Authors note: parseltongue is going to look like this: Parseltongue.

Chapter 11. Parsel-magic, Pyramids and a new companion.

Jakob sat on a chair beside the passed-out girl's bed, reading the parseltongue book while waiting for his roommate to wake up.

Her parents had been informed when Jakob had come carrying the unconscious girl and told them she had fainted because of the sun, he believed.

They had put her to bed, and Jake offered to be at her side until she woke. Percival and Amaryllis accepted that offer and would check on them before dinner.

As Jakob sat in his chair, he looked at the spells and other magic that parseltongue could offer. Transfigurations that could Summon and control snakes, wards with parsel-magic that could only be identified and broken by another parselmouth and healing magic, which Jakob had no use for but studied anyways. It had the essential information. The Slytherin boy knew that if he wanted to learn additionally, he would need to find more.

The book had one Ritual that Jakob thought looked interesting, and when he returned to Hogwarts, this would be the first he used in his new classroom.

Jakob looked at the still-sleeping Pansy observing if she would wake anytime soon and decided he had time to try one thing.

The boy Stood up and laid the book open with a description of a spell.

He took out his wand and closed his eyes.

"Serpensortia." Jakob hissed, and a bang was heard from his wand, and a big black cobra shot out.

"Rip tear kill. I want to eat!" hissed the snake, and Jakob was stunned for a moment and observed the giant snake, which he guessed was Almost 2 meters long.

"Easy snake, you will obey." hissed Jakob back with the book that hadc told that snakes only listen to a firm and commanding voice.

The snake looked at him and raised its head. Jakob was prepared with his wand if he had to defend himself.

"Master, speaker? You give me food?"

Jakob pointed His wand at the snake and said.

Vipera evanesca." The snake was shot in the head with the spell and then burned away with a hiss.

"Holy shit, I'm a parselmouth," Jakob whispers, sitting in his chair in amazement.

Reading it was one thing, but experiencing it firsthand and speaking to a snake was another.

"Jakob?" the boy turned as he heard the voice of Pansy. He watched over to the girl who had just woken up.

"Good morning. Had a nice sleep?" Jacob took up his book and laid it on the nightstand.

"Ugh, what time is it?" Asked the groggy girl putting a hand on her head and sitting on the bed.

"It's almost five, so we need to get you up and ready for dinner. Should I tell your parent that you are awake?"

Pansy looked at him with a suspicious glance.

"Did you tell them?"

Jake got up from his chair, walked over to her, and took a seat on the side of her bed. He gently grabbed her hand and looked her in the eyes.

"This must stay between us right now because I don't know how I ended up with this ability. I have never been able to talk to snakes before, and suddenly I can both speak to them and read the language?" Jakob sighed and glanced at the book.

"Until I get some answers, I need this to be our secret."

Pansy nodded but could not understand why her roommate wanted this to be a secret.

"I promise, but I don't understand. You have a gift, the same as the founder of our house. Why you would want to keep it a secret. You could be the new king."

Jacob laughed and raised her from the bed.

" I don't think that being able to speak to snakes will make me a king, but I see what you mean. I just don't want to do anything that could come back and bite me."

The two went downstairs, met up with Pansy's parents, and later went out to eat.

When they sat and ate, Mr Parkinson told them that their last visit would be tomorrow, when he had talked to an exceptional guide who could guide them to a pyramid they had recently discovered.

Jacob sat and listened to what the man said with great interest.

He told them that the entrance was dug up and the top, but the rest was still underway by the muggles that had found it.

That night Jakob could not sleep.

Pansy, who had sneaked into his room every night these two weeks, was now using his arm as a pillow. Jakob had tried to sleep, but the feeling of excitement was too much, and he was now lying on his back, staring up at the roof.

" I hope I don't get disappointed," he whispered.

Pansy moved and turned around in her sleep and faced him. He glanced at the sleeping girl, who had gained a brown tint to her usually white skin.

When they had eaten breakfast that Jakob had practically devoured so that they could get ready, Mr Parkinson took out an amulet that was going to be their portkey.

