A CEO was sitting in their office of their company building feeling pretty confident looking at all the money they've made and they're stock prices rocketing up. It was super exciting, for them. Out of nowhere, the office exploded and the person was blasted back flying across the room looking completely shocked.
"Who on earth!" He exclaimed, bewildered by his attacker's appearance.
A figure approached on a glider laughing to himself softly. "Oh my, are you surprised? My name is Hobgoblin! I've come to visit to give myself an advantage by taking out the competitors, which happens to be you!" He grabbed a punpkin bomb and throw it at them causing the whole office of the formily cocky Ceo to explode.
Elsewhere Peter and his friends were at ESU talking after another class. "Man! I'm so excited for later!" Harry exclaimed happily.
"For what again? I've been so forgetful." Peter replied, rubbing his head.
"My dad's preparing for a major press conference about some medical advancements he's been working on! And awesome weapons! It's going to be a big deal for the company! And I can't forget the other thing of course!" Harry exclaimed excitedly.
MJ grabbed Peter's arm. "A certain someone's birthday!"
"Wait, my birthday is today? No wonder Aunt May was acting suspicious earlier today, am I getting a party?" He then asked.
"Wouldn't be a surprise if we told you if you are!" Gwen pointed out to him. "Also you might need to get your head checked out, how do you forget it's your birthday?
Peter laughed. "Yeah, you're right about that."
"After we're going with Harry, I'd recommend going back home, Peter." MJ said very tellingly and smiled at him.
He smiled back. "I think I've gotten the hint."
"Today's going to be an awesome day! My dad has that thing, which is making him happier lately and your birthday, uh possibly with a party, but who knows!" Harry said very happily and grabbed all his friends, happy as can be.
"Should we get going there then?" Gwen asked.
"Sure should! I want to be early!" Harry replied.
As they walked off. "Are you excited for that totally secret birthday party?" MJ asked curiously with a smirk.
Peter did the same back. "You bet I am, it's the most well kept secret I've ever heard of in my life!" He remarked with tons of sarcasm.
"We can hear you buddy!" Harry reminded him.
"Oh sorry, maybe I'm not great at keeping secrets!" He joked.
They all laughed and headed to the Oscorp facility where it was all going down.
Shortly they arrived and Harry ran up to his father. "Hey dad! We're all here now!"
"You seem excited son, I'm glad you are and that your friends are here, of course Ms. Stacy as well. This will be a game changer, we've cracked the code on something completely world changing, ground breaking. Everyone will know of my life's work!" Norman expressed putting his hand on Harry's shoulder.
"What exactly are you going to show off Mr. Osborn, if I may ask?" Peter questioned.
"It's a surprise, I want to expose my surprise to the world. Come now, we should all head inside." He pointed out and led them inside, but Peter stopped for a moment spotting a flying figure.
MJ noticed his concern. "What's wrong?"
"I saw someone, formler. I think. I've gotta be seeing things. It's been over a year since I last encountered that guy and I've got no idea what he wanted." Peter said, looking concerned about it.
"Has your spider-sense gone off?" She asked.
He shook his head, calming down. "No, no it hasn't yet. The second it goes off, I'm getting you all out of here."
"Peter, I know you've been facing a lot lately, let's hope it isn't another villain. I don't want anything to happen on your birthday." She replied.
"Yeah, neither do I. Fingers crossed against that." Peter said back and went inside with her, still feeling skeptical.
They caught up to them.
"You should be standing by my side Harry, when this happens. I'll be right back. I've gotta see my partner before we get started, wait here. Understand? No foolishness, I won't allow it right now!" He said coldly and walked off.
Gwen held his hand after he left. "I'm sorry Harry, your father can be a nasty person at times." She admitted.
"It's fine, don't worry about him. He's trying more." Harry said dismissing her concerns.
Peter and MJ looked at each other. Then Peter grabbed his head, feeling his spider-sense going off now.
"Don't say it." She whispered.
"We've gotta leave now." Peter whispered back to her. "Hey guys, we're uh, going to find the bathroom!" He said very awkwardly.
"Don't take too long you two!" Harry smirked at them.
They rushed out. "Crap, my spider-sense is still going off! Something very bad is about to happen, we need to hurry now!" He exclaimed to her, grabbing onto her running as fast as he possibly could. As they exited, the compound began to explode.
