Hello old friends! It has been a stressful week, but I've got an update my loves. Anyway, reminder that I wrote this a while ago so the writing is pretty choppy and I'm sorry if it's difficult to read. Disclaimer: not my characters, but JK Rowling's. (Unfortunately)

The most momentous event of course was the discovery of Remus Lupin's deepest darkest secret. A spoken word that made him jitter with anxiety and a never-ending fear nibbled at him.

His parents still locked him away in utter terror of what their precious only child would become. They invalidated his feelings and hid him away in his room. Only unlocking his door the day after to give him a healing potion along with his favorite food, then they rushed him to leave and catch up on his missed studies.

However, his friends were always awaiting him with open arms. A wide smile and a concerned look was always present. It showed that even if his parents may never have an open heart at least his true family did. Then again they only thought his mother was sick, she was sick with worry. The only person who truly knew was Sirius, and he truly had open arms, which was strange since he never hugged people.

Mean Sirius had never even given his brother from another mother a hug. Not even after seeing Evans and Severus holding hands. Not lovingly but any sort of affection shown by Evans to Snape made Potter upset. Jealousy fuelled his emotions much too much, it damaged his own pride. But he had enough arrogance to shrug it off.

November rolled around lazily before the group felt a rising suspicion at the monthly disappearances of their friend. Sirius would always brush it off but if anyone knows James, then just like his counterpart he is stubborn as hell. Never relenting on any subject or aspiration that interested him.

The full moon on November 20th brightened the whole sky. Remus was lost in his dark clouded mind, not able to control or understand what he was doing. He was locked in the old small house he called home, he barely heard the howls that erupted from his own furry chest.

All the way back in Hogwarts, three boys lay awake. Sirius watched out the bay window of their dormitory, James watching with him. They played a game where they would point out the different places they had pulled pranks and what they had done.

Peter busied himself lying on the ground surrounding himself by stacks and stacks of parchment, his tongue stuck out in furious concentration. The quill in his hand scribbling down nonsense.

James just finished his rendition of the story where Sirius pranked an innocent Hufflepuff third-year into aging 100 years. It earned him two days detention, one of his lamer pranks. Potter flicked his eyes down to the stubby boy on the floor.

"What are you doing, Petey?" James stood up from his comfortable seat, and curiously watched over Pettigrew's shoulder. The words morphing into the essay that was due tomorrow for Charms.

"I thought you finished that in the Library earlier? With Sirius?" James's eyes darted to Black's who flipped head back out the window to avoid the subject of earlier that day.

Had Black truly gone to the library to study? Yes and no, Potter was at practice and Peter was going to go to the library to meet up with Remus's friends. Remus kindly introduced Peter to the girls a month ago, informing him to keep their friendship a secret.

Curiosity got the best of Sirius and he met Peter's supposed friends, which turned out to be McKinnon and her friends. Which of course included James's aforementioned crush.

The girls always came to the library to conjoin with their friend from another house. The Gryffindor girls (Lily Evans, Marlene McKinnon, Alice Fortescue, Mary MacDonald) would meet with their third year Slytherin friend, Dorcas Meadowes. Who just like Lily had a strong hatred for the arrogant toerag that is named James Potter.

When Sirius arrived the girls offered him scowls and sneers, but his eyes trained on the one familiar face—McKinnon. Sure, he would love to be better acquaintances with James's future girlfriend but she was rather bothersome to him currently. Seeing as she had yet to show James any bit of kindness.

"What are you doing here Black?" Sirius cringed at the last name, recognizing Dorcas immediately. James played an awfully funny prank at the beginning of this term where she had now a strand of hair that had been permanently dyed a bright yellow. She had vowed her vengeance on him but he was always able to evade her.

"Studying with my pal. What about you Dorcas?" She scowled at him before muttering the same thing. With a smug grin he sat down next to the embarrassed Peter, who mouthed an apology to Evans. She just rolled her eyes before looking back down at her Charms textbook.

If Potter had known that when Remus and Peter go to see their library friends it was really Evans and her crew, he would skip practice just to study with her. Although Black doubted that Potter could truly study with her in a room.