"Where did you get that, dad?" asked Pansy, in awe at the fine jewellery.

"When I paid the guide, he gave it to me, but I'm sorry, sweetie, this will return to the guide." Said Percivall to his daughter with an apologetic smile.

Pansy looked a little miffed but soon forgot it when they all stood around the portkey and felt a hook in the navels as they transported themselves to the desert.

Jacob looked around, wearing his shades, and saw that there was only sand as far as the eye could see.

He noted the others were looking around, too but suddenly, a man with a black beard and Egyptian clothes apparated in front of them.

"Welcome, my friends, my name is Asim, and I will be your guide for this day. " The man said, raising his arms as he was about to give them all a hug. When Asim got closer, he lowered his arms and gave them a warm smile while shaking their hands.

" I can only see sand. Where is that pyramid you are going to show us?" Said the girl looking around frowning.

Asim smirked and took out his wand, waving it around and saying something the British tourist could not understand.

Jakob's eyes widened as he saw an excavation appear further ahead.

" As muggles tend to work every day of the week, those small ants, we need to hide this piece of diamond when we receive visitors."

They all walked towards the pit that had a fence around it. And looked in stunned amazement at the Diamond, as Asin had called it.

The Egyptian stood proud and gestured to the triangle top and the small entrance that was a few meters below.

" As you all can see, the entrance is a bit smaller. This is because it is something we had to make ourselves. When a pyramid was constructed, the slaves got inside it and closed it from the inside."

"How did they get out then?" Pansy, looking out over the pyramid, asked in confusion.

"They didn't," said Asim smirking at the girl, who now turned to look at the guide in a tiny bit of shock."

"It was a great honour to die beside the pharao, and many slaves walked willingly inside and awaited death to reunite with their master."

Jakob raised his eyebrow. To willingly close them selfs inside a cave of rock and starve to death for their master. That really was something, thought the Slytherin boy.

"Now then!" said Asim clapping his hands.

"A few rules before we enter. First, you will always follow me and do as I say. If I, for example, tell you to run, you run."

Jakob looked a the guide, confused.

" Second. You will not touch anything in there! As it's newly dug up, we have not been able to neutralize all the curses, so if you touch something, there is no way we can save you."

Jakob got excited hearing Asim talking like this, and it seemed like no one else was on the faces they portrayed. Mr Parkinson looked like he was focusing on everything the guide was saying, while his wife looked worried. Pansy nodded but walked closer to Jakob and, without herself knowing, took his hand.

They all went down the sand steppes that appeared When Asim waved his wand. The guide started to lecture about the pyramid and when they believed it had been made.

"It is said to the house of the black pharao whose real name was Banakhi. Not much of his life has been recorded, so this pyramid is a treasure of knowledge to us."

As they walked, Asim briefed them on the information that existed and soon, they had reached the bottom of the excavation.

Asim gestured for them to stand before the entrance. When the Slytherin boy looked into the dark tunnel, he felt something in him stir.

It was similar to when he fought with professor Quirrell but missing the wrath.

They all went inside and were told by Asim to light up their wands.

" If you look at the walls, you will see pictures of the gods Seth and Osiris. The people that you see bowing are muggles. and Wizards."

The guide continued to talk about the different pictures, but Jakob soon lost interest and began looking at the various paintings and symbols as they walked further in.

After 25 minutes of walking, they entered a room, and Asim stopped and turned around.

" Ah, we have arrived, my friends, at the treasure chamber. Here laid the offerings that the pharao would take with him to the afterlife. Here you can take 5 minutes to look around but remember, don't touch."

The Parkinsons began looking at the different jewellery, and Pansy, a little scared, kept close to her father.

Jakob was more intrigued by a painting that was shown on one of the walls and walked closer, shining his Lumos on it.

There was a man with a falcon head with the sun above his head, sitting on a boat with another man With a head that Jakob could not identify holding a spear.

In the following picture, a giant snake slithers towards the men on the boat.

Jakob had to take a step to continue, and he saw the following picture showing the man with the spear fighting with the snake.

