October

"You know, I don't remember morning sickness being this bad."

"It's been over five years since you had it last. I've heard other women say that it's like you forget what you went through to have the baby or you would never have another one." Jyn says as she rubs Rey's back just like she always did with London. "I know I sound really old fashioned, but are you going to marry Ben soon?"

"Mama—" her words are taken because—when she can speak again, she says, "I just keep telling myself that excessive morning sickness means a healthy baby."

"That's right. are you ready for some ginger ale?"

"And a ice pack?"

"Of course."

Brbrbrbrbr

Couple of weeks ago…

"Are you sure?" he asks.

"No, but I don't know how else to do it," she answers. She's felt bad all day, no matter what she tries—nothing helps.

"We can still make it special."

"And I want to, it's just I feel so bad. I just want to go lay down and take a nap and I'm not even ten weeks yet." He holds out his arms and she falls into him. There was the normal amount of morning sickness but then the twelve-week mark came and instead of it going away, it feels like it's getting worse. A visit to Dr. Oliver confirms what she expected: a diagnosis of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Or morning sickness that leaves mom really sick. She did this with London, so the ice packs ready in the freezer along with whatever it is she's craving—this week it's watermelon and grapes—in little containers. "I don't want to scare them, but they know something is happening."

"They do—" he agrees with her. One of his forehead kisses that she loves so much. But instead of letting her go, he murmurs, "Can I plan something?"

"What are you thinking?" she leans back but only so she can meet his eyes. She loves him so much-

"Early Christmas present? Can we include our parents in on this?" he asks. She must look pitiful because he runs his fingers through her hair. His touch feels so good, she wants to melt into it.

"That would be the easiest thing to do."

"Just leave everything to me.

"Are you sure? Rose can help."

"Have you told her yet?"

She grabs his hand and brings his palm up to her mouth. A kiss right in the middle and he moves until he cups her cheek. "I haven't—I wanted it to be a secret—we don't get to have many."

"I know." A quick kiss. "Get some rest. I need to go shopping."

Brbrbrbrbr

"I think I need to take a leave." Rey says. it's been another bad day and it's not fair to her students.

"Have you talked to Dr. Ackbar yet?

"Ben called?" Rose nods, a huge grin on her face. Ben explained the desire for secrecy especially since they haven't told their families yet. "I got the official diagnosis or a doctor's note. It just feels so weird having to stay home because I can't eat half the time."

"I know, but it will be alright. You have Ben now, and if nothing else, rent out your house and move in with him."

"Yeah, we do need to figure out the housing situation." Rey gathers her garbage and stands. "Wish me luck and say a little prayer."

"You got it, babe."

Brbrbrbrbr

"It was kinda amazing actually. Dr. Ackbar said that understood and to let them know when I could come back. Evidently his wife had this with all four of their kids." Pulling into her driveway has never been more of a relief.

"I love you. Now go on in, lay on the couch and I'll get the kids."

"Thank you! I love you." She didn't think she'd feel this way after Dr. Ackbar granted her leave but it feels dang good. Now she can at least rest.

"Now, remember, pick them up at 2:30. You might have to go in, but Rose is there."

"Go rest," Ben gently orders. "I can do this."

"Thank you." And now she's crying. Oh, pregnancy hormones. How you haven't been missed.

"Alright, my ten o'clock is here. Love you, bye," he repeats himself, but it's become their normal goodbye that he's even said to Hux several times. Now the two partners use it as much as they do.

"Love you, bye." She waits for the radio to return to the normal screen of the local radio station before she turns off the vehicle. The nausea she's been low key feeling all morning— yeah it's even worse now since she's home.

She barely gets the front door open to Ben's house before she's in his guest bathroom— now more tears as the old worries from when she was pregnant with London come rushing back. Is she getting enough nutrients for the baby to grow? What if she has to go to the hospital? What if this pregnancy—she shakes her head at those bad thoughts. She can't move yet but she does cover her lower stomach protectively, where she can feel the baby bump.

"We're going to be just fine in there. I do wish you wasn't like your big sister though. You know we can do this without making me so sick." It takes her another moment, but she manages to get to her feet, grabs her cell and a bag of ice. A deep breath and she trudges up the stairs to his room. There, she collapses onto his bed.

There, surrounded by his scent, you know like in those A/B/O fanfics she loves to read, she buries herself under the covers. After removing her shoes and the dress she wore to school this fall day.

