It had been six hours since Jasper had taken any pain relief, and he was starting to feel it. He could not get comfy on the lounger, and started to shift his weight, which made the pain worse. Feeling guilty about leaving his pain killers at the Palace, Eleanor and Liam were being attentive to his every position change. They were also making sure he always had a drink.

Jasper finally figured out that if he didn't hold anything in his hands and laid in a slightly reclined position it eased the pain. The pain was making him tired, and he closed his eyes, as he had nothing else to do at that point. He woke up when a shadow formed over him, cooling him off and protecting him from the sun.

He opened his eyes to see Liam moving the parasol.

"uuuurrrghhhh" Jasper groaned from the effort.

"Len would kill me if I let you burn."

"Where'd she go?"

"Pharmacy. She's gone to see if she can get you something to take the edge off for you."

Jasper tried to push himself into a full sitting position, to be stopped by Liam.

"Whatever you need, I will get you."

"I appreciate that, but until you can learn to pee for me, there are somethings I need to do on my own."

"Let me help you get there. You have got to be in pain about now."

"Well it feels like I got shot, and was stupid enough to not let it heal."

Jasper managed to sit up, but swinging his legs off the lounger was way to much. Liam took hold of his legs and completed the movement for him, before he held his hand out to Jasper, in order to pull him into a standing position.

"Take it slowly."

Jasper nodded and slowly put one step in front of the other, supported by Liam. Together, they made their way around the pool and to a bathroom on the ground floor.

"I'll wait outside. Can you manage those last few steps?" Liam asked.

Jasper nodded and shuffled the last few paces to the toilet, while Liam shut the door and waited outside.

Minutes later, Jasper struggled out of the bathroom and held onto the door frame for support. Liam jumped from the seat he had taken and wrapped one of his arms underneath Jasper's armpits.

"Sofa" Jasper gasped. The walk to the toilet had taken a lot of his strength out of him.

Liam guided him to the sofa, and helped him get comfortable, even though, looking at him, there was no way he could be.

"Better?"

Jasper nodded.

"Drink?"

Jasper nodded again

Liam left to get Jasper's drink and his book, and when he returned, Jasper was out. Cold.

Feeling another pang of guilt for leaving his meds at home, Liam put the drink and the book within easy reach and settled himself in a chair with his book.

It was another hour or so before Eleanor arrived back at the villa, laden with shopping bags. She crashed through the doors, but stopped on sight of Jasper, with Liam shushing her.

"Where have you been?" he asked her in a loud whisper

"I went to the pharmacy, and then I went to get some food in, as we have, like, nothing to eat, or even snack on. We didn't even have coffee."

"Did you get anything?"

"Lose dose Co Codamol is all I could get. It's better than nothing. Should we wake him?"

"I don't know. He's not doing too good. Nearly collapsed going to the toilet."

Eleanor went to the kitchen to put the shopping away, Liam trailing behind her.

"So who is bringing the meds over?" she asked him.

"Liv."

"Liv? You invited Liv?"

"Yeah. As soon as you threatened to cook, I realised we had noone to cook for us, and we aren't exactly taught how to as Royalty."

"I can cook"

"Len, you burn toast."

"It is incredibly easy to burn toast I'll have you know!"

"Of course it is Len."

Liam reached into a bag and pulled out a pack of soft drinks. He lifted an eyebrow at her questioningly.

"Well, Jasper can't drink, and I am happy to remain sober because I am looking after him, but not if all I have to drink is water."

"So you got no alcohol?"

"Try the other bag."

A crashing noise made them both drop what they were holding and rush back to the sitting room.

They saw Jasper sat up, with his glass, now shattered, and book on the floor. He was trying to reach them. Eleanor ran to his side and gently pushed him back into the sofa while Liam went back to the kitchen, grabbed a soda, the bag from the pharmacy and the roll of kitchen paper.

He handed the soda and bag to Eleanor while he crouched down to clean up the broken glass and spilled drink.

Eleanor opened the drink and handed it to Jasper. She also read the dosage labels on the pain relief and pressed out the correct dose and handed it to him. Jasper just sat there, pills in one hand, drink in the other, looking at Eleanor, smiling weakly. Seeing that Jasper was struggling, Eleanor took the pills from him.

"Open" she said.

Jasper opened his mouth and Eleanor placed the pills on his tongue. She then took the drink and slowly poured it into his mouth to wash the pills down.

"It's not the Morphine that you were prescribed, but it should take the edge off the pain."

Jasper nodded.

Eleanor set the drink on the table and retrieved his book.

"Let them kick in. I'll make dinner."

"You aren't cooking Len! Last thing we need is food poisoning." Liam shouted from the kitchen

"We need to eat!" Eleanor protested

"We can order pizza"

Eleanor turned to face Jasper to ask for his thoughts, but he was back to sleep.

A/N: Whilst I have never, thankfully, never been shot... I have had three of my ribs surgically broken in almost the exact spot where Jasper was shot... I had a reaction to the anaesthetic, I had the most whacked out nightmares (turns out that the more traumatic a surgery, the more likely that is going to happen), I was in hospital for 5 days post op and needed help using the toilet, dressing, getting out of bed... it was about 8 weeks before I could breathe properly without pain and 10 before I could actually lie flat in bed. I also know what it is like to do it sans pain killers as I'm allergic to most of them!
