A/N - So we will be going over Naruto's 5th birthday. I know the story is going slow but I promise, it's going to eventually speed up and things will be much more enjoyable.
It was the day that Naruto had been waiting for, October tenth, his fifth birthday. Naruto started jumping on the bed as he was shouting with excitement. While she rolled over and smiled at her son, Anko wished Naruto a happy birthday.
"Happy birthday Naruto." Anko said with a warm smile.
Naruto smiled brightly at his mother. "I'm super excited! When will everyone be here?" Naruto asked as he kept jumping.
Anko could only chuckle at her son's excitement. "It's going to be awhile. I have to get everything set up. However, I do have something that will make you really happy." Anko said.
Naruto's eyes lit up with excitement as he continued jumping on the bed with excitement. It wasn't until Anko told him to settle down that he patiently waited for the surprise Anko had.
"Today, you're going to take a trip with me out to a special friends of mine shop. You see, he creates weapons but is planning to go into retirement in the next few years. He agreed to teach you the basics of weapon forging along with running a shop." Anko explained.
Before she could prepare herself, Naruto charged at her with a hug and tears of happiness running down his face. "Mom! You're the best ever! I can't believe you did that for me!" Naruto shouted.
Once she caught her breath, Anko ruffled her son's hair and ordered him to get dressed so they can go. Naruto quickly brushed his teeth and put on a pair of orange shorts with a blue T shirt. He wore blue sandals and since wit was chilly, he put an orange jacket over his outfit. Anko had purchased it for him since he gave his now famous, puppy dog eyes that got Anko every time.
They exited the apartment and begun walking in the direction of the shop. Though Naruto ignored them, many of the villagers and shinobi gave the two of them glares of hatred. While Anko flared back, she noticed that Naruto was ignorant to the looks which she was grateful for.
As they made it across the village, they entered a weapons shop called Konoha's Flaming Metal. Entering the building, an older gentleman was cleaning one of the swords on the counter.
"Hello, can I help you?" Asked the older man.
"Why, yes. You can show my little birthday boy how to forge these impressive metals." Anko said with a wink.
The man blinked a few times before letting out a chuckle. "Anko! How could I forget the beautiful and sexy Anko Mitarashi?" The older man said in a joking tone
Anko let out a chuckle and a foxy grin. "I guess it must be your old heart not keeping up. Haha!" Anko laughed before She picked Naruto up. "Naruto, this is a good friend of mine. His name is Mr.Ryuga." Anko said.
Naruto stuck his hand out and shook the elderly man's hand. "Hello Mr.Ryuga. My name is Naruto Mitarashi." Naruto said in a respectful tone.
"Well, hello there Mr.Naruto. What can do for you today?" Ryuga asked the boy with a cheerful tone.
"Yes sir. I would like to be shown how to forge weapons and learn everything I can about owning a weapons shop." Naruto said.
This made the man chuckle while Anko smirked. "Do you think my little Naru could stay here awhile. It's his birthday and I need to handle a few things." Anko asked while placing her hands in the pockets in her coat.
Ryuga laughed. "That's no problem. I don't mind sharing the secrets of the trade with the young boy." Ryuga said.
The two proceeded toward the back once Ryuga closed the doors to signal that his shop was closed for the day. Anko smirked and performed a shun shin and met with Hana, Yugao, Shisui, and Genma. The five of them discussed the plans and then they each vanished to work on a task they were assigned.
In the back room, Naruto was sitting in a chair across from Ryuga as they had a massive piece of steel with the proper tools to carve anything the maker desired.
"Naruto, do you have an idea on what you would like created?" Asked Ryuga as he prepared his tools.
Naruto adopted a thinking position. "What about a double sided sword?" Naruto suggested.
"Quite the interesting suggestion. I don't believe I've ever had such a sword in my care. Okay, to create the desired weapon, you must first design it. The ink here will allow us to trace how we want the metal cut." Ryuga said.
