Korra ran at Davaa and with a single wave of his paper fans, He got launched into the wall. "How am I supposed to get past him?!" It had been a month since Davaa came and he had become a regular sparring partner. "Use your head for once, I'm pretty sure Gran gran, me and Wanze taught you something, and prove to me it wasn't a waste of time," Kuzon said reading the newspaper.
Davaa sighed and let Korra run right into his rage before Roundhouse kicked her next to Kuzon. "You're annoying," Davaa said calmly. Korra stomped and launched the boy into the air. She ran to the door and then the air bender landed in front of her for once actually angry and he kicked her into a pile of snow. "If it was any other bender I would have been impressed but doing that to an air-bending master is like throwing a fish into a lake because you thought it would be easier to catch." Korra pouted at him and stood back up to a now annoyed Davaa who was constantly waving his fan enhanced by his air bending turned into strong blasts, making it impossible to even stand longer than a few seconds. "You can do it Korra! Just use your brain and if you make it I will give you a week off." Korra starts actually gaining some ground using her water bending to freeze her boots between each step. Davaa waved the fans' side ways to cut the ice and another air blast into the wall. "Well I was already going to give myself a week off. Davaa, your cousin is visiting, so be prepared to get a drop kicked." Davaa had already disappeared at the mention of his cousin.
Korra stood up rubbing her arms. "Why did you want me to run past him?" Kuzon sighed in frustration Only noticed by the guards. "to teach you some humility. Mostly because I'm worried you might challenge a Volcano one day." Korra just gave a confused look to Kuzon. "Take a break kid, at least you saw an opening and used it." Korra smiled at the minor praise.
I was laying in bed and imagining what Master Kuzon's kid would be? They might be as big as the strict master. Davaa seemed to be afraid of them? Are they really that scary? What if they're a master like Davaa?! She really didn't want to fight against two masters at once! Oh no, what if Master Kuzon joined them and turned into a test and on the last day of the week she had to fight against all of them?!
I decided to start training so Master Kuzon didn't surprise me! After a good night's sleep.
He stood at the port with a smile and bit of worry to see the ship from afar, however he looked upwards to see a certain fire bender kicking the air with each pop she flew higher or lower and the Kuzon just sighed as she jetted toward him and she landed into a bear hug. They just stayed silent enjoying the warmth and the serene silence, they breathed in unison and Kazuki spoke first, almost whispering. "I missed you." Both just tightened their grip to make sure either would ever leave.
Kuzon finally spoke up. "Kuki, please don't dropkick your cousin." At that moment a tiny bit of her great grandmother awakened one of the fragments that all of Azula descendants had. A sadistic bit of joy grew in Kazuki and became giddy with excitement of seeing her favorite cousin.
Kuzon waited with her daughter who stood annoyed at not getting to see her favorite victim. "Mom's been really happy about seeing you, said something about breaking the bed like your honeymoon." One of Kuzons eyes twitched. "Oh and she said she wanted to have another baby and then aunt Pema laughed through the phone like a screaming monkey." Kuzon laughed. "Hihihihi." Kazuki sighed at her fathers odd behavior. "You're going to be sleeping at great gran gran." Kuki just looked disgusted as she felt her skin crawl, thanking whatever spirit that her (nice) great grandmother was still alive. "How's home been? Any sign of triads being a nuisance?"
Kuki spoke with an annoyed look. "Yea, mom's been chi blocking them and making sure they don't get too cocky, I got an apprenticeship as a glass blower." Kuzon smiled at her and patted her head. "You already have the lungs for it." She with pride before pulling out a marble from her bag. "End of my year test." Zukon took it and looked into a rainbow vortex captured in glass marble. "Beautiful. Not as Beautiful as the girl who made it but still." She blushed at her father's praise. "Mom has her own, she shows it off to any one who asks about me." Kuzon pulled her into an arm one hug. "This is the best gift. I honestly wish I got you something." He spoke a bit guilty. "I'm just happy to be here with you daddy." Then the ship finally made land and Yumi ran down the stairs and her first act was grabbing Kuki by the ear. "Young lady! What did I tell you about flying off while I'm talking?!" Kuki Looked completely terrified as her mother lectured her on being polite.
Kuzon was filled with nostalgia, he had missed his princesses.
Kuzon came to his gran's house and the first thing that happened were teenagers glaring at each other. Only for them to stop and to fight over their great grandmother's attention but that stopped easily once Katara started talking about her adventures. It was odd. They had heard the stories a hundred times since they were seven and even now they were hypnotized by the tales of the last air bender.
The adult in the room being the mister whose great grandfather was the antagonist of the story was a bit uncomfortable once the daughter of said great grandfather came up. He viewed his late grandmother with respect and ire mainly because of the multiple attempted murders, immunizations against beings from hell and daily swims through cold rapid rivers. He never liked remembering his grandmother, one thing that was different from her younger days was an a hint humility. Azula knew to retreat and as she aged her bitterness toward her family had been softened and she could sit with her mother for longer than twenty minutes before the voices took over. "Yes, those are always a mess to deal with." Kuzon took a breath in, ignoring sadistic voice in his head.
