Battle Center B (Day)
Once more, Gengar attacked with Night Shade. Beams of black lightning surged toward Todoroki, but he managed to shield himself with an ice wall before the Move could land. After that, Shoji ran at the Pokemon, ready to punch it. Genger then slipped into the darkness, evading the strike.
'We can't win like this.' Todoroki thought to himself as Shoji kept trying in vain to locate Gengar. The multicolored boy contemplated using his fire, but decided against it. Gengar reappeared from the shadows to use Dark Pulse on Shoji. Knowing he'd probably get a better shot at the phantom while it was preparing an attack, Todoroki blasted it with an ice shot.
The Pokemon noticed this and fired it's Dark Pulse at the ice blast instead. The two attacks collided with eachother, trapping both Gengar and Todoroki in a power struggle.
"Get to the top floor!" the boy told his teammate, who nodded before running past the Shadow Pokemon. Gengar watched as Shoji ran toward the room Dominic and Ojiro were hiding in. As a last resort, it gathered a ball of poison in it's hand and slammed it into the ground, creating a tsunami of toxic liquid that pushed Todoroki into a wall. Unfortunately, the attack missed Shoji, and the boy continued to find it's Trainer.
Battle Center B (Day)
"One of them got past Gengar." Dominic said, surprising Ojiro.
"How do you know?" the tailed boy asked.
"Call it an instinct. I can just...tell when one of my Pokemon has lost a battle, even if this was more of a tie than anything else." the monarch explained. "As for which one escaped, I have no clue." As he said that, Shoji ran through the door. "Hmm, guess we know now. You have the tape, right?" Ojiro nodded. "Good. But, for some extra insurance: Hypno, put the audience to sleep!"
Dominic brought out a Poke Ball and tossed it in front of Shoji. It materialized into a yellow humanoid with a tuft of white fur around it's neck. It also held a pendulum in it's hand.
"What's that?" Ojiro asked, a bit creeped out by the strange being.
"Hypno, the Hypnosis Pokemon. Type: Psychic. Hypno holds a pendulum in it's hand. The arcing movement and glitter of the pendulum lull the foe into a deep state of hypnosis. While this Pokemon searches for prey, it polishes the pendulum."
Dominic had memorized the entire Pokedex, so he was able to recite any entry at will. He decided to leave out the part where a Hypno once took a child it hypnotized, as it would likely cause a panic with the school. "Use Pound!" Hypno ran to Shoji, then swung a punch at the boy. Shoji managed to block it with the webbing between his dupli-arms. "Follow up with Low Sweep!" Shoji fell over after the Pokemon attacked his legs, and a blue aura engulfed him while he got back up.
"What just happened?" Ojiro asked.
"Low Sweep makes whatever it hits slower. Rather effective when you're battling someone who doesn't like to stay still." Memories of a certain skeletal comedian rattle through Dominic's head as he said this. "Finish this with Hypnosis." Hypno swung it's pendulum, coating both it and Shoji in a cyan aura before the masked boy fell asleep.
Ojiro wrapped the tape around Shoji, securing their victory over him. "Now, where's Todoroki?" the tailed boy asked.
"Villain Team wins!" All Might said over the speakers, making Dominic return Hypno.
In seconds, Gengar phased into the room through the floor and was greeted by it's trainer. The Pokemon's body was littered with scars reminiscent of those left behind by Icy Wind, Ice Beam, or even Sheer Cold. "You did well, old friend. You deserve to take a rest." the boy said, getting an Ultra Ball from his pocket and sending Gengar into it. "Now, let's wake Shoji before the class thinks we roofied him."
"Got it." Ojiro said as he shook the masked boy from his nap.
Monitoring Room (Day)
Dominic and Ojiro stood next to eachother, with All Might standing to the right of them. Todoroki and Shoji also stood by the Hero, waiting to hear the evaluation. "Now class, can any of you tell me who the MVP was?" All Might asked.
That set off everyone. Each student apart from those participating in the battle began spouting their own opinions. Kirishima said that it was Dominic since his Pokemon sealed the win. Asui countered by saying that Todoroki's plan to freeze the room before entering the building would've worked if Dominic didn't have Centiskorch.
Before anyone else had the chance to say anything else, Dominic raised his hand. "I have a suggestion." he said. Many in the room assumed he'd declare himself the MVP. "I personally think Gengar deserves this." The boy got out an Ultra Ball, then used it to release Gengar into the room, scaring most of the students and even unnerving All Might.
"Why Gengar?" Jiro asked, curious.
"Because it fought the hardest." the trainer explained, placing a hand on the Shadow Pokemon's head. "Todoroki nearly took Gengar out with his ice. Despite knowing it's opponent was that strong, it still battled until the battle ended." Gengar smiled wider at this, proud of itself. "Of course, if it used Perish Song, this entire thing could've ended in a minute." Dominic said with a smug grin, taking the Ghost-Type down a peg. Not liking this, Gengar attacked him with Night Shade. "I deserved that."
As the class laughed at the interaction, they remained blissfully ignorant of what would happen in the near future.
