The Watcher eyed the universe, his fear starting to rise further as he looked down at their predicament. May was in the hospital. Eddie was still captured. Things were spiraling out of control too fast and beginning to become less and less predictable.
Back in the hospital, Peter sat beside May's bedside as she rested. Peter didn't want to leave her side until they had a report of the Goblin, knowing that Thawne wasn't coming for her here. He was more focused on tormenting Barry than him. Peter seemed to be an anomaly in Thawne's plans.
As he sat there beside her, Mary Jane came in and saw the two of them. "Hey. Mind if I came in?"
"Yeah, sure," Peter assured her she was okay.
"How is she doing?" Mary Jane asks him, walking over and sitting next to him.
"She's gonna be fine. The house got most of the damage." Peter assured her as he sighed, not sure what he would have done if May had gotten killed. "You didn't have to come down here, you know."
"No, I wanted to." Mary Jane assured him, leaning over to place her head on his shoulder. "How are you doing with all of this, Tiger?"
"That monster tried to kill May," Peter said as he placed a hand on her leg. "Made me think about this whole thing."
"This whole being a superhero?" Mary Jane was surprised to hear that as she sat back up. "Pete, you've saved countless people as Spider-Man. Because of one criminal, you want to stop?"
"That criminal went after May. My aunt. If he went after her, what's gonna stop him from going after..." Peter looked over to MJ and couldn't even bear the thought.
"Me?" Mary Jane guessed what he was going to say. "Peter, you're a hero." She then leaned over and pulled him into a shoulder hug. "As much as it might scare me or frustrate me or, yeah, it might even endanger me, I wouldn't change that. I don't want to change that. The guy I'm in love with is a hero. He puts on a costume and risks his life to help other people for no reason other than that it's the right thing to do." She then fixed some of his hair that was driving her nuts. "And yes, that burden he carries around is why he keeps trying to push me away." She then pecked him on the head. "But it's also why I keep coming back."
Peter has never felt this much love for someone, not even Gwen when they went out. Leaning over to her, Mary Jane leaned in with him, the two of them met in the middle and pecked on the lips.
As they stayed like that for a moment, she leaned back and had a smile, showing that she meant everything she said. Peter chuckled as he couldn't believe the bravery Mary Jane was showing here. She was willing to stay with Peter and even was the first to admit she loved him first.
"I lo-"
Before Peter could return the statement, the door opened up as Harry enters and saw the two of them. He also carried a bouquet in his hands with him.
"Hey, I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" Harry wonders, noticing the two of them might have been having a moment.
"No, you're good." Peter chuckled, knowing he'd have plenty of opportunities to tell her. "What's up?"
"Well, I wanted to drop these off for May," Harry said, placing the flowers next to her Ned. "After all, the least I could do for the fact it was my father."
"We don't blame you for your father's actions." Mary Jane quickly assured Harry. "What he does isn't on you."
"Still," Harry said with a sigh, happy to see May was at least okay. "And Cisco called. Said he couldn't get in touch with you guys and wanted me to get you guys."
"What's up?" Peter asks, seeing he needed to go.
"Said he found something we'd want to see." Harry guessed as that was all Cisco informed him.
The three of them then made their way out, seeing this was something that they needed to see. May was going to be safe here, but the city was most likely in danger if Cisco is trying to call them.
Seems that Barry and Caitlin were also called to STAR Labs by Cisco. Seems that he didn't go home after Grodd and has discovered something about his wheelchair.
"I kept asking myself, why would Wells pretend to need a wheelchair?" Cisco states and shows them his wheelchair.
"Sympathy, I guess?" Harry guessed off the top of his head. "I mean, the last person we would suspect is the Reverse Flash would be someone who couldn't walk."
"That's what I thought at first, but he's the Reverse Flash. Sympathy can't be the only reason." Cisco replied.
"Yeah, a misdirect," Joe stated, as he was also here as he was called in by Cisco.
Cisco then puts the wheelchair on its side to show them the bottom of it. "Which is why I started messing around with the wheelchair. And that's how I found this."
He then takes off a container that shows them a device underneath the surface of the chair. What they were looking at seemed to be like some sort of power generator powering the chair itself.