After story time, Davaa and Kazuki had their duel. Unlike with Korra, Kuki knew how to read air benders, their movements always told her what was coming, when to strike, when to block. Winning against an air-bender meant both seeing and hearing as wind protests against being molded. No Davaa didn't have the luxury of being able to outwit his combatant this time. Kuki was quick on the draw launching two fireballs one punch and kick, Davaa answered the fire kick with a block and ducked at punch spinning rapidly launching a stream of air at the fire bender feet. Said fire bender front flipped and while still squatting she sent an inferno of fire at the air who span his staff at her creating an air funnel. This air funnel did its job launching Kuki off her feet and into the show.
"I won?" He asked surprised, looking at his uncle, aunt and great gran gran. "I WON! Kiss my dust! Yuhuu! I thought this only happened after I lost an arm and figured out how to tame spirits!" The airbender lively he went into the air doing hoops laughing his lungs out. "Kuki smelled like grass! Because I beat her into ash!" Kuzon sighed that the boy wasn't a poet.
Kuki smiled at her cousin and stood wiping away the snow. "We're gonna have a rematch in the city and see who wins next baldy." She said chuckling and with a bit of shaky legs rebalancing herself. Davaa smiles. "Sure loser." Kuki pouted and launched a fire ball which he easily dodged. "Getting slower with age granny?" Oh that was the last he said before he got pulled by the ear and stomped into the snow. "I Sorry!" He said, honestly most people treated davaa like a porcelain doll when they learned he was blind but oh none of that came from Kuki. "Sorry what?" She demanded and the adults knew well, they needed to fix it themselves. "Sorry I called you a granny." She let go and Kuki, if to show there were no ill feelings left, spoke up. "Let's celebrate! Davaa Beat me!" She said her frustrations were hidden behind a forced smile.
The family went to a restaurant and enjoyed their fill on food and drinks.
At night the compound was a celebration of passion.
At the end of Korra's vacation (and intensive training) she walked to the compound to find A girl three years her senior. "This place is restricted to pipsqueak." Kuki spoke with arrogance toward and annoyance. "Better leave before the guards come from their lunch, I didn't join them because I already had too much stew for breakfast. Honestly I'm just waiting for my parents to wake up." Korra stared at Young adult, a glass hair stick. She wore the usual like her father. There was nothing to protect her against the cold, it was even worse with her Sleeveless shirt, tight pants and some mild make up. Korra was annoyed with yet blushed at her. "I'm the Avatar, I-I'm Allowed to be here."
Kuki gave her a threatening yet somehow seductive look. "You're just adorable, Just a warning I have beaten grown men twice your size and I'm sure you couldn't beat an actual master even if your life depended on it." Kuki teased but unlike with Davaa she truly didn't respect Korra to any degree.
Korra, however the most hot blooded person in the world, saw this as a challenge. "Oh yea?! I challenge you to an Agni kai!" Kuki looked unimpressed at Korra pointing at her and burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Oh wait." She took one more breath of hair before continuing to laugh. "What? That's how you say it right?" Korra was confused about many things currently, Kuki just continued her laughing fit for another ten minutes.
After the long fit Kuki started calming down. "Ok, that was a great joke, it gave me a really great laugh." Korra looked offended, she hardened her stance and demanded. "I want to fight you!" Kuki placed her arm over her chest and swung her arm at the wall showing off an amazing display of fire, even taking the form of a dragon that devoured the wall, melting it completely. "There's a difference, I am a Master. Never run at a dragon before you can walk, pipsqueak." Kuki stepped forward and Korra fell as she realized the magnitude between her and Kuki. "I earned my title and you can't even keep your footing at seeing a real master." Yumi came out of the house running. "We're Late! We're late, we're late!" Yumi picked her daughter up like luggage and ran out of the compound. Kuzon came out limping. "Korra, no training today, Agni! I'm sure she broke something." He limped back in while, Korra still in shock, one phrase stayed with her "Never run at a dragon before your can walk"
Author's note: Ok going on a little break. Let's check the list before the next time skip. "Introduce multiple characters." Check.
Give Korra an actual character development that will follow her to republic city. Check.
Use Appa's bones and horns for cool weapons. Still in concept.
Innuendoes. Check
Rewrite the spirit world in Korra to make some ounce of sense. Partially check.
Rewrite Raava and Vaatu's Origin so they aren't just a metaphor for Ultimate evil vs Ultimate good? Will be Check.
Use Buddhist lore like Warrior monks and mantras in book two instead of the glowing Jinora deus ex machine? Planned out.
Make Korra a character important to the plot and not just a plot device? please give me strength.
Don't over focus on your Oc's idiot! Damn! I knew I forgot something!
