A/N: This was the last bits we were writing until we lost interest in dealing with other stories. It was last touched on in 2020 and I made a few touch-ups since then. There were plenty more ideas we were wanting to do but never got to it. When we did discuss getting back to this, we lost most interest and had more stories to do. And yes, even more inventions. But sorry. We have moved on. And I do suggest you check out our recent stories as they have more quality.

By the way, we have one more writing section we haven't decided whether would go in or not. Or where it would go. And with all the hints, it would have culminated in this bonus section. So enjoy it once done here.

"What's going on over there?" Hiccup asks as they all land, seeing a massive commotion around Gobber's shop.

"Want to go check?" Thorve asks.

"Nah, I will check it out. You start with the young, and I will catch up when I am done," Hiccup says.

Thorve nods before patting Toothless's side and makes her walk away with the three babies following.

"You going to help her, dad?" Hiccup adds.

"Just don't get into trouble," Stoick warns, getting off Thorando and leading him away. The three little dragons following along like a gabble of kids.

"Right. Let's see what is up," Hiccup says, walking towards the shop with Blazesnap.

Blazesnap growls happily as he follows behind him. As Hiccup walks in, he sees Gobber working on a shiny new weapon with Fishlegs help. "What is going on?" Hiccup asks.

"Fishlegs and Meatlug have developed a new type of metal. Take a feel," Gobber says, handing him the sword, and Hiccup eyes widened for a moment before going back to normal.

'It can't be…but it is,' Hiccup thinks, examining and giving a few test swings before handing it back to Gobber. "A fine sword. Tell me, Fishlegs, how did you make this?" Hiccup asks before adding in his thoughts. 'Yes, how did you make steel?'

"Well…hum, that is a top-secret, Hiccup," Fishlegs was hesitant to say.

'Aka, from what I learned earlier today, you threw in a random combination of rocks and got the right combination. Something that took humans centuries of experimenting you discovered by accident,' Hiccup thinks before bringing out the sword he got from the island. "By the way, Gobber, can you do some maintenance on my new sword here?" Hiccup asks.

"Sure, no problem, just have to wait till I'm not so backed up with orders," Gobber says, taking the sword and gives it a cursory glance before freezing in place.

Hiccup shrugs. "Shouldn't be too hard. And Fishlegs, maybe you can bring whatever else you have of this metal to Thorve. She can probably make something amazing out of this," he says, smiling while swinging the new sword around.

"Hiccup…is this?" Gobber asks, sounding shocked.

"What is it Gobber?" the viking next in line asks as Goober unsheathes the sword, showing all its black metal blade.

"It is. This is the lost sword of the legendary Humongously Hotshot, the hero!" Gobber explains, and the crowd explodes in talks.

Hiccup blinks undeterred or even in playful confusion. "The who now Gobber?" he asks before smiling inwardly. 'Let everyone enjoy it.'

"Humongously Hotshot, the hero! The viking who near single-handedly completed quests like stealing the entire treasure of the dread pirate Fig the bloody. Or the time he rescued an entire village from the swarm of sea dragons!" Gobber started listing off the many tells of the viking's exploits.

'Sounds like one of the folk heroes in my previous life,' Hiccup thinks as many looked up to the sword in starry eyes.

"Gobber, change my order to polish the black shadow!" the viking at the front of the line calls. Then many more started to flood in with similar requests.

"Alright, I will leave it to you, Gobber. Fishlegs, with me and bring Meatlug," Hiccup informs.

"Yeah…sure," Fishleg nervously follows.

After getting far away from everyone, Hiccup turned to Fishlegs. "You have no idea the mixture to make that metal do you?" Hiccup asks.

Fishlegs chuckles nervously and pokes his fingers together. "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"Fishlegs. I highly doubt Meatlug can keep producing that metal without more of that combination of rocks," Hiccup points out. Fishlegs looks away, not wanting to look Hiccup in the eyes. "Come on, mount up. We are going to the island and going to figure out this combination. And yes, that is an order as the commander of the alliance's riders," Hiccup informs, getting on Blazesnap.