"You can't get that from RadioShack," Joe states seeing the device.
"How old are you?" Harry asks Joe. "I mean, really? Do you still rent movies from Blockbuster?"
"It looks like the tech we found inside Gideon," Barry stated as he leaned in to look at it closer.
"I measured the output, and this thing is kicking off serious juice. We're talking enough power all of Central City." Cisco informs them.
"Now that's just selfish." Peter scoffed as he wanted to just hold that device. "All that power and he uses it to charge his wheelchair."
"What do you think Wells was using it for?" Barry asks Cisco.
"I think that thing is some sort of battery. As in, Wells was using it to power himself. To gain speed and that's why he's constantly faster than you." Cisco explains and now everything makes sense.
Wells has been sitting on a power source to gain more speed almost 24/7. It stands to reason he should be able to outrun Barry at every chance.
As they were talking, the alarms go off and Cisco went over to see that someone reactivated the accelerator. "The particle accelerator has been activated!"
"How on earth is that possible?" Joe asks in shock.
"It's impossible it would have to been rebuilt." Cisco declared.
Barry thought about it and knew only one person is capable of doing that. "Wells."
"Even if he did rebuild it, how did he turn the accelerator back on?" Caitlin asks him.
Peter then gets a thought that never occurred to any of them. "What if that's where he's been hiding?"
That gave them the motivation to run down the hall, Caitlin staying behind with MJ and Harry. Cisco also did a quick turnaround and grabbed his soda before chasing the others.
Joe, Barry, and Peter made their way to the particle accelerator opening. That's when Cisco finally caught up to them with his drink.
"Cisco, why'd you bring that with you?" Joe asks him.
"Every time that the Reverse Flash is around, liquid floats in the air," Cisco explains to him. "Barry's fish tang, Wells' champagne, Lance's coffee. If this does the same thing, we'll know he's in there."
They then opened the doors to the accelerator and some of them got their first look. Joe looked inside and noticed the few prison cells that had prisoners inside.
"Damn," Joe commented as he looked around.
But before anyone else could say anything, Peter felt his head buzzing. Cisco also noticed that his drink started to float.
"Guys?" Cisco tried to get their attention.
"He's here!" Peter and Cisco cried in terror.
Then a flash of red lighting came speeding past them as they moved out of the way. Barry immediately knew it was Thawne and chased after him. He left the three of them alone and left in the dust of his speed.
"What do we do now?" Cisco asks since they can't help him.
That's when they heard the room whirring and see a cell moving. That same cell started to open, and they recognized the inhabitant.
"Peekaboo," Peter states as her cell opens and she teleports away.
But since Peter's senses are working perfectly again, he was able to sense where she was heading. When she reappeared again, he quickly did a back kick and knocked her into the wall before she could get Joe's gun.
Groaning in pain, Shawna teleported away and closed the doors on them. Before the three of them could make their way to the door, it closed and magnetically shut.
On the other side of the door, Caitlin was running over when she noticed one of the cells was opened. But by the time she arrived, Shawna was there, and the doors were closed.
"Peekaboo," Shawna called out as Caitlin quickly ran for it.
But she couldn't outrun her for long as she ended up getting punched in the face. Sent across the room, she was shacked into the floor and groaned in pain.
"Do you have any idea what it was like to be trapped in that box?!" Shawna asks as she kicked Caitlin.
Caitlin got up and tried to fight back against the metahuman. But being one of the few without powers, it isn't exactly a fair fight against her. Taking a swing at peekaboo, she teleported and kicked Caitlin into the wall. Placing her boot against her throat, she held a metal rod she had grabbed from somewhere.
"Now you're the one who's going in the box. Permanently." Shawna proclaimed, ready to drive it into her.
But before she had the chance to, she was smacked upside the head by a device. When she fell to the ground, Caitlin saw that her rescuers were Harry, who was shocked by the actions of Mary Jane. Mary Jane was there holding the device that she found in Cisco's labs. She was panting in shock at her actions as she looked down at Shawna.
"Oh my god, that felt amazing!" Mary Jane said in shock, amazed that she took down a criminal.
