Let the drama continue
Georgetown Memorial Hospital
E.R Entrance
Georgetown Va
A.J pulled up to the ER entrance so that Mac could get out and head inside. He told her he'd meet her inside once he'd parked. Wasting no time, Mac raced into the ER heading straight to the nurse's station.
"Excuse me"
"Just a moment ma'am."
Mac stood there shaking. "Please can you help me?"
"Just a moment."
Growing impatient, Mac slammed her hand on the desk, this gained the nurse's attention. She tried to contain her emotions, but she just couldn't. Everything just came blowing out of her. About that time A.J came running into the E.R.
He went straight over to Mac, "Mac are you okay?"
(Sobbing) "No Sir, no one will help me find Harm."
Hearing this he turned his full attention to the nurse at the desk, "Ma'am this woman here is looking for her husband, we were called and informed he'd been brought here, after being involved in a car accident."
This new information gained her full attention, "What's his name, we have a few people here from that accident."
"Commander Harmon Rabbjr."
The nurse went over to the computer, searching for Harm, having located him, she picked up the phone on the desk, "Mrs. Rabb is here, I'm sending her back to the waiting area."
"Mrs. Rabb if you will please come with me."
"Is it okay for Admiral Chegwidden to accompany me?"
"Is he family?"
"Yes," Mac said as looked toward the Admiral.
"It's fine if you both will follow me."
Mac and The Admiral both followed the young nurse to a small room inside the ER, "Please take a seat, the doctor will be in shortly."
She closed the door as she walked out. Mac just sat there stoned-faced. Something about this seemed off to her. Why wouldn't they just let them go see Harm? Something wasn't right.
"Sir something isn't right about this."
"I agree with you, Mac."
Before either one could say any more the door opened and a doctor and nurse walked in. The doctor made his way over to Mac."Are you Mrs. Rabb?"
"Yes I am, is Harm..."
"First let me tell you, your husband is in stable but critical condition, his injuries are minor, however, he's in a coma, we believe this is due to him hitting his head. We've taken him up to have a CAT-SCAN run, this is why we had you brought in here. As soon as he's back down here, you'll be taken back to see him. Don't be alarmed when you see him, he's pretty bunged up."
"Is there anything else we should know?"
"And you are Sir?"
"Admiral A.J Chegwidden, a family friend."
"Nothing at this time, as soon as we know more, we'll let you know."
She just sat there, listening. How could this have happened, everything was supposed to be perfect, he was supposed to come home to her, he promised her. She watched as the doctor and nurse left out.
She stood and started to pace the room, The Admiral just watched her. He could tell she was very on edge. "Mac do you want to talk about it?"
Wringing her hands, and taking a long deep breath. She tried to pull herself together. Deciding to be a tough marine."Sir, I'm okay."
"I know better than that."
She was trying to hold it together. She had to be brave. She could break down once again. "We should probably let his mom and stepfather know."
"Agreed I'll have Tiner get their number..."
"There's no need Sir, I have it, Harm gave it to me a while ago, just in case of an emergency."
"Do you want to call them? Or do you want me to?"
At this moment Mac had a decision to make, but before she could the door opened, and the same nurse from earlier came in. "Mrs.Rabb; your husband is back in his room. If you'll follow me I'll take you back now."
"Okay." Mac turned to leave but not before stopping in front of the Admiral, "You call them Sir." She said as she handed him her cell phone.
Harm's Room
( Harm dreaming )
He stood in the window of his wife's hospital room, he kept glancing down at his little son, his son, the fulfillment of a deal that they'd made on the steps of JAG. He smiled as the little one opened one eye.
"You know, I almost lost the chance to meet you, your daddy isn't the brightest guy sometimes, thank god your mommy loves me. Although sometimes I wonder why god knows I've given her enough reasons to kick my six-to curve enough. Still, she's stuck by me. Well except this one time, when daddy stuck his foot in his mouth. I'll tell you about it when you're older."
"Tell him about what?"
Hearing his wife's voice, he turned from the window, and made his way over to her bed, taking a seat next to her. She gracefully rubbed her hand over the baby's jet-black hair.
"I do believe he's going to look like you."
"Let's hope not, besides didn't you once say, one Harmon Rabb in your life is enough."
"Touché, I did say that. I'm revising that statement, I'll take two of you. Now about what you were telling him?"
"Just daddy-son bonding."
"Oh I see, mommy doesn't get to know?"
"Mommy already knows."
"I do?"
"I was telling him how not to be like me."
"I see, so you don't want him to be just like you?"
"Not in the sense of shutting out the people I love, and pushing them away."
Mac reached for his hand, "We made it sailor, and this little sailor is the proof of that."
