Chapter 2: Bad Habits aren't for Heroes
Izuku got used to his new living conditions rather nicely. His room is twice the size of his old one back home, has the double number of things he thought he needed...
The bed is nice too, I guess?
As he laid on the nice bed, looking at the nice roof, he thought; what a horrible decision this was.
He rubbed his face, yeah, this is for the good of Hayabusa, but for fuck's sake! What the fuck is he, a problem child of the Lawless District, do in Tokyo, before getting into UA! And what can he wait once he enters? Nezu said that he needs a sponsor to grow faster.
Who in their right mind will pick him!?
"Oh! Izuku-Kun!" he groaned as he heard Miss Kayama enter his apartment. He dragged himself to his feet and went to greet her.
"Ma'am." Izuku greeted as he stretched. He was wearing a white tank top, blue shorts and to compliment it all, cigarette in his mouth.
"Oh Izuku-Kun." Midnight said as she snatched the smoke from his mouth, opened the window and threw it there "I told you to not call me that, it makes me feel old."
Izuku grumbled because of the feeling of not having tabaco smoke in his mouth anymore "Force of habit, I guess. Ma taught me to be a gentleman after all."
Midnight chuckled "And she did a great job. But anyway, how are you adapting to the city?"
Izuku shrugged as he jumped onto the couch and shrugged "As good as I can I guess."
Midnight frowned "And why don't you go to party somewhere? Do things that young people do."
"I don't know what young people do here. And you don't let me drink or smoke so; any ideas ma'am?"
Midnight tapped her chin "Well... why don't you go to an arcade?"
"Not big on videogames."
Midnight frowned "A karaoke?"
"Alone? No thanks. Besides; I don't like to sing."
Midnight gave him a small glare "There's this hero convention some blocks away from here."
"Because I just love capes."
Midnight flicked his forehead "What's your deal now?" Izuku asked annoyed and noticed that Midnight was somehow more annoyed that him.
"Get up. I am dragging you to the hero convention."
"Why?"
"For you to get used to them."
Izuku was going to argue but one glare from the hero, kept him silent. He opened his flip phone and looked at a message from a good friend of his in Hayabusa.
'How's the big city treating ya?-Ashe'
'I'll call you later. -Izuku'
Midnight hummed as she exited the building. After forcing Izuku to get dressed, they were ready to go and see the convention. "Are you ready Izu...Ku-Kun..." She asked seeing that he was nowhere to be seen.
Izuku, that the second he left the building, using his enhanced speed, ran five blocks away from Midnight. Now, the Ranger was smoking, his hands in his brown coat. He is wearing jeans, brown cowboy boots, a yellow button up shirt, a black cowboy hat and a brown coat.
He exhaled smoke and smiled. He took out his phone and quick dialed 'Ashe'.
"Hey money bags." Izuku greeted and the voice laughed.
"Save this moment in your mind, I missed you saying that." Elizabeth Caledonia, or Ashe how her friends call her due to the color of her hair, a childish nickname that stuck over the time. The Caledonia family, the one rich family in Hayabusa, that basically rule the district, giving money to the mayor, school, hospital and Rangers.
Even though it is rumored to be in the pocket of Kartel, they are basically, the financial spine of the Lawless District.
While Elizabeth is the successor of her family wealth, she became a close friend of Izuku and even enrolled into the Ranger Academy, being the second-best student, just behind Izuku.
Izuku laughed "I will Ashe, I will. How are things going over there?"
"Good as always. But my folks pulled me out of the academy and are looking for... suitors." She basically spat the word and Izuku huffed.
"Do the same you always did, scare them away with your charming personality."
"I am charming, but it is a specific type of charm, not for everyone." Ashe laughed and Izuku did too "So, excited to become the 'hero of Hayabusa?'"
Izuku groaned as he took a drag of his smoke "Not at all. I am not adapting one bit here. And class begin in one month."
Ashe hummed "Then why did you-"
"I don't know, it sounded as a good idea one week ago."
"Well cowboy, I wish you luck. The love of my life just arrived. Time to scare the piss out of him. See ya."
As Izuku hung up he groaned. What to do now? The sun is setting so he better go back...
"Hey you! The country bumpkin!" Izuku starred at the masked man pointing to him "Do you have a smoke?"
Izuku blinked unamused "You call me country bumpkin and then ask me for a smoke?"
"Yes! I'm sorry about that. No, I'm not!"
Izuku sighed. A looney just appeared it seems. He took his last cigarette from his coat and handed it to him. "Ast one I had. Need any fire Mr..."
As the looney put the cigarette in his mouth through the mask he nodded "I do." As he said that he waited for Izuku to light the smoke "And I'm Twice."
Izuku took a match and lighted it with his boot. After lighting the cigarette, he shook it to kill the flame "Well Mr. Twice, I'm Izuku. Enjoy the smoke."
Izuku turned away towards his department, and Twice rushed to his side "Say! Because you gave me your last cigarette, what if I invite you to drink? As a showing of our new friendship!"
Izuku raised an eyebrow before smirking "You know what Twice, I think we are going to be good friends."
*One Wild Night Later*
"I'm... never going to drink again..." Izuku said as he stumbled shirtless, still with his hat on towards the sink. He sunk his head on the running water, praying for his hungover to leave.
"Yeah..." Twice, sprawled on the couch agreed. "Do you want to go tonight again?"
"Sure, why not. Do you have a hangover recipe?"
"Do you have eggs?"
"Yeah..."
Midnight was not one bit pleased.
