Prompt 16: CABAL, AGAIN?
"We have Cabal moving in on Neptune," Ikora said, gesturing at the screen behind her. "According to Caiatl, they're referring to themselves as the Shadow Legion, and are loyal to her father. Calus, if you can believe it, is also moving on Neptune."
"Shocker," Daniels replied, flatly, repeatedly clicking the pen in his hands instead of taking notes.
Ikora shot him a withering look. Zavala entirely ignored the comment. "I assume you have something in motion."
"I've dispatched Hidden to Neptune to try and do some groundwork on this for us," Ikora told them. "Once I have some more information for the two of you, I'll brief you both. Until then, this stays quiet. And that includes you, Daniels. You can't even tell River."
Ikora and Zavala both fixed him with a stare.
"I'm not gonna tell River," he promised.
As soon as he and Zavala had gone their separate ways from Ikora's office, Daniels ducked into a side hallway and called River. "Hey, just got out of the meeting."
"What'd they find out?" his wife asked.
"According to Caiatl, they're calling themselves the Shadow Legion."
River groaned. "Cabal, again?"
"When isn't it Cabal?" he asked rhetorically. "Anyway, I didn't tell you that."
"My lips are sealed."
He ducked back out of the corridor, waltzing towards the Bazaar. "So I was thinking - you want to do Indian for dinner?"
River hummed in contemplation. "There's that new Thai place down in the City."
"I'll pick you up in ten," he practically sang, a bit of an extra skip in the temporary Hunter Vanguard's step as he headed home.