"Indeed he is, you know he needs a name!"
Mac looked over at her son, "I'm thinking Harmon Thomas."
"Why?"
"After your dad, and Tom Boone, we could call him Tommy."
"You're sure? I thought you might want to name him after your uncle Matt."
"The next one we can."
"The next one?"
"Yes, I'm expecting more than one child from you."
Harm raised his eyes brows; "Oh really!"
"Yes, I've decided that we need at least 3."
"3?"
"2 boys and a little girl."
"Well, ma'am I aim to please." He said leaning over to kiss his wife. "I love you, Sarah."
Harm's Room.
Mac sat on the bed holding his hand, she was stroking his battered and bruised face, as hard as she tried she couldn't keep her tears at bay. Why had this happened, why couldn't fate have just let him come back to her in one piece? Why had it tried to take him away from her?
Was this her payback for all the wrong she'd done in her life? Was taking away the one man she truly loved the ultimate price for all her sins? If so she'd be glad to trade places with him.
She looked up when she heard the door open, a small smile graced her face when she saw Admiral Chegwidden."How's he doing Mac?"
"No change Sir, they tell me, his wounds are minor, except for the concussion, that his brain needs to heal itself from that, that's why he's slipped into a coma."
"Do they have any idea how long that will be?"
"No Sir, just that it might be hours, days, or weeks." Mac started sobbing, "Sir this is all my fault, he was rushing back to me. Sir, I will never be able to..."
"I love you, Sarah"
Mac stopped talking when she heard Harm's voice. Scooting closer to him, she stroked his face. "Harm can you hear me? If you can hear open your eyes."
"I'll go grab a nurse!"
"Thank you, Sir. Harm open your eyes, please open your eyes."
His eyelids started to flutter, but they didn't open up, instead, he just kept mumbling "I love you Sarah" over and over again.
Mac kept a death grip on his hand while stroking his face. "Harm I know you can hear, or at least feel me. Please open your eyes. I need to see them. Please Harm don't leave me..."
Admiral Chegwidden returned with a nurse, she went about checking over Harm's vitals. She went and opened his eye to check his pupils, and she then made a note in his chart.
Mac watched everything going on, and once the nurse was done, she replaced his chart. "I don't see any real change in him. His pupils are still unresponsive."
"His eyelids fluttered, he was talking."
"That's a normal reaction for a comatose patient, they tend to react to a certain touch or a certain voice. Just keep doing what you're doing. Given time he'll come around."
Admiral Chegwidden smiled as the nurse walked out. Mac watched her, "Sir we both saw him."
"I know we did, Mac we're just going to have to give him time."
"How much Sir?"
"All that he needs."
Harm's Mind
Manly Beach
Sydney Australia
"Sir is that Col MacKenzie topless?"
Harm stood up off the bench, he caught sight of Mac and Brumby on the beach. A sudden feeling of jealousy overtook him, he took off across that beach like a madman on a mission, Bud was hot on his heels, trying to keep up with him.
Mac looked up when she saw a shadow, that looked vaguely familiar. "Harm what brings you over here?"
"You Col?"
"Oh I see, I happened to run into Mic at the airport, and he thought I might like the beach."
"I see." He said as he was trying to look around that obnoxious oversized magazine.
Mac just giggled, knowing that she was getting to him. About that time Bud had made his way over. He was trying to look anywhere except at Mac.
"Oh hi Bud, Harriet sent this for you." Mac pulled out a stack of photos handing them to Bud. As Harm kept looking at Mac.
Finally, he couldn't take it anymore, he reached down and jerked her up, tossing her over his shoulder, and whisking her off the beach.
Mic and Bud took off after him. But they were no match for a 6'4 well built Naval aviator, carrying one very pissed off US Marine.
Harm never stopped till the was sure he'd lost Mic and Bud. Only then he sat Mac on the ground, braising for her wrath. But to his shock, all she did was wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him.
After a few moments, they broke apart. "Took ya long enough sailor."
"I guess I just needed a wake-up call."
"Well, I gave ya one."
"How about you give me another one."
"I can do that." With that she wrapped her arms back around his neck again, placing a long passion-filled kiss on his lips.
Breaking apart once more, they looked into each other's eyes. "That's a hell of a wake-up call."
Harm's Room
Mac still sat on the bed next to Harm, she kept talking to him. Begging him to wake up. "Harm if you can hear me please open your eyes. Please Harm." Taking a chance she placed a light kiss on his lips.
She was beyond shocked when he responded to her. He reached up grabbed her and pulled her down on him, deepening the kiss, Mac broke the kiss, and was stunned to be looking into the ocean-blue eyes of her husband.
"I just needed a wake-up call."
