Invisible String

Chapter 31

Later on that day

Lucas had made Chow mein noodles with mixed vegetables and oven baked chicken for dinner.

For dessert they were having pound cake. All created with Brooke's current cravings in mind.

Langston and Landon filled the dining room and kitchen with conversation. How school went what they wanted to do this weekend.

Lucas teaching the boys basketball.

Them having so much energy and interest. Made the experience so enjoyable and fun for him.

He also took them to the auto body shop.

Everything he learned about cars was from Keith.

But that shop was alot more then an abandoned area to Lucas.

He loved sharing this with his sons.

Once Langston and Landon were upstairs in their bedroom.

Having their dessert.

Brooke focused her gaze on Lucas.

"Lucas we need to talk about this. Our life is changing in a big way."

"That doesn't mean we have to let go of who we've always been."

"I'm not delicate or fragile."

"As this pregnancy progresses. And my body changes."

"I need to know that the way my husband sees me doesn't change."

"That love and passion in you're eyes. I don't want to lose each other." Brooke proclaimed. The emotion in her voice thick.

Lucas swallowed hard and looked back at her.

"The dishes are clean and put away. I'm headed upstairs."

"The boys need their baths and to get ready for bed."

"Come up whenever you're ready." Lucas replied.

...

Weeks Later

Brooke was hormonal and emotional. Feeling a level of insecurity that was never felt before.

She stared at her body in the mirror.

She was 10 weeks into her pregnancy now.

Her flat stomach was now replaced with a pre baby bump.

She was experiencing aches and pains in her stomach area.

Her breasts had gone up another size. Along with being sore. Sensitive.

Morning sickness basically any time of the day sickness.

Mood swings. Fatigue.

As if that wasn't enough. Lucas had pillows on the bed seperating them. Keeping them from getting any closer.
