Chapter 253
Hiccups POV:
It's been four weeks since my parents and Gobber got their items from the dragons' forge and in that time, it had become rare to see them without their weapons except for Gobber who wore his new gauntlets everywhere. As expected, they'd visit my island at least once a day to try out their weapons in my training mirror for combat practice since nobody would spar with them when they used their new weapons. There were times when they used their new weapons for something other than combat like my dad using his axe to cut wood and knock down old fences, my mom using her naginata to control the dragons and Gobber using his gauntlets for forging and picking things up.
Sadly, this came with multiple problems for me since the new weapons caught a lot of attention from a lot of people as did their uses and because of this I could not get a moments peace whenever I was on Berk. No matter where I went there was someone there wanting me to let them into my forge to get their own weapon like my parents and Gobber despite me telling them that the weapon chooses its wielder and there weren't enough for all of Berk. Sadly, with Vikings being nothing if not stubborn, they would not leave me alone so I spent most of my time on my island and even then, I got little peace due to people constantly sneaking on and getting caught by the snake guardians or my automatons. I would then have to deal with the trespassers by taking both them and the ship they came with back to Berk and report it to my father who dealt them their punishment.
On a more positive note, both Brant and Chara had advanced in their ninja training with Brant being taught by Fire how to use a pole weapon to block projectiles by moving it in front of the projectile. He trained Brant to do this by giving him a pole that was the same length as a normal spear but was no thicker than his pinkie and it was with this pole that Brant had to hit pea sized projectiles that were thrown at him. This was training I myself had gone through and it was not the least bit easy, but it was all worth it in the end since it helped me when it came to my training. Chara didn't have it any easier though since she'd made such progress with her kunai throwing and melee fighting, she'd been able to advance in her training to use rope kunai, but she was using blunt kunai for the training. I couldn't blame Wind for only allowing her to use a blunt kunai for this kind of training though since it often came back to her and hit her somewhere, leaving a bruise that I needed to tend to. On another note though, the night fury's had fully settled in to their new nests and were now seen flying all over the island every day and had bonded with the realm fury's enough to welcome them into the flock. Sadly, this meant more cleanup time for me since some of the males found them attractive and tried to charm them, but they ended up like Toothless when he first tried to charm them
Besides that, things had been pretty peaceful with nothing major happening, so I was able to continue with my own ninja training and mastering a few more moves and techniques. Now I was with my family and we were discussing another vacation to a place where hopefully I would be able to enjoy some peace with my family and not have to deal with any evil villain or magical beast intending to take over the world. It was then Chara said something that caught everyone's attention.
"Why don't we go to Ireland?" All eyes turned to her. "I always enjoy napping in the Irish fields of the island, and it sounds like a nice place from the books I've read." I smiled.
"Ireland is a peaceful place and the village should have a few kids for you and Brant to play with and fields for you to explore and practice your rope kunai." She smiled before Hadasa said.
"There'll be little training on this trip since it is meant to be a vacation for all of us."
"True but the kids have got to keep up their training or else their skills grow weaker and I don't want that to happen with all the enemies and greedy nobles who would love nothing more than to get to me through them." I could see the fear in Chara's eyes, so I gently placed a hand on her head. "Don't worry, just keep up your training and you'll be ready for anything those scum bags throw at you, okay sweetie." She nodded making me smile. "Now let's begin planning our trip but I have to warn you all that the house I have in Ireland is a small house, so it'll be a little tight for all of us." Blanca then said.
"It will be a nice change from the large palace we all live in." I raised an eyebrow wondering if she wasn't happy with our life together. "It is not that I do not love the life we have but there are times when I feel like we should get back to the simple life." I smiled and nodded.
"You raise a good point my sweet serpent but still, the hut will be a little tight so we may have to move some things around." I then stood up. "For now, let's start making plans and preparing for the trip to Ireland or as the locals call it, the emerald isle." They all smiled before we began discussing everything that was to happen on our trip.
3 days later
It's been three days since we discussed the trip and those days had been setting thing up on the island so we wouldn't have to worry about anything while we're away but it's all going to be worth it when I'm enjoying the peaceful planes of Ireland. Now I was standing in the portal room with my family, the girls dragons, Toothless and Twilight who was sitting on top of her father's back while Chara was in Astrid's arms and Brant was standing by Blanca. I gently placed a hand on Toothless' head and took Hadasa's hand who extended her hand to the others who took it before I said.
