It had been 1 month since Jay had gone to Bolivia for the better part of a year and Hailey still wasn't used to being alone in their apartment she hated it hated falling asleep without him and waking up and his blue eyes or the smell of coffee he had made for her before heading to the district to catch up some paperwork or out for a run she knew that this was what he needed after everything that had happened the past little while at work she tried to avoid her Boss at all costs he was the reason Jay had left her he was the reason that he was suffering the more she thought about it the more she realised how many people had suffered and paid consequences because of her so-called boss Jay, Kim, Adam, Anna, Al, Antonio and who knew how many others at one time she had looked up to her boss and would have followed him loyally even when she didn't always agree with his methods or choices but now she saw the situation for what it really was Voight claimed to care about the members of intelligence but had no problems dragging them Voights right hands and look where that got them Antonio had gotten addicted to drugs and left intellgince to go to Port Rico with his sister Gabby who Hailey has kept intouch with and Al had taken the fall for Voight for and old case and had been killed in prison by someone seeking revenge on her boss, Voight had multiple oppurtonitieds to change and do things the right way and chose not to everytime Hailey knew that he would never change.
Hailey had just gotten home when she heard her phone buzz with a facetime request, the army had allowed Jay to have one monthly Facetime call, she pressed accept and immediately her phone filled with Jay's face already Hailey could see Jay's hair has gotten a little longer and he had a bit more stubble, "Hi" he beamed "Hey" she replied equally enthusiastic her eyes starting to fill with tears "Hey Hey no don't cry you know I can't stand to see you sad" Jay said "I'm sorry I just miss you" she said her voice a little watery and shaky I know jay replied with a sad expression "But I'll be back before you know it and then we can start our lives off right this time" he says with a reassuring smile I don't know about the whole first part you've been gone a month and it feels like you've been gone for months Hailey replies with a sigh but I can't wait for us to start our lives again together on the other end of the call Jay smiles one that always makes Haileys heart flutter when directed at her even before they got together he then frowns slightly when he notice the slight discoloration of her left cheek what happen to your cheek nothing its nothing she tried Hailey Jay began she sighed knowing that she could never lie to him he always saw right through her is that a bruise he asked yes she replied what happened he asked again growing more concerned worried he hadnt been there to stop it he knew she was more the capable for fending for herself but also knowing that these kind of injuries reminded her of her childhood Did it happen on a case he asked growing concerned Hailey sighed again No she said in a whisper then who gave it to you? He asked Hailey she closed her eyes and sighed deeply before whispering Voight she said quietly so jay could hardly hear her what he said in disbelief Hailey took a deep breath before continuing a few days ago he called me into his office after work she flashed back too a few days ago Alright Voight said coming out of his office Intelligence had been working a robbery-homicide case at a bank the case not to different to the one years prior Its enough for tonight go home he said Oh Hailey can I talk to you for a second Voight added sighing as she saw everyone else getting ready to leave she got up and walked to her bosses office closing the door behind her after entering You wanted to see me, Sir she started Yes Voight said I know how hard it has been for you the past month since Jay left but we need to talk about your behaviour since then you've been not listening to me and going off the book I've given you leeway because I recognize that you're in a hard place right now but I can't keep doing this you need to accept the fact Jays gone and that he made his own choices he said Hailey saw red He was the reason that Jay wasnt here with her he was the reason he wouldnt see her husband for almost a year, No you made him make that choice you are the reason hes gone as usual you took him down with you and made him into a version of you hes loyal to you and was doing all this to protect you I was hoping that you'd finally change after you got Roy killed and robbed Kim of getting justice but I know now you'll never change, you do nothing but drag people down and make them suffer your the reason Al and Anna are dead its all on you She said through gritted teeth You better watch what you say Voight said getting visibly angry The only reason I'm still in intelligence is to gather evidence on you and hopefully take you down once and for all, Everything happened so quickly that she didnt have any time to react before Voight was out from behind his desk and had grabbed Haileys wrist After everything I've done for you this is how you repay me he said seething Let go your hurting me Hailey said Voight kept his grip on her wrist starting to panic as memories form her childhood came flooding back Hailey wrenched her wrist out of his grip while doing she was knocked of center and tripped into the door frame before getting to her feet and getting out of the office she briefly saw Voights shocked and horrified expression. Hailey looked at Jay's horrified and angry expression I'm going to kill him he said I never should have left his dad had always told him to protect the ones he loved and he had failed Hailey in the past and he had failed her again now As always Hailey seemed to know what Jay was thinking Jay she said desperately you didn't fail me in the past or now she said please don't do anything that could put all the progress you've accomplished I can already see your doing better than you were before you left I can fend for myself he's not worth your time anymore she bagged but he hurt you Hailey Jay said in a low voice I know but it was an accident he's not like my dad at least not that way she said Jay knew he was right he knew that for all of his former bosses faults he would never raise a hand to anyone Ok he said off-screen Hailey could hear someone say something to Jay he sighed Hey I don't want to but I have to go Jay said I love you and I'll talk to you again soon Love you to Hailey replied before the call was ended and she was alone again she sighed eating the Bartolis Pizza she had picked up after work after she was finished she got up and turned off the lights on her way to the bedroom to get ready for bed.
