"This is madness," I shouted once Masen and I were in the car, "Your Mom is going crazy. She invited me for breakfast. She's throwing another party today evening for our engagement. We need to stop this madness! If you're not going to tell them, I'll tell them. And I'll tell them now. I'm not going to wait anymore."
I have been going crazy since yesterday. Masen said he needed time to make this right, and I thought I could give him the time? I mean, he had made the mess, but he was still my friend, and I thought I could at least give him that.
He still thought we could make this work, and he wanted a chance, but I couldn't see how this could ever work.
I was going insane. I couldn't even see Edward talking to his girlfriend, how was I going to make this work with Masen? And to be honest, it wouldn't have worked either way!
And Masen deserved someone better!
He sighed.
"I'll do it at today's party," he said, "It's the same set of guests. I'll make sure I correct my mistakes."
I sighed, "That should be okay, I guess."
I was still in disbelief about the mess he had created!
What was he thinking?
"Sorry, I shouldn't have rushed," he said, "If I had waited, we might have made this work."
"No, not even then," I said, "I'm sorry I should have clarified this earlier. You're my best friend, Masen," I sighed, "But you're not someone I think I see as my life partner. I'm really sorry! But believe me, this is for the best! I could never be a good life partner to you. Believe me, you deserve someone much better!"
He smiled.
"What if I say I'm willing to wait?" He asked.
"No," I said, "Not even then."
He sighed and then nodded his head.
"Thank you!" I said as I removed the ring and gave it back to him.
