The episode opened with morning footage of the island before the camera panned over to Chris sitting on a tree trunk surrounded by animals peacefully minding their own business. "Aaaah, who doesn't like morning in Muskoka? The fresh air, birds are singing, animals are getting their breakfast...This is what Northern Ontario has to offer..." Chris spoke in a calm and soothing voice with a smile on his face and his eyes closed.
"Welcome to the most dramatic and exciting episode yet!" Chris then suddenly exclaimed as he raised his arms in excitement, scaring away the animals around him. "It's been 8 long weeks at Camp Wawanakwa, and Total Drama Island is about to come to an end! We've seen 22 campers leave the island, which means we only have two left to fight it out for the prize of cheesy tabloid fame, a job hosting for their local late night talk show and of course, the small fortune of $100,000! Who will win? Kylie, the girl who was almost voted off first, or Zane, the guy who has arguably been the safest camper of them all? Grab a snack and take a bathroom break if you have to! We're about to enter the thrilling conclusion of Total...Drama...Island!" Chris finished as the show's intro proceeded to play one more time.
Two spotlights rose into the air and were turned on. A camera rose from the ground where a groundhog was lying on while another camera came out of a tree.
Dear mom and dad, I'm doing fine.
The camera zoomed across the camp before heading over the edge of the cliff and going underwater to show Kylie swimming there as a shark followed from behind. She then proceeded to bravely kick the shark in the face and swam away as the shark rubbed its snout in pain. The camera proceeded to rise to the surface of the water where Sasha was sitting in a motorboat that she had just fixed with a wrench and gave a small smile to the camera.
You guys are on my mind.
The camera then went into the forest to find Michelle playing a game on her handheld as Tessa was painting her doing this. However, she was soon disturbed by Regina sliding down a tree trunk on a skateboard and hopping over Michelle and Tessa, causing the trestle that Tessa's painting was standing on the collapse and the painting to fall onto her, covering her in paint before she looked at the camera in annoyance.
You asked me what I wanted to be,
The camera continued to follow Regina riding her skateboard through the forest as she passed by Miles, giving him a high five as she did so. Miles grinned as he gave Regina a thumbs up and then ran off into the forest.
And I think the answer is plain to see...
Hana was practicing her Judo moves in an open clearing in the forest. As she did so, she accidentally kicked against a wire which caused a platform in a tree above her to collapse and then a bucket of water fell onto her, soaking her judo gi. Hana was visibly upset as she looked around for any perpetrators before the camera zoomed out to reveal Kennedy and Mason hiding behind a rock, struggling to contain their laughter.
I wanna be famous.
The camera then began following Nathan and Melissa as they were jogging out of the forest and towards camp as they smiled at each other.
I wanna live close to the sun.
The camera then zoomed towards a waterfall where Valerie and Victoria were slap fighting with each other in a canoe which promptly fell off the waterfall with them inside. Socorro was standing on a wooden log and was horrified to see Valerie and Victoria fall down the waterfall, but then the log he was standing on collapsed underneath him as he fell as well.
Go pack your bags, 'cause I've already won.
The camera then turned to Zane leaning against the outhouse confessional as he was waiting for the person who occupied it to come out. Sybil then proceeded to come out of the outhouse as she and Zane looked at each other in awkward silence.
Everything to prove, nothing in my way.
The camera then went into the mess hall as Chef was preparing a meal in there. He smiled as he looked at Oliver and Aston, whom he had tied up with rope. Oliver and Aston nervously looked at each other before looking at Chef.
I'll get there one day.
The camera then turned to Dustin and Lester playing chess against each other, with Dustin winning the game as he raised his arms in victory as Lester just shrugged his shoulders, being indifferent to losing the game of chess.
'Cause I wanna be famous.
The scene then showed Cameron and Grayson at the beach, staring at Janson, who was lying on the beach before he splashed his bare torso with water, turning it to steam, causing Cameron to fan her face in admiration while Grayson shook his head in annoyance at his sister's reaction.
Na na na na na na, na na na na, na na na na na na.
The scene then then showed a seagull with plastic around its neck drifting on the water as a shark jumped over it before being pulled underwater by an octopus.
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!
The camera then turned to Johan, who was sitting on a stool on the Dock of Shame with his guitar as he began to play it. He then proceeded to throw his baseball cap into the air as the camera began to follow it. The scene then turned to nighttime as Johan was sitting at the campfire and caught his baseball cap again before putting it back on his head. Chris and Chef then showed up with marshmallows.
[Whistling] I wanna be, I wanna be famous.
The camera then zoomed out to show all 24 campers sitting around the campfire, as well as a sign that read "Total Drama Island" on it.