Meatlug growls up to Fishlegs, and he gives a pet to her head. "Okay. Let's go, Meatlug," he says calmly and gets on her saddle.

"Lead the way Fishlegs. I am putting you in charge of this assignment," Hiccup informs, patting Blazesnap's neck softly.

"Alright, girl…let's go," Fishlegs says very nervously.

So off the two flew Hiccup inwardly smirking as he found an excuse to let his dad and Thorve handle the baby thunderdrums without him.

Thorve frowns and crosses her arms, annoyed. "I…am going…to kill him…very…slowly…and with explosives."

"Hey, what is with all the Thunderdrum roars?" Astrid asks, walking up.

Thorve slowly turns to her with the same expression. "Don't…push me…" she mutters while a baby thunderdrum flies around them and then landing on her head.

"Hiccup made a break for it?" Astrid asks.

Throve's eye twitches at the sound of that.

"Well, it's not the weirdest thing. Gobber and others seem to be doing some ritual in town. Know anything about that?" Astrid asks, pointing behind her.

"No…leave me alone to suffer…" she seethed.

"Come here," Astrid says, taking one of the Thunderdrum kids and pets it, making it relax in her hands. "Want some help?" Astrid asks.

Thorve slowly falls over onto her side and closes her eyes.

"Alright, you rest. I will handle this," Astrid says, gathering up the other two.

Thorve sighs deeply and snuggles up to see if she can get some sleep.

Hiccup and Fishlegs dismount their dragons, and Hiccup takes note of the beach they had landed on. "This is the place," Fishlegs informs, looking a bit less nervous.

"Alright, let's start gathering up samples and see what we have," Hiccup says, starting to observe Fishlegs as he went about his style of searching and collecting. Blazesnap comes up to Hiccup's view inquisitively as Fishlegs returns with all the samples he could find. 'Limestone…sandstone…and iron ore. It could…no, I am sure,' Hiccup thinks. "Alright, Fishlegs. We know a combination of these created it. How should we go about trying to figure out which?" Hiccup asks, and it hits Fishlegs.

'Hiccup is testing my abilities,' Fishlegs thought, getting nervous again. "Well…um…I guess we take as many as we can and start testing each combination to see which creates it?" Fishlegs asks.

Hiccup smiles. "Yep. Now we need to figure out how many to grab at once for each."

"Alright, Meatlug," Fishlegs calls her over so that she can start carrying rocks in the saddlebags.

'I can't let Fishlegs on that I know…should let him fail a few times before the right combination,' Hiccup contemplates as he fills up Blazesnap's saddlebags as well. "I think that is enough for now," Hiccup says, pulls out a journal, and writes something in it. On the top of the page he was writing in was the title, 'Reorganizing the dragon riders.' Hiccup then wrote near the bottom, 'Fishlegs evaluation,' before making notes under it.

"Hiccup? Are you coming, or do I need to go on ahead?" Fishlegs asks from on top of Meatlug.

"You heard him, boy," Hiccup says, patting his nightmare's side, getting him to take to the skies. "I wonder how Thorve and Toothless are dealing with the thunderdrums?" Hiccup questions.

Thorve hums happily, hugging Toothless's head in her sleep while the dragon looks very unamused.

"Hang in there, girl," Astrid says as Stoick was feeding the three thunderdrums and Thornado. "So chief, what do you think?" Astrid asks.

"I had my doubts, but Hiccup and Thorve were right in the end," Stoick admits, getting one of the babies to do a trick before being fed more.

Toothless growls over to them. 'Of course, silly hatchlings. Hiccup tends to be like that.'

"Chief, what should we do?" Gobber asks, referring to the sword he had brought back.

"The black shadow is Hiccup's by right," Stoick simply states, only half-hearted hiding his pride in his son for finding it.

Gobber chuckles and slaps a hand down on the chief's shoulder. "Oh, don't try and hide it. You wanted this sword when you saw it."

"Maybe a moment, but my son has needed a new weapon," Stoick says.