Moments later, she's fast asleep…

Brbrbrbrbr

"Hello Mother," Ben answers as he picks up his cell.

"Hey—is everything alright?" Leia asks, worry evident in her tone. She must have driven by their houses.

"It is."

"Then why is Rey home in the middle of the day? Oh no is one of the kids sick?"

"No, she had somethings she had to do." Ben decides to go with. He almost has everything together, just waiting on one more package from Etsy— "Mom, everything's ok. can you and dad come over for dinner—"

"Tonight? We can't—" Leia says.

"No, tomorrow." Tomorrow's Friday, he can get off work early, grab the kids, and go—probably pick up pizza.

"Yes, we can do tomorrow. Do you want me to bring anything?"

"Actually—" he then gets the best idea he's ever had since letting Caleb go play with London that first time after Rey and London moved in. A trip across the yard that he of course, had to go too, on. "Why don't we have soup? It's getting chilly, so bring a pot of Grandma Padme's chicken soup? And I'm going to invite Jyn and Cassian so make a little extra."

Brbrbrbrbr

The next day…

"Mama! Rose said to give you this—" London gives her a pack of papers. Instead of lesson plans, like she expects, it's cards and drawings from her class—and it looks like...

"Did you see mine yet?" London giggles.

"Where's mine?" Caleb asks.

"Hang on, hang on—" Rey chuckles. It's going to be neat and weird all at the same time with a new baby here. "Here, London you sit here, Caleb you get on this side." She loves how they just tuck themselves into her sides. "Caleb, did your class make one too?"

"We did. All the classes did. Why are you home? Why can't we be home too?"

"Well—" thankfully Ben comes in. "Look it's Daddy. And see who's behind him—" she doesn't get to finish because each kid is off the couch, tackling their set of grands. Then, they switch, which Rey loves.

And that's when Rey realizes that she's glad she did get a shower in today and regular clothes even if it's just an old school shirt and a pair of his boxers—and Ben did tell her they were coming over. If pregnancy brain is already starting, she's going to have to write everything down.

"Stay there." Ben mutters as he joins her. Instead of sitting, he clears his throat. "Mom, Dad? Jyn? Cassian? Why don't all of you take a seat?"

"Son?" Han says.

"Come on, guys, let's sit down," Jyn says as she herds the kids to sit by her on the love seat.

It takes them a moment, but soon both families sit. "Alright." Ben claps his hands together like he does when he's nervous. "Presents!"

"Presents?" all four parents murmur together.

"Yeah, we didn't want to wait till Christmas." From a bag that Rey didn't realize was there, he pulls out six wrapped boxes, and quickly passes them out. The kids are already ripping paper while he has to say, "Go ahead and open them."

Somehow, she remembers to grab her phone and record.

London and Caleb gets their open first, but it's Jyn, who gasps the loudest. But when she whispers, "Rey?" she can hear the tears in her mom's voice.

The gifts are simple, really. the grandparent shirts say, "Grandparents again" then below it, 2023. While London and Caleb's say, "big brother" and "big sister".

"A baby?" Leia asks through her tears. "I can't believe it—"

"Rey? how are you feeling?" Jyn asks.

"What's wrong? Was London a difficult pregnancy?" Leia asks.

"What's that?" London asks. "I'm not difficult. Or pregnancy." She jumps up, new shirt forgotten and runs to Rey's side. "Mama?"

"London-kins, pregnancy means that I'm going to have a baby. You get to be a big sister and Caleb will be a big brother."

"Oh ok." She turns to walk back to Jyn but stops to look back at her mother. "Do I have to wear my shirt now?"

"No, you don't," Rey answers but not before she notices Ben as he gives her that look that questions everything that just happened.

Poor Caleb looks like he has questions, but London drags him into the kitchen. The rest of the adults look at her like she should know the answer, and for once, she kind of does. "She acted that way because the baby isn't real yet, when I start to show more, she'll understand more."

"That makes sense," Cassian agrees.

"Good, she had me worried there for a minute." Ben sinks onto the couch beside her.

"Is the sickness as bad as it was before?" Jyn murmurs.

"It is, but there's some new medicines out but they aren't working." She's not sure why she's nervous to tell them, but when she says, "I took a leave from work."

She can't even bear to look up to see their faces. But when Han, the biggest work-a-holic of them all says, "I think that's a good idea."