Naruto gave an interested nod as his eyes became glued on the tools being used. Deciding to treat the boy for his birthday, Ryuga allowed Naruto to design the shape of the blade. Feeling honored, Naruto takes the ink and begins to sketch how he wants the blade.
Watching the boy, Ryuga could only look in amazement at the talent Naruto was revealing by his sketching skills. Seeing the designs that have yet been seen by anyone, Ryuga made a mental note to ask Naruto about what the symbol meant.
Once the sketch was complete, Ryuga began performing a jutsu that allowed the ink to come to life and the double bladed sword was created. However, it wasn't finished. Ryuga placed the newly created sword over what appeared like a seal.
"Naruto, what do you know about Fuinjutsu?" Ryuga asked the young boy who was showing excitement in his eyes.
Once Naruto realized the man was speaking to him, he began thinking about all of the topics that he and Anko discussed. "I'm not sure. It's one of the seven jutsu types being Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Kenjutsu, Senjutsu, Doijutsu, and Fuinjutsu. I believe it has something to do with seals." Naruto said confidently.
"It seems Anko has done well in educating you. Yes, Fuinjutsu is the ninja art that focuses on seals. As you see below, their is a seal known as the eight trigrams seal. This seal is considered to be one of, if not best seals to seal anything into. If I'm not mistaken, it was developed in the Land of Whirlpool by the Uzumaki clan. However, Lord Fourth was the one to fully master it." Ryuga explained.
"Woah. So this is a jutsu mastered by the Fourth Hokage?" Naruto asked as he was studying the seal.
"That's correct my boy. Now, why do you think I'm placing the sword over the eight trigrams seal?" Ryuga asked.
Naruto adopted a thinking pose as he looked back on the few instances that he spoke about Fuinjutsu. "Is it because you're going to seal a bit of chakra into it?" Naruto asked.
"Ho-ho! That's correct my boy. Yes, I will be sealing a bit of chakra inside of it. What many people who claim to specialize in kenjutsu don't realize is that when a blade has a seal, it adapts to the user and if the user happens to be wielding the blade they creates, the sword will respond to only them." Ryuga explained.
The two finished the sealing process and as a treat Naruto, he was given the beginner book of Fuinjutsu to allow him to educate himself in the art of seals. Naruto thanked the man and when he proceeded to leave, he was met by Anko.
"Hey Naruto, did you have fun?" Anko asked as she looked at her son's bright smile.
"Hell yeah I did!" Naruto declared while jumping in excitement.
"Good, now come on. It's time to go celebrate your birthday." Anko said and before Naruto could say anything, she threw him over he shoulders and performed a shun shin.
When they arrived, Naruto was excited to see Yugao, Shisui, Tsune, Kiba, Hana, Shikaku, Yoshino, Shikamaru, Inoichi, Ino, Genma, and the Hokage. At once, they all wished Naruto a happy birthday.
"You all came!" Naruto cheered and everyone smiled at him.
Yugao walked over and handed Naruto the special sword he looked at, the Crimson Serpent sword. Naruto then asked if it had a seal and when Yugao explained that it didn't, Baruro shocked everyone place placing the Eight Trigrams Seal on it along with transfering some of his chakra. Which shocked everyone was that it had the Uzumaki swirl mixed with a snake.
"Naruto, where did you learn how to do that?" Hiruzen asked in surprise.
"I watched Mr.Ryuga do it. He showed me and explained to me that swords are just pieces of metal without the seal and if the user can place their own seal, the sword will only answer to them." Naruto said.
"I see. When did Mr.Ryuga show you this Fuinjutsu?" Hiruzen asked.
"It was earlier when my mom dropped me off." Naruto said.
Everyone in the room nearly fell over at the revelation. The Eight Trigram Seal was the jutsu the Fourth Hokage used to seal Kyuubi and it was considered to be a level of Fuinjutsu that took a years to master and understand.