"And you wanted to see him fight front and center…" Gobber then thinks about it with a hook on his chin. "Maybe a dueling match?"

"How are the rest of the tribe reacting to the news?" Stoick asks, smirking.

Gobber laughs. "Green with envy as they are sick on the high seas."

"Maybe it will motivate them to work harder," Stoick chuckles.

Astrid shakes her head while petting Thorve's head. "Hiccup better hurry back, or it could be a war for the sword," she whispers, smiling.

"Gobber, Hiccup, and Fishlegs have returned, but they headed straight to your shop saying they had too much important work to do," a viking says, running in.

"Oh, boy. I best go see him before a feud starts over the black shadow," Gobber says, heading out.

Thorve groans and snuggles her head into Toothless's chest. "Warm lizard."

"Didn't you come back with a new ax?" Stoick asks, looking at Astrid after Gobber had left.

"It's moon shadow," Astrid confirms.

Stoick says nothing and nods as if expecting it.

"Should we get more gronckles?" Hiccup asks Fishlegs.

Fishlegs hums while he sorts the rocks. "Maybe. Plus, it would be easier on poor little Meatlug and her stomach," he says before giving a little chin scratch to the big girl.

"Should we get other riders as well?" Hiccup asks.

Fishlegs look a little concerned before looking at Hiccup. "Best to figure this out first before giving the plans to everyone else. Who knows what they can make on the wrong mixture."

"I see," Hiccup says, scratching the side of his head as Gobber came in. "Excellent timing. We are working out what was made. I am going to get a few more gronckles. Stay here and help Fishlegs start," Hiccup says, rushing off past him before Gobber could get a word in.

"Right…thanks…you're welcome," Gobber speaks as his mind catches up to what is going on.

"These are the samples we got," Fishlegs starts, showing Gobber, who immediately recognized the iron.

"That's what you made before…are you closer to figuring it out?" Gobber asks as he wonders what they can make with these metals.

"We are about to get started," Fishlegs informs as Gobber looks over all the samples they had.

"So trial and error, then lad?" Gobber asks.

Fishlegs nod while gathering some rocks and writes down what colors they are and how many to keep track. "Hey, Gobber?" Fishlegs says.

"Ai lad, what is it?" Gobber asks.

"I think Hiccup is testing me in some way," Fishlegs says.

Gobber starts to smirk. "You never know with Hiccup lad. You have to see whatever signs you can and use them to your advantage. Who knows? If you are being tested, maybe you can improve by telling him you know."

Soon Hiccup returned with five gronckles and a few vikings. "Alright. Start making a temporary shelter for them. Gobber will oversee. Fishlegs, have you started?" Hiccup asks, giving out instructions.

Fishlegs smiles while pulling over some bags of rocks. "Yep. I even have a list of rocks to use. Meatlug has already started on the first."

"Alright, what combination?" Hiccup asks as they review as Gobber makes a temporary shelter with the help Hiccup brought.

After several hours, Hiccup was standing in front of the board. Candlelight illuminates it as the sun had set long ago, and Gobber and Fishlegs had called it a night. Hiccup stayed up, however, as he kept writing down combinations while dozens upon dozens were crossed out on one side of the writing board.

"Hiccup!" Thorve yells, entering the workshop.

"Wondered when you would come over Thorve," Hiccup answers.

Thorve grabs his shoulders and spins him around to face him. "You left me alone with a bunch of squabbling kids on my own!"

"You were the best for the job. You have a way with younger dragons," Hiccup assures.

"Hiccup…" Thorve growls.

"I also have a new project for us," Hiccup says, drawing her attention to the board.

"Don't try to distract me. You ar…" Thorve slows down as she looks at the board, now thinking it over. 'Recreating a metal lighter than iron, but stronger.' Thorve reads and starts thinking that over and what she could do with that. Hiccup smirks while slipping away before choking as Thorve yanks on his shirt to pull him back. "Where are you going?" Thorve questions, still looking at the board.

"To get a drink and maybe something to eat as I haven't taken a break since starting," Hiccup says.