"Alright, off to the emerald isles with us." With that said, we all walked through the portal and walked right into a field outside the village before I took a deep breath and smiled. "The smell of the Great Planes after a gentle rainfall is truly a wonderful thing." I then turned to the village in the distance and smiled at its beauty. "It's been a long time since I was last here and I am glad to be back, but I wonder how everyone's doing." Astrid answered.
"We won't know until we get to it so let's go." We then made our way towards the village.
5 minutes later
We were now on the outskirts of the village and I knew right then and there that something was wrong since it was beautiful sunny day where people should be out working while children were out in the fields playing but instead the village looked like a ghost town. I released my star sword and signaled everyone to be on guard since something was not right and I did not want my family to get hurt by whatever it was that turned this village into a ghost town. I turned to my family and said.
"Girls, keep an eye on the kids and if anything happens, run."
They nodded as the dragons got into defensive positions while I slowly walked into the village with Toothless at my side as we made our way to Connor's hut since if anyone would know what was going on, it would be the chief. I walked up to the door and using the eye of the dragon, saw through its walls and saw Connor sitting in a chair in front of the fire, looking down at it in a way that made even me feel sad. I took a breath and slowly pushed the door open making the hinges squeak as Connor groaned out.
"Who's there and if you've come to dump more blame on me because of what's happened then get out as I've heard it all?"
"I'll be sure to assign blame once you've told me what happened." I saw Connor sit up.
"Hiccup, is that you lad?" I nodded and walked towards his chair.
"Yeah, it's me and I would like to know what's happened to turn this village from the happy lively village I first came to in Ireland into a depressing ghost town." He looked down, hiding his face from me.
"He came lad, him and his beasties came and attacked our village before summoning the demon who took them from us." I placed a hand on his shoulder.
"What did this guy take from you?" It was then he looked up at me and I couldn't hold in my gasp of shock since where his eyes were meant to be was just skin, not even eye holes.
"He took our eyes lad, then left us to wonder blindly for the rest of our lives." I walked up and placed my hands-on top of his.
"Who did this to you all."
"He did not give his name, he but he had a glowing red orb that he used to summon the demon who claimed 'Of sacred seal you did partake, now your sight you must forsake' and then all our eyes were stolen from us, leaving us blind and helpless to the point that we were barely able to get to our huts."
"How long ago was this?"
"I think about a day and a half ago."
"Then I might be able to pick up his trail while I have my wives and kids stay and help tend to the village and the people." Before I could pull my hands away but before I could he grabbed them and shook his head.
"No lad, you'll lose your eyes to." I pulled away.
"And if I don't then there's no telling how many more people will suffer the same fate as your village." He sighed and nodded.
"Just be careful lad and whatever you do, don't peek at the orb or else the demon will take your eyes as well." I nodded before I slowly stood him up.
"Come on, let's get you to my wives and we'll check you and everyone else for injuries."
1 hour later
It's been an hour since we arrived and I have to say that our vacation really isn't having the best beginning since in addition to finding out the village where we'd be staying was attacked by some sort of demon who took the eyes of the villagers, we learnt a lot had been injured and without sight, couldn't do anything. It was because of this I had been spending the last hour using my enchanted Ganji river water to heal all the wounded while my family helped lead them around to avoid causing trouble. The healing only took half an hour and the other half was spent convincing my wives to allow me to go after the ones who took the eyes of the villagers. After I was finally able to convince them I began my journey using my kitsune mask to view the past and pick up the trail left by those who came to the village.
This brings us to now, with me walking across the fields on the trail of the ones who had this demon under their command while the dragons including Toothless, stayed behind to guard the village with my family. The weird thing was, as far as I could tell there was only one human while the others who attacked were some sort of midget beasts. This made me all the more curious to know who the heck this guy was and what in the world were the creatures that he was controlling since I can't remember reading or hearing about anything like them. It was then a familiar voice came from behind me saying.
"Top of the morning to you Hiccup." I smiled and turned around to see my small leprechaun friend Rooney sitting on a boulder.
"Hello Rooney, it's been a while."
"That it has and what brings you back to the shores of the Emerald Isle?"
