"So stay." Chase heard Kitty sing.
"Stay!" This time, Chase heard Ryder too.
He stepped out of the shadows. "What's going on in here?"
"Hey, Chase." Ryder greeted.
"Why are the lights off?" Chase demanded, snapping them on.
Ryder instinctively covered his eyes. Making Chase more suspicious. "I couldn't sleep, so I decided to play video games, and didn't feel the need to waste electricity."
"What about you?" Chase turned on Kitty, who just sat there looking smug.
"Is it illegal to get a midnight snack now?" She gestured to the remaining fur of her mouse.
"Why didn't you turn on the lights?" Chase narrowed his eyes.
"Didn't see the switch."
"But you saw Ryder?"
"Jeez," Ryder interrupted, fuming. "Can't you see this?" He shined his puppad throughout the room. "I'm tired of your suspicion, Chase. We're not doing anything, you know how I feel like that."
"The feeling is mutual," Kitty added.
"You did it before!" Chase contradicted.
"That was a freakin' accident!" Kitty and Ryder shouted simultaneously.
"But you did…"
"It doesn't matter!" Ryder said, at the same time Kitty nodded. "What's done is done!"
"I'm going to bed." Ryder stomped out of the room.
Kitty shook her head at Chase. "Nosy pup."
She left, leaving Chase alone in the room with his thoughts. What have I done?