"Good god." MJ said horrified
"Stay hidden! I have to get there!" Spider-Man exclaimed, suiting up and rushed inside to the blazing building.
The fire was intense and he wasn't sure he was inside the building besides his friends, Osborn and his partner. Harry and Gwen were the top priority unless he came across someone first. Please, please, firefighters I really need all of you down here now.
He quickly moved through the building looking for his friends throwing away any debris in his way. "Hello! Please someone call out!" A voice was heard and Peter immediately rushed to assist them, finding some employees trapped. Not my friends, but it doesn't matter, I have to get them all out. "Come on! This way everyone! Is anyone else left in the building?" He then asked, helping them all to the exit.
"Yes, Spider-Man! Doctor Osborn and Doctor Stromm!" They expressed.
"Okay, I'll find them! Stay safe!" He exclaimed and headed back in, immediately getting an explosion in his face running back in, after he wrongly ignored his spider-sense blaring in his head and focused so much on saving his friends. "Ugh, that was a really bad idea. Why did I do that? Come on, they're all counting on me!"
Spider-Man fought past it running to their location and found both of them finally stuck.
"Please help! Somebody! Save her first!" Harry exclaimed.
"No! Save him!" Gwen countered.
He came over lifting the debris off both of them. "How about we compromise and I save both of you!" Peter said, putting them both over his shoulders, seeing the flames ahead of himself. "That's not great." Then an explosion happened close to them and the old face came down.
"Well, well. Spider-Man! We meet, once again, and you're trying to save the last of the Osborn legacy I see! The Hobgoblin is going to make sure you all don't leave this place alive! This is the end!" He exclaimed throwing a punkin bomb at them.
"Crap!" Spider-Man shouted and jumped up as high as he could. "Hold on tight!" He yelled out as the explosion went off, holding onto his friends he pulled them to safety around from Hobgoblin who kept on chasing them. Now machine gun fire came out of his glider.
"We're going to die!" Harry panicked, shaking.
"Please, please stop shaking and relax." Spider-Man said to him not feeling like making a joke at this moment. Moving as fast as he possibly could, he kept on shooting his webs pulling them away from the damage and found an opening getting out of the building, landing them on the ground. "Go run!" He exclaimed and leaped out of the way shooting more webs at him. "Alright Hobgoblin! I've already had it with you! What the heck are you after? And why are you back now?" Questioned Spider-Man trying to shoot webbing at his foe.
"Oh, revenge, simple as that. You'd be best to let Osborn die, trust me the world would be much better off without him." Hobgoblin claimed staying in the air.
"And what exactly has Osborn done to you? Did he ruin your day once? You seem like a kinda guy who'd get pretty upset over literally nothing!" Spider-Man remarked, trying to mock him and swung off heading to find Osborn and his lab partner.
Hobgoblin chased after him. "Fool! You won't listen to my warnings? Your not the best listener, are you, little man!"
"I'm not in the business of letting anyone die!" He responded and started searching for Norman Osborn.
"If that's your choice, I'll be making sure Osborn is a dead man!" He zoomed ahead of Spider-Man tossing down a lot more of his pumpkin bombs down onto the building making a part of it cramble down.
"No!" Spider-Man exclaimed and webbed onto him pulling him off the glider, making Hobgoblin fall into his fists getting seemingly knocked out.
He started grabbing all the dibries, moving it out of the way as the fire was catching up to him and his spider-sense was screaming at him to run. Though Peter was persistent and didn't stop searching, finding someone, but it wasn't Osborn it must've been his partner Stromm, who seemed greatly mamed. "Have you seen Mr. Osborn?" Peter questioned hopeful as he carefully grabbed him.
"No, I- oh no. He was over there!" He pointed to where the flames had taken over.
No, Harry can't lose his father, not like this. Peter said to himself, while his spider-sense kept going off and he noticed Hobgoblin escaping tossing back down more bombs to him. I've gotta leave. He finally accepted doing as such bringing Stromm to safety and seeing the compound bursting into flames as firefighters arrived trying to put it out.
"Dad!" Harry exclaimed as Gwen tried to hold him back. "Please! Someone has to save him! Come on!"
