Rise Of The Snow Queen 2 Chapter 9
Galatea has much to contemplate on recently. As if worrying about her twin wasn't already more than enough for her to be concerned over.
Given the fact basically anyone can do at this point is wait since Loki won't disclose the location of the Tesseract. So many are left to their assigned tasks in their efforts to discover where it is hidden or do their absolute best to uncover those who Loki has used sorcery in order to persuade into joining him. So far no luck on either.
So Galatea is left wandering around the helicarrier, lost in her own thoughts. The majority of those onboard have relatively chosen to stay out of her way, having heard talk about the abilities she possesses along with the information that she is royalty.
It's during this time when she is left alone when she overhears a conversation between Banner and Stark as they are in the lab doing various tests on Loki's scepter. Neither of them is aware she's listening, and no one is passing by so she's able to eavesdrop as much as she pleases on them.
What she overhears really hits Galatea to the core.
Especially when Bruce goes on and on about what he considers to be a beast inside him. One he did not choose to play host to and has struggled to control repeatedly over the years. He has a much better handle on it now yet it still proves to be a major struggle for him daily. It even prevents him from getting close to people and forming relationship bonds from fear of accidentally hurting someone.
Sound familiar?
Against her will, it's made Galatea feel quite a bit of empathy for Bruce and his constant ongoing situation. While their situations are entirely different they've both had to overcome very traumatic and tragic experiences in their lives.
So when Stark briefly steps away Galatea decides to have a little chat with him. Only Stark is out of earshot does she step into the room announcing her presence to him.
"Hey," said Bruce, momentarily removing his eyes from the data analyst on a nearby screen to glance towards her.
"Hello," said Galatea, greeting him back.
"If you're her to inquire about any progress we've made here then I'm sorry to disappoint you. Whatever magic Loki has surrounded this thing is off the charts and completely out of my expertise. Now if you have anything to add to this, Your Majesty, it would be much appreciated," said Bruce.
Shaking her head, Galatea said "I'm sorry to say I wouldn't be much assistance to you about this. My magic is a completely different variety."
To better demonstrate this to him Galatea formed and swirled snowflakes over her upturned palm.
Nodding and chuckling lightly, Bruce said "Right."
Slowly rounding the table holding the scepter so that she is face to face with him, now gently broaching the sensitive subject she's come here to speak to him about, Galatea said "Truthfully I've come in here to speak to you about something else."
"What is it," asked Bruce.
Apologetically, Galatea said "I didn't mean to invade your privacy, but I overheard your conversation with Stark."
This catches his interest. Causing him to stop his work, straightening his posture as he removes his spectacles.
Softly, Galatea said "You have my sympathies for what you've had to go through. Trust me on this. I know we only just met, but I understand you a lot more than you would think."
Arms crossed, Bruce said "How so?"
Inhaling deeply and then exhaling slowly, Galatea admits "I'm not Asgardian like Thor. I may have been raised and grown up there. But it isn't the place I originate from. Loki and I were born in Jotunheim, Realm of the Frost Giants. We were found there abandoned and exposed to the elements as newborn babies. Taken in by King Odin. As soon as my powers first manifested, I couldn't control them. My parents had me locked away, isolated from everyone else including my own twin. For centuries I was misled to believe I was cursed. Where in reality it was simply my own bloodline granting me these special gifts. I merely learned to control them recently once the truth became fully known."
"Wow," said Bruce, quietly, stunned as he rubs his eyes tiredly at this revelation. "What are you trying to get at with this?"
"What I'm saying is that you're not as alone as you believe you are," said Galatea, smiling. "Something to think about. I'll leave you to your work now. Didn't mean to disturb anything. Good luck."
Galatea then departs.
Banner watches her go, leaving him with plenty more to stew over than what he had before she entered.