"Of course, it is," Cassian adds. "You need to focus on you and the baby right now. Everything else will fall into place."

"Rey? Oh sweetheart," Leia comes over to join them. Ben's mom pulls her close in a side hug and kisses her on the forehead. "I remember Jyn telling me how sick you were with London. And while it seems that it's coming back, you have even more people around you to support and love you all."

She's not sure why, but a weight rolls off her shoulders as her eyes well up with tears. "Now, what are we going to do about Halloween next week?"

Brbrbrbrbr

"Come on kids, Daddy's reading tonight—" Rey tells her short people as they brush their teeth. The nausea isn't as bad and it might be that Leia was right—her chicken soup really is magical.

"Will you come too?" Caleb asks as he slips his hand in hers. The little boy looks as serious as Ben does sometimes.

"Of course. Is London done?" She hears the water turn off for her answer before her kid slips her hand in hers.

"Here I am."

The kids lead her Caleb's room where Ben is sitting on the bed with the fairytale bedtime stories in his hand. "There—what's wrong?"

She loves that he immediately notices the mood of the usually bouncy kids. "I'm not sure."

"Come sit you two." The parents wait for them to sit before Ben asks, "What's going on?"

Their eyes meet and Rey loves how close these two are. Caleb nods. "Is it the baby that's making you sick? What will happen to us if—" his little amber eyes will up with tears as he struggles to understand.

"Caleb—oh sweetie, it's nothing like that." She climbs on the bed too. "No one's really sure why it happens but sometimes mama's get sick—but not like runny nose and cough sick you're used to. We need to call it something else—"

"Mama has gas?" Ben suggests making the kids giggle but Rey shake her head but with a smile.

"Noooo how about mama has elephants or something like that?" She suggests.

"I like Mama has gas better," London giggles.

"I'm starting to think that I'm being out voted here," she moans, loudly which makes them all giggle. "Alright. So, when I'm not feeling good—"

"We'll say that Mama has gas!" Caleb, catching the teasing mood, joins in. But she knows that he's still scared. His own mother hasn't seen him in over a year.

"Caleb, are you a little worried that something might happen to me?" His little eyes tell her how scared he is. "I have a wonderful doctor who knows how to treat how I'm feeling—"

"You mean your gas?" London asks.

"Yes, the gas." She exhales and tries not to show how tired she is— "my doctor knows how to keep the gas away."

"Ok. Can I sleep with Caleb?" London asks, always so protective of him.

Her eyes meet Ben's. A smile between them as he agrees, "Yes if it's alright with him." And it is because he pulls back the covers as she hurries under them.

After many kisses Ben turns off the light before he joins her in the hallway. "Bed?" he whispers.

"I think so?" She steers them down the hallway. "I guess we need to discuss things."

"Oh?" He turns on the overhead light as she kicks off her slippers. "What sort of things do we need to discuss?"

"We have two houses."

"Ah yes." they both pull down the covers. he sits on his side of the bed and opens his arms. a smile of relief and she joins him.

"And that was a long day," she murmurs into his chest.

He kisses her on the forehead as he squeezes her tight. "Well now, you are right where you need to be."

"Ditto." A loud exhale and she lets her body relax. But she can't stop thinking… "What are we going to do?"

"We could sell both houses and buy a big one. After we pay back your parents of course." She smiles even though he can't see it. "We could live in one and rent the other. Which Hux was saying the other day that if we wanted to rent out one, he and Rose might want it. They can't find an apartment or condo to suit both of them."

"That would be nice to be able to pick our neighbors."

"I thought you'd like that."

"But—" she says. "If Rose and Hux can't find anything, then how are we going to?"

"That was the other point. We could sit tight, rent out the one of the houses and wait. I know it sucks—"

"We can make it work. The baby will sleep in here with us anyway for at least the first year or so."

"That long?" he asks. He even shifts and she looks up to meet his eyes.

"Oh—" she wants to ask about Caleb's mother, but she knows how much this hurts them both. So instead, she continues, "I nursed London for almost two years. I'd like to do that with this one, too."

"I like that idea." His wide smile makes her return it. "It's amazing how much you can love someone and haven't even met them yet." The hand on her back trails around her until he covers that sweet spot between her belly button and the top of her pelvis.

"I know it's too soon to feel, but I wish we could go ahead and feel the baby."

