn't work at all. Not even for a nano-second.

At least a few more blamed the black sheep of the family. He too, just like this one, had been obsessed with the human surface. He would come home holding items that he had collected from his adventures on the surface. Yet on the contrary, that family member died long before he came into this world, so there couldn't have been any way for Taichi to be influenced.

Nineteen year old Taichi felt so free when he explored the surface world. The sun felt so nice and warm against his wet skin. It was a new world waiting for him to discover it. He had dreams of one day being in the surface, walking in land, with the people! People like him! The ocean was not the place for him. Filled with single minded cowards that never wanted to know that there was something else in the world. Immediately he regretted saying such things about his family and his friends he knew it wasn't true but even so what was the point of him staying under the sea absolutely miserable.

Taichi knew that he was the unfavorite among the students. He didn't sing as well as Yamato and Mimi. He certainly wasn't infectiously joyous as Daisuke was. What was the point of staying underwater? Sure he had his family there. Many would call him out on being selfish but it wasn't like his prospects were high ever since he had rescued her. He remembered that fateful day. It was a warm summer night and he was wanting to get his mind off of things. He then noticed above the sea a multitude of many colors that colored the night sky. The brunet merman swam up to the surface.

What he saw amazed him. Sailing in the ocean was a ship, that stood proudly against the waters. Fireworks decorated the night sky, giving illumination. With an excited smile, Taichi swam towards the ship. He had always wanted to see a ship up close, at the very least one where it was still intact and actually sailing. Sure the sunken ship he frequented was fun to explore, especially if there was something he could collect from there but to see an actual one in action was amazing.

As he climbed discreetly to catch the scene, he was in awe. The sound of merrymaking and laughter filled the air as many of the guests up on the ship were laughing. One older man was playing with an accordion to the music as the rest danced and clapped to the music. Taichi watched the scene with a smile on his face. How, how could anyone ever think that these were monsters? These people were just like them. They liked to make music, they liked to dance, they liked to converse and gossip about the latest things they could remember. They were like the merfolk…just with legs instead of tails and with more clothing.

He didn't hide himself that well however. He caught sight of a cat looking at him with a suspicious look on her face. She sniffed him and Taichi yelped, trying to make her leave then…

"Coco? Coco, where did you go, girl?"

The cat's face softened and ran off to a direction in the ship. Taichi out of curiosity watched the cat's owner and he was awed at what he saw.

She had short reddish orange hair that reached to her shoulders, crimson colored eyes that shone like the rubies Kari and her female friends liked to wear occasionally, and light skin that was kissed with the sun's shade enough to have a slight healthy tan to it. She wore a crimson corset top with white off the shoulders sleeves to compliment it and lace on the top, a matching skirt, and black boots. She was absolutely beautiful. With a gentle smile, she petted Coco who purred under her owner's embrace.

Taichi was awed at this young woman who was about his age. He was amazed by the way she moved, the way she talked, the way her eyes sparkled as she talked about how she wanted to find the right one for her. He never felt this way about anyone like this.

His thoughts were interrupted by the crackling of fire and the winds becoming more violent. He quickly dived down as he saw the wreckage of the storm and the fire consuming this ill fated ship. Taichi saw, panicked among those in numerous boats, including Coco. He saw sight of all of them….except for her. Taichi's eyes widened in shock as he soundlessly gasped upon seeing the young maiden barely clinging to debris as she was losing consciousness. No! I can't let her die! As he heard the anxious and concerned shouts of the boat passengers, two who he assumed were her mother and father.

The young merman dived in and caught her, dragging her to the surface, praying and hoping she would survive. He laid her out in the sand watching anxiously to know if she was alive. He was met by his anxious seal friend, Jyou. "Is she alive?" He asked his seal friend. Jyou quickly checked her pulse and nodded to the merman's relief.

"Please be okay, live…" He whispered to the redheaded woman.

Suddenly, something unexpected happened. Taichi felt something odd, warmth. He instinctively looked down and was awed. His orange scaled tail was replaced by legs..human legs! Smooth skin, he was awed at himself. He briefly forgot about the redhead before he heard her gasp.