The scene then cut to Chris walking up to Camp Wawanakwa. "Welcome back to the finale of Total Drama Island! Before we head into our final challenge, we asked our two finalists to give their opinions on what life at Camp Wawanakwa was like the past 8 weeks!" The raven haired host explained.
-Confessional: Kylie-
"I've said it before, and I'll say it again: While staying at Camp Wawanakwa for the past 8 weeks has been painstakingly tedious at times, I was still grateful to have been along for the ride. I couldn't have found a better way to spend this year's summer than being on this show." The cheerleader spoke with a smile.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Zane-
"This journey through Total Drama Island has definitely been a journey filled with hardships, but it's definitely a journey that I undertook with a lot of pleasure. If they ever show re-runs of this season on TV in the future, it'll be like watching old memories. 'Cause regardless of if I will win or not, my participation on this show will always be that to me: Memories...that will last forever." Zane spoke with a warm smile.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Chef-
"While cookin' for 24 ungrateful nutcases all summer long definitely wasn't easy and I've definitely had better jobs in prison, I was grateful to have been employed as the camp chef and co-host for this show. And if Total Drama ever ends up gettin' renewed for a second season and they ask me to take the job again, I'll gladly do so." Chef gave his thoughts on his experience at Camp Wawanakwa.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Kylie-
"The food here was...insufficient, to put it mildly. I didn't know it was possible or legal to serve something like that three times a day, but I definitely respect Chef for putting up with us for the past 8 weeks. It's definitely not easy to deal with 24 wild and energetic kids running around and causing a ruckus while you have to stand over a hot furnace three times a day and make those kids food."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Zane-
"The food here at Camp Wawanakwa has definitely made me realize how much I appreciate my parents' homemade cooking. Seriously, when I was like 5 years old, I would throw a fit over having to eat the same stuff my parents made for three days in a row, but now that I've had to live off of Chef's stuff for 8 weeks, I definitely owe my parents an apology for the fits I threw over their cooking back then."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Chef-
"The kids always complained about their food not bein' good enough for their balanced healthy lifestyles. Those little shits probably didn't realize that this was a summer camp, and not a five star resort like what they were expectin' to be stayin' at for 8 weeks." Chef complained as he folded his arms in front of his chest.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Kylie-
"The people I met and spent my time with these past 8 weeks were definitely the best part about the whole experience here at Camp Wawanakwa. I've met so many great people that I'll no doubt remain in contact with after Total Drama Island wraps up and we all go home again. And I've also found myself somebody to love that I'll definitely remain in contact with once we go home. Aaaah, I love the people I spent the past 8 weeks with..." Kylie sighed in satisfaction as she had her hands behind her head and crossed her legs.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Zane-
"The people I met and spent the past 8 weeks with were definitely an interesting bunch. I might have only gotten to know like 90% of these people, but I'll definitely try and reach out to the people I didn't get to know and ask them how they are doing sometime after Total Drama Island wraps up and I end up going home again. But the one person I'll definitely remain in touch with after this show is the girl I've grown to love over the past few weeks. She's most likely the one for me." Zane spoke with a warm smile.
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Kylie-
"The one thing I will be remembered for on this show?" Kylie asked as she let out an inquisitive hum and thought about it. "Most likely my exuberant personality and my ability to survive multiple elimination ceremonies while being in the bottom two. Seriously, I've probably been in the bottom two at elimination ceremonies more than any other camper on this show, yet I've managed to survive every one of them and make it to where I'm at now."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Zane-
"What will I be remembered for on this show? Most likely my down to earth personality and the fact that I've never had a single vote cast against me at any elimination ceremony I've attended over the course of this show's runtime. Seriously, I've attended a lot of elimination ceremonies on this show and I've never had a single vote cast against me at any of those elimination ceremonies. Goes to show how nice and likeable I was during my time at camp."
-End Confessional-
We then switch to Chris and Chef standing at the starting line for the final challenge together with Kylie and Zane. "Kylie, Zane. Before we start this challenge, I want to congratulate the two of you for making it this far into the competition. You've managed to outlast 22 other campers and made it to final two, which means that today, the two of you get to fight it out in the final challenge to become the winner of Total Drama Island. As you know, the winner of Total Drama Island gets rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame, a job hosting for their local late night talk show, and of course, the small fortune of $100,000. The 22 campers you've outlasted to get here are probably all back home now right now, watching the two of you right now. If they're hearing you speak right now, what would you tell them that you're going to do with the money if you win?" Chris asked the final two campers.