Hiruzen walked over and handed Naruto a three pronged kunai. "Naruto, this kunai was your fathers. He not only created it, but also the formula on it. If you're as talented in the art of Fuinjutsu was we believe, you'll be able to crack the code and master this jutsu." Hiruzen said with a challenging smirk.
Naruto held it and smirked back. "Challenge accepted old man! I'll crack this formula soon!" Naruto declared while pointing his hand finger at the Hokage.
Everyone let out a chuckle at Naruto's declaration. Handing out his next gift, Kiba, Hana, and Tsune had given Naruto a book on food pills since Naruto was planning on having his own weapon shop someday.
"This will teach you about how most pills are created and who knows, you may be able to create your own pills." Tsune pointed.
Naruto gave her a tight hug with a bright smile. "When Kiba becomes a ninja, I'll develop some food pills that will boost his speed, stamina, and strength!" Naruto declared and both himself and Kiba were melting over the idea.
Everyone in the room laughed at the idea. Even Tsune couldn't help but chuckle. Though while everyone was happy and excited for Naruto, the idea of him not wanting to become a shinobi did bring sadness to them. It was time for Genma to give Naruto his gift and to everyone's surprise, he was given a kunai and Shuriken set.
"I know you aren't wild about becoming a ninja. I figured as a weapon maker, you should be fairly decent with weapons. Not to mention, I'm sure you could make proper modifications to each of these for experiments." Genma explained.
This gave Naruto a new perspective. Being able to make new weapons that didn't exist would be an excellent idea. Naruto shook Genma's hand and thanked him for his present.
It was time for Shisui who gave Naruto a special scroll. "I refuse to accept that you won't be a ninja. In this scroll are the basics of chakra control, along with the basic academy jutsu you'll need to graduate." Shisui said.
Naruto smiled at the boy who he for some reason felt a close bond for some reason. Thanking Shisui, Naruto gave him a hug which made the young man smirk at Naruto. The final gift was from Anko who decided to let her son sign the snake contract. Naruto signed the scroll with the blood on his thumb.
"As of right now, their are only three snake summoners in the world. You will be the fourth. Of course, we'll need to help you with your chakra control before you can summon along with teaching you the hand seals." Anko explained.
"Do you think you could show me how it's done?" Naruto asked as he gave his mother the puppy dog look that get's her every time.
Anko sighed. "I need to learn how to break that Genjutsu you put me in with those eyes." Anko said as she gave her son a smile. After going through a few hand seals, Anko summoned her snake, Victor, her personal summon.
"That's basically how it works." Anko explained but before she could finish, everyone was stunned to see Naruto imitate what she did and summon a snake.
Coiled up in front of everyone, a snake was summoned and to Anko's surprise, Victor gave the snake a bow.
"Hello Lord Nagini." Said Victor.
"Hello Victor. Ah, Anko Mitarashi. What pleasure do I owe this summons?" Nagini asked.
"Lord Nagini. It wasn't Anko who summoned you, but it was the boy." Victor explained.
Nagini slithered up Naruro's legs and wrapped herself around his arm. "So, you are the one who summoned me?" Asked Nagini.
Naruto gave a nod with a smile. Nagini then informed both Victor and Anko she is Naruro's personal summon. Since Naruto was a snake summoner, he could communicate in the language of Parcel Tongue like his mother.
"I don't understand. Naruto, how did you summon that snake?" Asked Hiruzen who looked at the boy with interest.
"I'm not sure. I saw mom doing it and it seemed pretty easy." Naruto explained.
Deciding to test the boy, Hiruzen went through a series of hand seals and then declared, "Wind Release - Great Breakthrough!" A massive wind blew everyone back. "Naruto, could you perform the jutsu I just performed?" Hiruzen asked.
Naruto gave a nod and copied the hand seals. "Wind Release - Great Breakthrough!" Naruto declared and though it wasn't as powerful as the Hokage's jutsu, it was still impressive.