"Great, Peter's gonna kill me if you become an adrenaline junkie." Harry sighed as they looked at Caitlin. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Caitlin assured them she was fine. "Thanks for the help."
They had gotten Shawna back into the pipeline, happy to have found a way to open the doors on their end.
"You okay?" Cisco asks Caitlin.
"I will be," Caitlin said as she looked over to Harry and MJ. "Thanks to them."
Suddenly, Peter's ears catch a faint cry for help. "Wait. Does anyone hear that?"
"Everyone's accounted for," Caitlin assured him.
"No, there's something else," Peter said as he tried to listen. "Listen."
"Help! Down here!" The faint cries of Eddie were heard.
They quickly made their way toward the voice, following it the best they could in this environment. Joe was the one who ended up finding a compartment where Wells was hiding and finds him tied up.
"Eddie?" Joe asks and runs over to untie him. "Partner?"
Caitlin was just finishing up her checkup on Eddie. "You're a little dehydrated, but you should be fine."
"Thanks, Caitlin," Eddie said with one of his earnest smiles.
Barry flashed into the Cortex, and leaned over, panting. "Wells got away. He was too fast. He's always too fast." Then he noticed the man sitting in the room. "Eddie!"
"We found him under that hatch in the pipeline," Cisco informed Barry.
"I'm so sorry. I- I thought I'd looked everywhere for you." Barry apologized, sorry that he never checked their own base.
"It's okay. It's not your fault. He's been having us chase our tails for weeks." Eddie assured him he understood.
"Well, all that's important is that we're all safe." Iris rested her hand on Eddie's shoulder. "And back together, right?"
"Eddie, why'd he take you?" Joe asked.
Eddie's smile faded, leaving him looking drawn and tired. "I don't know. He said that we're... family. He said his real name is Eobard Thawne."
"Eobard Thawne..." Cisco muttered. "Just like in my dream."
"Did he say anything else?" Joe pressed. "I mean, anything that can help us figure out what he might be after?"
"I- He didn't say much. Just kept working on some tube." Eddie shrugged.
"A tube?" Cisco frowned. "What did it look like?"
"Metallic. Futuristic. He said it was the key to getting back everything that was taken from him."
Barry shook his head. "A key... I don't understand."
"Look," Eddie closed his eyes for a second. "I just want to go home. Is that okay?"
"Yes, of course," Caitlin murmured, taking the needle out of the back of his hand. "Make sure you get some rest."
Soon after that Iris took him out. And almost as soon as they leave, Cisco gets another alert of something foreign in the pipeline and runs to check on it.
"What now?" Harry wonders.
"Are you seeing this?" Cisco asks them as they watch him stream footage from his phone to the computers.
He was showing a device that looks like a small spherical container and some blue liquid inside.
"That's the tube Eddie was talking about. It's what's powering the accelerator."
"Cisco, can you shut it down?" Barry asks.
"Do you see a power button in this thing?" Cisco asks as he leaned the camera closer to the device. "I press or touch the wrong thing; I could bring the whole building down on us."
"How long until it's fully operational?" Peter asks him, hoping they can come up with a plan to stop Wells.
"Best I can tell, about 36 hours," Cisco tells them.
"That's when Wells is going to return." Barry easily knew.
"Why would Wells want the accelerator turned back on?" Joe asks them.
"Don't know. It wasn't a big success the first time." Cisco shrugged.
"It made me the Flash." Barry reminded them.
"Turned Bobby into Iceman," Peter added on, wondering if his friend is coming back soon. He could really use him.
"That's not all it did." Caitlin reminded them.
They then pulled up the footage of the metahumans they have in the pipeline.
Weather Wizard, Mist, Peekaboo, Deathbolt, Sandman, and Molten Man.
"So what happens if the particle accelerator turns on again with them inside?" Caitlin asks them.
"Best guess? They're toast." Cisco was sorry to say.
"We have to move them." Barry declared.
"Where?" Joe wonders.
"Oliver has an island in the north China sea, named Lian Yu. It's where he was stranded for five years, and now puts his most dangerous enemies." Barry explains to them all. "It's completely isolated and is an actual prison, they won't be able to escape, or hurt anyone."