"It won't be long now. I mean you're already what, fifteen weeks. And we can start feeling them at seventeen?"

"Someone's been doing his homework," she coos.

"I have been. I was too busy with Snoke and everything to pay attention when she was pregnant with Caleb. This one, I plan on being there every moment."

"How are you so perfect?" She whispers, her eyes are watery from her tears.

"Are you—" he tilts her head back so she can see him. "Hormones?" he asks before he kisses her tears.

"Yes and no. I love you Ben Solo."

"And I love you Rey Andor soon to be Solo." His grin widens. "Do you wanna?"

"Yeah, I do."

"You do?" he teases but it's enduring too.

"I do. Whatcha going to do about it?"

A kiss— "A kiss here." On her lips. "And here." A kiss on her cheek then her ear with a bite on her earlobe that sends a delightful shiver down her spine.

"I get what you're doing. How about if I do this?" She kisses him on the cheek before she takes his ear between her teeth. He rewards her with a groan of his own. "I like the sound of that."

"You should. I think we should get naked."

"You do have the best ideas, Mr. Solo." They wiggle apart but then she remembers, "shut the door?"

"Oh yeah—" he hurries and when she hears the click of the doorknob, she shimmies out of her pajama bottoms before he rejoins her. She can't help but to giggle when she tosses them at him. He catches them but then pouts. "I was going to do that."

"Next time. We might need to hurry—"

"Ah yes. You didn't see what I did," he brags as he starts to strip too.

"I did." Her shirt's off, and she crawls towards him on her knees where she steals a kiss. there behind him is the dorm sized refrigerator she noticed earlier. She's not sure where he found it, but when she peeked inside earlier, she cried. Then a little more when she saw that it was packed full of ginger ale and ice packs. And there's plenty of crackers on top. "Thank you."

"Anything for you." Down to his birthday suit, he helps her with the last of her clothes. Before he joins her on the bed, he asks, "How are you feeling?"

"I'm good." And she really is. "Do you think that maybe your mom's soup really is magical?"

"Let's not talk about my mother right now, but it probably is." He settles on the bed beside her and she pulls the covers up. "Do you want on top?"

"No, I think on all fours with you behind?"

"You do like that one, don't you?" he quips.

He can still make her blush, and she rises up on her knees to meet him. "I like it when you fuck me like that," she mutters just before she claims his lips.

"On all fours, then," he murmurs against her lips.

She loves the way his eyes light up as she turns to offer him her backside. And she loves the way he growls as he runs his hands over the curve of her ass and makes her want him even more. "Damn you're gorgeous," he says.

"Are you talking to me or to my bottom?" But then he does that thing that he does when he runs the head of his erection along her slit stealing all ability to make words. She moans and arches back into his touch, her body silently begging for more.

And that's when he slides in.

After days and weeks of feeling sick—she gasps then a breathless chuckle escapes because he feels so good. "That's what I need. Fuck me, baby."

"Like that?" he begins to move and every nerve in her body lights up with pleasure.

Her eyes roll back as she hisses, "Please—"

"Please what Sweetheart? Do you want me to be easy on you?" He slows down to show her. "Or do you want me fast?"

"Fast please," she groans as his thrusts speed up.

"How's that?" he growls.

"Amazing—" and it is. It's been a while since they've been able to—they both gasp as he hits that spot that only he can— "Ben…"

He stops, much to her disappointment. "Am I hurting you?"

"What? No!" he's still deep inside so she pushes back against him fill. "Please—" before she's done uttering the plea he's balls deep again. This time he doesn't stop until they both come together, moaning each other's names.

Brbrbrbrbr

"Mama, can I be Snow White again?" London asks.

Rey looks up from the book she's reading. "Well yeah, I guess. I thought you were going to be— oh crud. I'm sorry, love. Who were—"

"Maybe Elsa. Or Mulan. I'm not sure."

"Mama!" Caleb comes running into the living room. "I want to be Kylo Ren again!"

"Wait—I thought you were going to be—"

"Darth Vader." London adds.

"Darth Vader. Didn't daddy already order the costume?" Rey asks trying to make sense of all this. "Ben? Where are you?"

"I'm heating the rest of Mom's soup, what's going on?" He asks as he wipes his hands with one of the tea towels she hangs for decoration.

She's told him again and again… "Come on kids. Follow Daddy and let's go talk."