"I was meant to be enjoying a peaceful trip with my family, but it looks like that's going to be put on hold after what happened in the village." Rooney frowned.
"You saw the villagers?" I nodded. "Not a pretty sight to see ey?"
"Which is why I'm going to track down the ones responsible and get their eyes back."
"I don't think ye should go near them lad, I've been around long enough to know danger when I see it and that group with their wee beasties was something anyone with a brain as wee as a walnut would know to avoid them at all costs." I smiled.
"Rooney, I'm a Viking and for a Viking, going into dangerous situations is an occupational hazard." He sighed and shook his head.
"Then I wish you luck ladie."
"Before you go, is there anything you can tell me about this group I'm going up against?" He shook his head.
"Sorry Hiccup but up until a few days ago, me and the members of me clan didn't even know they existed."
"If that's the case then they're probably newly created, come from a foreign land or have remained hidden for longer than your clans existed."
"I be thinking it be one of the first two since my clan's knowledge is almost as old as the Celtic ruins themselves and they were made when the land first came to be plus I know every mythical being ever to exist in these lands and those beasties they control ain't one of them."
"So, any idea on where this group have set up their base?" He nodded.
"An old ruined castle that used to belong to a former king and a cruel one at that." He shook his head. "It's no wonder he was overthrown but the battle was truly brutal one and a lot of blood was spilt upon the ruins that were once the castle until the fire that was lit during the battle that destroyed the castle."
"And they've made these ruins their base?" He shrugged.
"As far as I know but it's strange since there's no place to hide in those old rocks, but they somehow disappear when they've entered it."
"Sound like they may have a secret passageway somewhere around those ruins."
"But where would it lead since the castles basically just a heap o rocks now."
"It must be underground, but I won't know until I get there." He nodded.
"Either way lad, I wish ya luck lad since what I saw was a darkness that I don't want to taint me homeland any further." I nodded. "There is one other thing lad." He reached into his coat. "The gods sent a message to me clan and asked me to deliver this to ya if ya decided to go after the ones responsible for all the trouble." He pulled out a golden ball the size of his head, made of multiple strips of what I recognized as sentinel metal, but it had multiple runes inscribed on each strip. "Don't have a clue what it does or what it be for, but they claimed you'd know when the time is right." He threw it to me, and I caught it before he gave one last bow. "Once more I wish ya luck lad." I then blinked and like that he was gone.
"Thank you, Rooney." With that said I put the orb away and began heading towards the ruins he mentioned.
Half an hour later
It's been half an hour since I ran into Rooney and in that time, I had just made it to the ruins where the base of the ones responsible for this nightmare were meant to have set up base. I'd been exploring these ruins for five minutes so far, but I'd come up with nothing so far other than a couple of ancient rocks with burn marks still on them. Now I was using my kitsune mask to try and find out where these figures went, using its enhanced senses and ability to see the past in certain areas. So far, the only thing I could smell was the grass and old boulders while seeing nothing of the past that anyone had even come near here for ages.
It was then that the wind changed direction, throwing the smell of fresh blood right into my face and I knew right away that it was a trail to the hidden entrance of the base I'd been looking for. I quickly followed the scent until I came to a small clearing in the ruins and surprisingly the scent led me right into the middle of the clearing and using my mystic blue patterned bell, I found a hidden trap door. I was about to open it but then the green patterned bell let out a gentle ring alerting me to a trap being nearby, so I used the eye of the dragon to see what was on the other side of the trapdoor. I wasn't surprised to see a crossbow attached to the bottom of the door with a trigger connected to the lock so it would go off if I tried to open it by force. I pulled out my green patterned bell from its place in my spiderpack alongside my red patterned bell to disarm the trap and unlock the door. I slowly lowered the green patterned bell towards the door and gently rung it, disarming the trap before doing the same with the red bell, disabling the locking mechanism, allowing me to open it as I said.
"Time to see what lurks in the darkness beneath these ruins." I jumped down into the darkness, intent on exploring this place as quietly and unseen as possible before doing anything since I wanted to know what I was going up against before I did anything.