"It seems that little Naruto has a talent for the ninja arts. Naruto, I'd like you to consider enrolling into the ninja academy next year. I think you would find that your skills and abilities would provide excellent support to the village." Hiruzen said.
Naruto shook his head. "No thanks grandpa. I rather be a shop owner. Yeah the jutsu are cool, but really, all I'm interested in is making weapons along with playing with snakes." Naruto said as Nagini rubbed her head against his cheek.
The party continued on and though everyone wanted him to be a ninja, Anko declared that as his mother, she would let Naruto do what makes him happy. The party continued on until it was near midnight. Tsune threw Kiba over her shoulders and left along with the others. The only ones who remained where Shisui.
"Anko, I know you are looking out for Naruro's best interest. However, I think it would be wise for him to learn about the life of a shinobi. I mean, you and I both know their are more than just frontline wars." Shisui said as he looked at the sleeping Naruto.
"I know. Naruto has had a life of misery for the longest. I don't want him to be forced into a life that wouldn't make him happy. Even if he is the son of Lord Fourth." Anko said.
The two continued talking for the next few hours until Shisui excused himself. Anko picked up her son and the two of them laid in the bed after Anko released the storage seal.
Watching her son sleep with the snake around his arm, Anko smiled softly as she softly rubbed his head. "You would make one hell of a ninja." Anko quietly said. She soon feel into a deep sleep.
Morning time came around and when she woke up, she noticed that Naruto wasn't anywhere in sight. This frightens her and while remaining in her night outfit, she proceeded out of the apartment where she began looking for her son. She also summoned a Victor who was able to track Nagini's scent.
When the two arrived outside the training field that Naruto's scent brought them, Anko was watching as her son was practicing the serpent style Taijutsu art that the snake summoners learned from their summons. Each strike was orchestrated perfectly and his movements were fast. It was like looking at a younger version of Anko's former sensei.
The synergy between Naruto and Nagini in their Taijutsu style seemed to mimics how the Inuzuka clan fight with their ninja hounds. Naruto suddenly jumped into the air and while he was upside down, he threw the kunai and Shuriken. Surprisingly, he struck every target in the dead center along with striking the target in his blind spot.
"Excellent work. You're talented." Said Nagini as she hissed at the boy.
"Talent is pointless unless you're willing to put the work in." Naruto explained.
"Naruto." Anko called out as she walked over to her son.
"Hi mom. I was just out here doing some training with Nagini. She is really smart, just like you." Naruto pointed out.
Anko sighed due to not feeling like scolding her son. "I see. Didn't you think to leave a note?" Anko asked while crossing her arms.
"I thought about it. But then it hit me, Nagini is one of the most powerful and known members from the snake clan. All you had to do was summon Victor and he would have led you to me. Plus, you worked really hard on my birthday, so I figured I'd let you sleep in and planned to be back before you got up." Naruto explained.
Anko nodded. "Okay, but for future reference, if you're ever going to go out and train, please leave me a note." Anko said. Naruto nodded and the two shun shinned back to the apartment. Naruto received a smack on his head.
"What was that for?" Naruto asked.
"For making me leave the house like this. Do you know how much of a privilege it is to see the sexy and beautiful Anko Mitarashi?" Anko asked.
"I don't know. I get to see you like that twenty-four seven. So I don't see what's so special about it." Naruto said.
Anko proceeded to give her son another snack until Naruto went through a series of hand seals and used the Water Release - Water Wall, to protect him.
Anko was stunned at what she saw. "Naruto, how did you do that?" Anko asked her son while ignoring the mess of water in the apartment.
"During our jog this morning, I saw someone training and they performed the same jutsu. I decided to give it and shot and it was pretty easy." Naruto said with a smile.
Anko walked over and studied her son's eyes. "Come on, we're going to go visit the Hokage." Anko said while going to get dressed.
"Am I in trouble?" Naruto asked.