It was Ben's idea to let Caleb and London help more in the kitchen. They love it so much it's easier to let them help. She sits, while the kids and Ben set the table.

He sets her bowl of soup in front of her and for a long moment, as she inhales the goodness and the love from the chicken soup it's like Leia cooked generations of prayers and hopes into this simple soup.

And the best part? It soothes the ever-present nausea that has been lingering since the extra pink line showed up on the test months ago.

She must have quite the look on her face because Ben and the kids are all staring when she looks up. "What? It's really good."

They all smile, and Ben reaches out for her. She catches his hand and squeezes back when he first does hers. "You seem to be feeling better?"

She nods as she inhales. "I am. I need to send your mom flowers while I ask for more soup."

"As you wish." Ben then focuses his attention to the kids. "Now what are you plans for Halloween?"

Rey doesn't miss how they exchange looks. "What are you two planning?"

"it's just you've been sick— gas. You've had gas," Caleb explains. "And we were just figured that it would be easier to wear our costumes from last year and—" he pauses and the way he looks to London—it makes her smile at how much they need each other.

"—we don't have to have any presents from Santa."

"No, the presents from Santa are ok. Mama and Daddy don't have to get us anything," Caleb says.

"Oh, that's right."

"Guys—" she says.

But Ben who finishes. "London, Caleb. Come here." He waits for the kids to walk around the table, one on each side. There he pulls them close into a huge hug. "Just because Mama is pregnant, and trust me, things are going to change, but it's going to be good. But as for right now, you can do what you want to for Halloween. I doubt you can wear the ones from last year though. Mama can order new ones or old ones." he pauses and the kids grin. "As for Christmas—why would you tell us not to get you presents?" He kisses each of them on the forehead. "You silly geese. Don't you know that parents like finding the perfect presents for their kids? And," she loves how he lowers his voice like he's telling them this great secret. And in this moment, it feels like it. "Your mom over there, loves to order stuff and the delivery person will bring it right to our door."

"Yeah, mama always likes to do that," London says.

"You hush—" she giggles as she pulls London to her side. A tickle and a kiss that ends in a hug.

"Are you really better?" London asks, worry evident on her face from the way her eyes widen, as she reaches for her.

"For now. and hopefully more of Lala's soup will help us all feel better."

"Wow this baby causes a lot of gas, doesn't it?" Caleb giggles.

Ben ruffles his hair and more smiles, kisses and tickles. "Let's finish eating so you can pick out costumes."

Brbrbrbrbr

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. our parents are here. take our dads with you. I'll stay here and give out candy." She pauses long enough to kiss his cheek. "It will be fun." She twirls in her new dress. still not sure why she chose this, she's wearing a long blue robe with a wide, pink bow. She's chosen not to wear the wig-

"You're a beautiful Fairy Godmother."

"And you're the cutest stormtrooper I've ever seen." Still not sure where he found it, the black suit with the white armor, oddly suits him. Ben hasn't put the helmet on yet, but she's half tempted to pull him back to the bedroom—

"Mama! Daddy! Watch me!" London calls from the top of the stairs. The store was out of the other dresses, but they had this one still in the little girl's size.

"Becareful, it's a big dress," Rey reminds her. But her daughter knows what she's doing as she appears on the landing. She scrambles for her cell and Ben is already taking pictures. "Don't move."

London is beautiful in the Cinderella dress. Sheer layers of what could only be described as Cinderella blue, and once London saw the live action movie, she insisted on that dress—and somehow Ben found it. Off the shoulders, but once Rey explained that tonight was going to be chilly, London was more than happy to wear a white t-shirt under it. Rey curled her hair to "match the real-life Cinderella not the one in the cartoon."

And then there's Caleb. She's still not sure where Ben found this costume either, Caleb is the perfect Darth Vader. From the boots to the light saber to the helmet— it's perfect. And from how slow they descend, she's certain that Darth Vader can't see a thing, but Cinderella is helping the villain—but with a tragic back story—down.

"You guys look amazing," she gushes as she snaps more pictures.

It's not until she's laying on top of Ben, after a very busy evening, that she realizes that today was perfect. Both set of grands got to hang out. Even Rose and Hux, and Poe and Finn came by. But the best part? Well besides the hints of a Christmas wedding—the morning sickness stayed far way.

She smiles against his chest and even as his soft snores fill the room, his arm tightens as he hugs her close.
