TWO NIGHTS, THREE DAYS
A/N: Hey y'all, how's it going out there? I've completed my pilgrimage to Oahu from the east coast, and all I can say is, wow. I can now envision so much of what I'm trying to write from actual memory which is so cool and will hopefully enrich the story as I go. This is a rather short chapter, but my entire vision has been eluding me since my return and since I'm happy with what I have to this point and it's been a bit too long IMO I decided to post an update.
This chapter picks up right where the last one left off, so a brief reread might be in order.

Doing It Island Style
Against some very sexy, very distracting odds Kate and Lucy actually made it to breakfast on time, and their meal was amazing. The hidden gem of a restaurant became an instant favorite for the pair, so much so that they made dinner reservations when they paid their bill.
"Gosh, now I guess you're stuck with me until at least dinner," Lucy playfully smirked as they approached her car.
"At least," Kate smiled, "and if you're really good I'll let you have dessert."
Lucy's jaw dropped as the words hit her, her eyes traveling the length of the impossibly sexy body in front of her.
Don't do it Lucy, control yourself.
"Kate," Lucy warned, the single syllable coming out in a throaty growl.
"Yeah?" the blonde smirked as she approached the passenger side door, waiting for the cute little drawl to manifest in the rattled brunette's reply.
Pausing a bit, hands balled into fists as she fought the temptation, Lucy thought, "Screw it", and launched herself at the smirking blonde.
Instead of an adorably stumbling reply, Kate was surprised to find herself swiftly pinned against the car, gasping as strong hands pulled her in for the most glorious meeting of lips and tongue. Groaning as she melted into the sweet oblivion of Lucy's embrace, Kate slid her hands up the brunette's back to pull her even closer. "So fucking delicious," Lucy purred between kisses, her hands stroking the beautiful cheekbones as her lips danced across the mouth that she knew she could never get tired of kissing.
The gentle assault was wildly erotic for Kate, who knew that she could never tire of the way the gorgeous brunette's touch made her feel. A simple handshake had rocked her to her core, and that was before she had experienced the sheer pleasure of Lucy's exquisite lovemaking. All she wanted to do for the rest of her vacation was stay in bed making sweet, sexy memories with the woman who had made her feel alive again after such a long and deep dive into desolation, so the sexually charged explosion of Lucy's provocative actions and throaty whispers had her weak in the knees. Grateful for the support of the warm steel at her back, Kate wasn't even surprised to realize that she was more than willing to comply with whatever Lucy wanted to do as long as she kept touching her.
Lucy, however, had other plans. Abruptly pulling away with a self-satisfied smirk on her face, she left the blonde trembling against the door and rounded the vehicle to climb in. Starting the engine, she lowered the passenger window and asked, "Are you coming?"
"Another few minutes of that and I would have," the blonde mumbled with a shuddering breath, "what brought that on?"
"Just wanted to sample the dessert menu," Lucy winked.
"Ok then," Kate said a little too brightly, her cheeks on fire as she took her seat and struggled to sound normal, "let's get this sightseeing thing out of the way so we can get past that pesky dinner part. What's on our agenda?"
"That depends on you. Was there anything else on your must see list for Oahu?"
"Not really," Kate admitted, her eyes moving up and down the taut little body in the driver's seat, "I've already seen the most beautiful part of the island."
"And if you behave you'll get to see more of it," Lucy replied, biting her lip as her traitorous body hummed in response, "but for now I have a few places I really want to take you." When Kate smirked, Lucy shook her head and corrected, "Not take, like that, but show. I'll show you everything you need to know according to Lucy," the drawling brunette continued, irked that the blonde could rattle her with just a look, "then you and I can go and take more of Trig's money before dinner."
"Far be it for me to deny Coral the opportunity to win her money back," Kate laughed, excited to see Lucy's friends again and maybe learn a little more about the alluring brunette, "when do you think we should go?"