"No, we just need to get you looked at. It's ridiculous that a five year old boy can perform jutsu like you have while only seeing it once." Anko pointed out.
When they arrived at the Hokage's tower, Hiruzen was shocked at what he learned. After Naruto demonstrated his Water wall, Hiruzen pulled out a special piece of paper that would allow Naruto to be shown his affinities. Naruto channeled the chakra to the paper and shocked the Hokage by revealing a Wind, Water, and Lightning affinity.
"Three affinities?" Anko asked as if she couldn't believe it.
"What does that mean?" Naruto asked his mother and the Hokage.
"It means you are quite talented. You know, your father was the exact same and had those three affinities though it was only revealed after he reached the rank jonin since we require our shinobi to be able to produce at least two affinities." Hiruzen explained. "Naruto, I would like to ask you, do you want to become a shinobi?" Hiruzen asked in his grandfather like voice.
"Naruto, I would take him up on hat offer. You will learn a lot of things about becoming a ninja. Not to mention, after a year of being a genin, you can retire." Nagini hissed to him.
"Alright, I suppose I'll give it a shot." Naruto said.
While Anko was proud of her son, she felt as if he were pressured to do so. "Naruto, you don't have to become a ninja if you don't want to become one." Anko said.
"I'll become a ninja but only on one condition. Mom, you have to take me on as an apprentice." Naruto said.
"Why do you want to be my apprentice? Especially when you would be assigned a genin team" Anko asked her soon with curiosity.
"Because, I'll be limited to what Konoha allowed for Academy students and for what genin are allowed to learn. However, if I am an apprentice, I'll be free from that rule. It's similar to how children from ninja clans are permitted to learn B and A rank jutsu without zkonoha stepping in." Naruto said.
Hiruzen looked at the boy. "Okay, I hear you declare Naruto Mitarashi, the apprentice of Anko Mitarashi. Once you graduate from the academy at the age of twelve, you'll be assigned to join a genin team but, Anko will have priority in training you along with taking you on missions." Hiruzen said.
Naruto gave a nod. "Thanks grandpa." Naruto said with a smirk before he was smacked over the head by his mother.
"Sorry Gaki, but there will be some rules as my apprentice." Anko said with her sinister smile. The two then exited the room where Hiruzen let out a chuckle.
Both Naruto and Anko arrived at trainjng field forty-four, the Forest of Death. "Alright Gaki, things are going to be different, much different. From now until I say so, you will be living inside the forest of death." Anko said.
Naruto looked at his mother with wide eyes. "Don't you think that's a bit extreme?" Naruto asked as he looked at the forbidden forest.
"If you want to be my student, then you will train under my rules. Rule number one, my name is Anko sensei, not mom or mommy. Rule number two, you are to show no signs of emotion such as sadness, anger, or happiness. A shinobi is faltered when they have emotions and it clouds the judgment. Rule number three, you are to only speak when spoken to. Am I clear?" Anko asked.
"Yes mom." Aruto said but received a punch to his gut. "I'm sorry, Yes Anko sensei." Naruto said as he picked himself up.
"Good, now come on. The two of us will be spending the next year inside of here. Fortunately, the chunin exams will be taking place in Kumo. So we won't have to leave." Anko said.
"Don't worry. Your mother is only doing this to prepare you for the future ahead." Nagini explained.
"I know. Now come on, let's go wild." Naruto declared as he and Anko entered the forest.
"I'm sorry Naruto. But I refuse to let my son get killed in the battlefield. While my former sensei was a monster, he knew what he was doing." Anko silently thought to herself.
Ending Notes
- Naruto will become the official student of Anko and receives the training that Orochimaru gave to his adoptive mother.
- No, Naruto doesn't have the Sharingan or Rinnegan but has a talent similarly to Goku. See a jutsu once, and be able to produce it though it doesn't work like this with the Hiraishin. Rasengan, Etc.
- Naruto will become a shinobi but things will go much differently than they did in cannon.