Kylie thought about it. "If I win, I will save the money for my 18th birthday so I can live independently from my parents. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents with all my heart, but I want to prove to them that I can stand on my own two feet and live in my own house, pay my own bills and do everything an adult like themselves can do." The cheerleader admitted.
Chris and Chef nodded at Kylie's plans for the money. "That's a very responsible plan for the money, Kylie. Now, Zane. Over to you. What are you going to do with the money if you win?" Chris then asked Zane as he turned to the strategist.
"If I win, I will use the money to help my parents move out of the slums and get them securely into the middle class. Then, once we've gotten to that point, I'll try and get into college, which is something that's not on the cards in my current situation." Zane admitted.
Chris and Chef nodded again at Zane's plans for the money. "Also a very responsible plan for the money, Zane. Now that we've gotten your plans for the money out of the way, it's time to move on to the final challenge; The one thing standing in your way of claiming the money. The final challenge works like this: You're going to have to run a race around the entire island." Chris began to explain.
"Okay. What's next?" Kylie asked the raven haired host.
"During the race, you'll be running into multiple TV screens. When you run into such a TV screen, I will appear on it and ask you two a question about one of the eliminated campers. If you answer the question correctly, you may continue the race, but if you answer the question wrong, you get a 1 minute penalty and have to wait at the TV screen until that minute is up." Chris continued.
"Shouldn't be too hard, given that me and Kylie are pretty smart and have been observant of our fellow campers the past 8 weeks." Zane chimed in.
"Next, you come up to a cave. In this cave, you'll each find two torches you'll need to collect. These torches are being guarded by a grouchy bear that won't make it easy for you to collect the torches. Once you have the torches, you'll have to climb to the top of the highest mountain on the island. Here, you'll find a huge Total Drama Island logo waiting for you. The first camper who manages to use their torch to light the Total Drama Island logo on fire wins Total Drama Island as well as any of the prizes connected to winning." Chris concluded his explanation.
Kylie and Zane then turned to each other. "Baby, good luck at the final challenge. Remember: No matter who ends up winning this show, we've both already won because we became a couple, alright?" Kylie told her new boyfriend with a smile.
Zane smiled back and nodded in agreement. "You know it, baby. Even if one of us wins the money, that won't change the fact that I love you and you love me. We'll achieve our goals one way or another even if we don't win the money." He agreed with his new girlfriend and kissed her on the lips. The two lovers then prepared for the final challenge.
"Alright, on your marks...get set...GO!" Chris exclaimed as Kylie and Zane began running towards the first TV screen. As the two lovers were running towards the first TV screen, Kylie was reflecting on the journey she had made through the competition to get where she's at now.
A flashback began of Kylie's arrival at Camp Wawanakwa in the first episode. Having been told to dress up fancy for the first episode, Kylie arrived at the island wearing a red halter dress with a tutu style tool skirt and black suede ankle boot heels.
"Hey, Kylie! What's up?" Chris greeted Kylie as she walked up to him in the flashback.
Kylie glanced at the camp and then at the raven haired host. "You said we were gonna stay at a 5-star resort. So why are we at a summer camp?" She asked Chris in the flashback.
"Oh yeah, about that. You will be staying at this summer camp. As for me, I'll be staying at an airstream with AC, that way." Chris replied as he pointed in the direction of his airstream with AC in the flashback.
As Kylie was in thought while she ran towards the first TV screen, another flashback began of Kylie refusing to jump off the cliff during the first challenge.
"I'm not doing this either, man. I hate the ocean." Kylie said in the flashback.
"Alright, then here's your chicken hat." Chris chuckled as he handed a chicken hat to Kylie in the flashback.
"Sorry, guys..." Kylie groaned as some of the Killer Bass were making chicken noises at her in the flashback.
Kylie was staring at the sky as she kept running towards the first TV screen, and another flashback began of the first campfire ceremony, which she had to attend as a result of her team losing the first challenge.
"Killer Bass...at any other summer camp, marshmallows are a tasty, gooey treat that you like to roast above a campfire. But at this summer camp, marshmallows represent your life force in the competition. You've all cast your votes and made your decision. I've only got 11 marshmallows on this plate. When I call your name, come up here and claim your marshmallow. The camper who does not receive a marshmallow tonight must immediately return to the Dock of Shame and board the Boat of Losers. And that means you're out of the game, and can never come back. Ever." Chris did his first monologue at the first campfire ceremony in the flashback before the flashback cut to Kylie and Aston in the bottom two at the first campfire ceremony.
"Campers...this...is the final marshmallow of the evening." Chris said in the flashback before the flashback quickly cut to giving it great thought before pointing at the last camper who was safe. "Kylie, you're safe too." The raven haired host told the cheerleader who sighed in relief and grabbed the final marshmallow off the plate.
