The group alternated between playing games, binging horror movies, and listening to music throughout the day. Not feeling up to making costumes, they decided to trick-or-treat in their normal attire.
"I'll make dinner when we get back," Amy offered, "It'll probably be cube steak and mashed potatoes - something simple."
"That works," Sonic agreed, "Need to save room for candy, anyway."
"Vanilla told me Cream's watching Cuts of Devotion now," Tails informed them, "We should drop by and visit before we make our rounds."
"Didn't know cream was into that kind of stuff." Amy voiced.
"Vanilla's into rock and metal, too. Guess horror was as natural a fit for the genre as we thought. Cream's Cream. She's always down for a good love story. I guess seeing a different take on the style piqued her curiosity. Can't say I blame her. Being around kid-friendly stuff all the time gets old after a while."
"I guess that's true."
"Anyway, we should get going. Don't want everybody to run out of treats before we get there."
"Right."
Sonic dashed toward the city with his friends in tow. Vanilla's house was the last one at the end of the road, not that they needed a reminder. The riffs blaring from inside were a dead giveaway. They rang the doorbell, waiting for the elder rabbit to answer. Moments later, she greeted them on the porch.
"I was hoping you would show up. Cream's having a blast watching your movie."
"Where is she?" Tails asked curiously.
"She's in the living room with Cheese. Come on in."
Vanilla stepped aside, granting the trio access. Tails caught wind of a familiar scent.
"I know that smell! It's the burning leaves freshener!"
"Blazing, actually. Blaze made it especially for the holidays. She's made a killing off it."
"I see what you did there."
"What can I say? I'm still a kid at heart."
"Yeah; a kid with the construction of a M-"
Sonic covered his brother's mouth, nearly smacking him out of sheer anxiety.
"HOKAaay, little buddy! We should find Cream now, don't you think?"
Vanilla smiled, knowing full well what the fox intended to say.
"This way." she continued.
Vanilla led the party to where Cream and Cheese were watching TV. She called out to the child with a hint of pleased anticipation.
"Cream. There's someone here to see you."
The young rabbit perked her ears, turning her head to identify the unexpected guests.
"Amy, Tails, Sonic!"
"Ciao, Ciao!" Cheese squeaked.
"Hiya," Sonic greeted cheerfully, "Looks like you've taken a liking to our magnum opus."
"Magna-what?"
"Our masterpiece."
"Oh! You mean the movie! I love it!"
"Really," Amy inquired, "Aren't you scared?"
"No way! The story's really good! You and Sonic are perfect together!"
"We couldn't have done it without Tails. He's the one who recorded everything."
"Really!? That's so cool!"
"What's your favorite scene?" Sonic asked.
"It's coming up now!"
The gang gathered around the television. The camera cut to a shot of Amy sleeping. A filter had been added to create a pale, ghostly effect, followed by a song from Bleeding Through that perfectly matched the tone of the shot. Cream bobbed her head as the scene transitioned to a tree in an open field. It was the first of several dream sequences in the film.
"TOO FRAGILE-FRAIL TO LEAVE A MARK FOR THIS LIFETIME! LEGIONS OF STORMS TO PREY THIS WAR ON YOU! DESIGNED WITH FALSE EMOTION! I'LL CROSS THE LINE TO TAKE THE FALL! AWAKEN, MY LOVE, AND INHALE THIS BEAUTIFUL SILENCE, BUT FOR NOW, THIS THREAD I HOLD WILL BE GONE, FOREVER NO MORE!"
Sonic, Tails, and Amy started moshing in the living room, containing themselves just enough to avoid breaking anything. To avoid causing confusion, Cheese stuck with classic headbanging instead. Cream giggled, watching in childish awe as her friends gave it their all. She thought about asking to join, but decided against it for her mother's sake. Four stooges were already enough.
