A/N: It's not mine.
I have no beta.
BPOV
Here I was enjoying some much-needed bonding time with my mate when Jasper informs me that my grandpa was wigging out over our extracurricular activities. It really sucks because we were just getting to the good stuff. At least Jasper made me cum.
I took another quick shower so I wouldn't reek like sex when I went to talk to Caius. That would have been embarrassing. I have no need for that in my life.
"It's going to be fine, Bella," Jasper said as he wrapped his arms around me. I snuggled up to him for a moment before taking a deep breath.
"Let's go do this," I said trying my best to sound brave.
"Bella, he's not angry. He's more grossed out than anything," he said trying to soothe my worries.
"Yea, because that makes it so much better," I groaned as I walked hand-in-hand with Jasper down the narrow corridor. The trek to Caius office took a while partly because I was intentionally taking my time and partly because the castle was frigging huge.
When we finally made it to his office, we stood outside the door for a moment while I rustled up some courage. Jasper patiently waited for me. He knew how nervous I was to find out what Caius was going to say.
A moment later and the door opened quickly and there stood my grandpa looking very annoyed and giving Jasper the stink eye. "Please do come in and sit down," Caius said gesturing to the chairs that were situated in front of his desk.
I traded looks with Jasper and walked in and took a seat. Jasper pulled his chair closer to mine and sat down. I looked around the office while trying to calm my nerves. I wasn't ashamed of what my mate and I had done, but I was nervous about Caius being upset with me.
"Bella, you look like you're going to implode. I am not upset with you, so please try to calm down," Caius said as he patted my head while walking around his desk to take a seat.
"I told you," Jasper said with a smirk.
I gave him a dirty look. Men are always so smug. "I know."
"Bella, I wanted to let you know that you are going to have to sleep in another room for the next day or so. I am having your room soundproofed," Caius told me. I let his words sink in as I looked over at Jasper. He and Caius were grinning like idiots. They thought my embarrassment was funny. I take that as a challenge.
"Oh alright, Caius, that's a good plan. Jasper and I were planning on going hard at it, and I know how delicate a vampire's ears are. It's probably for the best that you do not hear me screaming Jasper's name while he and I are playing," I said as I sat back and watched Caius's eyes bug out of his head. I do enjoy turning the tables.
Jasper looked at me with pride as he laughed. "Well done, Bella," he said in congratulations.
"This is what I get when I have a granddaughter who's just like me," Caius mumbled.
"You love me and you know it, old man," I teased him. I was pleased that I was so much like him. It made me ridiculously happy. Also, it gave me someone to blame when I got into trouble.
He rolled his eyes at my teasing. "I do love you which is why I have chosen to soundproof your room. Until it is finished, I ask that the two of you refrain from any promiscuous activities until the room is finished. Do it for no other reason than that of my sanity."
"Sure, well wait to have sex but I will not refrain from having a heavy make-out session with Jasper. I've waited long enough for him," I said.
Caius rubbed his hand over his face. "Fine, you've got yourself a deal."
I got up and went over to him and gave him a big hug. "I love you, grandpa," I laughed and went over to take Jasper's hand in mine and we quickly left before Caius could respond.
"Bella, we've talked about this. Stop doing things that may get me killed," Jasper reminded me.
"Relax, Jasper, Caius actually likes you. It might be because you can be as bloodthirsty as he is. Besides, he's not altogether unreasonable," I said as I continued to drag Jasper around with me.
"Bella, where are you dragging me to?"
"I have no idea," I said. "Where's Emmett?" I haven't seen the big lug since I kicked his ass in Mario Kart.
"He's found himself a companion to hang out with," Jasper said hesitantly refusing to look into my eyes.
"So Emmett's getting laid, huh?" I blurted out.
"Yes, and be thankful you do not have vampire hearing right now," Jasper said with a grimace.
"Ah, I always imagined Emmett being the type to go all Neanderthal on his companions," I admitted. "I bet he's the screamer," I laughed.
Jasper looked at me like he was disturbed by the very notion. "You have no clue how right you are or how grossed out I am."
"Jasper, if a vampire could turn a shade of green, you would have already," I giggled. Jasper looked nauseous. "With your hearing, you can probably hear hundreds of people copulating at the same time."
"Bella, for all that's holy, could you please stop talking about it," he begged.