In the last picture, Jakob saw the falcon man and the man with the spear standing victorious, and the snake slithered away.

As Jakob noticed something, the guide showed up behind him.

" That's the sun god Ra, and the man with the spear is Seth. The snake you are seeing is the darkness, Apep.

It's said that Apep wants to devour the sun, and the two gods fight him every day so that we might see the sun rise again."

Jakob looked back at the painting.

"You said the god of darkness, but I only see a snake?" said Jakob and frowned.

" He is a god. Can't he be both?" smirked Asim.

Jag shrugged, and the guide walked back to the others.

When Jakob examined the painting and e noticed something in the first picture. It was something beside the snake. A dot.

Jakob raised his finger and tried to wipe the dirt away, but when his finger came into contact with the black mark, he felt a prick on his finger, and he saw that a drop of his blood had been smirched on the wall.

Suddenly he felt something invisible grasp his body and pull him towards the wall faster than he could react. Just as he was about to slam into the rock wall, he went passed it, and suddenly, he was in another chamber.

He looked around with the light from his wand and saw that there was a wall behind him and no guide or Parkinsons.

He held his wand tighter and tried to control his sense of dread that had begun to rise.

"You are okay. You are fine," whispered Jakob to himself, and as he took a few steps forwards, he saw an altar against the opposite wall in the empty chamber.

He walked closer and caught that a black scale egg as big as a handball was sitting on top of it.

The scared boy walked over to it, and with his Lumos, he directed it on the black egg that seemed so dark that it looked like a hole of darkness in the light.

Jakob raised his hand slowly and was about to touch the egg when he saw it rattle and jumped back.

" shit, shit, holy shit, I'm going to die."

The egg rattled more and more, and Jakob could only point his wand against it, waiting for his enemy to emerge.

Suddenly it stopped, and Jake frowned a bit, feeling a drop of sweat running down his temple.

And then the egg burst open, and a snake with the black colour of the egg but shiny scales and red eyes looked at Jakob, who looked paralyzed back at it.

The snake leaned back for a moment, and quick as an arrow, it flew straight for the young wizard.

Jakob felt the stir, and he automatically moved aside. The snake missed his throat by centimetres, and Jakob, who saw the black fans felt his stomach drop.

It landed on the stone and was preparing its next attack when the Slytherin boy collected himself and Hissed.

" speaker, I'm a speaker!"

The snake turned its head as it looked confused but amusing and hissed.

" You might be a speaker, but I am of the dark one and won't be controlled by a mere speaker. You smell of blood, and I'm hungry." Hissed the snake back.

The snake then leaned back and flew toward the boy again, who raised his hand in protection and saw the dark mist forming and circling around the snake, holding it mid-air.

" You are of darkness, speaker?"

Jakob, who silently thanked this power, hissed back.

" I am, and you will stop attacking me now!"

The snake lowered its head, and Jakob gently put it down on the stone.

The snake slithered towards him, almost like it was tired. Then slithered up his leg, waist and his shoulder.

Jakob noticed that the snake was arm's length long.

" You feel at home. Your darkness is comforting."

The snake hissed while Having its tail on Jakobs left shoulder and then circling around the boy's neck and laying its head on his right shoulder.

" Who…what are you?" asked Jakob.

" My blood is said to come from the dark one. I know nothing else." hissed the snake back.

Jakob at the snake then switched to the egg pieces on the altar.

The boy went over and took the broken pieces that were sharp as fangs and hard as a rock.

" How did you burst this open? Even I can't break these," asked Jakob in wonder, picking up the shards.

"It was challenging, but hunger is a good motivation." It hissed back, and Jakob could see a black snake tongue smelling the air.

" Do you know a way out of here?" asked Jakob after collecting the last piece and carefully putting it in his shorts pants.

"I have been in an egg." hissed the snake as if it was a dumb question.

Jakob looked around the chamber again and tried to see if the walls could show anything.

After what seemed like an eternity, Jakob sat on the floor, feeling the hope running out of him.