Peter watched this happening and was very disappointed in himself. I failed, poor Harry I should've been faster. Hobgoblin, I've gotta find him. Why did he want Mr. Osborn dead? What was he after? It doesn't matter now, they need me and it's my birthday later and they've gotta be worried about me. This isn't over. When I find that Goblin I'm going to take him down once and for all.
After he got out of his Spider-Man suit he rushed over to his friends, pretending to be bothered by the smoke and while he was actually hurt by his fight with Hobgoblin.
"Are you all okay?" He immediately asked.
"My dad, I think he's, he's-" Harry couldn't finish his sentence.
Peter pretended to be shocked. "You think he's hurt? I still think the firefighters could still find him, Harry."
"Didn't you see how many explosions there were, it'd have to be a marcile!" Gwen pointed out intensively and realized it. "I'm sorry Harry, I didn't mean that."
"It's okay. We should leave. Have to go to Peter's birthday" Harry said with a frown.
Peter put his hand on Harry's shoulder. "Hey, it's okay, forget my birthday. This is far more of a priority than my birthday.'
"No, it's fine. We should go to your house." Harry said calmly.
They all looked at each other and nodded in agreement.
Before they could leave, someone approached Donald Menken, who would be taking over Oscorp assuming Norman was gone. "What's happened? Young Harry, are you alright? Have they found your father?"
"No, Menken they haven't. Where were you?" Harry questioned him, looking angry.
"Running late I'm afraid, though perhaps it was a blessing." He responded.
"You a-" Gwen pulled Harry away from Menken seeing he was being a complete jerk to him and both of them quite frankly wanted to hit him.
Peter's spider-sense too sensed danger around him and he felt a pit in his stomach around Menken, disliking him greatly.
They walked away and creeply Menken looked at him almost like he knew something that Peter didn't.
"Hey, Harry, ignore him, let's go." Peter said and looked over at MJ looking concerned, but she grabbed his hand as the friends left, while the fire fighters and Menken stayed.
Elsewhere, The Hobgoblin returned back to his hideout, finding the Vulture putting the finishing touches on his new suit and watching the tv looking awfully pleased with a giant smile on his face.
"I see that Osborn is a dead man." He said, turning to him.
"With any luck, yes. A snake like him could've survived and if he has, we'll be ready to strike. Until then, we've got more enemies of our great ambitions, all the money and power we'll have. It'll be incredible." Hobgoblin claimed.
His ally looked uncertain. "What about Spider-Man? He's our biggest threat now, it's time to stop ignoring him."
"Killing the kid would bring more attention to us. Completely unnecessary." He responded genuinely.
Vulture stood up and looked at him. "Funny, you should get onto proper terms with your partner. He happened to disagree with your conclusion last time I asked."
"I have no idea what you are talking about." He replied not very believable.
"Sure you don't, tell me, who exactly are you? And where is the other one? Wouldn't two of you be better than one?"
He stared at him. "All you need to know simply put, we have the same goals and that's all that should matter. Why must you know more?" Hobgoblin asked, rubbing his head in frustration by it.
"I like knowing exactly who I'm working with and I wasn't told there were two of you. I'm not feeling as trusted now." Adrian said to him looking unhappy.
"Don't worry yourself, we're all going to get what we're after and my partner, he'll be returning soon not to worry." The mysterious Hobgoblin left once again. Leaving Adrian thinking over their deal
The four friends sat at Peter's home, unsure of what to do now, pretty much only watching the tv wondering what was going to happen with Harry's father.
Aunt May was trying to keep everyone's spirits up high and be there for Peter at the sametime, she always was the most caring person in the room and doing so much for everyone around her. "Harry, I know they'll find your father. He's got reason to keep on fighting, to live another day. That being you of course. Even in that worst case scenario we'll all be here for you Harry, we're not going anywhere." She said moving in to hug the young Osborn warmly.
"Yeah, I guess so. He's alive and they'll find him. You're right and even if not, I've got all of you to help me through this. I can get through this, we should focus on your party Pete, that's why we're all here after all." Harry then pointed out accepting he couldn't do anything more right now.
"I don't know guys, it doesn't feel right." Peter admitted.
"It's what I want, please Pete. Let's just celebrate! Come on!" Harry said, trying to sound more like his cheerful self again.
Peter looked at his friends and sighed. "Alright, let's have this surprise party."
