Beginning A/N: Chapter two is now up and ready for everyone to read! Just like before, I've rewritten this chapter to help it better flow in the direction that I want this story to go in. I hope that you all enjoy this chapter, and as always, I thank you all for your support! Oh yeah, also, I should probably mention that all songs in this story will be portrayed as they were in the movie unless specified otherwise. Just thought you'd like to know that.
Disclaimer: I still don't own Legend of Korra or The Nightmare Before Christmas!

This is Halloween
A whole year has passed since Korra and her ever-faithful Polarbear-Dog, Naga, found that strange graveyard and went into that tomb with the descending staircase. In that time, some wonderful things have happened. The first of which being that Korra has regained the use of the lower half of her body thanks to a special energy that enhanced Katara's healing abilities beyond those of an ordinary healer. Which means that she can walk on her own again. Suffice to say, Korra's parents were ecstatic that their daughter was well again!
Physically, at least.
Mentally, it was a whole different ballgame.
Because of her torture and near-death experience at the hands of Zaheer and the Red Lotus, which the White Lotus got a severe punishment for causing, by the way, Korra's night terrors have persisted throughout the year to the point that she can only sleep for a few hours a night before waking up from the torturous dreams. She has also developed a fear of death that has severely crippled her bending ability and prevents her from entering the Avatar State. And though she doesn't know it yet, Korra can still feel miniscule amounts of mercury from when Zaheer had his Red Lotus Metalbenders poison her with that liquid metal to force her into the Avatar State and send her into a berserker rage. This small amount of foreign metal in her system has caused her movements to become slightly sluggish, which severely impaired her fighting abilities.
But in spite of the bad that has happened, a lot more good has come from Korra's discovery of that graveyard. And that was the discovery of a whole world dedicated to a holiday that existed long before bending came into the world. And that holiday was called Halloween. She never knew that such a holiday as that had even existed, as all previous knowledge of the holiday had been lost to history. But the world that created this holiday remained alive and waiting to bring scares and holiday fun to people the world over like they used to.
And thanks to Korra, they could.
She brought Halloween back to life in her world, and people had begun to celebrate it once again. Her actions in doing so led to her becoming the apprentice to the leader of Halloween, Jack Skellington. And with that, her healing process had sped up dramatically.
And tonight was the night where Korra and Naga had traveled back to Halloween Town and were once again bringing the joy of Halloween to people everywhere!
It was pitch black as music began to ring out through the air. A pair of scarecrows, one taller than the other, cackle as they seem to point us towards another graveyard. And the shadows… begin to sing…
[Shadows]
Boys and girls of every age,
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?
[Siamese Shadow]
Come with us and you will see,
This our town of Halloween.
As we exit the gates to the graveyard, a small band of ghosts joins in the song, floating about as Jack o' Lanterns fall on to metal spikes that make up a fence. Each one has a different face from happy, to surprised, to screaming. A fine set of emotions.
[Ghost Chorus]
This is Halloween,
This is Halloween,
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night!
This is Halloween,
Everybody make a scene,
Trick or treat till the neighbors go and die of fright!
The ghosts fly over a sinister looking town as they continue the song.
[Ghost Chorus]
It's our town!
Everybody scream!
In this town of Halloween.
We enter a haunted house that shows us a couple of monsters that everyone has been afraid of as a child. The first of which was underneath a bed, hidden in the shadows. The only visible parts of the creature were a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth, and a pair of glowing red eyes that looked out with a frightening glare.
[Creature Under the Bed]
I am the one hiding under your bed,
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red!
The next monster had been hidden beneath a staircase. It had long, greasy black hair, a long muzzle that looked kind of like a duck's bill, and in place of fingers were long snakes that hissed and writhed around.
[Monster Under the Stairs]
I am the one hiding under your stairs,
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair.
[Chorus]
This is Halloween,
This is Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween.
Rising from multiple coffins, four vampires who are most likely brothers arose from their daytime slumber and made their way outside to the balcony. As they flew off, they began to sing in a manner that was similar to a barbershop quartet.
[Vampire Quartet]
In this town, we call home,
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song.
Next to sing was this town's mayor. He's decked out in fancy clothes, including a ridiculously tall top hat and a spider for a bow tie. His head is shaped kind of like a blunt cone and doesn't seem to be fully connected to his body, which makes up the rest of the cone shape that is his body. As he sings, he dances and does a twirl that reveals his body and head can spin a full 360 degrees independently of each other. But what I don't understand is why the back of his head has a large patch of pale skin.
[Mayor]
In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise!
A black cat rushes into an alley as the song continues, jumping on to the lid of a trash can before it's propelled high into the air by a Harlequin Demon who leaps out of the trash. Breaking through the wall was a werewolf, and a melting Man climbed out of the sewer. They all sang in a perfect alternating manner once the chorus was done.
[Chorus]
'Round that corner man, hiding in the trash can,
Something's waiting now to pounce and howl,
You'll…
[Harlequin Demon]
SCREAM!
[Werewolf]
This is Halloween!
[Harlequin Demon]
Red n' black.
[Melting Man]
And slimy green.
[Werewolf]
Aren't you scared?
Flying out of a well, two witches took over with singing. One was tall and skinny, the other was short and kind of pudgy. But both of them were as ugly as any other stereotype witch. Minus the whole black cat thing, of course.
