A/N - Okay, this chapter will cover his first year with Anko and the experiences they have with each other. To keep the story from being a dark emo Fic, I will try to keep this chapter focus on the bright aspects. I hope you all enjoy.
Seeing the people form around him with multiple swords and knives, Naruto could only walk backwards. Seeing the glares of hatred from the people of Konoha had forced Naruto to drop to his knees from the massive killing intent. To make things, the person leading the group was his own mother, Anko Mitarashi.
"Mommy? Why are you doing this?" Naruto asked as the tears ran down his face.
"Don't call me that you demon!" Anko roared as she charged at him with a kunai in her left hand.
Naruto woke up screaming which startled Anko as she was over in the cooking area. She noticed a slight burst of crimson chakra before it vanished like it was never there. Naruto had been crying his eyes out from the nightmare he had. When Anko tried to comfort who newly adopted son, Naruto backed away.
"Naruto? what's wrong?" Anko asked as she got to her knees while speaking in a soft tone.
"You were being everyone else." Naruto said through his tears. As he cried harder, Anko's heart could only sink. "You tried to kill me and told me I was demon." Naruto cried out.
Anko wrapped her son in a tight hug. "Naruto, I would never do such a thing to you. You had a bad dream." Anko explained.
Naruto came to slight vault though his tears kept falling. "What's that?" Naruto asked.
Anko gave a sad smile. "Bad dreams are like watching scary movies. Our brains project certain scenarios and images in our mind while we're asleep. Sometimes they are really scary." Anko said.
"Do you ever have bad dreams?" Naruto asked as he looked at his purple haired mother.
"Yes, I have bad dreams. Most people do. Even the legendary Hokage of Konoha has bad dreams." Anko explained. She picked Naruto up as they went toward the kitchen area where Anko sat Naruto at the table. "I'm going to make us some breakfast." Anko said.
Naruto nodded as he held his stuff snake that he kept tightly around his neck for comfort. As he watched his mother cook, Naruto noticed a black liquid she was drinking. "What are you drinking? Can I have some?" Naruto asked.
Anko thought about it for a moment. "I mean, I'm sure if won't hurt." Anko thought as she waved for Naruto to walk over.
The blond ran over and took a sip of the hot coffee. "This is nasty!" Naruto shouted as he made an exaggerated face that he was dying.
Anko chuckled at her son's antics as she finished cooking up eggs, toast, and bacon. While she preferred to eat Sake and Dango, she figured that a child needs to eat healthier things. When she sat down the plates along with pouring Naruto a glass of milk, he surprised her by chowing down all his food.
"Dang Gaki, don't you ever breath?" Anko asked as she placed a piece of bacon in her mouth.
"I needed to be sure that you wouldn't take a few pieces from me." Naruto said which made Anko frown.
After the two finished breakfast, Anko and Naruto got dressed for the day. Anko put on her regular fish netted outfit with her shin guards and tan trench coat. She also put her hair in a bun that made her hair look like a pineapple which made Naruto laugh. Naruto put on a black shirt underneath an orange jacket and green cargo shorts. While Anko hated the color orange, Naruto begged for the orange jacket which made the purple haired woman give in.
"Why are you laughing?" Anko asked while raising an eyebrow..
Naruto had fallen over. "You look like a pineapple with your hair!" Naruto said while pointing and letting out a burst of laughter.
"I don't look like a pineapple!" Anko growled and started to chase her son who was running around the studio apartment.
After a few moments of their antics, Naruto and Anko left the apartment and proceeded to the Torture and a interrogation building where Anko worked. Naruto had asked all about it and though Anko loved her work, she knew that Naruto was a child and gave him a childlike version.
"When we have bad people, we take them to the T building. After a long talk and we understand why they committed the crime, we sent them to a very bad place called prison." Anko explained.
"Did the people that hurt me go to prison?" Naruto asked as he looked up.
Anko nodded. "Yes, those people will never hurt you again. Now come on, I've got a few people I want you to meet." Anko said as she held Naruto's hand and they entered the building.
When Naruto entered, he was shocked to see such a small room. However, he soon learned that after releasing a thing called chakra, a passage way opened up and they were walking down the hall. In the main office area, Naruto saw a man in a trench coat similar to Anko's but it was black instead of tan. He had a black cap on that shared the symbol of the leaf.
"Good morning Anko, you're on time for once." The man said with an amused smirk.
Anko let out a sheepish chuckle as she rubbed the back of her head. "Anyway, Naruto, this Ibiki Morino. He's my boss and the head of the T division of Konoha's Anbu." Anko explained.
"Woah, he's the big guy?" Naruto asked as he looked at the tall man.
"That's right. Though, don't worry. He may seem scary but deep down, he's a big teddy bear." Anko said while smirking at Ibiki who's eye revealed a small twitch.
