Hopper was not looking so good.
Blood was running from his left temple.
There were bruises scattered across his body.
She couldn't believe that he was still standing.
He was trying to plan with Murray their next move, arguing with Alexi every now and then.
Joyce was on the phone (trying) to have a conversation with her son.
"Hey Will"
"Oh, hi mom,"
Joyce frowned.
"Are you okay sweetie?"
"Um,"
There was a rustling sound, mixed with muffled conversations.
"Yeah, just tired, the Party had a sleepover last night."
"Ok... if, you're sure." Joyce was still hesitant.
"Yeah, I'm sure. When are you coming back?"
"Um... I'm not sure sweetheart we-"
There was a crash in the kitchen.
That wasn't good.
"Mom, what was that?"
"Nothing, honey. Listen I've got to go. I'll call as soon as I can. Ok?"
"Ok, mom. Love you."
"Love you too."
Joyce hung up the phone, heading to the kitchen.
When she got there, the guys looked guilty.
Joyce looked down, finding the cause.
There were glass shards on the floor, once belonging to a plate.
"It got... overheated." Murray said meekly.
Joyce sighed telling Murray to grab a broom and clean it up.
Hopper was leaning against the counter, a dazed look on his face.
Joyce moved toward to him, concerned.
Her mind was racing.
Was Hopper okay?
Did that head wound worse than it looked?
Joyce couldn't lose Hopper.
She coudn- wait.
Why was she feeling like this?
Was she- was she in love with Hopper?
Joyce thought about it.
Yeah, she was pretty sure she was in love with Hopper.
"Hey," she said shaking Hopper gently.
"Hm?"
"You good?"
"Yeah, yeah just thinking." Hopper said giving her a small smile.
Joyce nodded, understanding.
"Hopper! Come here!" Murray called.
Hopper headed out of the kitchen, while Joyce kept thinking about what had just happened.
Joyce Byers is in love with Jim Hopper.
It whirled around in her head, over and over.
Maybe- just maybe...
It could work.
Joyce looked up when Murray and Hopper entered the kitchen with brooms in hands.
She watched Hopper argue with Murray, sneaking amused grins toward Joyce.
She grinned back.
The grin slowly faded with her second big realization of the day.
It wouldn't work.
It would mess up things.
Big time.
But she really wished it wouldn't.
Because Joyce Byers is in love with Jim Hopper.