[Witches]
Well, that's just fine.
Say it once, say it twice,
Take a chance and roll the dice.
Ride with the moon in the dead of night.
As the witches flew off, a large tree with skeletons hanging from its branches stalked into the town square. And like the residents before them, they too joined in the song.
[Hanging Tree]
Everybody scream,
Everybody scream!
[Hanging Men]
In our town called Halloween.
Next to arrive was a creepy looking clown riding a unicycle who grabbed his nose and tore off his own face before vanishing in a plume of smoke!
[Clown]
I am the clown with the tearaway face.
Here in a flash and gone without a trace.
As a rag doll woman brushed her hair, voices in the air continued the song before a sinister shadow on the moon took over before disbursing into a horde of bats.
[Voice]
I am the 'who' when you call 'who's there?'
[Wind]
I am the wind blowing through your hair.
[Boogeyman Shadow]
I am the shadow on the moon at night,
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright.
[Chorus]
This is Halloween,
This is Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween!
Now stalking their way into the square were some new residents. A devil, Mister Hyde, and a behemoth with an axe sticking out of his head. However, the behemoth was also pulling behind him a pair of straw horses. And riding those horses are the same scarecrows from before.
But our curiosity about such things would have to wait. For now, a guillotine sliced a pumpkin down the middle as a Bat Demon Child and a zombie kid with his eyes stitched shut began to sing as well. Followed by the Corpse Kid's parents.
[Corpse Kid and Bat Demon Child]
Tender lumplings everywhere.
Life's no fun without a good scare.
[Zombie Dad]
That's our job.
[Zombie Mom]
But we're not mean.
[Both]
In our town of Halloween.
[Chorus]
In this town,
[Mayor]
Don't we love it now?
Everyone's waiting for the next surprise!
Now, you all are probably wondering 'Hey! Where the heck is Korra during all of this?'. Well, I think these next lyrics ought to clear some things up for you. Especially since they revolve around the girl and her best friend.
[Graveyard Chorus]
Korra and Jack might catch you in the back,
And scream like banshees.
Make you jump out of your skin!
The two scarecrows suddenly came to life, and each grabbed a flaming torch from the crowd.
[Graveyard Chorus]
This is Halloween!
Everybody SCREAM!
The same rag doll woman from before appeared from behind the Hanging Tree and his Hanging Men as she watched the tallest scarecrow with adoration. But why, I don't know.
[Hanging Tree and Hanging Men]
Won'tcha please make way for a special gal and guy?
Now, it may be due to the straw that makes up the scarecrows being dead, dry, and rotting, but as soon as the two scarecrows swallowed their torches they burst into flames. Classic orange fire for the tall one, and ghostly blue fire for the smaller one. The two scarecrows then began to do a very flexible dance as they even scared a few members of the crowd with their fiery cackles.
[Graveyard Chorus]
Korra and Jack, Queen and King of the Pumpkin Patch.
Everyone hail to the King and Queen, now!
This is Halloween,
This is Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween!
After a few final steps in their dance, the scarecrows bent at the knees and proceeded to swan dive into a fountain of green water, extinguishing the fire and causing the crowd to gather and watch with anticipation.
[Corpse Kid and Mummy Child]
In this town, we call home,
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song.
As the people of the town finished up the song, two figures began to rise up from the water in a slow fashion. Their arms crossed and big grins on their faces.
[Graveyard Chorus]
La la la,
(Lalalalalalalala, Halloween, Halloween!)
La - la - la la la,
(Lalalalalalalala, Halloween, Halloween!)
La - la - la la la,
(Lalalalalalalala, Halloween, Halloween!)
La la la,
(Lalalalalalalala,)
La la la,
Wheeeee!
The crowd broke out into cheers and applause as they have just witnessed another successful Halloween come and go, all of it thanks to their beloved leaders.
The first figure is an eight-foot-tall skeleton that was quite skinny, even for a bag of bones. He was wearing a black and white pinstripe suit with black dress shoes, and a bat bow tie. But it's the other figure that would really make you question things.
It was a young woman with dark skin, cyan blue eyes, and dark brown hair that was allowed to flow down her back down to where her tailbone would be, styled to look like ruffled raven feathers. She was wearing a long, white and black pinstripe dress in an inverted pattern to the skeleton's suit, only the dress was made for function as well as fashion. The dress had a single strap that went around her neck while leaving her shoulders and upper back bare, and a slit that went halfway up the left leg that allowed for improved mobility. She wore a mask that covered her face from the nose up and resembled the face of a bird, a pair of high heel boots, fingerless spider silk opera gloves that went up past her elbows, and a women's bow tie that seemed to be made from a black widow spider. Her fingernails were longer, sharp like talons, and painted blood red, and poking from her upper lip was a pair of longer and sharper than normal canine teeth.
These two are Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween, and his surrogate sister and the future Pumpkin Queen of Halloween… Avatar Korra!
***To Be Continued…***
Ending A/N: And there's the new chapter for everybody! I'm sorry if it's not as long as I would have liked, but I hope you all like it anyway. I hope to have at least a few more chapters uploaded in time for Halloween and to finish this story by Christmas, but with my hectic schedule, maybe not. Still, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter. Please don't forget to leave a review, and I will see you all in my next update!