1 hour later
It's been an hour since I first entered the hidden lair and in that time I'd discovered that in addition to this place being a large labyrinth of tunnels, wooden bridges over deep chasms, ladders to platforms and other such things, it was also crawling with these midget creatures wearing blood red hats all armed with some kind of weapon. So far, I hadn't seen any humans though but I was able to avoid any sort of detection using my shadow coat and able to get around easily while being able to plant some jewelwigs to keep an eye on things. It was during my exploration that I discovered a hidden library full of ancient books, a few tables with chairs and a couple of torches hanging on the walls. This brings us to now with me standing at one of the desks, going through a book that had a symbol on the cover that I'd seen on a few tapestries which revealed to me what I was dealing with.
Apparently, these guys are called 'The brotherhood of the blood eye' and they were a group that originated in Scotland but were driven out over a hundred years ago and were forced to go underground, here in Ireland to rebuild their forces. As for their forces, they're creatures named red caps which is a mythical being that I'd read about and knew that their hats were died red with the blood of their victims. This also explained as to why they chose this place as their base since the redcaps needed to nest in a place where blood had been spilt and the more blood, the more redcaps. As for the brotherhood, they worship a demon called 'Tenebraug' who steals the eyes of all those who look at the Orb of Moldova and in exchange for adding to his collection, he gives them a mineral called blood ore which can absorb blood and the more blood it takes in, the more powerful it becomes. Along with this they used a dark ritual to absorb the blood from their weapons and turn it into life force, granting them eternal life so they could continue their reign of terror.
It was then I heard someone coming down the tunnel leading to the library and I quickly looked around for a hiding place but not seeing one, I quickly climbed onto the table and jumped towards the ceiling while extending the legs of my spiderpack. I quickly had the legs stab into the ceiling and hold me there before pulling my body flat against it so I wouldn't be seen, just as the door to the library opened. It was then a figure wearing a blood red cloak with white robes beneath it and the symbol of the brotherhood in black on the back, along with a blood red band around his forehead with the eye in the middle, walked into the room looking around. I saw him frown beneath his hood as he said.
"I could've sworn I heard something."
I slowly released the bandages from my bandage bands toward him and just as he turned back to the door, they quickly wrapped around his mouth and upper torso, pinning his arms to his sides. I smirked as he struggled against my bandages that quickly spread out, wrapping around his body and binding his limbs until he was completely wrapped up with no way to move. When he was completely restrained, I slowly lowered him to the ground and then severed the bandages before I dropped to the ground in front of him and kneeled down while smiling at the struggling form as I said.
"Top of the morning to ya." Then activated my grootslang coat and pulled him into my shadow while pulling my own body into the shadows.
20 minutes
I was standing outside of the cell looking at the glaring form of the figure who I'd just finished questioning using my prosthetics nightmare ability to scare him into talking. Turns out there are nine other men like him who were serving Tenebraug, counting the head of the brotherhood who was in possession of the orb that they used to summon the demon. Apparently, they were preparing for a big ceremony in which they're gifted the blood ore from Tenebraug for the eyes they have sacrificed to him. It was then the cult member growled and said.
"You aren't going to be able to hide from my brothers for long, when I don't arrive at the ceremony." He chuckled. "And when they do you'll have all the redcaps coming after you." I shrugged.
"I've been in worse situations." He raised an eyebrow. "Don't ask!" I then walked back to the platform in the middle of the room. "Don't worry though, you'll be seeing your brothers in their own cells soon enough." With that said I had the platform rise so I could get out of the shadows and when I reached the middle level, I pulled out two curved daggers that were made out of blood red metal and had black leather wrappings. "So, this is what a weapon made from blood ore looks like." It did not look good in the least. "Glad I was able to catch the guy by surprise since I'd hate to have been cut by one of these things." I put them away in my spiderpack. "Now time to find out where this ceremony is taking place."
I then left my shadow and returned to the library just as two redcaps entered the library but before they could do anything I quickly released two snakes from my spiderpack and had them rush at the redcaps. The snakes quickly clamped their fangs down on the throats of the redcaps while pulling them into the room before anyone outside could notice them or hear the gurgle of the redcaps who were now foaming at the mouths. I pulled the redcaps up to me and had the snakes tighten their fangs on the redcap's necks, snapping them before the redcap's bodies turned to dust leaving only their caps behind. I picked up the caps and shrugged while saying.
"Nasty things with the blood dying them but good trophies for this trip." I put them away in my spiderpack. "Now back to what I was doing."