"How do we move them to Oliver's private Alcatraz?" Joe asks them.
"We're down a few super friends," Peter added, remembering Bobby is gone.
"I don't like the odds of the two of you against them." Mary Jane said in fear.
"We won't be," Barry added, eyeing someone in the cells. "Flint. Aren't the two of you on good terms?"
"Yeah, and I promised I'd cure him." Peter reminded Barry. "I'm also trying to get Mark back, but we've been busy."
"Cisco, we're gonna need something to get them moved," Barry tells Cisco.
"I've got an idea," Cisco assured him and walked off to work on it.
"And what's your plan if the transport is attacked?" Joe asks them.
That was a good question to ask.
Seems Barry had gone off the rails from the fear of something happening to Peter or his friends. The police weren't going to be able to help without giving away who they are.
Oliver was also out of the picture, as well as Ant-Man, and nobody thought to exchange numbers with Wonder Woman. Without access to Crystal or Lockjaw (as nobody knows where they went), there were only a few people left they could turn to.
Barry was given the idea by Peter to go to New York and pick up a few friends that he made.
When he came back, he had two girls with him that Peter recognized. But the rest of the team hadn't been introduced yet.
"Been a while, Pete." Lana Baumgartner, Bombshell, said happily as she even hugged her friend. "How have you been?"
"Oh, you know. Weight of the world." Peter said with a sigh and turned to Ava Ayala, White Tiger, who stood next to her. "How you been, Ava?"
"I've been doing fine," Ava admitted with a shrug. "Don't remember your brother being the Flash."
"I didn't even know the Flash last time we met." Peter defended.
"Where's Bobby?" Lana wonders.
"On sabbatical. Long story." Peter informed them. "We really need your help transporting these guys."
"Just say when," Lana promises him.
"So, how do you guys know each other?" Caitlin asks them.
"I know Lana through my mother," Peter admitted.
"My mom was friends with his mom, so we just sorta got to know one another," Lana explains.
"And he met me when someone was looking to steal this from my family." Ava showed off the amulet.
"I thought your powers didn't work without your mother," Joe said as he eyed Lana.
"That was then," Lana said as she summoned a blast in her fist. "But Bombshell is back."
"Bombshell," Cisco repeated the name. "You willing to change that?"
"Leave it," Lana demanded and cooled down her blast.
"You guys fill them in, I'm gonna tell Flint what we're about to do." Peter trusted Flint enough to tell him about their plan so he can help.
If the power dampening plan fails on Cisco, then they needed a backup plan. Besides, after this fiasco with Wells was over, they proposed to get Flint and Mark back so they could cure them.
Mary Jane decided to have gone home after everything that had happened. She walked into her aunt's house, knowing she wasn't going to be there as she had a late shift. But as she walked inside, she tried to turn on the lights and noticed that they weren't working.
"What the hell?" Mary Jane asks in confusion, wondering what was wrong with the power.
She started to try and get around the house, so she could find the flashlight in the kitchen. But on her way in, she was quickly grabbed and slammed into the wall. She was being held up by her throat when she hears the whirring of thrusters and noticed the Goblin Glider.
"Hello, my dear." Goblin greeted her casually.
"Wh... what do you want from me?" Mary Jane managed to choke out.
"Spider-Man," Goblin answered.
They actually managed to make it to the landing site without any problems. With Bombshell, White Tiger, Spider-Man, and the Flash guess they assumed something big was going down.
"Ferris air. What's this place shut down?" Ava asks the group
"It has been since one of their test pilots disappeared," Barry informed them as they waited for the plane to come.
The plane came in and landed on the strip, seemingly a little easy for them. The doors opened as two figures came out of the plane. One was a man wearing a suit that had what looked to be a pink arrow fin on his chest. The other wore a black bodysuit and bad red flowing red hair.
"You the guys that called us?" The man asked as he showed off a bow and arrow.
"We're your support." The redhead informed them.
"Who are you?" Peter wonders.
"I'm Clint Barton." He informed them and gestured to his friend. "This is Natasha. We were sent here for your criminals."
