Chapter 2
Not enough
After arriving back at the mountain, Jake immediately grabbed Everest's collar and dragged her into one of the cabins. While this was almost standard procedure for when she was in trouble, this was the first time he dragged her in, he usually just beckoned her over. As soon as they were inside, Jake firmly demanded, "Explain to me why you said that to him, NOW!"
"I was worried that him getting drunk would ruin my date with Marshall, like last time," admitted Everest sheepishly.
Jake then knelt down to meet her at eye level. "Everest, Porter's Café is a public space. Do Ivan and Isis not have as much of a right to have their date there as you and Marshall?"
Everest nodded guiltily.
"And don't you know better than to be rude to somebody like that," asked Jake.
Everest gave another guilty nod.
"Everest, the reason why what you said at the café was so bad is that Ivan has a very real problem with alcohol."
"I'll say, given number of times he's been whacked by Mjolnir," stated Everest.
"No Everest, he is struggling with alcohol, and I don't think you understand that."
"Yes I do," countered Everest unconvincingly.
"Anyway, you crossed a line today Everest, and I think more is necessary than just this conversation," informed Jake.
Everest gulped as she realized what Jake was hinting at.
"I'm going let you go now, but this isn't over, Everest."
Jake then Stood up and headed to the door, but before opening it, he added, "Because I don't feel you're actually sorry."
Notes:
What Jake was hinting at: He's implying she's going to get punished.
