Chapter 12

I had been sitting at my desk staring at the unopen folders for about an hour. It was finally the weekend. I should be out doing something fun with the other students. Instead, I was held up in my dorm doing this.

"Come on Yami, just open them already."

I took a deep breath and flipped it open. My breath hitched in my throat. I scattered the pictures across my desk. Bodies. Countless charred bodies. Men and women. I counted thirty of them. I picked up his file my eyes raking across it.

I placed the files back onto the desk, burying my face in my hands. There were files on the other Villains in this league and all the terrible things they've done. I took a deep breath. He lied to me. Everything was a lie. From the moment we'd met. I knew he had some secrets, but I never thought it would be anything like this. The notes on him went on for pages, and that Tomura… reading about him just made my skin crawl. I scooped the files up, putting them back into the folders. Regretting opening them in the first place. I shoved them into a draw. I crawled into bed and cried for what seemed like forever. I didn't even realize that I had fallen asleep. I kicked the blanket off of me. It was already nighttime.

Opening the draw and looking at the files. Seeing Dabi's picture laying there. I slammed it shut right after. I had moved past being sad and hurt and now I was pissed. I grabbed my costume from my closet and put it on. I pushed open my widow and few out. I was grateful that it was night. It was going to make sneaking out a lot easier. I didn't know the first place that Dabi could be, but it couldn't be that hard. I had tried parts of the city that were run down and secluded. It wasn't the best plane seeing as I had no idea where I was going. I tried my best to remember where I had come from so I didn't get lost. I started over one last time, hoping that this would be it. I flew to the crappier part of town that was close to the school, flying down to the street. It made sense that they would be in a place like this. Anyone with eyes could see that they were bad guys, I wish I would have started here first. The deeper I went into that part of the city, the creepier it got, but I couldn't turn back now. That's when someone caught my eye. I remember seeing him in the file. A small fry if you would. One of their backups is lackeys. The one with enhanced strength and tactical skills.

"Spinner!" I called.

He turned, giving me a strange look. He stood folding his arms. I walked over to him, trying my best not to look intimidated. Hopefully, my mask helped. I touched his shoulder, and he quickly brushed me off, but it was too late. I already had what I needed. It wasn't much, but it should come in handy later.

"What d'you want?"

"Do you know where Dabi is?"

The chatter behind him stopped and his expression changed from bored to serious.

"Who wants to know?" He asked, resting his hand on his knife.

"Look, just tell me where he is. I don't want to hurt you."

He and his little friends laughed at me.

"Run home little girl. Before you get hurt."

"My name is Yami… he might have talked about me."

He turned around slowly.

"Not Dabi, but Tomura had a lot to say about you. Especially to our boss. I don't know where Dabi is, but Tomura might."

"Fine, bring me to them," I said without hesitation.

It turns out I was closer to their hideout than I thought. We entered through the little shabby building that they were in front of. Spinner led me inside we had to go through a trapdoor which led to a tunnel. We made a bunch of turns until we came to this large open space that had been dug out. There he was. Tomura. He stood next to some man who was large and wore this strange black helmet on him. He turned towards me. Just his attention being on me made my hair stand on end. What was this chill I felt? This ominous feeling crept up my spine and hung over me. It felt hard to breathe. He sat down, telling me to come forward, and I couldn't help but listen. Even if I wanted to stay put, my body wasn't listening to me. I stopped only a few inches away from him.

"So, you are Yami." His voice was deep and menacing.

I mustered up all the courage I could find. "And you are."

He chuckled. "I am All for One."

The Leader… the one who steals quirks.

He held his hand out to me, but I just started at it. I wasn't going to take it. Only an idiot would do that. Especially knowing what I know.

"Where is Dabi?"

"You are very brave Yami. I have heard much about you." He said ignoring my question.

"I came here for Dabi. Where is he?"

Tomura laughed off to the side. "You have some nerve- "

All for one held up his hand. "Leave her Tomura. Something tells me you wouldn't beat her anyway."

All for one saying that clearly pissed Tomura off.

"Dabi will be here soon. Sit. Wait for him." All for one said.

I sat on the far side of the room, rubbing my hands against my hands on my thighs, feeling the material, and trying to stay calm. I sat there bored like that for about thirty minutes until I heard footsteps. I looked up seeing Dabi standing there. I slowly stood up. Feeling a mixture of emotions. He started walking and so did I. Getting more and more upset with each step. Stopping I clicked my clicking my heels together. I jumped, shooting flames out my feet grabbing him and slamming him into the wall, ignoring the pain in my feet. My hands glowed a hot blue as they started to heat up. The smell of his burning jacket flooded my nose.

"Liar!" I whispered harshly.

His shoulders slumped. "You know." He said, not even trying to deny it.

I held up a burning fist, wanting to hit him. I cocked my hand back, punching the wall behind him instead. I let go of his coat pressing my forehead against his chest. I cried silently. I felt his arms wrap around me.

"You lied to me… you used me. Time and time again." I said pushing away from him.

"Yami- "

"DON'T! Was this entire thing just a game to you? Did you secretly laugh when I opened up to you!? Was anything you said to me true? I trusted you. More than I had ever trusted anyone… and this is what you do."

I heard All for one laughing at me. My head snapped in his direction. I was already hurt and embarrassed, and hearing him laugh made my blood boil even more. I tapped a boulder, floating it off the ground I sent it flying at him. His arms transformed into this mangled thing, and punching it, it shattered.

He laughed again. "You are a mighty fine specimen indeed. Just how many quirks do you have?"

I clenched my jaw. Heading back the way that I came. Dabi didn't follow and I was happy that he didn't. I pushed him away once. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it again,

I walked all the way back to campus, pushing through the doors. I was so out of it, I hadn't realized that Aizawa had been yelling my name the entire time. All of the other students were behind him and they looked… worried. Were they worried about me?

"Yami where have you been!?"

I tried my best to hold it in, but I couldn't. I hugged him and cried into his chest. He hugged me back patting my back.

"What's wrong? Where did you go?" He whispered to me.

I wiped my eyes, looking up at him. "They're downtown on the far side of the city in the slums. The entrance is an old closed-down dumpling shop. When you go inside there's a trap door behind some shelves. All for one and Tomura were there… so was Dabi." I said shakily.

He wasted no time pulling out his phone. "I'm going to need you to come with me. The rest of you go back to your rooms."

I had done the right thing. Right?
