Sniper turned down the ever so familiar dirt road for the first time in a long time and smiled. The van moseyed along with forest greens on either side of the vehicle and turned sharply to the left. There it was. He brought the van to a stop in front of his empty family home. In the years it had been empty it had obviously taken some damage, but it was still breathtaking to him. Scout exited and stopped to stand next to next to him. Sniper stood, drowning in the flood of memories that struck when he saw his home. His first harvest with his mum, hunting trips with his dad, everything came back at once, leaving his eyes wet. Sniper was ripped back to reality when Scout shook him lightly. "You good?" he asked. Sniper blinked away his blurry vision and blushed. "Yeah, just thinking.." Sniper turned back to the van and got his bags out, along with some of Scout's bags. Scout was already trying to open the door, not realizing Sniper had the keys. "I think it's jammed." Scout's face dropped when Sniper pulled out his keys and unlocked the door easily. Sniper turned to face Scout, green eyes meeting blue. "Smart ass." Scout gave him a light shove and the latter chuckled. Sniper pushed the rusted door open and got a face full of dust and nostalgia. He took a step in and allowed his eyes to adjust to the empty house. Everything was just as he had left it, albeit grime covered. The sheet covered couch of the living room faded into view. Sniper put his bags down and stepped further into the house, Scout doing the same. He walked into the kitchen and opened the curtains for the first time in years allowing in rays of the midday sun inside. Outside sat a neglected vegatble patch and past it was a golden field of wheat and weeds. In the center of the field of wheat was his old hunting stand, almost invisible among the grass. His study of his old residence was quickly forgotten when he heard a shrill scream from his old bedroom. "Snipes, come quick!" Sniper sprinted down the hall to find Scout standing in the doorway, pointing at the corner. Sat in the corner was a fairly large spider, at least by Scout standards. Sniper crouched closer, despite the squawks of protest by the runner. The tawny huntsman scurried under the bed at Sniper's approach, to Scout's horror. "That's it, I'm out." Scout said as he turned swiftly. "whot?" Sniper asked as he turned back to face the shorter man. "There's a giant spider in my room! What do you want me to do?" "Wait, roo, you think that's big?" Sniper held in a laugh as the color drained from Scout's face. "They get bigger than that?" Scout stuttered out, paler than a sheet. "Yup." Sniper said watching Scout turn whiter than he had previously believed possible. "Then I'm staying in your room till it's safe." Sniper opened his mouth to protest, but knowing Scout, he kept it shut. This wouldn't be the first time he'd faltered when it came to him, but there was no changing Scout's mind when it was set on something.