"The two of you, that's it?" Lana asked them.
"Trust me, we're not easy to take down," Natasha promised her. "Come on, let's get your container on the plane."
They start loading up the truck container and were happy something went their way. But to be honest, they also found it a bit disappointing.
"I gotta admit, I expected there to be this whole action sequence. Everything goes wrong, and the prisoners escape." Ava admitted as she looked at Peter.
"Well, with this many heroes, there wasn't really much to go wrong," Peter informed her. "They're out of our hair, and we just need to focus on Goblin and Thawne now."
When they returned to STAR Labs, all they needed to do was wait for Wells to return. Luckily, they didn't have to wait long as he showed up with no sign of the Goblin yet. Barry quickly sped outside as Peter went swinging to the roof to find out where Goblin is. Barry stood face to face with Wells with a look of anger and hatred.
"Well, I heard your prison transfer went well without a hinge," Wells states also hearing that Peter and Cisco got them to Lian Yu.
"Sorry to disrupt your plan," Barry states happy to have stopped that at least.
"Actually, I didn't factor that into my plan at all, but I'm impressed you went to such great lengths to keep those people from harm," Wells states to him.
"You've already hurt enough people," Barry states to his once mentor.
"I know, you see me as the villain, but if you were to look back, and I mean carefully, at everything I've done, you would realize I have only done what I had to do," Wells states back to him.
"And restarting the particle accelerator? Why did you do that?" Barry asks him since none of them can figure out why he would want it back on.
"Why don't you go back inside, and I'll show you," Wells tells him, knowing that when it turns on it is a win-win situation. He just doesn't know it yet.
"I don't think so." Barry replied.
"I've shown you time and time again you can't beat me, Barry." Wells states.
And that's when they hear flames and look up to see Firestorm coming down to help. Ronnie landed right on the left side of Barry, ready to take down Wells.
"Wow. You brought yourself a friend." Wells joked with a smile.
And that's when an arrow comes down and Oliver Queen finally returns. He landed right beside Barry on his right side, ready to help fight.
"Welcome, Mr. Queen." Wells greets the two men.
"Hope we're not too late," Oliver asks Barry.
"Right on time," Barry assured him.
And while they were preparing to fight, Peter started to think of the possibility that the Green Goblin wasn't going to come. But then he got an alert on his mask saying it was MJ.
He wondered why she was calling and quickly answered. "Hey, MJ, now isn't the best-"
But Peter didn't get the chance to finish when he heard someone laughing on the other end. But it was the one laughter that was echoing in his head over the months, haunting his mind.
"Can Spider-Man come out to play?" Goblin asks.
"Where is she?" Peter asked in anger.
"I don't care how fast you are! You're not faster than all of us." Barry declared, not knowing that Peter had to ditch him to find Mary Jane.
"Oh, I can't?" Wells asks with a grin. "This? Trust me. This is going to be fun."
Barry placed his cowl on as lightning flashed through his eyes. Oliver gets an arrow ready to shoot at the madman. Ronnie burst into flames again, ready to fight the man who merged them together.
Wells then raises his fist where he had the Reverse Flash symbol on it. He then opened it and releases his suit from its ring. Barry was the first to go at it, racing off toward Reverse Flash.
While the fight for the future was currently going on across the city, Peter was sent across the other side where he made it to the bridge.
Mary Jane was already there and she started to wake up with a groan. Shortly after Goblin showed up at her home, she was knocked out by a taser he had brought with him. She groaned as she felt the pain in her neck and felt as if there was a burn or something there.
As she started to get up, she gasped and almost fell when she realized she was up on the top of the bridge. As she tried to find out if there was a way down, she saw the Goblin coming in and saw how he had just taken the serum again.
He was back in his giant monstrous form as he was flying with his wings instead of a glider. He was setting the stage for his final battle against the Spectacular Spider-Man.
Flying around the area, he noticed the cars down below and knew that those just wouldn't do. "The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water sprout." He started to charge up and shot fire beams from his eyes. "Down came the Goblin and took the spider out!"
His fire caused several cars to explode and many more to be blown and creating a barricade. Peter had just about to arrive as he looked at the destruction from a distance.
