Instead of waiting for my room to be finished getting soundproofed, I spent a great deal of time with Jasper in his room. We didn't have sex due to my agreement with Caius but we did have a great many make-out sessions.
The things Jasper can do with his tongue are mind-blowing. Its icy coldness felt so good against my skin. The feel of it against my clit never ceased to send shivers down my spine while making me feel the most intense pleasure I have ever felt.
Jasper brought me to climax more times than I was able to keep count of. No matter how many times I begged him, he refused to allow me to reciprocate. He kept assuring me that he wanted to wait until we were able to make love in the privacy of my soundproofed bedroom where no one will be able to interrupt us.
I was losing patience waiting around for my room to be done. I was eager to wrap my lips around Jasper's hard cock and take my sweet time getting acquainted with it. His dick was huge, and I just couldn't wait to play show and tell with it.
Besides my fun times with my mate, I got to see Emmett for a bit when he finally decided to come up for some air. The smug grin he was sporting due to his sexual activities was the fuel to many sex jokes made about him. The ham laughed along good-naturedly and even joined in on teasing himself.
I asked him if his female companion was his mate, and he quickly denied it. Emmett confessed to me that he wasn't ready for a mate since he had wasted his entire vampire existence on that whore, Rosalie. Emmett felt like he needed to enjoy his time as a bachelor vampire and not worry about lifelong commitments and such.
"Bella, from the moment I woke up from my transformation, everything has been about that icy bitch. It was always about what she wanted or what she needed, and I did my best to meet her needs. Nothing I did was ever good enough for her though. Now that I'm rid of her, I am free to be me and do things for myself for a change," he admitted while being uncharacteristically serious.
"I get it, Emmett. Now is the time for you to spread your wings and only worry about yourself. You deserve to be happy. Just promise me that you won't allow what that bitch did to you taint your idea of having a mate. When the right woman comes along, you're going to know it, and she will treat you like a king," I said giving him a brief hug. I had no idea how the poor guy managed to stay married to such a bitch. I had always hated the way she treated him and hit him all the time.
Not too long after I had my conversation with Emmett, I bumped into Esme. I was happy to see her and even happier to see how much more relaxed she was. The shadow that had been in her eyes was long gone, and she smiled in genuine happiness.
"How are you doing, Esme?" I asked as I walked over to the couch she was sitting on and plopped down right next to her.
"Oh, Bella, I'm doing wonderfully. I haven't ever felt this much peace in my whole life including when I was human," she told me as she put her magazine down on the end table that was near her.
"I'm glad you're doing well. Have you deiced on what you're going to do?" I asked.
I watched as she looked away quickly and seemed a little nervous. "I'm staying in Volterra," she replied quietly.
"That's great. I think it will be good for you to be here and to see what normal vampires do," I said.
"Being here for this short amount of time has really helped me see how dysfunctional the Cullen coven was and what a bad coven leader Carlisle was. It's been a real eye-opening experience for me."
I had a feeling there was more to it than what she was telling me. "Esme, I can tell you're hiding something. I'm not going to bother you about it. You can tell me when you're ready. I just want you to know that you have my support, and I will always be available should you need someone to talk to or to just go shopping or whatever."
She reached over and gave me a hug. "Bella, you are an angel. Thank you for not pushing me. I'm not ready to talk about it, but just know that it isn't anything bad. It's more like I'm afraid to jinx it," she explained.
We spoke for a few more minutes until our conversation was interrupted by my dad calling me. I politely excused myself and answered the phone. I was waiting for him to update me on Renee's arraignment.
"Hi, Dad!" I said.
"Hi, Bells, how are you doing?" he asked. I could hear people speaking in the background and knew he was still at the police station.
"I'm doing great, dad. What's going on?"
"Boy, do I have a story to tell you," he started with a chuckle. "Renee's arraignment was this morning. I don't know how she does it, but she managed to even turn the court into a damn circus."
"What did she do now?" I asked realizing that I seem to be asking him that same question a lot lately.
"Where should I start? There's a lot to tell," he told me.
"Start at the beginning and don't leave anything out," I told him.
"You got it. Bear with me. It's a long story. First thing this morning, my deputy went to bring her some food. When he unlocked the cell to put her food tray down on the small table, she tried to rush him. She literally thought she could take my six-foot-five deputy out and make a run for it," he said sounding amused and annoyed at the same time.
"Are you serious? Renee is all of five foot nothing and she tried to tackle a man who was more than twice her size? What happened next," I asked in shock.
"It gets worse. In the scuffle, if you could call it that, she threw her breakfast tray at my deputy covering him in oatmeal and hot coffee. Officer Chris and I ran in to put a stop to it. Chris took care of Mark while I had the distinct pleasure of dealing with Renee. And what a joy that was," he said sarcastically. My dad hates Renee. He always tries to hide his hatred so I wouldn't know, but I'm not blind.
"Was Deputy Mark alright?" I asked hoping he hadn't been injured.
"He'll be fine. The coffee was very hot so he was burned. His face, neck, and chest are burned pretty badly. He had to be rushed to the emergency room to get treatment. He's off work for a few weeks until the burns heal."
"Good God, dad, was the coffee from McDonald's?" I asked.
"Yes, it was. Our coffee pot at the station burned out last night, and Chris was supposed to bring another one but forgot. He stopped by McDonald's on his way in and grabbed everyone a coffee as well as some breakfast."
"I'm glad he's okay but I wish that hadn't happened. So what else did she do?"
"I cuffed Renee who proceeded to call me every name in the book. She kept fighting and screaming about the unfair treatment she was getting and that she didn't do anything wrong."