Back to that night in the dorm, Black watched Pettigrew nod and agree to the fact he finished his essay. "I'm finishing Remus's in case he doesn't have time to. I know if my mother was ill then I'd be spending every moment with her on my monthly trips."

Sirius had a small smile as he looked down at the sweet boy. It was such a kind thought for him to ponder. Helping out Lupin like this. Sirius looked back up at the full moon. Wondering how Remus was doing at this hour. Was he writhing in pain, was he howling at the moon, was he controlling any bit of himself.

A deep sigh came from within, something he hadn't meant to do. It raised James's attention, who now also lied on the floor reading over Peter's essay. James watched Sirius's sullen expression, unused to the sadden face.

"Mate, what's got your wand in a knot?" James asked genuinely as he was getting up from his spot. He crossed over to the window looking at the horizon of the trees and the moon peeking from behind them.

Curiosity then filled James, he peered up at the full moon and took note. He then proceeded to his astronomy textbook, which lay hidden in his chest. He hadn't used it once this year, letting Sirius do his homework instead.

Black watched his moves tentatively before shutting the burgundy curtains and heading towards his bed. The wooden bed creaked as he hopped down on it. He barked a laugh before shuffling into the Gryffindor print covers. James had asked his parents to buy Sirius new sheets for the year.

"I'm off to sleep." Sirius grumbled before flipping his pillow and plopping his head on it. His head landed with a soft thud and snore elicited itself out of Sirius's chest.

James shook his head chuckling to himself a bit. He looked back at the tired Peter who was resisting sleep on the floor. James quickly cleaned up the parchment and ink. Trying to heave the heavy boy up and into bed, James groaned before failing.

He settled with shaking the boy awake, Peter woke with a start before calmly looking at James. He yawned and stretched before lazily walking to his bed and plopping, falling fast asleep on the bed sheets.

Potter softly chuckled and turned off the lights. He settled down and closed his eyes, preparing himself for the nightmares that welcomed themselves into his mind. His stubborn mind.

The earlier question flew through his mind like a snitch. He needed to find the answer, and he wouldn't rest until he did. As he heard another hoot from an owl, he quietly got up and lightened his wand. Using the darkness of the night to shield his figure, he crept down the spiraling staircase of the boys' dormitory.

He found the comfort of the red couch by the fire, and cracked open both his Defense book and Astronomy. He used the hazy light from the fire and moon to read his interest.

He was reading a bit about the difference between animagus and werewolves, when he heard a creak from another spiraling staircase. He stood up with his wand at ready, to be meant with misty green eyes and messed up red hair.

He stuttered at the beauty of Lily Evans, surely he hadn't been this close and this alone with her. She hazily looked at him with a scowl. She grumbled something before walking down the rest of the stairs.

James sat back down and continued to read up on his subject. He was so entranced he didn't notice the glaces that Lily stole to look at what he was studying. "Why are you reading up on animagus in the middle of night, Potter?"

Her voice was doused with sleep and it barely even reached a whisper. He slammed the book shut and cringed at the loudness. James shook it away before staring intently back at her. He noticed a familiar look of red-rimmed eyes almost swollen half-way shut.

"Nothing, just doing some reading to make me fall asleep." He gruffed out before turning around and regathering his things. He learned enough information for now, anticipating the return of Remus.

"Oh. Well, night Potter." She yawned out before turning back up the girls' dormitory staircase.

Potter watched her figure as she stumbled up, feeling a rising smirk. He sighed contently before departing to his own dormitory.

The next morning he awoke at the sound of an owl. He looked around at his sleeping mates and looked at the blooming Sun of the east. At this moment he decided to go on a run, starting a new morning ritual that cleared his mind.

In a different city, Remus Lupin had just awoken from his monster trance. He looked down at the disheveled clothes and sighed. Another full moon, another ruined outfit. He quickly changed into his Hogwarts robes, excited to eat a large meal before buying some sweets for his friends.

His new iron door was silent as he opened it. The house not so much, the old wooden floorboards creaked under the lanky boy. He heard his parents idle chatter and sighed. Preparing himself for their temporary love.