" They can't just make an entrance and not an exit," he said out loud in frustration.

He thought back and remembered the dot, and he rose up.

"Snake, I need you to help me now. Look for a black dot that could be somewhere in this room."

The snake hissed and slithered down from Jakob's shoulders, and together they started to look again.

"Here."

As Jakob heard the snake hiss for him at the other side of the chamber, he ran forwards and gestured for the snake to slither up and take his place around his shoulders again.

"If this works, you might feel a bit uncomfortable." hissed Jakob and touched the dot.

The feeling of someone grabbing him and them pulling him towards the wall came, and suddenly they were back in the treasure chamber.

It was empty, and a note was written on a piece of paper.

Jakob walked to it and read.

If you see this, Jake, go outside, and we will find you.

Jakob turned to the corridor they had come through and started walking.

" so what are your plans when I get you out of here?" asked Jakob as they walked in the dark with only a Lumos lightening up their way.

"I will stay with you. I enjoy your darkness and will grow with it."

"wait, but how will i... What do you eat? "

"Things bigger than me, but I want them to be alive."

Well, that's specific... thought the boy.

"When we exit this pyramid, there will be people looming for me, friends. They can't see you."

"Why?" asked the snake lifting its head and gazing at Jakob's eyes.

"Because if they see you, they might think you belong to someone else, which would be a problem for us. Technically you are the property of the pyramids, so I'm stealing you."

The snake lay its head on Jakob's shoulder.

"I will hide." it hissed.

When they finally came out of the pyramid, the night had arrived, and Jakob saw all the stars in the night sky. The snake had curled itself around his left leg under his long shorts.

"That's weird. It should not be this dark yet," said Jakob looking around.

"Huh. How will I get back?" the boy who carried a magical snake took a few steps, and suddenly a loud pop was heard, and Asim had apparated in front of him.

" I told you not to touch anything! Are you hurt? Are you fine?"

Jakob nodded and looked at the worried man.

"I'm fine and not injured, but it took a while for me to find the exit. I'm ready to get back if that's all right?" said Jakob

The man looked suspicious at Jakob.

"I will, but first, you will tell me what happened. "

Jakob told him the story but left out the snake and instead chose to tell Asim that the altar had dried blood on it.

With a sigh of relief, the man then took the boy's arm, and with a pop, they were gone, all three of them.

When they arrived back at the hotel, Mr Parkinson and Mrs Parkinson stood and waited for them in the lobby.

They thanked Asim, who waved them goodbye, and Jakob told them the same story he had told Asim.

"I'm sorry for causing trouble," said Jakob with an apologetic smile.

The two parents assured him everything was fine and that if he had been still missing tomorrow, they would have told his father, but they had a feeling that everything was alright.

"But where is Pansy?" asked Jakob, noticing that the girl was not present.

"She is in her room. I believe a little visit would make her really happy now," said Amaryllis and gave him a smile.

Jakob went through the corridor and over to Pansy's door and knocked.

"Go. I don't need anything." Jakob heard Pansy say in a week and crying voice.

" Well, open up. Then I have stuff to talk about, and I'm hungry."

He heard the girl getting up from bed and then footsteps rushing to the door and opening it so fast that Jakob got a bit surprised at how it was still holding on by its hinges.

The girl was red in and around her eyes, and tears covered her cheeks.

Pansy grabbed his shirt and pulled him into a hug, and Jakob had to move his leg away from her, fearing that she would accidentally harm his snake.

"Where in the bloody shitting hell were you?! First, you were there, and suddenly everyone called out for you, and you were nowhere. That idiot Asim said you had been taken by the dark one and prayed, and I was so scared I had lost you and…."

Jakob patted her head and hushed her while she cried on his shoulder.

" Pansy, I know, and I will explain everything, but first, I want you to be the first to meet someone."

The girl let go of him and backed away.

"What? Who have you met?"

Jakob smiled and hissed

"Come out but slowly so you don't scare her."