"Coral will be there after ten,' Lucy explained, "that's when the tourists usually invade her favorite surf spot. Trig will get off at noon, he's usually there right after work, so any time after that. Lunch first?"
"Sure," Kate replied, "at the bar or?"
"I was thinking sushi," Lucy admitted, "unless you don't like it, then-"
"I love it," Kate smiled, thinking of the last person who had tried to take her for sushi and of the lengths she had gone to in order to avoid that particular meal, "and I haven't had a chance to try it here yet."
"Okay then," Lucy responded with a smile of her own, pulling up an Oahu guide app and selecting "Grand Circle Island Tour" from the menu.
Kate laughed out loud asking, "Seriously?"
"Yep, best way to see the island when you don't have a lot of time," the brunette said as she reached across the blonde to open the glove compartment, only to curse when she realized she had left her sunglasses in her desk.
"What are you looking for?" Kate asked, a hint of a smile pulling at her lips as she watched the adorable scowl march across that gorgeous face.
"My sunglasses," Lucy said, "I hate driving without them but it seems that I either left them in my desk or at the bar or-"
"Here, wear these," Kate interjected, taking her own off of her face and offering them to the surprised brunette, "they look better on you anyhow."
Smiling as she accepted the sunglasses, her mind went back to that morning on the balcony when Kate had returned from the beach. A single glance at the woman in her passenger seat had her growling, "If you don't stop looking at me like that this tour will begin and end on the seventh floor."
"Promise?" the blonde responded, unfazed by the threat.
"Tempting," Lucy smirked, "but I want you to see more than just the inside of a hotel room."
"Fine," Kate said with an exaggerated sigh, "take me around the island, force feed me the sights."
"Did you say feed?" Lucy asked, smiling as she decided, "first stop, Leonard's for some malasadas."
"Some what?"
"Yummy goodness," Lucy teased, "you're gonna love it."
Kate soon learned what a malasada was, and she had to admit that Lucy had been right about the sugary filled pastry. "These are so messy, but they're so good," Kate groaned, licking the sugar from her fingers after she downed the chocolate filled treat. The silence was palpable as Lucy watched the blonde's nimble tongue dart across her fingertips, eyes dark with desire as she wondered why she had insisted on this stupid public stupid outing when she could have stayed in bed with that tongue working its magic on her instead.
"Next up, Hanauma Bay," Lucy squeaked as she tore her eyes away from the enticing sight, her smoldering glance briefly colliding with the blonde's before she put the sunglasses back on her face.
"You ok Lucy?" Kate asked, a hint of concern in her voice.
"Totally awesome," the brunette abruptly answered, and both of them knew she was anything but.
Kate smiled at the obvious distress in Lucy's tone, loving that her actions had caused that reaction. There was no doubt that Lucy wanted exactly what she wanted, which was to go back to the hotel and forget that clothing was a thing, but at the same time she also cared enough to make sure that they truly experienced the best of the island together.
"So how did you, a resident who has barely seen the island, so readily have an app prepared to guide our tour?" A curious Kate asked.
"When I first got here and started my new job, my IT guy thought I was struggling with work/life balance, so he offered to show me the island," Lucy explained, "but when he realized that I wasn't really enthusiastic about it, he installed the app on my phone for when I was ready."
Nodding in understanding, the blonde asked, "How long ago was that?"
"Roughly six months," Lucy admitted, "and to be honest, I haven't really done much or made any friends since I got here."
"What about your friends at the bar?"
"They're more accurately acquaintances," Lucy replied, "I only see them at the bar."
"Oh," Kate nodded.
"Does that surprise you?" Lucy asked.
"I guess it does," the blonde admitted, "they seem like really good friends, and it's obvious they care about you."
"They are who I need them to be?" Lucy began, her own understanding of her behavior since moving to the island still a thing she couldn't quite explain. "I just, I have a life that I too, occasionally, need to escape from. My relationships there are real, but superficial."
"I get that," Kate replied, thinking of her own recent dalliance with escapism, "but I am surprised that none of them offered to take you sightseeing."