40 minutes later
It's been forty minutes since I captured that one cultist and, in that time, I'd had a few close calls with some redcaps but I quickly pulled them into my shadow and dealt with them, claiming their caps as trophies. Now I was hiding in the shadow of a human dressed in the same robes as the first cultist I faced, making his way down a hall since I figured he might be able to lead me right to the place where this ceremony I was told about would take place. I stood in the top room of my shadow coat and looked out the mirror that looked out of the shadows to see what was happening and saw him walking towards a large black metal door with their symbol painted in blood on the center of the door.
The doors opened to reveal a large circle shaped cavern with walls that had been carved smooth with tapestries hanging around the walls with burning torches between them. In the center of the room was a waist high black stone pedestal that had a bowl circling the bottom, with nothing on the top and surrounding it in front of each tapestry was one of the cultists holding a weapon made of blood ore in front of them. These weapons were clawed gauntlets, a great sword, a spear, a whip, a shield, a crossbow and a mace. The one that caught my attention the most was the one at the back behind the pedestal, since he was clearly the leader of this group since in addition to the robes that everyone else was, he also had a necklace made of blood ore with the seal of their cult hanging from it, on his chest. As for his weapon, it was a staff with seal of cult on top and four spikes on the sides and twisted pole holding it. This weapon was held in his left hand while in his right hand was some sort of orb covered by blood red cloth with the seal of the cult on the front so all in all the guy practically screamed evil leader. I quickly switched into the shadow of one of the tapestries to get a better view of the room and watched as the leader glared at the man whose shadow, I had just been hiding in and said.
"You're late brother." The man bowed.
"My apologies but I was trying to find our dagger wielding brother as he did not show up at our usual meeting place."
"It matters not as he must have a reason and as punishment for being late, he shall not be permitted to take part in the ceremony and may master Tenebraug when we find him." He nodded. "Now bring out your weapon so we may begin the ceremony." The figure pulled out an axe before taking his place in front of one of the tapestries. "Now as you all know, this is the ceremony where we shall receive the blood ore for our services to master Tenebraug who is no doubt pleased with our services in gathering the eyes from those of the five villages we attacked." They all chuckled while my blood boiled in anger and allowed my coats shadow to begin seeping around all the men except the leader since I wanted to handle him myself. "Now then, I have spoken to the master and he is fully organizing the new eyes in his collection so until he finishes, we must wait patiently for until he is done, the orb which allows us to summon him shall remain docile." I decided it was time to make my presence known as the shadows wrapped around their legs while I climbed out of the shadows and said.
"Sounds like a good news bad news situation to me." They all turned just as my feet hit the ground. "Good news for me, bad news for you." The leader glared at me.
"An outsider, capture him for the glory of master Tenebraug as his eye will make a fine sacrifice while his corpse will make a good meal for the redcaps." I smirked.
"Do you really think I'm that stupid." Before he could reply I had tendrils shoot out from my shadow that I had beneath the cultists, grabbing them by their arms and pulling them down into my shadow as they screamed in horror and shock with their weapons. "I was prepared to deal with your followers, but I wanted to deal with you on my own." He glared at me as the last of his brothers was pulled into the shadow that then returned to me.
"What are you?"
"Just a traveler who doesn't like what you've done to the people of this land." I then released my crystal spear. "You get one chance, give me the orb you use to summon the demon and come along peacefully to face punishment for your crimes or I'll put you with your pals and by the time I'm done with you, you'll be begging for death." He then smirked.
"You aren't the only one with tricks up his sleeve."
Before I could reply, my reflexes kicked in and I immediately did a swing kick from behind, decapitating a redcap that was sneaking up behind me. I watched as the redcap turned to dust and saw three more coming down towards me from down the hall as the leader ordered.
"KILL THE OUTSIDER!" I immediately turned around to reply but all I saw was an open passageway where he once and growled.
"Why do they always try to run away." I released the legs of my spiderpack as the redcaps came at me from behind and launched a crystal into their skulls, killing them instantly. "Well time for the hunt to begin." I then quickly chased after the leader down the tunnel.