"She's still claiming to be innocent? I'm sorry to say it, dad, but it just sounds like the drugs have fried her brain even more. Let's be honest here. She wasn't using a full deck already. The drugs have just made it much worse," I said in disgust. Renee was always slightly mental. Now, it seems she has finally gone over the deep end.
"You have no idea, Bells. I'm glad you aren't here to deal with it. Anyway, when it was time to transport her to the court, she fought me the entire time. She refused to get into the police cruiser. It took both me and Chris to pick her up and cram her in the backseat. The entire five-minute drive consisted of her screaming at the top of her lungs."
I shook my head. Renee was just so far gone that she didn't understand how much trouble she was in and that she was only making it worse. "What happened in the hearing?"
"She screamed bloody murder the entire time I had to walk her from the cruiser to the courtroom. Luckily, her arraignment was the first of the day, so her screaming didn't interrupt any other hearings going on. It was so bad that the judge stormed into the courtroom and yelled at Renee. There's a reason why Judge Harhutt is known as Hardass Harhutt. He doesn't put up with anyone's shit," he said with a laugh.
"What did he do?"
"He told her that if she didn't shut up and show the proper respect in his courtroom, he would have her muzzled and chained to her chair. That shut her up really fast. Unfortunately, it didn't last long."
I smacked my forehead in disbelief. "What did she do then?"
"When the judge read through her list of charges, she started screaming how she was allowed in the house since you and I live there and she's your mother. She claimed she wanted to spend time with her only child when she was falsely arrested. She tried so hard to look sad and pathetic to try to convince Harhutt. It didn't work. Harhutt said he was aware of the fact that she had disowned her daughter five years prior and that I don't live at that house and that you own it. Renee wouldn't listen. Then the judge told her that if she keeps lying she was going to be found in contempt of court and heavily fined."
"Let me guess. She didn't listen," I said.
"Of course, she didn't. The judge asked her where her attorney was and she lied and told him she was not allowed to use her two phone calls to call her lawyer," he said.
"What did Judge Harhutt do?" I asked realizing that this whole situation with Renee sounded more like a soap opera than real life.
"He fined her a thousand dollars. Since she did nothing but lie through her face, he said he wasn't even going to ask how she was going to plead because he knew she would lie. He denied her bail and ordered her to be sent to prison. She was given a year and a half plus she has to go through rehab. I'm just happy she's no longer my responsibility," he finished.
"I'm glad too. Now, we don't have to deal with her anymore. I'm also glad that Karma is kicking her ass right now. She earned it," I said not feeling sorry for it. Renee was a lousy mother and treated both me and my dad like garbage.
"I'm sorry you had to deal with her at all. I wish Karma kicked her years ago, but everything happens for a reason and karma doesn't give out warnings. Now, enough of the Renee drama. How are things in Italy?" he asked.
"Things are doing great. Caius is having my bedroom soundproofed. Jasper and I are doing well. I spoke with Esme and she's doing great as is Emmett. So everything here is great," I told him hoping he wouldn't ask any personal questions.
"Caius requested that I call him to let him know what happened. By the sounds of it, he wanted to take care of our 'pesky Renee issue'. We both know what that means," he said.
I laughed. Caius was very protective. A part of me would love to see what he would do. "Yes, we do."
Fortunately for me, my dad didn't ask me any personal questions which I was thankful for. Charlie has always been good at respecting people's boundaries. So I knew there weren't going to be any problems.
We eventually hung up with me promising to call him tomorrow. I decided that I needed a good workout, so I made my way up to my pseudo-bedroom and changed into my workout gear. I wandered down to the gym and was lucky to find that it was empty.
I did my usual workout which included warm-ups, core strengthening exercises, and stretches. Once I was sufficiently warmed up, I decided to work with the bo staff. I spent a lot of time with the bo which I followed with some Sai work.
I was so absorbed in what I was doing that I didn't notice an unfamiliar male vampire standing by the entrance. He was relatively tall with dark hair but was not very remarkable. His beady eyes were following my moves which was making me feel uncomfortable.
I decided to finish my workout and replaced the Sai. I ignored the vampire and walked quickly to the opposite door hoping the guy would leave me alone. Unfortunately for me, the guy ran ahead and blocked my way out.
"Where do you think you are going, little girl?" he sneered.
"I'm going to find my mate. Now, if you will excuse me," I said as I tried to walk past him. He grabbed my arm roughly which caused me to wince in pain. My response seemed to only egg him on as he continued to squeeze my upper arm.
"You're a human. Humans don't have mates," he laughed.
"Humans can have vampire mates. Do the math," I replied angrily. I was hoping that either Jasper or Caius was somewhere nearby because I was not going to be able to get out of this without help.
The strange vampire pulled me closer to him as he ran his nose slowly up my neck as he sniffed me. "You smell delicious."
I stood completely still and concentrated all of my emotions and sent Jasper all the fear I was feeling. I somehow knew he had felt them, so I tried to buy some time until he got here. I only needed a few seconds.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I warned him.
"Yeah, and what are you going to do about it?" he asked.
"It's not me you have to worry about," I replied as I felt Jasper send me some love. I looked over the moron's shoulder to see Jasper standing directly behind him. "It's him," I said gesturing with my head.
In a split second, Caius came from somewhere and took me in his arms, and rushed me to the opposite side of the gym. I turned around to see that Jasper had already removed the idiot's arms. "I'll share," the idiot cried.
"I'm not the type that shares his mate," Jasper growled loudly. "Master Caius, would you like the pleasure?"
"Bring him to the throne room, Jasper. We're going to make an example out of him," Caius said angrily.
A/N: Renee has been dealt with. I was really hating her in this fic.