We then see a flashback of Kylie sharing her worst fears with the other campers at the campfire pit. "The ocean. And not because I'm afraid of sharks like Melissa is, I just don't like the ocean." Kylie admitted in the flashback.
The flashback then cut to Kylie standing on top of the 1000-foot tall cliff in her swimwear. "Alright, Kylie. If you manage to swim around in the ocean for 10 minutes without leaving the water, you score a point for your team. Doesn't sound too hard, doesn't it?" Chris asked the cheerleader with a smirk on his face in the flashback.
"You can do it, Kylie. I believe in you." Socorro told Kylie in the flashback with a reassuring smile.
"I believe in you too, Kylie. You got this." Tessa added in the flashback with a reassuring smile.
"Yeah, you'll have those 10 minutes in the bag before you know it!" Kennedy beamed in the flashback.
"Alright, thanks for the support, guys...You're right, I can do this..." Kylie took a deep breath to calm her nerves and dove off the cliff in the flashback. The flashback then switched to Kylie running out of the water before the 10 minute mark.
"Well, Kylie failed to complete her challenge, which means the Screaming Gophers are still in the lead with 5-3!" Chris announced in the flashback as Lester facepalmed in annoyance.
The flashback then cut to the Killer Bass deciding who to vote for after they lost the fears challenge. "Well, let's see...Which campers didn't finish their challenges today? It would only be fair if one of those campers leaves tonight." Socorro chimed in in the flashback.
"That would be...Kylie, Kennedy and myself." Tessa then spoke in the flashback.
"Alright. In that case, it would be one of you three girls." Socorro suggested in the flashback.
The flashback then cut to Tessa and Kylie being in the bottom two at the campfire ceremony. "Tessa, Kylie...This...is the final marshmallow of the evening." Chris told the girls in the flashback. "Kylie." Chris then said as he tossed Kylie her marshmallow, which she proceeded to eat with a bitter feeling.
The flashback then cut to Kylie meeting up with Zane during the orchestra episode. "Hi, Zane!" Kylie happily greeted Zane in the flashback.
The strategist looked up at her and smiled at her. "Oh, hello, Kylie. How's this fine day treating you?" He asked the cheerleader in a friendly tone of voice in the flashback.
"Oh, just fine, thanks for asking! What about you?" Kylie asked with a curious tilt of her head in the flashback.
"Pretty good, under the circumstances. I mean, in the timespan of about a week, I lost about two friends at the campfire ceremony; Valerie and Sybil. I understand why it had to be done, but it still stings to see the good friends I had made during the competition take their leave after we've spent all this time bonding." Zane explained to her in the flashback.
Kylie frowned upon hearing that. "Awwww, I'm so sorry to hear that, Zane! But if it makes you feel any better, you can always hang out with me, Regina, Nathan and Melissa if you want! You might be a former Gopher, but now that the teams are no longer around, we can always welcome someone from another team into our tight knit group!" She offered in the flashback.
Zane thought about it for a moment and nodded. "I would appreciate that. I'll be seeing you and the other people from the former Bass team around." He replied with a smile in the flashback.
"Alright, see you later, Zane!" Kylie smiled and waved before leaving in the flashback.
Finally, the flashback cut to Kylie and Zane becoming a couple after Miles' departure in the semi-finals episode. Zane proceeded to hug Kylie. "Thank you...Thank you for taking me with you to the finale...You have no idea how much this means to me..." The strategist told Kylie in the flashback in a grateful tone of voice.
Kylie smiled and returned the hug. "It was my pleasure, Zane. Anything for a guy as good as you." The cheerleader told him in the flashback before the flashback cut to Kylie and Zane kissing. The flashback then ended as Kylie was staring up at the sky with a smile on her face and her eyes were huge and sparkling.
"Kylie? Kylie!" Zane spoke to snap Kylie out of her train of thought. "We're at the first TV screen." The strategist informed her.
"Huh? Oh, sorry. I was in another world for a moment." Kylie admitted with a dorky and embarrassed grin on her face.
-Confessional: Kylie-
"On the way to the first TV screen, I was just reflecting on the journey I had made through the competition to get where I'm at now. And I think it's needless to say, but I made a lot of memories this summer that will stay with me forever 'till the day I die. No doubt about it." Kylie sighed happily.
-End Confessional-
"Alright, now that Kylie has snapped out of her daydream, it's time for the first question! Which camper has a mother who is homosexual?" Chris asked the finalists as they began thinking about their answer before Zane pointed his left index finger in the air.