Nobodies POV:
Hiccup rushed down the tunnel after the cult leader and when he came out of it he found himself standing on a long wooden walkway overlooking a long, wide and deep chasm that looked to go on for miles while the walls were littered with bridges, platforms and walkways that were crawling with redcaps. It was then Hiccup saw the head cultist on the other side of the chasm who had also taken notice of him before he pointed his staff at Hiccup while letting out a scream, gaining the attention of all the redcaps who turned to see what their master was pointing at. The moment their eyes landed on Hiccup though, they each let out battle cries and charged at him while the cult leader smirked and cut the ropes holding the bridge that lead to the other side before running away while Hiccup growled.
"How annoying."
He then charged down the walkway with multiple redcaps chasing after him, but he quickly dragged the crystal end of his spear across the wall on his left. A few seconds later, giant green crystals burst from the wall just as the redcaps past, pushing them off the walkway and into the depths of the chasm. Hiccup ignored them though as he quickly released his rhino helmet and began charging down the path towards a large group of redcaps, trampling over them with the rhino that took form around his body. As he charged though he didn't notice he was heading right for a dead end until he slammed right into it, crushing a redcap between him and the wall. Hiccup pulled away as the rhino disappeared before he looked around for the leader and noticed him running across the walkway on the other side. Hiccup looked behind himself and saw multiple recaps charging at him and smirked before tossing out two handfuls of grey makibishi towards them to deal with them.
Hiccup then quickly ran and jumped off the edge while spreading his wings, leaving the redcaps to scream behind him as they stepped on the makibishi which released a blast of wind, throwing them into the chasm. Hiccup came to land on a wooden platform and quickly began rushing off it and onto the walkway where he saw the leader run, hoping to catch up. As he did though, heard a battle cry from the other side and looked to see seven ropes with no less than nine redcaps on each, swinging towards the walkway he was on. Thinking fast, Hiccup released his boomerang and threw it towards the rope above the redcaps that were holding on, cutting the ropes and sending the redcaps screaming down into the chasm. Hiccup ignored them though as he caught his boomerang while he kept running down the walkway and throwing a few makibishi behind him to deal with the pursuing redcaps.
He quickly ran down the pathway stopping only for a moment when he passed an opening in the wall leading into a large cavern, full of charging redcaps and tossed in a handful of dark blue Loki balls that began bouncing against the walls to deal with them. As Hiccup ran down the pathway but it was then a group of redcaps holding bows jumped down from a higher floor and began firing arrows at him. Before the arrows could reach him though the sentinel metal discs came out and began flying around to block all the arrows while the sentinel metal needles flew out of his coat and at the redcaps, filling them with holes and killing them. Hiccup didn't withdraw the needles or the discs and instead sent the needles out in various directions to deal with multiple redcaps that were trying to get to Hiccup while the discs floated around him to block any other projectiles launched at him. Hiccup continued to rush down the walkway while also releasing the legs of his spiderpack along with the four snakes, using them to make short work of any redcaps that came at him.
It was then the leader finally came into view and Hiccup quickly threw his crystal spear towards the leader with the spear flying high and fast above the leaders' head. The spear landed three feet in front of the leader right before a crystal wall burst from the ground, cutting off the leaders escape route and making him stop. He turned to face Hiccup who smirked at the leader who turned to face Hiccup as he asked.
"Did you honestly think you'd be able to get away from me?" The leader smirked.
"I wasn't trying to escape you; I was just stalling for time."
He quickly pulled his headband over his eyes before taking the cover off the orb to reveal a red orb with an eye pattern inscribed on it with lines going around it. The eye pattern shone bright green before a red smoke formed in front of the leader before a large creature rose up from the smoke. This creature had three thick fingered hands, a sideways mouth with small tentacle like flaps on either side, seven eyes that were sticking out on tentacles above the mouth that had a pig like nose above it and on the creatures, belly was a large slit. Hiccup stepped back in shock at the sight of the creature as it said.
"Of sacred seal you did partake, now your sight you must forsake."
The slit in its stomach opened up to reveal countless eyes within it before Hiccup screamed as both his real eye and the eye of the dragon were pulled out of their sockets and into the collection of eyes in the demons' stomach which then closed while Hiccups eye sockets were sealed with skin. The leader laughed as he said.
"You were a fool to go up against my master." Before Hiccup could reply Tenebraug let out a roar of pain as the slit glowed emerald green while flames began forming on the brim, forcing the demon to open it up once more to reveal the eye of the dragon shining brightly." What have you done to my master?" Hiccup smirked.