"Not really a surprise party anymore, is it?" Replied MJ.
He shrugged. "It doesn't matter, having you all here with me is the best kind of party, with a surprise party I don't know what I'm going to get and believe me, being on my toes is what I'm usually doing! So not having a surprise party, not the biggest loss I've ever had before." He said trying to be jokey once more.
"You're right about that Pete! Screw surprise parties!" Harry exclaimed trumptently.
"It was my idea." Pointed out Gwen looking at him, being more sarcastic.
Harry looked embarrassed. "I revoke my last statement!"
Aunt May went into the kitchen and rolled out a lovely looking cake.
"Look at that! Chocolate! No wonder you three didn't tell me what it was." MJ said sarcastically, smiling.
"Don't worry MJ, as the birthday boy I say you get the majority of that cake, I know you'll strangle me if I don't." Peter joked right back at her.
"I'd totally not, depending on how good that cake is, did you make it May?" She asked.
She nodded. "I sure did, spent all day working on it. Hopefully you will enjoy it, after today you four certainly could use a scrumptious piece of cake!"
"Oh Aunt May, you made it, we'll all love it! And you better have a piece of it yourself too." Peter responded smiling and holding her hands.
"It's okay, at my age I shouldn't be having that much sugar!" She joked, also somewhat seriously about it.
They all sat down, deciding on eating the cake and munching down onto it happily feeling much better getting to spend time together again, not thinking about the trouble that occurred earlier on. All of them started singing happy birthday for Peter, who enjoyed listening to them.
The celebration was interrupted from the tv declaring someone was found alive underneath the debris.
"Dad!" Harry exclaimed, nearly sending his chair flying across the room with how fast he got up rushing to see for himself. Indeed it was, Norman Osborn found.
"We've got a survivor! Mr? Do you remember your name?" The firefighter asked, pulling him out to safety.
"Yes, my name is Norman Osborn. In fact, I'm feeling incredible. However, this feeling has come over me, I'm tired, need rest, now." He declared with a sinister smirk, then collapsed to the ground.
"We need paramedics here now!" They shouted as Norman was carried away.
Everyone at the Parker home kept on watching, completely shocked by the turn of events and hoped he'd make it through this, not knowing what was coming next.
I hope you all enjoyed the beginning of this small arc, which will naturally be an overarching story arc, but less dead set on it like before. It's nice finally getting to build up Hobgoblin and the reveal that I honestly came up with somewhat last minute, but I believe it'll be a great idea paying off more things I was trying to figure out, I've thought about it a ton and figured it all out. Along with a nod to comic history with the mystery. Looking forward to what's coming next. There is a lot coming up.
Also, as I'm sure some or most of you noticed, everything at Ozcorp was inspired by the 90's Spider-Man series from a certain season 3 episode. I believe with nostalgia, it is my favorite show/cartoon of all time. This series takes some inspiration from it, as it's pretty obvious and spectacular Spider-Man R.I.P. Ignoring nostalgia, it's Avatar: The Last Airbender, if you haven't watched it, stop reading and do that lol. I only saw it early this year with my partner and loved it to death. One of the highest points of my year was watching that.
In Response to C.G
You're welcome, I'm happy to respond to your postings as always.
#1 I love your idea of having it happen and turning them into the Savage Six, I agree it was more appropriate.
#2 I thought that it'd take place during one story, thank you for confirming. I'm sorry for not having more to say about all of that, I think it sounds amazing and is a fantastic way to end that storyline for all of them having their emotional reunions and confronting the issues they all faced. I love it a lot. It's very well thought out. I don't really have anything to add. I think it's perfect sounding.
#3. I like that she'd try to live an honest life in this version and the reason she'd ultimately become The Black Cat. I agree she should be seen as an anti-hero. I love it all a lot. I'll be sure to remember it.
PS. Thank you, I really wish I was able to finish up the finale sooner. Yes I really want it to end with a bang, it's the payoff to 2 years of work and all your helpful suggestions, so I want to give it the justice it deserves. Also unfortunately this month has proven to be an incredibly difficult one for me. I can't say as if right now I've done any real progress sadly this month. I'm trying to write still and keep myself from getting out of touch with it again, but ultimately I haven't made any real progress that'll be seen by anyone so I really hope that'll change again soon.