After the small meeting, Anko took Naruto down to the personal area he would have while she was working. "Can't I see you work?" Naruto asked.
As much as Anko would love to teach her son the secrets and skills of her trade, she knew that he was too young. "I tell you what, when you get a bit older, I'll show you everything." Anko said.
Naruto pouted but let it go and entered the room. Naruto's eyes opened wide as he saw the room. It had multiple toys, a comfortable couch, along with a massive T.V. Naruto jumped up and down as he hugged his mother for letting him play.
"Knock yourself out Gaki. I'll be back in a little bit to check on you." Anko said as she walked off but was stopped by Naruto. "What's up?" Anko asked with her hands inside her pocket.
Naruto walked up to her and gave her waste a tight hug. "Thanks mommy. You're the best mom in the entire world." Naruto said before he ran back into the room.
Anko was the popular sadistic female Shinobi of Konoha and wouldn't think twice about killing anyone that crossed her path. She rarely showed emotions. Even Ibiki had been a victim of her mask. However, Anko had to use all of her Might to prevent the tears from coming out after hearing Naruto's kind words.
After awhile, Anko proceeded to her work area where she would begin her torturing and interrogating process with a new criminal who was found guilty of treason. Along the way, she ran into Inoichi Yamanaka. While the two weren't considered friends, they both had massive respect for the dedication and skill level they had for their work.
"Anko." Inoichi said with a slight nod. Anko gave a half wave with her middle and index finger together as the passes the man up.
A few hours passed and while Anko was completely bored out of her mind, she decided to go check up on her Gaki. While she didn't like him being alone, she knew the T building was more secure then even the Hokage's office. When she entered the room, she smiled at seeing Naruro's attention being placed in a book.
"Yo Gaki. What are you reading?" Anko asked as she walked over. To her surprise and slight annoyance, Naruto ignored her. "Hey Gaki!" Anko shouted which made Naruto jump up.
"Oh hi mom! I'm sorry, I got caught reading this books. Do you think you could buy some for me?" Naruto asked.
Anko's eyes darted to the cover and a massive killing intent leaked from her. She walked over and gave a bright smile. "Naru, where did you get that book?" Anko asked as she crouched down.
"Oh this? I found it behind the other books in here." Naruto said innocently.
"Please give me the book" Anko said with her hand being stuck out.
"Why? Do you want to read it? Do you think Incould finish it first?" Naruto asked.
Anko shook her head. "Nope, hand it over." Anko said and Naruto handed it back to her. Seeing that the owner's name was inside the front cover, Anko had asked Naruto to follow her.
The two arrived in Ibiki's office where he eyed the boy and then Ank with confusion. "Mom, why are we here with Scarface?" Naruto asked.
This made Anko and a few Anbu chuckle at Naruro's name for the Ibiki. He glared at the boy while his left eye gave a twitch. "Anko, is there a reason your son is here with us?" Ibiki asked.
"Yeah. I've got to pay a certain pervert a visit for trying to corrupt my son." Anko said before she vanished in a shun shin.
While Anko was gone, Naruto sat in the chair across from Ibiki's desk while remaining silent. Though he didn't feel anything malicious from the man, he got an uneasy feeling from him.
"So, Anko is your mother huh?" Ibiki asked awkwardly to break the silence. Naruto gave a nod while looking to the floor. "Are you afraid of me?" Ibiki asked the blond in front of him.
Naruto shook his head though Ibiki knew he felt otherwise. "Tell me Naruto, what are your dreams for the future?" Ibiki asked Naruto while leaning back in his chair.
"I'm not sure." Naruto said. Ibiki gave him a nod and informed him that it's normal for kids to not know for sure.
"Do you want to be a ninja when you get older?" Ibiki asked and wasn't too shocked to when Naruto shook his head. "Why not?" Ibiki asked.
"Ninjas kill. I don't like violence and I don't want to kill." Naruto declared.
This made Ibiki smirk on the inside while he reviewed an expressionless face. "That's true. Ninja are tasked to kill. However, we aren't monsters who kill for pleasure." Ibiki said.
"I know. You only kill to protect someone, yourself, or the village." Naruto pointed out.
Ibiki nodded. "That's right. We only do it to keep our home safe." Ibiki said.
"How do you do if? How are you able to kill without feeling bad about it?" Naruto asked the man while showing interest in the conversatio. This didn't go unnoticed by Ibiki.
"You always feel bad about it. To take another life is something that most people can't swallow. However, it's our duty to do what must be done. The day you no longer feel remorse about your kills, is the day that you're no longer human." Ibiki said.
Out somewhere in the village, an unlucky white haired man with only one eye visible was fearing for his life. Having multiple pythons with their fangs ready to release a painful venom on standby, Anko had begun her interrogation process.
