"Come on, Ava!" Ellis called over her shoulder to her large pet who was sniffling around at a random tree.

It wasn early in the morning and she wanted to be back before breakfast with the others after which they could play with Ezran, Bait and Zym.

Then she stopped and gasped in delight at seeing a small mouse-like animal she hadn't seen before, sitting under a mushroom, looking around itself.

Then she jumped when Ava suddenly soomed past her, right at the mushroom and mouse.

"Wait! Ava, no!" Ellis cried when Ava stood on her hind legs in excitement and slammed down onto her front paws.

Right in a way that would have one paw crushing the mouse.

"No!" she gasped, running over only yo find the mouse and it's mushroom perfectly fine, staring up at Ava in wonder.

Ellis wondered for a moment how the mouse was okay before realizing there was no leg that could have crushed it.

Right... Ava only had three legs.

Lujanne, the elf that lived on top of the Cursed Caldera turned out to not be a miracle healer but someone who put an illusion on Ava, making it look like she had four legs.

It was weird, seeing her like this.

"Out for a morning walk?" another voice suddenly called, making Ellis jump and turning around she found the elf she was thinking about walking their way.

"O-Oh! Good morning!" she greeted awkwardly.

"Good morning, Ellis." Lujanne greeted her before walking past her to pet Ava between the ears, "Good morning, Ava."

Ava gave a happy whine and leaned into the touch.

"How are the two of you doing?" she asked.

"We're good! I mean, Ava's not acting any different since you took off that illusion! I mean, she of course knew she didn't have that leg but-" Ellis ranted, only stopping when Lujanne held up a hand.

"Breathe, dear." she gently told her, making Ellis realise she was indeed a little breathless.

"Sorry." she apologized meekly, making the elf laugh.

"No worries at all!" she assured her.

"I suppose it must have been a shock, having a little injured puppy with three legs, some weird old lady like me showing up and making it look like she had four legs, living in peace for a couple years like that, only to meet this weird old lady again and showing that Ava still has three legs, all this time." she then smirked at the girl.

"You're not some weird old lady!" Ellis blurted.

"Yes, I am!" Lujanne laughed before sighing.

"I knew from the start she didn't need that leg." she said, scratching Ava behind the ears.

"But how?" Ellis asked.

"Because she had you." Lujanne answerred, laying a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Me?" Ellis blinked.

"Yes, you. I could tell from the moment I saw Ava that she had a strong will to live, but I could see in you that you had a strong will to help and protect her. You were already so full of love for her and I knew she's grow up big and strong with you. And now look at her, bigger and stronger then either of us probably ever would have dared to imagine!" she stopped petting and scratching Ava to gesture to all of her.

"I guess that's true." Ellis admitted, feeling herself blush.

"I don't think anyone would try to doubt her now, would they?" Lujanne asked, and Ellid shook her head.

"No, not after how much food she's hunted down for many people to eat front!" she agreed.

"Good and even if they attempt to disapprove of Ava now, I want you to shut them down as often as needed. Kicki them between the legs if that shuts them up for all I care." Lujanne smirked and Ellis burst out laughing.

"I will! Nobody insults my Ava! She's perfect just as she is!" she announced.

"That's what I wanted to hear. Now, why don't we go and get us some breakfast?" she suggested and with that they all headed off.