"Michelle!" Zane exclaimed.
Chris checked his card and gave a thumbs up in approval. "Correct, Zane! You may proceed with the race, while Kylie has to wait at this TV screen for a minute before she can continue the race!" The raven haired host announced.
"I'll see you soon, baby?" Zane asked Kylie with a smile.
"Of course you will, baby." Kylie smiled back.
"Cool. See you soon." Zane smiled back again before running off.
-Confessional: Zane-
"I happened to know the answer to that question because back when Michelle was still on the island, I was taking a shower when I overheard Michelle and Sasha having a conversation about their families. As I said, it pays off being observant about your fellow campers in cases of trivial challenges like this." The strategist explained.
-End Confessional-
A flashback then started of Zane overhearing Michelle and Sasha's conversation in the communal washroom. The camera was focused on Zane's shower stall as the strategist was whistling a tune while he was washing himself in the shower.
"S-S-So your m-m-mother is h-h-homosexual and dates w-w-women...? And you've known this since your f-f-freshman year of high school...?" Sasha asked Michelle inside the flashback before the camera panned over to Michelle doing Sasha's hair in front of a mirror.
"Yeah. But some of the women she dates don't care about her and only see her as a free ticket to get things like gifts or food or some materialistic selfish bullshit like that. That's why I'm a bit strict about getting into romantic relationships myself. But enough about me. What about you? What's your family like?" Michelle asked Sasha in the flashback.
"W-Well...M-My d-dad is a s-system engineer who developed many m-major computer programs, a-and I guess I inherited his t-talents, b-because I one day found an i-incomplete information retrieval system that u-utilized voice input, and I modified it by myself, a-and that's where I realized how g-gifted I was with computer p-programming..." Sasha admitted in the flashback.
"Really, huh? I bet your dad was proud of you for that!" Michelle beamed at Sasha in the flashback.
"H-He was...I now make a l-living off of programming things for c-computers...I-I even managed to build my own pet r-rabbit back home..." Sasha told her in the flashback.
"Well, it was interesting having this conversation with you, Sasha! Glad we could learn more about each other's home lives!" Michelle smiled as she finished doing Sasha's hair. "So, what do you think of this?" She then asked Sasha.
Sasha gasped shyly as she looked at what Michelle did. "W-Wow...T-That looks amazing, M-Michelle...T-Thank you..." She shyly smiled.
"Glad you like it! Let's show it to the other girls on our team!" Michelle smiled back as the girls proceeded to take their leave. The camera then panned back to Zane's shower stall as the strategist turned off his shower.
"Huh. The more you know." Zane remarked before the flashback ended.
The scene then switched to Kylie waiting at the TV screen until her time penalty was up. An alarm then sounded as Chris' voice came onto the loudspeaker. "Alright, Kylie! Your time penalty is up, you may resume the race!" The raven haired host's voice echoed over the island as Kylie quickly took off to try and catch up to Zane. Before long, she had managed to catch up to the strategist.
Zane smiled as he turned to Kylie. "Hey, baby. Looks like you managed to catch up to me soon enough."
Kylie smiled back and nodded. "You know it! Let's try and reach the next TV screen so we can get started on the next question!" The cheerleader replied to her boyfriend as they ran towards the next TV screen.
We then skip to Kylie and Zane standing at the next TV screen, and Chris had already appeared on it to ask the next question. "Which camper, other than Michelle has an interest in video games?" Chris asked the finalists, and Kylie was quick to answer that question.
"Aston!" Kylie quickly answered as Chris checked his card and nodded in approval.
"Correct, Kylie! You may continue the race, while Zane has to wait for a minute at this TV screen before he can continue!" Chris announced.
"See you soon, baby!" Kylie winked at Zane before taking off.
"Yeah, see you soon, baby!" Zane smiled and waved at his girlfriend.
-Confessional: Kylie-
"In the short time that Aston was on the island, I managed to strike up a conversation with him, which is how I managed to know about his interest in video games." Kylie explained.
-End Confessional-
A flashback then started of the Killer Bass throwing a party at the campfire pit, courtesy of Mason. As most of the Killer Bass were enjoying themselves at the party, Aston sat at a bit of a distance away from his team, reading a book. Kylie then walked up to him with a smile on her face.
"Hi, Aston. Mind if I sit here with you so you don't feel alone?" Kylie asked Aston in the flashback.
Aston looked up from his book and thought about it. "As long as you don't touch me, feel free to sit here." He nodded. Kylie nodded back and sat down next to him.
"So, what's your home life like?" Kylie then asked Aston to try and start a conversation with him.