The snake slowly slithered out from under his shorts, and Pansy saw a snake so dark that if it weren't for the glow that the scales made, she would have thought it was a black shadow.

It raised its head at the girl, and Pansy backed away a few steps when she saw those red eyes.

"Pansy, don't be afraid. This is… I have not given snake a name yet, but it's bounded to me somehow. It was an egg that hatched and first tried to eat me. But my mist somehow bounded it, and now it will be my companion, I think?"

Pansy, who still looked at the snake, turned her gaze to Jakob.

" It tried to eat you?"

"yeah, it's a long story."

"hungry" hissed the snake and looked at Jakob.

" What… what did it say?" asked Pansy.

" Do you want me to get you some food?" hissed Jake to the black reptile.

"No. I hunt. I smell a lot of food," hissed the snake back.

" Don't hunt near this building, and don't get followed. Come back here when you are full."

"What the bloody hell are you two talking about?" said Pansy, then backed away as the snake slithered out and down via the balcony.

" It's hungry, and I told it to hunt further away from the hotel so it would not be seen around here."

Pansy sat down in the bed, and Jakob told her the whole story.

"Weren't you scared in there? Seeing that snake rise and attack you?" asked Pansy when he was done.

" Terrified, but after it bounded to me, I found it to comfort me to have someone in there."

"the egg shard that you took, can I see them?

Jakob took out the shards, and Pansy looked at them in awe.

"What are you going to do with them?"

" I don't know yet. I took them more as a memory of the birth, but they could have uses. These snakes lived for about 5000 years, so it might be the only egg left in the world. "

Pansy started to laugh, and Jakob looked confused at her.

" You got what you wanted, at least. The knowledge that was previously lost. You said it at home the day before we left."

Jakob nodded and smiled.

" Yeh, not the way I expected, but I got two things."

That night pansy slept on Jakob's arm and had her leg around him as if she feared that he would disappear again.

Jakob, who was also sleeping, woke up feeling something slithering up his arm.

He opened his eyes and saw the red slits staring back at him.

"Good hunt?" asked the boy raising the snake's body so it could curl up beside him on the nightstand that he dragged closer to the bed while trying to not wake the sleeping Pansy.

The snake who had. Its body on the nightstand curled up, laid its head close to To Jakob's head and hissed.

" full."

Jakob did not ask what the snake had eaten but instead asked another.

"Are you male or female?"

"female", hissed the snake.

" do you have a name? My name is Jakob."

" No name." hissed the snake back.

"would you like one?"

The snake raised its head a little at the boy, who thought for a moment before hissing.

" Saliza?"

" Saliza." said the snake looking like it tasted the name in the air.

" My name is Saliza."

Jakob gave her a tired smile.

" Glad you liked it. Goodnight, Saliza."

"Sleep well, Jakob.

The travel to Egypt was ending. Pansy and Jakob sat at breakfast with the Parkinson's parents and talked about every adventure they had been a part of. When the time came, they took a portkey back to Brittain, and Jakob had Saliza inside his bag.

At the ministry, Jakob met up with his father and sister, who greeted them all and, when the time came, said the slightly browner boy goodbye to the family who had taken him in these two weeks.

Jakob gave a sour Pansy a last hug and whispered.

"It's one month left, then we are back at Hogwarts. "

Pansy had nodded, but the sad frown on her face did not go away.

When the three Quades arrived home, Jakob, who stood in the floo room, took a deep breath. He was home again.

The boy had been greeted by Susie, Ella and Feemey, who had all been dying to know everything Jakob had been experiencing over there.

Jakob had told them to let him unpack and that he would later tell them about his trip.

He walked up to his room, and when he heard if anyone had followed him, he took out his wand and transfigured a hole in the wall right beside his bed. he then put a pillow inside the hole and let his snake out.

The snake looked at the hole and then at Jakob like it was waiting for him to explain.

"I can let them know about you just yet. They might be scared if I tell them too much information in one go, so until then, I made this for you to sleep in, and you will be able to go out using the window and climb down. Dont eat anything 200 meters from this house."

Saliza crawled into her hole and hissed.

