A/N: for those who wanted to know what happened next... she obviously runs away to spend the weekend with Josh.

Game night - Postscript

The sun danced through the Venetian blinds as they swayed in the gentle morning breeze. She sat upright in bed, hugging her knees to her chest as she watched, entranced by the flickering of light that made its way across the bedroom walls.

Josh had been staying at his mother's home in Great Neck, minding her fawn Saluki - Magnus - while she was vacationing. He had been asking her all week to stay with him, to enjoy a small break from the city life to unwind with him. Away from it all. Free from distraction.

Free from Castle.

But she was never truly free from him. He had managed to infiltrate her every thought, consume her every waking moment. The fresh air somehow smelt like him, coffee tasted how she imagined he would taste and the touch of her boyfriend's fingertips lazily tracing down her spine felt like him. She was here because she needed to cement herself in her relationship... to prove to herself that Castle wasn't right. But this felt like betrayal.

Josh rolled toward her, stirring into consciousness. "I can hear you thinking." He kissed at the exposed skin of her hip. "Makes it really hard to sleep when you radiate anxiety like this, babe."

"Sorry." She mumbled, not turning her attention from the dancing light.

"What's wrong?" He pulled himself up, supporting himself on his elbow.

"I should go feed Magnus." She tossed the blanket to the side, planting her feet firmly on the floor. "And get ready for work..." she trailed off when she felt his hands around her waist, keeping her seated on the bed.

She knew she shouldn't, but she couldn't help herself. She closed her eyes and Castle's face was all she could see. The sensation of his fingertips lingered on her skin, like a burn that remains long after its infliction.

"You've got plenty of time." She felt his breath, hot against her ear as his body pressed against her back. "Stay a little."

Hot breath turned into the tickle of his lips, turned into the nibble of teeth. A move that was so classically Josh. And yet her mind was stuck on the baby blues piercing into her soul, and his voice... his damn voice as he said he wanted her. Why couldn't she stop thinking of those words? The way his mouth moved as he spoke them... the way her entire body reacted...

He pushed her hair over her shoulder, kissing down the back of her neck. Each kiss sent a new wave of chills through her, her involuntary shivers encouraging him to keep going. His hand moved from her waist to her stomach, his fingers toying with the band of her sleep shorts.

Rick...

Shit. Her eyes shot open, she hoped she hadn't said that out loud.

"Stop." She pulled herself from his arms, lunging forward. She hesitantly turned to face him. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just... I can't do this."

What the hell was she doing? This wasn't right. She had to get out of here...