"It's nothing special. I'm just a shut-in child of rich parents and have always been one. I also like video games, puzzles, television and reading. My parents and I have been watching reality shows such as Total Drama for a good number of years now, and when auditions for Total Drama Island opened up, my parents signed me up against my will in the hopes of me becoming famous." Aston explained.
Kylie nodded in understanding. "Yeah, Socorro and the guys told me about you being here against your own will. I'm glad they managed to convince you to not drop out on the first day though. That'd be such a waste of casting on the producers' part." She replied.
Aston nodded in agreement. "Yeah. The only reason I'm staying here is because I wouldn't want to break the hearts of people who really wanted to be on this show but couldn't if I were to quit on Day 1. But enough about me. What's your home life like?" The OCD asked the cheerleader.
"If I had to describe it in one word? Chaotic. That's what my home life is like. My parents divorced when I was like 13, and I've been living a double life ever since. For one half of the year, I live with my mom where I'm the best flyer on my school's cheerleading team, and the other half of the year, I live with my dad where I spend most of my time around motorcycles. I've had a few boyfriends that taught me a thing or two about motorcycles in the past, and I think that those motorcycle related skills will be useful to me in the future." Kylie explained to him.
Aston nodded again. "Sounds like you have a way more exciting life than I do." He remarked.
"I suppose so. It's difficult finding a balance between those two lives though, but I manage to put up with it." Kylie nodded back.
"That's nice. I have to say that I'm grateful for this conversation. Due to my shut-in nature, I don't really talk to people other than my parents that much. So thank you for taking the time to talk to me like this." Aston told Kylie as he looked at the cheerleader with a slight smile.
Kylie smiled back and nodded. "No problem, Aston! If you didn't have OCD, I'd give you a high five or a fist bump, but a thumbs up should be good enough!" The cheerleader replied as she gave Aston a thumbs up, which the OCD happily returned. The flashback then proceeded to end.
We then see Zane standing at the TV screen in anticipation of the end of his time penalty, which proceeded to end as an alarm sounded and Zane quickly took off to catch up to Kylie.
-Confessional: Chris-
"The first part of the finale wasn't that special. Kylie answered a question right, and Zane got a time penalty. Zane answered a question right, and Kylie got a time penalty. You get the idea. So let's skip to the next part of the challenge so we won't have too much filler content for this finale."
-End Confessional-
Kylie and Zane were now standing in front of a cave. "Alright, finalists! You've made it to the next part of the final challenge: Collecting a torch from a grouchy bear!" Chris announced before the camera cut into the cave and showed a grouchy bear standing in front of a wall that held the two torches Kylie and Zane needed, folding its arms in front of its chest. "As I mentioned before, this bear is guarding the torches you need to set the Total Drama Island logo on fire in the final part of the challenge, and that bear isn't going to make it easy for you to obtain those torches! Fight your way through that bear or go for a more subtle approach, it doesn't matter, as long as you manage to obtain those torches!" Chris announced over the loudspeaker.
Kylie and Zane looked at each other. "You ready for this?" Zane asked Kylie.
"Ready as I'll ever be. If we can survive all of the wildlife that Northern Ontario has managed to throw at us over the course of this summer, then a silly old bear shouldn't be much of an issue for us, wouldn't you think?" Kylie replied to him.
Zane nodded in agreement. "Good point. Well, let's do this so we can move on to the final part of the challenge." The strategist replied back as the finalists proceeded to head into the cave. As him and Kylie were walking through the cave to try and find their torches, Zane was also reflecting on the journey he had made through the competition to get where he's at now.
A flashback began of Zane's arrival at Camp Wawanakwa in the first episode. Zane proceeded to get off the yacht in his formal attire, which consisted of a standard black and white tuxedo with a dark purple flower on the lapel.
"Hey, Zane! Welcome to the island, man!" Chris greeted Zane as the strategist walked up to him in the flashback.
"Thanks, Chris. Glad to be on your show." Zane smiled at the raven haired host before noticing the summer camp. "Hey, is this a summer camp?" He asked Chris.
"Uh-huh." Chris nodded as Zane shrugged in response.
"As long as I don't run into too many bugs, I'm game." Zane replied as he walked over to the rest of the campers.
The flashback then switched to Zane representing the Screaming Gophers in the glider challenge. The Gophers began to build up momentum as they launched Zane and his glider into the air, and the strategist began to battle against Regina, who was representing the Killer Bass in the challenge.
We then see Zane flying his glider upside down as a result of Regina pushing him. "H-H-He's using that push from Regina to his a-a-advantage..." Sasha said as she watched in shock.
"He's one smart guy, I'll give him that." Oliver remarked as he watched too.
