Future Glimpse 3: Ritual of Selection
"{Flare Burn}!" Finishing her chant, Fina shots a big fire ball at the distracted Galums. Her magic exploding on his front.
*Boom!*
"Ngh?!" Galmus staggers back a bit from the force, the heat washing over his body with fire burning on his person.
'Right there!' I quickly dashed towards the defending dwarven warrior side with my swords raised to strike, taking this opportune chance to incapacitate him.
*Swing*
*Clang!*
Even with the added distraction given to me, Galmus was able to block my strikes with the handle of his hammer.
"Tch!" I clicked my tongue, quickly disengaging out of range from his burly arm swing and keeping up a defensive stance as I try to get back to Argonaut and Fina.
'Tough guy were dealing with here, and has the reflexes to match up that strength. Damn, this is going to be hard if he keeps going after us.' I analyzed nervously, taking stock of our opponent and how long we can survive this.
"Hmph, I see. A cowardly human who is only good at running acts as bait. So his sister and friend can take down their foes with magic and swift strikes..." Galmus remarks, as he pats the linger embers and soot off his person, looking no worse for wear from taking Fina's fire magic head on. Galmus then lifts his hammer and prepares to charge at us again. "I am not sure if I am impressed by your tactic, but I suppose it works anyhow...for everybody else but me!"
"No...! I can't stop him! He's too tough!" Fina voiced out, looking quite scared that her magic barely did anything to Galmus. "It's not working! He is no joke!"
"Ngh...! I can tell he's a veteran skilled in warfare. His old age had us fooled!" Argonaut haggardly states.
'...No kidding. People from the Age of Heroes are something else.' I thought.
Galmus pauses, his face contorting from astonishment to annoyance and irritation. Looking like we struck some kind of nerve on him.
"A veteran, you said...?" Galmus slowly starts, before he grinds his teeth as his hands clenched his hammer tightly in a attempt to hold back his rage. "Old age?! Cut the nonsense!"
Then the dwarf loudly shouts at us something that took us by surprise.
"I'VE JUST TURNED 18!"
Argonaut, Fina and I were left floored and dumbfounded at that unexpected revelation.
"""Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!""" We shouted in unison.
Understandable so! How can he be that young with a face like that!? Even compared to the elves, his age is way too hard to read, and they live for ages!
"With a face and facial hair like that?!" I exclaimed. "There's no way! You're obviously joking!"
Honestly, what else am I supposed to say to that?!
Galmus turns his gaze back to me, with a very heated glare baring down on me.
I nervously gulped, mentally cursing myself for opening my big mouth. 'Uh-oh...'
"Oh, you insolent little-!" Galmus, in a surprise burst of speed that shouldn't even be possible for a dwarf, closed the distance between me and him as he has his hammer raised and going for a swing to my side. "GRAAAHHHH!"
"Shit!" I didn't have enough time to react or activate my magic, so I quickly brought up my swords to block and used [Armament] on them to increase their durability.
*Swing!*
*Clang!*
"Ghh?!" The force of Galmus's swing was too strong, that I sent right off my feet and pushed a distance away from him and my group. "WAAAHHHH?!"
"Ah! Oh no, Krono!" Fina shouted out.
I sorta flailed in the air, trying to regain some semblance of balance. I looked to see that I was about to crash onto someone.
"Watch out!" I yelled out, but it was too late. The two of us collided and were brought down onto the ground. With me on top.
"Ngh?!"
"Gah!"
*Crash!* *Thud!*
"Ugh...That sucked..." I groggily tried to push myself up. "O-Ow..." But that was a bad idea on my part, as my arms felt quite numb from blocking Galmus's attack. Which brought my upper body back down and my face being pressed onto something...soft and firm?
*Jiggle~*
'This feels...familiar...' I thought to myself, using my elbows to elevate myself enough to see that my face planted on a pair of...boobs. 'O-Oh...' My face was a deep red at this point, very much embarrassed at not only where my face was but also the compromising position I find myself on. My eyes darted over the persons body to see that she is an Amazoness. And as my eyes moved towards her face, my eyes locking onto a set of green. I was taken aback to see that despite the black veil covering the lower half of her face, this Amazoness shares quite a strong resemblance to a certain Amazoness I know.
'Tione...?' I deduced in thought, blown away to find another look alike in this past.
"..." The Amazoness silently looks directly into my eyes, looking quite neutral and stoic. Unbothered at our precarious position.
"U-Um...I..." A bit tongue tied, I tried to apologize to the tanned skinned woman, but my instincts were screaming inside of me to get away. Pushing myself up quickly, I jumped backed and brought my swords back up to defend.
*Swing*
*Clang!*
"Woah!" I yelped, distancing myself away from the Tione look alike. Keeping my eyes forward, fully alert of the potential danger I'm in.
The Amazon tried to cut me with a sinister looking blade in her hand, and slowly gets back up to her feet. She narrows her eyes slight in my direction, analyzing me from head to toe as she picks up her other blade on the ground.
"...Hmm, interesting." I was barely able to pick up what she she mumbled as she dashes towards me, her blades brandishing in a reverse grip as my body tenses to defend myself.
'Oh, not good!' I frantically start to parry, deflect and dodge the swift and precise slashes. My eyes glowing blue in activation of my magic just incase if I really need to use it.
And that's the end of the preview.