"Oh my god," Peter said in fear.
Quickly making it over, he landed on the support of the bridge when he saw Goblin and Mary Jane. But Peter also noticed that Goblin was holding onto something else. A rope of some kind led over to the overside of the bridge. Then he noticed that the rope was connected to a small bus filled with kids.
"Spider-Man!" Goblin got Peter's attention focused on him. "This is why only fools choose to be heroes! Because you never know when a lunatic will come along with a sadistic choice! Stop me? Let die the girl who you love?" He then raised MJ higher from the cliff, getting her to shriek and try to get a grip on Goblin's forearm. "Or...Suffer the innocent children?"
Peter looked back and forth between the frightened Mary Jane and the children, wondering what his next move was going to be. "Don't do this, Norman!"
"We are who we choose to be!" Goblin proclaimed, raising both of his hands in the process. "Now choose!"
And just like that, he dropped both Mary Jane and the bus of kids as he laughed, Mary Jane screaming as she fell, and the bus of children crying in fear. Peter was stuck between the choices of stopping Goblin, saving Mary Jane, or saving the children.
Peter had to think fast about his actions as he saw Mary Jane was falling fast, the bus was falling faster, and the Goblin was just about to take off to the skies. Seeing as Goblin was (as of this moment) the least of his priority, he quickly ran to what he chose to save first. Mary Jane would be quicker and easier to save so he ran to the left of the bridge where MJ was falling.
Leaping off of the bridge for the extra boost, not wanting to give Mary Jane whiplash by using his webbing, he quickly grabbed onto her. Mary Jane quickly wrapped her arms and legs around him to latch on. Seeing that she had a grip on him, Peter quickly shot out a web to latch onto the bridge and swing across to grab onto the bus.
Letting go of the one web he shot out; he reached the other end of the bridge where he then grabbed onto the line holding the bus. When he grabbed the line, it pulled his webbing and caused them to slingshot a bit before the line ripped off.
Shooting a second webbing to the bridge support, Peter managed to save them as he noticed Goblin coming at them while laughing all the way. Goblin laughed manically as he flew over and his eyes glowing red, ready to burn the hero down.
"He's coming back!" Mary Jane cried in terror.
Peter knew there wasn't he could do in this predicament, feeling that was Goblin's full plan to finish him off. Goblin came around and went in to kill him while laughing all the way.
Suddenly a gust of particles came in and they saw Bobby has finally returned. Lockjaw had brought him back and just as quickly left before the fight continued. He quickly sent a blast and sent Goblin flying across the roof.
Looking over to his friend, Bobby gave a friendly salute to his friend. Peter was more than happy to see his friend return and was glad he came to his rescue.
"Looks like I came back just in time," Bobby commented.
"Showing up a few minutes ago wouldn't have killed you, would it!?" Peter asked his friend as he tried to keep his hold on the bus.
"Sorry, I had to get some friends." Bobby shrugged.
"What?" Peter asks.
As the Goblin was shaking off the blast, burning the ice off of his eyes and growling in anger, he was suddenly attacked when White Tiger came leaping in and landing on his back. Goblin didn't even have time to react when she quickly clawed his wing, causing him to cry in pain. Bombshell then came out and sent a blast of energy toward Goblin, giving Ava the time to leap off just before it could hit.
Peter saw that his friends have this under control and all he needed to do was work on the bus and Mary Jane. Seems that he just needed to hold out when he saw a ship making its way underneath Peter.
"Ahoy, up there! We're going to bring the boat right under you!" The man on the boat called through a speaker.
Peter saw he needed to start lowering the bus so that he could get them down safely. His friends might not need him now, but they were going to eventually need his help. First thing first, he needed to get Mary Jane down there before he could do anything.
"MJ, I need you to let go," Peter says to her.
"What?" Mary Jane asked in confusion.
"Climb down the rope," Peter explained what he needed her to do.
"I can't!" Mary Jane cried as she clung to the man she loved.
"Yes, you can!" Peter tried to encourage her. "Trust me. Please."