We then cut to a few shots of Regina and Zane dogfighting with their gliders in the sky before we switch to Chris revealing to the teams who won the glider challenge.
"Let's see...Regina gathered a total of...1100 points!" Chris spoke as the Killer Bass began to cheer. "But! Zane scored a total of 1295 points! That means the Screaming Gophers win their second challenge in a row!" Chris then said as the Screaming Gophers began to cheer.
The flashback then went to Zane conversing with Valerie during the Fright Factor episode. "Nice necklace you got there, Val." Zane told Valerie in the flashback with a smile.
Valerie giggled. "Gracias, Zane. This necklace has both my initials and that of my girlfriend Brooke Sinclair in them. It's a sign of our love and how we'll always be together no matter what." She replied to Zane in the flashback with a smile.
Zane smiled even more at that. "Really, huh? I didn't take for you to be the type to like girls." He replied back.
"Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, amigo. You probably wouldn't expect a girl with my kind of build to be into girls, huh?" Valerie asked him.
"Not really, no. But hey, if you're happy with Brooke, all is well, am I right?" Zane asked with a shrug.
"Indeed. I just wish that all those perverts would leave me alone...That's one thing I hate about my big bust..." Valerie sighed.
"Don't worry about it, Val. Maybe one day they'll leave you alone." Zane said with a reassuring smile.
Valerie smiled back. "You're right, Zane. Maybe they will one day." She chuckled as she high fived Zane.
The flashback then cut to Zane, Valerie, Cameron and Janson playing frisbee on the beach in the talent show episode. "You know, that was quite a shocking vote last night. I didn't think Victoria out of all people on our team would get the boot at the campfire last night." Zane said to the others as he threw the frisbee towards Cameron.
Valerie shrugged. "Meh, it wasn't all that shocking to me. Muchacha had it coming after she tried to steal Johan away from Sybil in an attempt to crush that poor girl's heart." She replied as she caught the frisbee from Cameron.
Zane looked surprised upon hearing this. "Wait, really?" He asked in a surprised tone of voice.
Cameron nodded in acknowledgement. "Didn't the others tell you what happened? Janson saw Victoria and Johan hanging out together at the campfire pit during that hot tub party last night, and he told everyone Victoria was planning to steal Johan away from Sybil in an attempt to crush her heart." She told Zane.
Janson nodded in agreement as well. "Indeed. That's why a majority of us voted against Victoria to get her out of the game so she wouldn't succeed in her malicious scheme." He chimed in.
Zane was shocked to find out that he was in the minority with the voting last night, but managed to hide it with a serious face. "I see...It's unfortunate that things had to end like they did, but perhaps it was for the best." He said.
Valerie, Cameron and Janson nodded in agreement. "Indeed. Now it's another day on this island, with another dumb challenge that Chris has in store for us. A veces no está del todo bien de la cabeza..." Valerie then muttered under her breath as the flashback switched yet again.
We then see Sybil writing in her diary as Zane walked up to her. Sybil then looked up at Zane, noticing his arrival. "Oh, it's you, Zane. Something the matter?" The ingenue asked the strategist.
Zane nodded in response. "Yeah. Can we talk for a moment?" He asked her.
"About what?" Sybil asked him back as she raised an eyebrow.
"It's about the elimination ceremony the other night. A majority of our team voted out Victoria, and Valerie, Cameron and Janson claimed because it was because of Victoria trying to steal Johan away from you in an attempt to crush your heart, but I can't help but feel that there's more to the matter than they say there is, so I came to you for answers." Zane told her.
Sybil sighed, knowing that she couldn't hide the truth from Zane. "Please don't tell Johan I told you this, okay?" She told the strategist.
"I won't." Zane assured her.
"You see, I think you've noticed from me being around Johan a lot that I'm in love with him. And during that hot tub party the other night, I saw Johan hanging out with Victoria at the campfire pit, and I became jealous of that. It sounds like Valerie, Cameron and Janson are making up a whole lot of stories." Sybil told Zane, angry at the thought that Janson misused her jealousy for his own personal gain and roped Cameron and Valerie into his scheme.
Zane was surprised at this, but hid it with a serious expression before nodding at Sybil. "And...did you happen to vote for Victoria as well because you were jealous of her hanging with Johan?" He then asked the ingenue.
Sybil looked guilty and hung her head in shame. "Yes, I did...Please don't tell Johan that I did, I'm afraid he'll hate me if he finds out..." She pleaded.
"I haven't been around Johan much during our time on the island so far, but from what I've noticed, he's a chill dude. I'm sure he won't get mad if you tell him the truth. If you try to bury the truth, you'll only get tied up further in a web of lies that'll only make things worse." Zane told her.