"She's breathing!" Taichi exclaimed, delighted. "She's gonna be okay." He gently stroked her hair as she started to regain consciousness. Then his ears perked up at the sound of people talking and rushing. He dived in and discreetly watched as the redhead, who he learned his name was Sora, recovered enough to embrace her now relieved parents.

He smiled as he saw the family reunite. Now it was time to reunite with his own family under the sea. He watched as the legs transformed to a mertail and was slightly disappointed. But not for long. He just realized that he had transformed into a human at land. At land! This was something of a new discovery and he absolutely liked it.

However not everyone was happy with what had happened. When word got out over what he had done, many were outraged among the merfolk. He had been deemed a traitor and a selfish foolish boy. His parents may not have said it out loud but he was sure that they were beyond disappointed in him. Hikari looked at him with sadness at some points. Yamato and Mimi turned up their noses in disappointment. Even Daisuke was hesitant to join Tai or even speak up in his defense. Finally Tai decided that enough was enough. He couldn't live like this. He had to move on, and with his new discovery maybe he could make it in the human world.

One night he snuck out, swimming towards and towards the surface as fast. He dodged predators ready to eat him in these dark waters as he got closer. He swam as he could until he reached there. Exhausted he collapsed himself into the sandy shore and fell into a deep unconsciousness.

Sora was watching the sun rise this morning. Once again she hadn't been able to sleep just like she had trouble sleeping in the past few days ever since the incident. The incident where she had been surprised to see that she had been saved that fateful day. She was so grateful to be alive, to be fine but she wanted to know who had saved her life from the deep watery grave.

She wanted to meet her savior. Where was this mystery man? She needed a walk. Gathering her cat she headed off to the beach

The sun rays were rising and giving him warmth. He stirred into consciousness. He sat up and realized that he was in the sandy shores where he had placed her after rescuing her once upon a time. He then realized he was going to have to sit up. One foot first, then the second. That's how he did it in order to get the hang of it. He gave a fist pump in victory as he got the hang of it.

He couldn't wait to begin his life anew. But it was then that he realized something very distressing. He was alone. He didn't know anyone in this place, above the surface. How was he going to survive this place alone? His ears perked up as he heard voices. Then he realized something also distressing.

"SHIT!" He mentally screamed. He had only remembered now that nudity was frowned upon by humans. The voices were getting louder and he could see the shadows coming through. Quickly, he grabbed the closet thing for coverup. He had wanted to see her again...just not like this. He turned around as he saw a discarded sheet and ropes lying by the rocks. He walked as quickly as he could and grabbed the two items. Wrapping the sheet around his waist and tying it with the rope, he breathed in relief.

Then he saw a familiar cat walk towards him causing him to nearly tumble.

"Coco? Coco?" Sora called out. Tai looked up to meet face to face with her.

"Oh God, Coco, stop pestering him!" Sora called out as she grabbed the cat. "I'm so sorry about my cat. She's not like this normally." Her face was blushing red as she saw the state of this stranger. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I am." Taichi responded, nodding. "I am lost though. I'm….not from here though."

"Hey it's okay. We can help you." Sora said kindly, a warm smile on her face. "I'll get you home and we can talk about it. What's your name by the way?"

"Taichi." The former(?) merman spoke and he asked, "And what's yours?"

"Sora. Sora Takenouchi." As she led him to her home, the two exchanged a small smile. Maybe he wouldn't have to be alone anymore. Maybe now he could start a new life here. As long as he had her by his side to help him and maybe something more someday.

Author's Note : I am very proud of this prompt. Knew the moment I saw this theme wanted to tackle a genderbent Little Mermaid of sorts. However added a unique twist thanks to the recentish Disney/Pixar film Luca~ Also Tai doesn't have to give up his voice for legs! Win, win situation.

I hope that I can make a full fledged story based on this but for now I'm satisfied with this.

I don't own the characters. This won't be my only prompt for Day Three though. ^^ I've got something else since I couldn't decide which one I wanted to submit so why not both? Keep your eyes peeled, kay?
