Enjoy Lovebugs ;)
Sam had been working non-stop all day, if he wasn't consulting with patients, he was in surgery, if he wasn't in surgery, he was filling out paperwork. However, he had managed to find his wife, and get her to come with him to one of the call rooms. Although Sam wanted nothing more than to ravish his wife, he also recognized she was probably exhausted from returning to work after being with their daughter for five months straight non-stop. So he had decided just to hold her on the bed.
"You're thinking aren't you?" Mercedes asked as she looked up at him.
"Just about Iris about everything from last night," Sam sighed as he stroked her up.
"You know she said it out of anger right,"
"I know, doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt any less, I just don't want anything to happen to her, I mean she has grown up to be this amazing young woman. She is the rock for all of the kids, and I just don't want anything to happen to her."
"Baby that is more than understandable, but remember you are also the one that told her, she could start making her own decisions at this age, no matter how big or small they are. And this is one of those decisions." Mercedes reminded him. Sam leaned up and kissed her forehead causing her to lay back down.
"I hate it when you are right," Sam grumbled.
"Mmm, I know," She laughed. She was going to say something else when her pager buzzed, she grabbed it from her clip.
"Duty calls, see you later baby." She sighed, sat up, and gave Sam another kiss before leaving the ballroom, which gave Sam the alone time he needed to speak with his daughter.
Iris had headed to the hospital because she needed to speak with her Aunt Santana. She knew she was wrong for saying what she did to her father but she was just so angry at how unfair he was being about the whole situation. She thought he trusted her to make this decision but she assumed wrong. She headed out to the lunch patio area and sat in front of her aunt.
"Ok I have about fifteen minutes left tell me the bad, so I can go love on your Aunt Britt." Santana began as she ate her yogurt.
"First of all, that is gross you two aren't in Grey's Anatomy, secondly hi Auntie San, I'm doing ok. Thirdly, I basically snapped on dad because he won't let me go speak with Matt, and I told him if it wasn't for Matt giving up his rights then I wouldn't even be his daughter." Iris said the last part ashamed as she looked down at the table.
"Look at me," Santana commanded as she sat up and Iris lifted her head, "You said the most hurtful thing you ever could have said to Sam. Sam loves you with every fiber in his being, hell we all knew he was a keeper when he went and saved you when Mercedes called. He didn't run away when things got hard, he never took out his frustrations on you, and he never ever, made you feel like less of his child when your siblings came along. Hell if you ask me he loves you the most out of all three of them. What were you thinking Iris?"
"Ok, Auntie, I fucked up I know, you don't have to rub the shit in," Iris hissed quietly.
Santana cocked her head at her niece and realized what the issue is, "This isn't about Sam and Matt, this is about Polly. Isn't it?"
"I should have never given her my fucking time," Iris hissed.
"Damn it you're spending too much time with letting all these cuss words fly. Look, Polly shouldn't have ended things the way she should, but you taking your anger out on the people that love you isn't going to make it easier. Look, talk to your father, and stop acting like me."
"Thanks, Auntie."
"Your welcome, now if you excuse me, your aunt Britt is waiting for me," Santana explained. She threw away her trash and left Iris alone. Iris let out a deep sigh and went on a search for her father. She stopped at the nurse's station and asked for him and they informed her she was in surgery but he should be out in the next twenty minutes. She was about to walk off when she heard someone call her name.
"Iris," Polly called out. Iris heard the voice and walked in the other direction, but Polly's long legs were faster, she grabbed the other girl by her arm and turned her around gently.
"Can we um, can we talk?" Polly asked gently.
"Said all we needed to say when we broke up don't you think?" Iris replied as she snatched her arm away.
"Look, I'm doing what is best for us."
"Best for us or best for you Polly."
"Iris, I am sorry, ok, I can't tell you that enough, but I would think that you never ever throw away our friendship,"
"You've got to be kidding me. Everything was fine, we were achieving our goals and our dreams, and because the stakes got higher you dump me."
"I'm doing what is best for our romantic life, look we always get back with each other in the future. I love you, I never stopped." Polly whispered as she dragged her petite hands along Iris's arm. Iris snatched her arm back.
"Polly, leave me the hell alone, you are only doing what is best for us after all right?" Iris hissed as she walked away. As she walked into the familiar parts of the hospital she wasn't paying attention and bumped into her father.
"Crap, I'm sorry dad," She whispered as she swallowed the lump in her throat.
"It's ok, hey are you ok?" He asked concerned.
"Yeah, I just needed to speak with you." She answered as she blinked back the tears.
"Yeah here let's head over here," He insisted as he directed them toward his office. He shut the door behind her and took a seat at his desk while Iris stayed standing.
"Yesterday night had nothing to do with you, I am just so angry at Polly, and I keep on taking it out on everyone around me. You are my dad with or without Matt giving up his rights, you have always been there and have never given me a reason to doubt you. How you love me and mom especially when everything went down ten years ago proves that you love us, and I only said that out of anger and frustration. Please daddy please forgive me," Iris begged.
"Ris, I have already forgiven you I could never stay mad at you, and I apologize for screaming at you yesterday, I promised myself I would never do that. And I have thought it over, I thank you should go see him, but I am coming to, and I will be in the room with you, that is the only rule. As far as your first heartbreak goes, you kind of messed me up because I could have kicked Polly's ass if she was a girl, so we'll have to save for her your mother." Sam smiled gently. Iris laughed at him before walking over and enveloping him in a hug.
"I never thought she could hurt me, daddy," She whispered.
"I know baby, I know, but you are going to get through it I promise," Sam whispered as he kissed her atop her head.