"They did," Lucy shrugged, "but I said no."
"And now?" Kate asked, her voice a whisper as she waited for the reply.
"Now I want to go, because it means I get to see it all for the first time with you."
Kate was beyond flattered by the admission from Lucy, and now she was excited to see everything the brunette had planned for them. The fact that she was happy to spend her day off taking a tour that she'd never bothered to take for herself warmed the blonde's heart, the simple act making her feel valued in a way that was as unfamiliar as it was appreciated. If she were being honest, she would have to admit that she hadn't felt this loved or cared for since she'd lost her brother, and she was still slightly in awe of the depth of feeling this virtual stranger evoked in her. Knowing that Noah would have loved to see her so happy, she decided to behave and enjoy her one full day with Lucy. An enormous smile split her face as she anticipated tonight, but for now she was content to sit back and take in the sights as Lucy drove. The beautiful landscape simply blew her mind as they headed into the valley that housed the Byodo-In Temple, the predominantly bright red architecture striking against the dappled green of the Ko'olau mountains.
From the impressive grounds of the temple to the crazy island formation known as The Chinaman's Hat, it was clear that Lucy had indeed chosen the best way to see the island in the limited amount of time they had. Despite her fear of the ocean she had pulled into every shoreline stop on the tour, even going so far as to walk to the water's edge in Shark's Cove.
"It's beautiful," Kate breathed, hand shielding her eyes from the sun as she looked out over the popular snorkeling spot that was teeming with people.
"Yeah," Lucy agreed, her eyes nervously shifting from the bay in front of her to the blonde beside her, "absolutely stunning."
"Thank you," Kate said, placing a hand on Lucy's shoulder as she turned to smile at her, "I know this isn't your thing, and I am truly grateful that you not only brought me here, but that you also got out of the car and walked down the beach with me."
"You're welcome," the brunette replied, her voice strained as her body overreacted to the gentle touch.
"Let's get you off this beach," Kate suggested, misinterpreting Lucy's stiff posture and strained voice as her fear response to the ocean.
"Yeah let's do that," Lucy mumbled, her eyes briefly closing in relief when the warm hand was removed.
Am I always going to react like that when she touches me?
"We better head for the bar next," Kate decided as they walked up the gentle slope to the parking area, "Coral needs a chance to win her money back before I leave. You and I both know that you're the one that will have to hear about it forever if we don't."
"We can't have that," Lucy dejectedly agreed, the bubble they'd been living in burst by the reality of the blonde's words.
"Hey," Kate said, moving close to place a hand on either side of Lucy against the car, effectively stopping her from opening the door, "look at me."
Still facing the car, Lucy rolled her eyes heavenward and took a deep breath, then spun to face the worried blonde.
Raising a hand to lovingly cup a cheek, Kate asked, "What's wrong?"
Two nights, three days.
"Nothing," Lucy whispered, shivering in response to the gentle touch. Except you're touching me and I can feel it in every part of my body and you're so close that all I can see and smell and feel is you and if you don't back up I'm going to just say screw it and throw myself at you again.
"You seem upset," Kate insisted, "and I-"
Overwhelmed by the assault on her senses and no longer able to resist, Lucy lunged forward and captured the rest of the words as they tumbled from those tempting lips. Groaning when she felt Kate respond, the brunette buried her hands in the silky blonde tresses as a warm tongue invaded her mouth, desperately increasing the contact when the long legs parted and she was happily trapped between them and the unyielding steel of the door.
Reluctantly pulling away, Kate sucked in a deep breath and said, "If we keep this up I'm going to take you right here, and as much as both of us would enjoy that, I think we can agree that this is not the time or the place for it."
"Agreed," Lucy stammered, her labored breathing unnervingly sexy as she pulled Kate in for one more deliciously lingering kiss, "but the only way we're going to remain decent is if we keep our hands to ourselves."
"Hands to ourselves," the blonde agreed as she straightened and turned away, "for now."