Mary Jane then looked down at the rope and up to Peter, trying to see his real eyes through the lenses. But even through them, she knew he wanted what was best for her. Quickly trying to make her way down without slipping off, she managed to get a hold of the rope. Remembering the gym class about rope climbing, she actually never thought she was going to use it in this scenario.
Goblin growled in anger as he got over the attack he received from the three heroes working together. Getting up, his fire eyes blasted down the street, making their way over to them.
Iceman jumped ahead of Tiger and Bombshell, using his powers similar to when he fought Molten Man. The two of them tried to out-power one another, get the head over the other.
Peter managed to slowly lower the bus and Mary Jane to the ship and managed to do it safely. "Whew."
But back with his friends in the middle of the attack, there was a gunshot that causes the two of them to stop as something embedded itself into Goblin's neck. Bobby looked at where the shot came from and noticed it was a rooftop on the other side of the bridge.
"Who did that?" Bobby was curious to know.
"Why did they do that?" Lana questions.
"What did they do?" Ava was more curious to know.
They watched as Goblin growled and started to try and rip the syringe from his back. But his hands were too big and his body too large to reach it. He ended up walking back and his body morphed back to normal before falling off the bridge.
The three ran to the side and saw he was caught by the glider. But as they noticed, he was heading towards an exhausted Peter, Mary Jane was the first to get the word out.
"Watch out!" Mary Jane cried.
Peter sensed it just for Goblin to come and ram Peter with his own glider. The two of them took off and were flying through the city.
Peter punched Goblin in the face, wanting this fight to finally end. Goblin, even though he was weakened by the syringe, was still at normal strength.
"I offered you friendship, and you spat in my face!" Goblin proclaimed as he was now without his armor.
"Let's just say I don't need your kind of friend!" Peter replied as he ripped a piece of the glider, activating one of the bomb. Then he slammed it into the engineering that helped it fly. "This war between us, it ends now!"
The bomb explodes, sending the two of them falling and slamming into the warehouse district. Peter rolled across the ground and skidded to a stop, looking down at his ripped and then outfit.
Barry was with his friends, taking down Thawne. His friends were now across the city. He was on his own. He started to look around, wondering where and when the Goblin was going to strike next. His senses quickly went off and he saw one last Pumpkin Bomb come flying in. Before he could react, it explodes in his face, shattering his mask and sending him flying into the wall.
Peter groaned as he felt his left eye socket destroyed as he watched Goblin stroll into the building with a limp leg. Seems he didn't exactly walk away scotch free from the crash either.
Peter quickly climbed to his feet, trying to get himself prepared for the battle of his life. But he wasn't prepared when Goblin punched him in the face, followed by a knee to his guts, then an uppercut that sent him flying backward.
Peter crawled back and tried to get away, but the Goblin ended up walking over and smashing his boot underneath Peter's back. He winced in pain as he tried to move but ended up being grabbed by the throat. When he was pulled back to his feet, Peter then got punched and slammed into a pedestal.
When he noticed he had a chance to escape, Peter immediately took it and tried to shoot out a web to get away. But the minute he pulled himself off of the ground, Goblin got close enough to grab him by the leg. Slamming him face-first into the ground, Peter groaned out as he didn't have the energy to keep fighting.
"You have spun your last web, Spider-Man," Goblin says and steps on his hand. "If you have not been so selfish, your little girlfriend's death would have been quick and painless. But now that you've really pissed me off, I'm gonna finish her nice...and slow."
Those words ignited a fire within Peter. A fire that burned within him filled his entire body with power. Goblin didn't seem to care as he grabbed a spear made out of broken metal in the warehouse.
"MJ and I, we're gonna have a hell of a time." Goblin proclaimed as he goes in to stab Peter.
But he was shocked when Peter quickly grabs the blade and, with all of his strength, pushes forward with all of his might before kicking Goblin near a wall. Once he gets back on his feet, Peter shoots a web at the wall and topples it over the Goblin.
But he isn't down for the count yet, as Goblin starts getting up, Peter grabs him and sends him flying before beating him to a pulp. Going in hit after hit, doing his best to take down the monster that threatened everyone that he knows and love.
"Peter...stop...stop!" A voice says and Peter stops punching as he noticed it was Norman Osborn talking. "Peter, thank god for you."