"So Kakashi, been to the T building recently?" Anko asked with her sadistic smirk.
"I might have passed by the other day." Kakashi said in an uncaring tone.
"I see. Would you like to tell me why my son found one of your books?" Anko asked as she drew the orange colored, Make-Out paradise book.
"So that's where it was. I've been looking for it." Kakashi said while giving a slight chuckle.
Anko was glaring daggers though she called off her snakes. Before Kakashi could leave, Anko came up with a kunai by his precious jewels while she whispered softly in his ears. "If I find my son reading such trash again, I'll make sure the only pleasures you have are a memory of the past." Anko threatened.
This made Kakashi tense up. "You know, I think my home would be a better spot for my book." Kakashi said. Anko back away and the masked man shun shinned away.
When Anko returned, she noticed that Naruto and Shikaku were playing a game of shogi. Curious about why he was playing a strategy game against the village's number one genius, Anko glared at Ibiki.
"Why is Naruto playing shogi against Shikaku?" Anko asked.
"We played a small game and he somehow won. I figured it was a fluke but he beat me twice in a row. I even had Inoichi play a game while using his clan jutsu. He failed to defeat the boy. I wanted to see how Naruto stacked up against our village's genius." Ibiki explained.
"Uncle Scarface, didn't you say it was rude to talk about someone in the third person while they are present?" Naruto asked as he simply moved one of his pieces. This caught Shikaku off guard since his move made no sense.
"Focus on the game brat." Ibiki said while giving a smirk. "Anko, I think you have a little genius on your hands." Ibiki said.
"What do you mean?" Anko asked her boss.
"We had a small discussion. During our talk, I gave him a variety of tests and he passed perfectly. I think he might make a fine member of Konoha." Ibiki said.
The day came to an end and though Shikaku defeated Naruto, he was in disbelief with how close the game was. The two Mitarashi due left and had gone home where they would enjoy a delicious bowl of Dango with ramen.
"Mom." Naruto called out.
Turning around from the stove, she looked at her son. "Yeah?" Anko asked.
"Why did you choose to become a ninja?" Naruto asked his mother with pure curiosity.
"I don't know. I mean, during my time at the academy, we were still involved in the Third Great Shinobi World War. So I guess I wanted to fight and protect the village." Anko explained. Naruto nodded at his mother. "Why do you ask? Do you want to become a ninja?" Anko's expression revealed she was shocked at his answer.
"No. I have no interest in killing or even fighting." Naruto explained.
While Anko assumed that Naruto would want to be a Shinobi, she decided to use this as an opportunity to build her and Naruro's relationship. "Do you have an idea of what you would like to do?" Anko asked her son.
"I was talking with Uncle Scarface, and I noticed a few things we talked about had caught my attention. Gardening, cooking, weapons, and the Fuinjutsu. He explained that Incould become a seal master without being an actual Ninja if I studied and worked really hard." Naruto pointed out.
"I see. You know, I thought you would like to be a Shinobi." Anko admitted.
Naruto looked at her with a sad expression. "I mean, if you want me to become one, I don't mind. I could always open up a shop once I retire." Naruto said.
Anko let out a chuckle. "No way. You know, most parents, they try to force or steer their kids down a path they have decided. Naruto, no matter what it is you want, I will never turn you away and will give you my fullest support. From here on out, I want the two of us to make a promise that we won't ever keep anything hidden from the others and always remain open." Anko said.
Naruto smile and walked to his mother before giving her a massive hug. "I promise mom!" Naruto declared.
This warmed Anko's heart. She had finished cooking their Dango and ramen. The two chowed down and over dinner, Narutk explained that he wanted to open a weapon shop where he can create his own weapons but also offer classes on sealing. This intrigued Anko because she believed that the village could use more people that were capable of learning Fuinjutsu.
Over the next few months, it was the same routine with Naruto and Anko. They would wake up and have breakfast together, though, Anko usually had to wake her son up. After, they would get dressed and head to the T department. Instead of going to the playroom, Naruto would go to Ibiki and Anko's office where he would listen to their conversations and learn about the different things in the village. WhT shocked znaruto the most was that he didn't need to be a ninja to be someone important.
The three would go and get lunch together. If someone was bold enough to try and refuse service, they learned that Anko and Ibiki truly lived up to their names. While most kids would be afraid, Naruto get happy that he had people that cared about him. After lunch, the trio would return and Naruto would remain in the room with Shikaku while Inoichi, Anko, and Ibiki did their jobs.
After work, Anko would take Naruto out for Dango or ramen while she would cook on the days they went home. She learned quickly that Naruto hated veggies and nothing could persuade him otherwise. While things seemed perfect, Naruto, of course was still a four year old child and Anko learned quickly that she needed to be a mother and remind Naruto who was sun charge.