"Remus, how was last night? Are all your side effects gone yet?" His father nonchalantly said, not even looking up from his Daily Prophet.

"It was fine, I feel fine." He answered quickly. Then he looked up at his mother's loving eyes as she set his plate of food before him. He thanked her before digging in.

His father looked over his newspaper watching the ravenous teenage boy, he smiled broadly before returning to his reading. "Where are we going today?" He asked as his eyes scanned an article about a muggle killing near the Ministry.

Remus swallowed his chunk of goats before replying, "Charming's Chocolatier."

His father nodded and gave him a noncommittal noise. His mother noticed and graced over to his father and smacked his head. "Your son, who we barely get to see, was talking to you."

Remus watched with a smile, his father surrendered under her gaze and returned his attention to him. He looked at his boy, Remus wondered what he was thinking at that moment. A certain unknown gleam always appeared in his father's eyes, he had yet to decipher the meaning.

"Any reason in particular you want to go there?" His father was picking at the food on Remus's plate, which Remus playfully tried to swat.

"Nope, I just need to get my friend's food, and I need to get my savior. Chocolate." His father let out a short laugh at Remus's response. Before his father collected his unfinished plate and put it in the sink.

His father disappeared for a few minutes before returning in his robes and holding out his hand. Remus yelled for his mother, who ran inside immediately. She ran over to the two boys and wished them a goodbye.

But just as they were about to apparate, she told them to stop. The two boys exchanged a knowing look before Mrs. Lupin reentered, holding a glass bottle with green liquid. Remus sighed before uncorking the bottle and chugging it, the replenishing feel of healing washing over his body.

He redid his goodbye with his mother before gripping his father's hand and apparating into a wizarding village. His father took him to the shop and he bought his already known favorites.

His father rushed him, telling him to hurry up or he'll be late for class. Remus knew that if he returned he would sit in the Nurse's office until tomorrow, but he didn't want to enlighten his parents to that fact.

Finally, he was apparated to Hogsmeade, his father saying goodbye before leaving him with Professor McGonagall. The considerate professor walked him over to Hogwarts, Remus's true home.

The day in the Nurse's office went wretchedly slow. He was eager to get back to his friends. To prank another first year and watch the poor kid's face grow red. And before he knew it Professor McGonagall was back to inform of the time the next morning.

He thanked his professor before heading to the Great Hall. As he entered he caught the eye of Lily, she looked at him for a bit before returning to her toast, nonchalantly reading while eating.

He sat down next to Sirius and grinned widely at him. Black responded with a pat on the back and sarcastic comment, Peter giving Remus a wide smile.

"Remus, I wasn't sure if you would have time to finish your essay on the memory charm so I did it for you just in case." Peter was munching down on jam and toast, his eyes scanning over a muggle newspaper.

"Thanks Pete, but I got it done. Where's James?" Remus looked around for the mop of black hair, no sign on him anywhere.

"Dunno. He wasn't there when we woke up." Sirius shrugged it off, focusing back to making his creation of Professor Slughorn's face with jam.

"I think I saw him running at the quidditch grounds." Peter told expectantly, his eyes gleaming with pride. Remus gave him a slight nod and smile.

Remus stood up to go look for James when the great hall doors opened. James strutted down the hall with the quidditch captain, Hamish Frater. They were laughing in their piles of sweat, James was soaked head to toe with his own sweat but sat down next to Peter anyway.

Peter responded with a cough and gagging noises. The boys snickering at James's smell, but he didn't mind. He just gathered a bunch of food and munched down.

Remus watched him ravenously eat and now understood how his father had felt earlier this week. He laughed softly to himself.

Eventually however James was ready. He had enough food and was ready to address the prominent issue that had been in his mind for the past thirteen hours.

He wiped his mouth before piercing Remus's eyes. Lupin was startled at the aggressive look that he was given. He looked around the room before remeeting James's eyes.

"We need to talk." He said sternly, his voice low and quiet. Only the four boys hearing what he said and all their confused glances met each other. James abruptly stood up and walked out the hall. The other three boys quickly scrambled after him.