"Norman Osborn?" Peter was shocked to see that he beat the sanity back into him.
"Please, Peter, don't let him take me again!" Norman pleaded with Peter. "Protect me."
"You tried to kill Aunt May, you tried to kill Harry, MJ, and everyone I love!" Peter said in anger.
"But not you," Norman said, slowly activating a device on the glider just a few feet away. "I would never hurt you. I knew that the Goblin feared you. I knew if anyone would save me, it would be you and saved me you have." He then reached his hand out for Peter to take, seeing the work was now done. "Please. Help me."
But Peter's senses indicated that something was going to happen. His head then eyed the glider that was starting to flash red, alerting him that the bombs still within it are about to blow.
"Godspeed, Spider-Man." Goblin came in for one final laugh.
But Peter worked fast, shooting out two more webs as one final attempt to escape, and jumped to shoot himself out the window. Goblin was then left behind as the bomb was seconds from detonating.
"Oh." Goblin had to say he didn't see that coming.
Peter had managed to get a few buildings away just before the bomb went off. The thing managed to destroy not only a portion of the building but the entire building itself. Towering everything as it all fell and crushed the last of Norman Osborn.
Peter watched the moment in shock and horror. He did all he could to save Harry's father. But in the end, it just wasn't enough.
There was however one person unaccounted for.
The one who shot that dart.
Ava managed to track them down and even cornered them in an alleyway. They had just abandoned the gun that they must have used to shoot Norman and were revealed to be wearing gloves. Most likely to not leave fingerprints.
Leaping down ahead of them, Ava crossed her arms. "Going somewhere?"
Iceman slid down and landed on the other side of the alley, with Bombshell going to try and help Peter. "Who are you?"
"Call me a friend." The mysterious figure called themselves. "I just wanted to ensure Peter Parker's safety."
"Why would you care? And how do you know who he is?" Ava wonders, feeling that's a major secret for them to know.
"The same way I know you're Ava Ayala." The figure said as they looked towards Ava and back over to Bobby. "And you're Bobby Drake. And that other girl's name is Lana Baumgartner. I know because I've been keeping my eyes on Peter."
"Why?" Bobby wonders.
"Let's just say I have an interest in making sure he survives this encounter. And I had a score to settle." The stranger explained yet somehow managed to explain nothing.
"What does-" before Ava could finish her question, an explosion shook them to the core as they saw the explosion.
By the time they got their eyes off of the explosion, they looked and noticed the 'friend' was somehow long gone. This time even somehow managed to ditch Ava's tracking. Although it could be the increased smoke that she can't pinpoint the person anymore.
Deciding the stranger wasn't a priority anymore, they ran to see if Peter was caught or even the cause of that explosion.
But the figure turned out to have just been hiding in the shadows as they saw the coast was clear and removed their hood. It is then revealed that the person who helped Peter find Henry Allen, the one who asked Diana to steal the chemicals, the one who helped them defeat the Goblin... Was someone close to home?
"I can't let them know. Not yet." She said in sorrow. "As much as I want him to know, I have to ensure his safety. A lot of people want me dead. They believe me to be dead. If I stay that way, they'll never think to look for me."
She then let a tear slide down her scarred cheek and raised the hood back up, making her way down the dark alley. This was a secret that she couldn't keep forever, but she was going to need to keep it a bit longer.
She'll come out of the shadows when the time was right. When she came out of the shadows, there couldn't be anyone left to hurt him. She protected him for ten years without him even knowing, and she was going to continue to protect him.
Back with the others, Barry was at least having better luck as he ended up getting Wells taken down. With the combined strength of Ronnie, Oliver, and himself, the three managed to make quick work of Thawne. He did put up a fight, but he wasn't able to escape this time.
Oliver had to leave again and make it back to Starling City, but Ronnie made his way inside to stick around just in case they needed any more help.
"We got you now," Barry told the unconscious enemy.
"The Green Goblin was gone." The Watcher was happy to say as Peter made his way to STAR Labs to deliver the news about Norman. "But now comes the biggest dilemma of their lives. A life that is..or a life that once was."
