Like I said in the previous chapter I am writing the next couple of chapters back to back. The reason behind this is because I have exams coming up and then I'm on holiday and I don't know if I'll have time to write more.

CHAPTER 11. FIRST MATCH OF THE SEASON
Tuesday, October 14th
Hermione entered the Great Hall and smiled to herself. It was filled with the bright colours of both the Slytherin and Ravenclaw houses. It had finally come. The start of the annual quidditch season. Hermione made her way to the Gryffindor table and sat down next to Harry and Ron.
"Good morning," she said smiling. Ron nodded at her grinning.
"Morning," said Harry grinning.
"You two are in a good mood despite it being 7 in the morning," she said while pouring herself a bowl of cereal.
"There's the first quidditch match today," said Ron grinning, while eating his croissant. Hermione rolled her eyes at him.
"There should be quidditch matches more often if it puts you in such a good mood," she teased grinning at him. He stuck her tongue out at her.
"I'm gutted that we're not playing first this year," said Harry while pouring himself a glass of orange juice. Hermione smiled at him.
"More practice, isn't it," replied Ron. Hermione at her cereal and looked around the room.
"Who do you think is going to win this match?" Hermione asked them.
"Slytherin," said Harry.
"Ravenclaw," replied Ron at the same time as Harry. Hermione grinned. "Ravenclaw has a really solid team," retorted Ron. Harry rolled his eyes.
"They had a solid team. Both their seeker and keeper finished last year, they had to find new ones," said Harry. "All the Slytherin players are good," he said. Ron huffed.
"Ravenclaws are the ones that train the most," replied Ron.
"I don't want Slytherin to win but the odds are in their favour," added Harry. Hermione looked at her watch. 7:47 am.
"As amusing as this is to watch we need to go to Ancient Runes," she said grinning and getting up. Harry and Ron argued about quidditch the whole way to class. The morning went by surprisingly fast. It was probably the anticipation of the first quidditch match. Harry, Ron and Hermione made their way to the Great Hall for lunch.
"I'm so happy we get the afternoon off," said Ron slumping down onto the bench. Harry grinned.
"You do realise we're not going to spend the whole afternoon watching quidditch, this is a good time to get ahead with work," reminded Hermione. Ron grinned.
"It depends on how fast the snitch is caught, it could take hours," he said. Hermione rolled her eyes at him. They ate their lunch and talked and laughed together. Ginny and Neville joined them. When they were done Hermione looked at her watch. 12:56.
"We have an hour before the game," said Hermione standing up. "I think I'm going to head over to the library and work for a bit," she added. Ron groaned.
"Hermione no it's the first game of the year," he whined. "Don't waste this beautiful moment by working." Hermione grinned at him.
"I didn't say you had to work Ronald," she said jokingly. Ron stuck his tongue out at her. Just then Lavender came over to the table.
"Hi everyone," she said cheerfully. "Hi, Ron," she said kissing him on the cheek. Ron grinned at her. "I'm so excited for this first game!" she said giggling. Ron grinned at her and stood up.
"Right, I'll see you all at the game," he said and the couple walked off.
"Hermione, why don't you come with Ginny and me, we're just going to hang out on the grounds, you can work there," offered Harry.
"Neville's coming with us too," Ginny added grinning. Hermione grinned.
"Sure," she replied. The four of them grabbed their bags and headed off to the grounds. They sat down under a big oak tree and just enjoyed the warm October afternoon sun. Hermione worked on her Defence Against the Dark Arts essay while Neville was collecting aquatic plants down by the lake and Harry and Ginny were just talking. Hermione looked up from her essay and looked at Harry and Ginny. The both of them looked so happy together. She smiled to herself. She was so glad that they were finally together. It had been something she had been hoping for for a very long time. She watched as Harry tucked Ginny's hair behind her ear and Ginny blushed. Hermione grinned.
"Hermione, look at what I found," Neville said making her head turn.

At a couple of minutes to 2, Harry, Ginny, Hermione and Neville made their way to the Quidditch pitch.
"Over here!" called Ron waving them over. The four of them sat down with him and the other Gryffindors that had already gathered in the stands.
"Who do you think is going to win?" Neville asked. Harry and Ron grinned. Hermione groaned.
"Oh, Neville not this question please," Hermione begged. Ginny grinned.
"How about we just wait and see," said Lucie grinning. Just then both the Slytherin and Ravenclaw teams walked onto the pitch and flew up into the air. Hermione watched as 14 blurs of colours, seven green and seven blue, zoom through the air. Hermione spotted Draco Malfoy and his perfect hair and smug look on his face hovering a bit above the other players. Hermione rolled her eyes.

Everyone held their breath as Draco Malfoy dived.
"Oh my, Ferret's spotted the snitch!" exclaimed Ginny. Harry and Ron grinned.
"Gin, don't call him that," said Hermione but she couldn't help but grin too.
"He's going to hit the ground," said Lucie slightly alarmed. Hermione turned to look. Draco was speeding fast towards the ground.
"No he's still got time to pull out of it," said Ron. But Draco Malfoy was showing no signs of stopping.
"He's going to crash!" Lavender gasped. Hermione felt sick to her stomach. This is why she didn't like this game. However, she couldn't keep her eyes off of Draco. At the very last minute, Draco Malfoy grabbed the snitch and pulled out of the dive. There were groans from the Ravenclaws as the Slytherins erupted into cheers. Harry and Ron groaned.
"I can't believe it," said Ron covering his face with his hands.
"How much was that?" Hermione asked.
"120 to 170 for Slytherin," replied Fay. They all got up and the stands started to slowly empty.
"I told you they would win," said Harry. Ron glared at him.
"One more win and they're in the final," said Ron groaning. "I really thought Ravenclaw had it."
"I mean they smashed the rest of the game they just didn't catch the snitch," said Harry.