"It's acceptable for now. But I will not be a secret for long."

Jakob nodded, glad that the snake agreed and went out to his family, who were waiting to hear the stories he had to tell.

Even Thomas sat in his seat with his pipe while Jakob told them about the things he had seen.

When he came to the Pyramid section of the story, he told them that they had walked in and seen a lot of different things and then walked out.

"So you had a good adventure, I hear." said his father getting up from his seat as he was preparing to go.

"Father, it's one more thing I would like to tell you all."

"And what would that be said?" Thomas was a little annoyed that he needed to sit down again.

Jakob took out his wand, pointed it at the couch table, and said.

"Serpensortia."

The wand banged, and a snake came out, landing on the table. Not as big as when he had used parseltongue, he noted.

"What is the meaning of this boy? Get rid of it!" said his father and took out his own wand.

Thomas halted in his step, and everyone got wide eyes when they heard Jakob hissing at the snake, which in turn hissed back and slithered up his arm and then back on the table again.

"vipers Evanesca," said Jakob and hit the snake with another spell, and they watched as it burned up.

Emma, Susie, Ella, Feemey and Thomas all stared and it was Emma who broke it.

"You are a parselmouth? How can you be a parselmouth? We don't have that in our family, right?" the last question she directed to Thomas, who stared at Jakob as if he could not believe what he had just witnessed.

Thomas then got up from his seat, walked over to his son, and hugged him, surprising everyone in the room.

"My son had the ability only known to a few of the most successful wizards in our time!"

Jakob, who looked very surprised, hugged back, and then Thomas turned to the rest.

"You will not utter a word about this to anyone outside this room. If the wrong people hear about this, it could be problematic for Jakob, as most people in Brittain are scared of this ability."

"I need to look up some information," Thomas said and then proceeded to walk out of the room with a smirk on his face.

Not everyone in that room took the information like Thomas, Susie and Feemey still looked scared, and Emma looked a bit jealous. The only one looking confused was Ella, who asked.

"What is so special about being able to talk to snakes?"

The meeting had pretty quickly ended after the question told by Ella, and everyone was heading to do their own thing.

Jakob sitting on his bed, had Saliza on his stomach. He said that now he had only waited for the right moment to introduce her, and she had questioned about his family members, which he gladly told her about.

When night came, Jakob lay in his bed. It was the first night without Pansy, and he felt the itch returning, but Saliza seemed to sense something and had crawled up on his bed, coiling herself around his arm and laying her head on his shoulder.

"Thank you, Saliza. It feels much better."

As the days progressed, Jakob tried his best to be with his sister and get to know his house elf. Emma, who had been jealous at the beginning of the Parlseltoughe, had calmed down, and now we're trying to read the book Jakob had bought that showed parsel magic.

Jakob had done his best to make a list of the alphabet, but some symbols were too hard to convert, but Emma had been very grateful to learn this new type of magic. And had multiple times a day knocked on his door when she had been stuck on something, and Jakob gladly helped his big sister.

One scorching hot day, he sat outside in his garden with Saliza and looked at her while she collected the sun's warmth.

"Don't you get too warm?" He said and touched the scale and felt that it was almost burning hot."

Saliza hissed. With Jakob understood, it was a pleasant sound and told the boy.

"This is enjoyable for me. I prefer the dark, but it feels like I'm eating when I can absorb the light like this."

Just when Jakob was about to continue, a voice was heard behind him.

"I did not know you had the gift shared by the greatest of Hogwarts four. And what a beautiful snake you have there, Jakob."

Jakob turned around slowly, trying to hide the panic he felt that he had been found out so easily and greeted her.

"I did not know you would arrive here today, Amy."

Authors note 2: Next chapter will see what Amy and Jakob can do when they are in their right element and not in school.

Then it will be Diagon-alley and back to Hogwarts for year two!

Saliza, I imagine, looks like a black viper with red eyes. The scale, however, has a much darker colour, almost like it absorbs the light shown on it.

She is a magical creature, and Jakob will find more information in the year to come.