"I'll let it go for now. I'm hungry. Where do we go to get me some sustenance?"
"I'll take you to the kitchens. The Volturi have a chef on site that cooks for all of their human members," Jasper offered as he began to guide me down the hall toward the elevator. "The kitchen is on the bottom floor."
"They have a chef? That is so not fair," I grumbled as we both stepped into the elevator. Jasper reached out and pressed the B on the panel. The elevator gave a small shudder and began to go down. According to the panel, the castle had five floors which means it was much larger than I had originally thought.
The elevator stopped moving and the door quietly slid open. The was a large corridor opposite the elevator and Jasper guided me down it. We finally made it to the kitchen and I was shocked at what I saw.
There was a professional kitchen with expensive appliances and gleaming countertops. The Viking stove was massive and had a double oven, six burners, and a central grill. It was a gorgeous cobalt blue with stainless steel accents.
The countertops were made of white marble that looked like there was a blue vein running throughout them. The cabinets were bright white and the backsplash was made of blue and white Greek tiles. "Lord have mercy, this kitchen is a wet dream of any cook or chef," I said in awe. This was just like the kitchen I had always dreamed of having.
"Should I be concerned with the lust your vibrating with?" Jasper asked me.
"You don't understand, Jasper. Anyone who loves to cook or even bake would be drooling over this kitchen. My God, it's a chef's wet dream," I told him as I lovingly ran my hand across the marble counter.
"You're right. I don't understand and never will," he said with a smile. "I thought you were hungry," he said as he snapped his fingers in front of my face to get my attention.
I shook my head trying to break the trance I was in. "Uh, yea, I was. I'm going to scrounge up some food."
I made my way over to the massive side-by-side refrigerator. I pulled it open and began to rummage around inside it. I found some fresh parsley, cubed pancetta, a wedge of fresh Parmesan cheese, and some eggs. I pulled them out of the fridge and went looking for some pasta which I found in the massive walk-in pantry.
I found a pasta pot and put some water on to boil. While the water was heating up, I cracked a few eggs into a bowl and beat them until they were a pale yellow. Next, I grabbed a hand grater and went to work on grating the cheese. I followed that up by chopping the parsley and setting it aside.
I pulled out a stainless steel frying pan and began to fry up the pancetta until it was golden brown and crispy. I then removed the pancetta with a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel in order to drain off some of the fat. I noticed that the pasta water was at a rolling boil, so I added plenty of salt and dumped the spaghetti into the pot.
Jasper was sitting on a stool watching my every move. "What are you making?"
"Well, I figured that I could make spaghetti carbonara. I usually use bacon because pancetta is pricey, but since they had some in the fridge, I decided to indulge a bit." The kitchen already smelled amazing, and I couldn't wait to sit down and eat.
I tested the spaghetti and it was perfectly al dente. I pulled the strainer pot up, allowing the spaghetti to drain. Once most of the water was drained out, I dumped the spaghetti into the frying pan. I put the stove on medium heat and began to toss the pasta. I added the pancetta, garlic, and Parmesan and tossed it all well. I then poured some of the beaten egg into the pan and then proceeded to toss the pasta even more. I ladled in some of the pasta water and continued to toss the spaghetti so that it was evenly coated and none of the eggs became scrambled. I repeated the process until it produced a creamy sauce. I tossed in the remaining Parmesan and parsley and plated up some for myself.
I sat down next to Jasper and took a bite of my dinner. The moan I released had Jasper laughing his ass off. I refused to allow it to bother me. I was eating the best carbonara I had ever made.
"I'm sorry for laughing, Bella, but the emotions you are sending me and then hearing you moan like you were having the best sex ever was just too damn funny," he said with a laugh.
"I would apologize but I'm not even sorry. I feel bad for you. You will never know how good this is," I replied as I took another big bite of carbonara. I didn't know whether it was the pancetta that made it so much better or just the fact that I made it in Italy or maybe a combination of the two. It was just so damn good.
I took my sweet old time eating my food. I had made enough for leftovers which I put in a large container and put in the fridge. I was pleasantly full and very sated.
"Bella, you're killing me with those emotions there. I'm starting to feel threatened by your spaghetti," Jasper groaned. I laughed. It was so ludicrous.
"Jasper, I just had a foodgasm. There's no reason to feel threatened. You sate me in other ways," I purred as I rubbed up against him. "I need to head back to my room so that I could brush my teeth."
