A/N: Thanks for your patience! I've been having a hard time recently, so I'm definitely working to get back on schedule.

Prompt 15: AMBUSH

Silas held up his hand cannon, squinting out at the open space around him. Crucible matches weren't usually scary, but this one… this one was starting to feel like a horror movie. Sparks scanned around them, pulsing waves outwards to look for signs of life as Silas crept along the path.

"I really don't like this," Sparks said, voice nearly trembling. "Why is she like this? Why does she have to make it scary? Just kill us already!"

And, just like that, she did.

Silas woke up on the other end of the map with a gasp, hand pressed against his helmet where he had been skewered by an arrow. "Where was that from?!"

Sparks mapped the trajectory as Silas headed back towards the spot he'd been killed before - up on top of one of the rocky pillars. Grinning, Silas handily scaled it - only to find the sniper's perch completely abandoned. There were footsteps, though, meaning that he was on the trail. He crouched low to the rock, looked around… and only briefly heard the sound of someone landing next to him before he was a corpse again.

"Fuck!" he exclaimed, ducking back behind cover the moment he was conscious again.

"Shotgun to the back of the head," Sparks noted.

Silas frowned. "Well, if I just stay here, she has to come to me, right? Then I ambush her with Stasis, and we win."

Sparks was silent, not even offering a response. Silas took that as agreement with his brilliant idea - though it was most certainly not. They had no timer, so Silas crouched in his hidey-hole and waited. True to his suspicions, it didn't take long before River was on the move. Sparks picked up movement on the radar, a red dot slowly closing in on his position. He waited to hear her footfalls before he leaped out of cover, whipping Stasis at her.

River backed up a step, but was quickly overwhelmed by Stasis crystals. "Fuck you!" she managed, the last thing she got out before the ice crystals had fully consumed her.

Silas laughed hysterically as he pulled his hand cannon out. "Finally! Point one for Silas, baby!"

As he leveled the revolver with her, he missed one crucial thing: the giant Stasis crystal had begun to sing with golden light. Sparks started to say something, but as Silas pulled the trigger it shattered. And there was River, burning with Light, her gun raised. She fired once, destroying the bullet in a spray of metal before she fired again. Silas squealed for a half-second before he was reduced to ash.

"Shithead," River muttered, shaking her head.

Over the comms, she could hear Daniels and Aurora bickering about who was next and then, as Silas revived, a continuation to the hysterical squealing and screaming he had begun before his death.
