Power skipped down into the lobby as she glanced over her shoulder to the two man that where following her. She smiled to herself, wondering how their blood would taste, or even better how much fun they could be. The young gloomy one seemed to be not much older than Aki and Denji as for the older man he seemed old enough to be his dad at the very least.
She didn't note a familial resemblance and apparently they were just partners in law enforcement but still. Power couldn't help but giggle at the idea of bringing one of them home and seeing how they would taste.
As they entered the main lobby Power turned to face the pair and smiled brightly and arrogantly as she always did. "So boys, Makima tells me to help you out so how shall I do so! Rip someone's arms of and dose ourselves in their blood?" she asked both with equal levels of glee and excitement.
Qrow and Megumi glanced at each other for a moment, wondering if this girl was genuine or just acting, and from Power's expression they hoped it was the latter.
"All we need is a bit of information about the state of your investigation and how we may be able to assist you if able" Megumi replied to her. Power's ears perked up at hearing him talk, he had a smooth and calm voice. And she kind of liked that.
"Hmmm you're a cutie. Wanna ditch this old loser and get to know each other better…" Power said sprinting up to Megumi and light tracing a finger over his chest and under his chin while she smiled at him. A somewhat malicious smile but a smile nonetheless.
"Not interested," Megumi replied without any emotion in his voice "now let us please just do our job!" Megumi took a step forward into the main hobby of the Devil Hunters HQ and Power stook back completely dumbfounded with her mouth agape as the fact just set in that she was just rejected.
"RUDE MUCH!" Power shrieked in annoyance and with a huff she crossed her arms and began to walk off with Qrow watching her go, trying very hard to surpass a giggle.
After sending Denji off, Makima called in a meeting with her higher ups, the first time doing so on her own accord. So once again she returned to the door at the end of the hall, leading to a room filled with darkness and a giant table, the six familiar silhouettes sitting at it.
"State your business Makima. What is so important that you felt the need to contact us" the deep voice of the man in charge spoke.
"I won't take much of your time mister boss man" Makima started before she heard a growl followed by "would it kill you to speak to our leader with his appointed title! You filthy little…" a snap of the leader's fingers immediately silenced the one who spoke, who seemed to slink back down in their seat.
"As I was saying. Today I received a visit from two men claiming to work for national security. Normally that would mean nothing but the problem is that somehow that they seem to know about the existence of your organization. So whoever they are, they are not here for the reasons they claim they are and a such I figured it was best to inform you all."
"What where the names of these two men?" another voice asked, this time it came from the man with a clear accent.
"Qrow Branwen and Megumi Fushiguro. Do those names ring any bells to you?" Makima told them.
"One of them does," a voice spoke, a very calm and soft one "permission to speak my lord?"
"Permission granted. Speak Kenjaku" the boss replied.
Makima looked as one of the shadowy figures stood up. The one known as Kenjaku. Revealing himself towards the light, a tall man with long dark hair and wearing Buddhist like attire, with the most notable aspect to him being the horizontal almost surgical scar across his forehead.
"Megumi Fushiguro, if I recall correctly is the son of a man I…or rather the man whose body I inhabit, once fought alongside…him. From what I know this boy was abandoned by his father at a young age, but has inherited the powerful abilities of his clan. He has potential but I doubt he be a sufficient threat at his young age."
Makima heard mumbling across the table after Kenjaku's explanation. Until a snap silenced everyone and she could see the shadow of the leader facing her direction, she glanced her eyes towards his hands, the golden gauntlet he was wearing was almost on full display.
"Did you undertake any kind of action against them Makima?" he asked politely.
"Not directly no. I have send my good dog Denji after them to keep an eye on them just in case" Makima told him.
"YOU IMBECILE!" a voice shouted once again "first you continue to disrespect our great leader at every turn. But now you jeopardize the existence of our organization by sending that pathetic slobbering mongrel after them. Who do you think you are! You worthless incompetent little!"
"ENOUGH!" the leader shouted as part of his gauntlet shined blue and pulled the disruptor seemingly down back into his seat.
"I have had enough with your outbursts Henry! Do you doubt my ability to speak for myself?" the leader asked, clearly rhetorically.
In this instant, the man, or rather being known as Henry seemed to immediately go from intimidating and fierce, to a sniveling puppy that knew he had messed up.
"Not at all my lord! I have complete faith in your capabilities" he replied.
"Then I suggest you might want to take an example from the boy under Makima's care, unlike you he seems to know his place" the leader spoke up sternly. Henry growled slightly in the shadows and kept quiet.
Makima saw the sight unfold and chuckled. She did always enjoy seeing Henry be put in his place considering how he treated her with absolute scorn. Not that she particularly cared about what he thought to begin with, but the sentiment was still nice regardless.
"Do you have faith in this boy of yours Makima?" the leader asked her.
"He will do everything I say. And when I tell him to do something, he will do everything in his power not to disappoint me" Makima answered, her hands now behind her back.
"Very well," the leader spoke as he stood up from his chair, the golden gauntlet with the six colorful stones in clear view "report back to us if you discover anything new. But remember this, if that boy fails, then we will hold you personally responsible for the consequences that follow. Do I make myself clear Makima?"
In this moment, Makima felt a chill go over her spine and she almost instinctively bowed to the man in charge. This was a new feeling, or at the very least a very rare one. But she didn't feel like the powerful one in the room. Instead she felt what Denji felt when he looked at her, she was the one above him, he was her loyal dog who would fight her noble mission for her. But in this moment, Makima didn't feel like the one holding the leash, but instead…instead she felt like a leash was now put on her.
The feeling was so strange. She was no longer the one in charge here…he was.
Slowly composing herself and standing straight up, Makima could say only one thing in response.
"Crystal clear, my Lord Titan."
A/N: This story is as you have all probably guessed part of my "Collective Chronicles" series, the inclusion of Megumi from Jujutsu Kaisen and Qrow from RWBY making that very much clear. But now to answer the question of when does this story take place because believe me, this series does have a timeline which is surprising considering the multiverse aspect of it all. This story actually takes place before "This is my World" which was the first story of the Collective Chronicles I have written before the idea of making it a series even came up. This story is intended to take place before the events of "This is my World" but I try to write it in a way that it can still be read as its own story and it's definitely a bit more sexual because I feel with Chainsaw Man I can afford to let lose a bit more since it fits the series.