"As you wish," he replied while offering his arm for me to take.
On the way back to my room, I started to think about Esme. I haven't seen her since the trial and wanted to know how she's doing. "Jasper, how is Esme? Have you heard anything?"
"Esme is doing great actually. She hasn't felt anything for Carlisle for several years, so she doesn't care what happens to him. Emmett and I spoke to her briefly and she is actually happy. She loves being here and has decided to stay," he told me.
"I'm glad she's happy. She deserves all the best things. I'm not surprised by her wanting to stay. She finally gets to be around real vampires for a change no offense to you or Emmett," I explained.
We finally got back to my room and we noticed the door was wide open and several men were inside. "I forgot Caius was having the sound proofing put in," I admitted sheepishly.
"You forgot?" he repeated with a smile. "We just spoke to him a little over an hour ago."
"Oh, shut it. I was distracted," I explained with a laugh.
"Hey, Bella, Jasper," Alec called out to us from down the corridor. He flashed over and I shook my head at his sudden appearance directly in front of me. "Uh, sorry, Bella," Alec said sheepishly while nervously running his fingers through his hair and messing it up.
"That's all right. I'm getting used to it."
"Master Caius said that you ran away from him before he could have one of us guard members show you your temporary room. I have been sent to do so now. Also, he said all of your things have already put into the new room," Alec explained.
"Okay then, lead the way," I said as Jasper and I began to follow along with him. My temporary room was all the way down the corridor at the opposite end.
"The workers should be done in a day or so. Caius pays them good money which in turn makes them want to work efficiently," Alec said.
"That's not too long to wait. I'll just occupy my time until then," I said suggestively while staring at Jasper.
"And that is my cue to get the hell out of here," Alec said as he ran off at vampire speed.
Jasper and I walked into my faux room and looked around. It was still luxurious and had a pastel color palette. "Is every room like this," I asked not expecting an answer.
"I have seen several rooms here and they are all beautifully decorated. To give you a better idea, Esme has been raving over the person who did the decorating," he told me.
"Wow! That's high praise coming from the queen of decorating herself."
I walked into the bathroom and found my toiletry bag sitting on the counter near the sink. I quickly brushed my teeth and rinsed my mouth when I heard my dad's ringtone. I pulled it out of my back pocket and answered it. "Hello?"
"Hey, Bells, I wanted to call and let you know what's going on," he said.
"What's up, dad?" I asked as I walked back into the bedroom and sat down on the bed next to Jasper.
"I went to the station and spoke with Renee. Chris informed me that she tried to fight the arresting officer and has been screaming for me to let her out," he snorted. "She actually tried to bed the bars on her cell in order to get out."
"Why am I not surprised?" I was so over Renee and her never-ending drama. She's finally getting what she deserves, and I'm not even a little sorry about it.
"There's more. Phil called the station while I was there, and you are going to believe what he told me," my dad hinted.
"What did she do this time?" I asked knowing full well that it was going to be bad.
"Phil told me that he divorced Renee a few years ago. In fact, he told me that he never caught her in bed with another man like she told us. He actually walked in on her snorting cocaine."
I just shook my head. Renee lies about everything, so I wasn't shocked. I kind of doubted what she told us anyway. Her track record of lying is pretty big."You're right, dad. I do believe it."
"I knew you would. Now, her arraignment is first thing Monday morning. I spoke with Judge Harhutt just a few minutes ago. Your mom is claiming that she had permission to be in your house. I just informed the judge that Renee disowned you five years ago. Let's just say that he was not impressed. I got the idea that he's going to set her bail pretty high because he thinks she's a flight risk," he explained.
"She is a flight risk. I'm glad she's in the tank. That's where she should be. Maybe she can get some help for her drug issues, but even so, I want nothing to do with her," I reminded him.
"I know, Bells. I've got to go. The amount of paperwork I have to do just for this case alone is insane."
"OK, dad, I'll talk to you later." I hung up and leaned back against Jasper.
"Are you okay?" he asked as he rubbed my arms.
I looked up at him and smiled. "I'm perfectly fine," I said as I reached up and pulled him down so that I could reach his delectable lips. Jasper and I kissed and I allowed myself to drown in Jasper and how he makes my body sing.
Renee and her damn drama were already forgotten.
