"No, Abs, we don't all need Hallowe'en pyjamas," Tony was trying to persuade the incredibly enthusiastic scientist.
Who was even more enthusiastic than usual due to her "great idea".
"Of course we do!"
"We really don't."
This was one thing that he definitely wanted to persuade her out of. DiNozzos didn't do themed pyjamas. Not for Christmas and definitely not for Hallowe'en. Or whatever other holiday you could get themed pyjamas for. No. Themed. Pyjamas.
Unfortunately, Abby didn't seem to understand that.
"Come on, it would set the whole spooky atmosphere with those horror movies you're watching," she tried, giving them another shake in his face for good measure.
He got up close and personal with Jack Skellington's face. Really? There were Nightmare Before Christmas pyjamas?
"How do you know I'm watching spooky movies?"
She gave him a look.
"I know you."
"Fair enough." She beamed at him. "But still no pyjamas!"
And her face fell again. "But Tony!"
"But nothing. No pyjamas!"
Then a smirk appeared on her face.
"You'd like that, wouldn't you?"
That got him spluttering.
"Abby!"
"What?" She asked far too innocently.
Just how many Caf-POWs had she had today? Definitely too many if she was coming up with ideas and saying things like this.
He shook his head. "Just... don't."
"I'm just saying..."
"Abby."
She put her hands in the air. "Okay, okay. Sheesh."
"What is going on?" Ziva asked, poking her head around the door.
"Ziva!" Abby exclaimed, running over to her and dragging her in.
"Abby?" Ziva said in a bewildered voice as she allowed their resident lab rat to manhandle her.
"Hi! How are you?" She said extremely happily making Ziva give her an alarmed look.
"I am okay. I just came down here for Tony."
"Which means we should go," Tony said quickly, reaching for his partner.
She took a step back away from both of them and eyed them suspiciously.
"What do you want?"
"I want to get back to work," Tony told her.
"Nothing," Abby said in far tooan m innocent tone.
Which Ziva was not fooled by for a second. She narrowed her eyes. Abby caved immediately.
"I got you and Tony Hallowe'en pyjamas."
This only seemed to confuse Ziva.
"Hallowe'en pyjamas?"
Abby nodded, pigtails bobbing, seemingly encouraged by the fact that Ziva didn't immediately shoot her down.
"Yeah, they do these cute sets and I got myself a pair, several actually, and then I saw these and I thought that they would be perfect for you two..."
"I thought you said that Christmas pyjamas were a thing?" Ziva asked. "I have not heard about Hallowe'en ones."
"Because they aren't a thing," Tony told her.
"They are too a thing!" Abby said indignantly. "You can get ones with skulls and pumpkins and little black cats..."
"They aren't an established tradition," Tony amended.
"Which means we should make it a tradition!"
"No."
But of course, nothing could deter Abby when she got an idea like this in her head. Nothing ever did. Trust him, they had all tried. Multiple times. And this time was no different.
"I even got McGee and Palmer pyjamas," Abby wheedled. "They said they would wear them."
"That does not mean that we have to wear them," Ziva tried.
Abby did not feel like this was a valid excuse.
"Does the fact that I don't wear pyjamas to bed get me out of this?" Tony tried.
"It is true, he does not," Ziva backed him up.
See? If he didn't wear any pyjamas, he certainly couldn't wear Hallowe'en ones. No point in going outside the norm on something like this.
"Ziva on the other hand," Tony said mischievously, trailing off suggestively, only for Ziva to elbow him sharply. "Ow! Wears pyjamas! I was going to say you wear pyjamas to bed!"
He rubbed at his side. That had hurt. He'd only been joking around. Ziva gave him a warning look. Fine then, no more jokes.
Abby stopped in her tracks and gave the two of them an appraising look.
"And how do you know what each other wears to bed?"
They both froze at that and said nothing. If they said nothing, they couldn't be implicated in anything. If they denied it then that would look incredibly suspicious. They couldn't win. Though, saying nothing seemed to be the safest bet. But all that made Abby do was put her hands on her hips which was never a good sign.
"Well?"
"I'm nosy?" Tony tried.
"He is," Ziva agreed.
It wasn't much of a stretch to believe that he had gone snooping around in her apartment at some point. In fact, he definitely had because that's just what he did. Though, not her pyjama drawer or wherever she kept them but Abby did not need to know that.
"Which could explain why Tony knows about your sleepwear but not the other way around," Abby pointed out.
They were saved by the ringing of the lab phone. Abby kept staring at them as she answered.
"Hello? Gibbs? Yes, they're still here, I'm just trying to get them to- But Gibbs! I'm not... yes, I know. Just five more... please? Okay, okay. Geez. Love you, bye!"
She hung it up and pouted at them.
"Good news?" Tony asked hopefully, making her sigh.
"Gibbs wants you back upstairs."
"Yes!" And then he caught sight of Abby's disapproving look. "I mean, oh, no."
Ziva snorted behind him. She wasn't helping.
"Well, we better go, Abby," Ziva said quickly, grabbing Tony and starting to leave. "We must not keep Gibbs waiting."
Even Abby couldn't argue with that, could she? It turns out she couldn't, though she didn't look pleased with this fact at all. But they managed to get outside the lab and they all but high-tailed it to the elevator.
She did about something after them about the pyjamas but they both ignored her.
"Do you think we managed to persuade her?" Tony asked quietly as they went into it and pressed the button for their floor.
"Absolutely not."