"Your master took the eye of the dragon from me, an ancient artifact that recognizes me as its true master and it's clearly not happy with that demon taking it."
Tenebraug let out another roar while Hiccup used his ninja training to find where the leader was and released his sentinel metal blades at the leader who was too focused on his master to see them coming. The blades quickly wrapped around the leader, pinning his arms to his sides and dropping the orb before Tenebraug's entire body ignited, releasing all the eyes he'd collected that took the form of orange beams that flew out of the caverns to return to their rightful owners. These eyes included Hiccups eye and the eye of the dragon, making Hiccup blink a few times before smiling as he noticed the orb on the ground. He quickly launched his prosthetic and at it before the leader could react and grabbed onto the orb and a second later, pulled the chain connecting his hand to his prosthetic back into his arm, bringing both his hand and the orb with it. Hiccup had the end blade of his sentinel metal tail leave its place against the leader's stomach and lift his blindfold as he held out the orb and said.
"I figured you of all people should see this."
Hiccup then crushed the orb in his hand, shattering it releasing a small green shockwave making Tenebraug roar out in pain as his body turned to red mist that slowly dissipated into the air. As soon as the last bit of the demons' body was fully destroyed the leader let out a scream of absolute agony and although Hiccup couldn't see it, the other cultists were doing the same in their cells within his coat. Hiccup could only stand there and watch as the leaders body turned to nothing but dust, leaving nothing more than his robes behind along with his staff that had turned from blood red to coal black. Hiccup walked up to the robes and shrugged while summoning the blades back to their original place to form his tail as he said.
"Ash to ash, dust to dust." He then picked up the robes and staff. "Good trophies from this adventure." He put them away in his spiderpack before looking around and saw that most of the redcaps were still being killed by his sentinel metal needles. "Well looks like my needles are dealing with the redcaps." He nodded. "Good, no reason to let those little beasts continue to live and kill other innocents." It was then a red glow caught his attention and he turned to see a glowing red gem in the middle of the shattered remains of the orb. "What in the world?"
Hiccup didn't know what this gem was, but he knew it was bad news and could not be left alone which is when realization hit him and he pulled out the orb, Rooney gave him. He slowly reached the orb towards the gem but when they were inches apart, the orb split apart with the strips floating around in the shape of a sphere that moved to float around the gem that floated off the ground and into the center of the orb. They held still for a few seconds before the ball reformed around the jewel, trapping it within along with all that dark magic it was practically glowing with. With the gem completely captured, Hiccup took the ball and put it away in his spiderpack before he walked over to his spearand pulled his spear from the ground, shattering the crystal wall only to be greeted by a small hoard of redcaps charging at him. He smirked at them and said.
"Might as well help my needles finish off the remaining redcaps." He then charged at them to finish them off quickly.
8 hours later
Hiccups POV:
Four hours have past since I captured the gem in the sentinel metal ball and it has been four hours of exploring tunnels, killing redcaps and looting caverns of any valuables I could find which was actually quite a lot since there was a lot of gold and jewels along with the books from the library. I did reenter my shadow though to check on my prisoners and their weapons but all I found were cells full of dust with nothing but discarded robes while their weapons had also become black as coal. Now I was making my way back to the village in the light of the crescent moon that shone its pale light down on the Irish planes with the only other light being that of the torches shining in the village in the distance. I smiled at the sight of the village and could easily tell there was a celebration going on in the village and I was looking forward to it since the Irish knew how to throw a good party. Of course, I knew my wives weren't going to be happy with what happened in those caves and tunnels, especially how I lost my own eyes to the demon. For now, though I figure it'd be best if I took my time getting back since the Irish night was peaceful and that is something I was not going to get back at the village. With this in mind I continued to walk and took the long way back to the village.
AN: And that brings an end to this chapter and I was hoping to ask what's wrong with the last one since it only got two reviews which is pretty hurtful since I put a lot of effort into that chapter since the ideas for peace are few. Anyway, I hope you all at the very least enjoyed this chapter with the twists and turns along with those hideous creatures for Halloween while bringing us back to Ireland after so long. He may have gone to Scotland a few times along with Britain but he hasn't been to Ireland in a while, so I figured why not which is why we're now here. Now then I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, review and have a nice day.