At 7 pm Harry, Ron and Hermione made their way down for dinner. They had spent the rest of the afternoon studying and catching up on homework. They sat down next to Lavender and Parvati who was accompanied by Padma.
"Rotten luck today," said Harry smiling comfortingly at Padma. Padma smiled at him and nodded.
"It was a good catch though, even if it was by Malfoy," she replied. Ron groaned. There were whoops and cheers coming from the Slytherin table. Hermione looked over her shoulder at the Slytherin table. She expected to find Draco Malfoy gloating about his win but he seemed to be in an intense conversation with Daphne Greengrass. Hermione shrugged and turned back to her friends.
"You know what would cheer us up? A bonfire!" Lavender suggested. Hermione grinned.
"That sounds like a brilliant idea actually," she said.
"Oh I actually have marshmallows in my dorm, we could make smores," Padma offered. Harry and Ron grinned.
"That would definitely be nice," Harry agreed. He spotted Ginny and waved her over.
"Hi everyone," said Ginny sitting down next to Harry. He kissed her on the cheek and she blushed.
"Has anyone told you that you two look really good together," said Parvati grinning. Hermione rolled her eyes.
"You have no idea how long it took to get them together," she complained grinning. Even Ron grinned.
"Even I was rooting for them at this point," he said while putting his arm around Lavender. Everyone laughed. They ate their evening meal and then headed back to the Gryffindor common room.
"I'm just going to head over to the Head Boy and Girl common room to get my Charms and History of Magic books for tomorrow," she told Harry and Ron. They nodded.
"Don't forget, we're leaving in 20 minutes to go to the bonfire," Ron reminded her. Hermione grinned.
"I won't be long," she reassured him and off she went to her private common room. She got the key out of her pocket and opened the door. Draco Malfoy was sitting on the sofa in front of the fire with Theodore Nott. She chose not to acknowledge them and gingerly walked towards her bookshelf.
"Granger," said Theodore Nott.
"Nott," Hermione replied not even looking at him.
"A letter addressed to you arrived, I put it on your desk," said Draco Malfoy without even turning to look at her. Hermione looked over at him for a moment. She went over to her desk and grabbed the letter. As she was walking to the door she stopped and said.
"Congratulations on today's win," and with that, she left without waiting for a response. She kicked herself. Why had she even said that? She shook her head and made her way back to Gryffindor's common room. She went up to her dorm room and dropped her books onto her bed. She sat down and opened the letter. She smiled to herself. It was from Sirius. The letter read.
Hermione,
Feel free to write to me whenever, I don't have very much going on in my life at the moment anyway.
I must admit I did not expect you to write to me about this but I do understand what it feels like to be alone. Don't forget that Harry and Ron would move the earth for you, you are well surrounded by your friends.
Even in uncertain times remember to lean on them for support, friends are a second family in some way.
Remus wrote to me about your little secret and that might be why you feel a little out of place as it's something you have kept close to your chest for years, you might be worried things will change now that this news is out but I promise if anything, this will bring you closer to your friends.
Believe in yourself and your friends Hermione.
Hope you feel better now and remember I am always here.
Padfoot
Hermione smiled to herself and put the letter away. She was surprised as to how much that had actually helped her. She opened her wardrobe and took out a pair of black wide-legged jeans and a green long-sleeved v-neck top. She then grabbed her black oversized hooded zip-up and her black shoes. She went into the bathroom, brushed her teeth and touched up her makeup. She tied her curly hair which she had left natural this morning, into a low messy bun with some face-framing pieces out. She then got dressed, put her shoes on, grabbed her wand and made her way down to the common room to wait for Harry and Ron. A couple of minutes later they came down.
"Well look at you," said Harry grinning. Hermione rolled her eyes.
"Let's just go," she said grinning. The three of them made their way down to the grounds. There they were met but most of the other Gryffindors in their year and a few Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs as well. They spent a couple of hours talking and laughing, drinking butterbeer and eating smores. Hermione even spoke to Hannah Abbot and Dean Thomas, people she rarely interacted with. It was a great evening overall and Hermione finally felt at home. She smiled to herself as she sipped her butterbeer. She watched as Seamus, Dean and Ron did impressions and laughed as they performed poorly. She looked over and Harry and Ginny who were dancing together and grinned widely.
"Hello, Hermione," came a calm voice from behind her. She turned around and smiled.
"Hello, Luna," she said patting the log next to her. Luna sat down next to her and grabbed a butterbeer. "I hope you're not too upset by Ravenclaw's loss today," she said sympathising. Luna grinned and shrugged.
"That's all part of the game, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, I enjoy supporting my house no matter the outcome," she replied merrily. Hermione grinned.
"Ravenclaw performed brilliantly, it's just a shame that they didn't catch the snitch," said Hermione. Luna grinned and nodded.