It had been a Sunday morning and since Anko was given the day off, she decided that she would sleep in along with Naruto. Having woken up first, Naruto decided he would let his mother sleep in. Going over to the fridge where he made himself something to drink. Naruto noticed a bit of milk but also a bottle that he saw his mother drank during dinner and sometimes during lunch. He took the bottle and grabbed one of his cups. He began pouring the Sake into his cup and though Anko was in a deep sleep, she always kept her senses on high alert and had woken up.
While Naruto began sipping from the bottle of Sake, he commented how good it was. When Anko walked over to see what he was doing, Naruto greeted his mother with a bright smile and declare show delicious sake was. Anko looked at him and asked for the bottle and his cup. Not thinking anything of it, Naruto handed it over but saw she poured out his cup and put the bottle away.
"Why did you do that?" Naruto asked as he was getting annoyed.
Anko turned to face her son and crossed her arms with a blank expression. "Naruto, you're four years old. You can drink milk or water, but I won't have you drinking sake. Especially at ten thirty in the morning." Anko said in a stern tone.
"I want sake though! It's really good. Come on!" Naruto said as he was getting frustrated.
Having read in one of her parenting books that children often throw tantrums to get their way and the importance of standing your ground. "Naruto, I said no." Anko said while looking at him with a serious expression.
Deciding that he wanted the sake and would get it at all cost, Narutk walked passed his mother and grabbed the same. Anko glared at him with daggers. "Naruto Mitarashi! If you dare take a single sip, you're going to be in a world of trouble." Anko threaded.
Naruto smirked. "Bite me." He said as he chuffed more of the sake.
Anko's eye was twitching. Having lost all of her patience by her son's antics had caused her to snap. She walked over to Naruto who was smiling with a foxy grin. "See, I told you I'd have some."
What happened next shocked Naruto and even Anko herself. She gave Naruto a slap across his face. Naruto looked at his mother with wide eyes as he rubbed his cheek. "You hit me..." Naruto said as he took a few steps back.
"You're damn right I did! I'll do it again if you don't listen!" Anko shouted while leaking a hit of killing intent.
Naruto's eyes filled with tears as he started crying and ran to the bathroom. He slammed the door as he started crying as loud as he possibly could. "I need some medicine." Anko said while walking over to the medicine cabinet. Anko remained standing while leaning against the counter. She was remembering everything her parenting books said about situs such as this.
"A child will try to assert dominance. As the parent, you need to always maintain control. When children do not get their way, they often cry out as a way to express their emotions. Once a child has calmed down, speak with them about what they did wrong. Always apologize for any yelling or hitting that you may have done. This will insure that your child understands you don't hate them and the problem can be resolved."
Deciding to knock on the door of the bathroom, Anko wanted to talk to her son. "Go away!" Naruto yelled as he was still crying. Taking a deep breath, Anko drew her kunai and picked the lock. She then grabbed her son. "Let me down you big meany! You hit me! You are just like the villagers!" Naruto shouted but stopped when he was placed on the desk.
Angel looked at him with a serious and stern expression while her arms were crossed. Naruto was growling at her to show her that he wasn't scared of her or whatever punishments she had.
"Do you know why I slapped you?" Anko asked. This question caught Naruto off guard though he declared that it was because she hates himself. Anko let out a sigh before giving him a hug. "Naruto, I don't hate you. I would never hate you. I slapped you because you weren't listening and went against what I told you." Anko said.
Naruto looked down with shame and guilt for acting like a jackass. "How would you feel if you told me not to eat your ramen and Dango, and I did it anyway? You wouldn't like that, now would you?" Anko asked.
Naruto closed his eyes as he shook his head. A tear fell down his cheek but not from being hit, from feeling really bad. "I'm sorry mom. I won't disobey you again." Naruto said.
Anko hugged her son tightly. "I'm sorry I slapped you. I love you Naruto." Anko said.
"I love you too mom." Naruto responded.
After the two finished their apologies, they had decided to go out and explore the village. From that moment in, Naruto always listened though sometimes he would slip up and of course, Anko would have to discipline him. However, she never once struck him again and had found other ways of punishment. Viewing through his crystal ball, Hiruzen Sarutobi could only smile with joy at Naruto and Anko's life having each other. He truly believed that this is what they deserved and would do whatever it took to keep this bond from being ruined.
End notes
- I wanted to make a feel good chapter that showed how it was with Naruto and Anko. Maybe the drinking of Sake was a bit much along with the way she handled it, but I wanted to make it have some real world elements.
- Naruto is indeed a genius though he isn't on some god level. He is simply a prodigy at his age similarly to Shisui and Itachi Uchiha.
- Naruto will become a Shinobi after a few events take place in his life that change forever.
I hope you guys enjoyed this story. I will be trying to upload decent material at a good pace. Thank you all for the support and I hope you all look forward to the next chapter.