Sybil nodded at that, smirking a bit at Zane, although it was a friendly smirk and not a malicious one. "Thanks, Zane. You're a real stand-up guy, you know that? I can see why the rest of the Gophers would like you so much." She told the strategist.
Zane smiled at that. "Anytime, Sybil. I try to be." He replied to her.
"Well, I'll see if I can find the right time to tell Johan the truth. Until then, don't tell him what I told you. I want to tell him myself." Sybil replied back to him.
Zane nodded at that. "Until then, the secret's safe with me." He assured her, even making a "Speak no evil" gesture.
"Alright. Will I see you at the stage?" Sybil then asked Zane.
"Yeah. See you there." Zane nodded as he walked away again.
The flashback then flashed to Sybil, Johan and Zane walking through a music store, looking for a new guitar for Johan to buy. Zane had tagged along with the soon-to-be couple at the request of Sybil because the ingenue wanted him to be there when she told Johan the truth.
"Look at all these expensive guitars, Sybil. I wouldn't know where to start looking for a new guitar for me to start playing on." Johan said with a chuckle.
Sybil nodded. "I wouldn't know either." She replied before looking to Zane as if to ask the strategist if now was the right time to tell Johan the truth, with the strategist nodding in approval, and Sybil nodded back as she turned to Johan, taking a deep breath. "Johan, I have to confess you something..." The ingenue began as she, Johan and Zane stopped walking.
"...And that is?" Johan asked curiously as he raised an eyebrow.
"Look, Victoria's elimination the other night...It was all my fault. When I saw you and Victoria at the campfire pit together that night, I got jealous, and me and a bunch of other members of our team decided to vote Victoria out...I was unaware that the two of you were together at the campfire pit that night to write me a song...Johan, I love you, and I was afraid to tell you that I voted out Victoria because of my jealousy getting the best of me...I was afraid to tell you this because I was afraid as to how you'd react..." Sybil told Johan.
Johan blinked and took a moment to take in the information that Sybil had told him. "Sybil, if you had just told me that you were in love with me and that you were jealous of me and Victoria hanging out together in the first place, then Victoria wouldn't be back at home right now. We could've found a solution to prevent all of this from happening." Johan told Sybil.
Sybil nodded, a great sense of guilt forming on her face. "I know, I know...Can you find it in your heart to forgive me...?" She asked Johan as she looked him in the eyes.
"Of course, Sybil. Just...don't do such crazy things again out of love, alright?" Johan asked with a smile.
Sybil smiled and nodded. "I won't, Johan. You have my word." She replied as she gave Johan a hug. Zane couldn't help but smile at this.
The flashback then went over to Zane joining Janson's guys only alliance in the first post-merge episode. "Alright, gentlemen. We must get down to business before the ladies return from their weekend retreat." Janson began to speak.
"What kind of business?" Nathan asked him curiously.
"Think about it, Nathan: There's seven ladies left in the game, and only five of us gentlemen. We're practically in the minority here, and those ladies are closer than family, so they would never even think of voting each other out at the campfire ceremonies that are to come going forward. They will be picking us gentlemen off one by one until there's only ladies left in the game, and after that, it's every lady for themselves. That's why I suggest that the five of us gentlemen form a men only alliance and band together to take out the ladies one by one until they're no longer a threat. Are you gentlemen all with me?" Janson asked his fellow male campers after explaining the deal to them, holding out his hand.
Miles thought about it before putting his hand on Janson's. "I'm with you." The brunette replied to the handsome Singaporean teen.
Lester put his hand on Miles'. "I'm with you guys too." He chimed in.
Zane gave it great thought before putting his hand on Lester's. "Alright, I'm with you too." The four of them looked over at Nathan, giving him a "Well?" kind of look.
Nathan looked conflicted of being in a guys only alliance, but eventually made his decision and put his hand on top of Zane's. "Alright, I'm with you guys on this too." He said.
"Very well. Then I hereby declare our men only alliance confirmed." Janson stated as the guys raised their hands into the air to confirm their alliance.
We then see Valerie being eliminated at the campfire ceremony, as some of the campers, including Valerie herself gasped in shock. "Why? Why me?" Valerie asked in disbelief.
Regina shrugged. "Just like Chris over there said: You've become a very dangerous player with how strong, smart and athletic you are, as well as your strange set of skills. It's every camper for himself now, and we definitely don't want to compete against a player as skilled as you are." She bluntly stated.
"Valerie, the Dock of Shame awaits." Chris told the Mexican teen as he gestured towards the Dock of Shame as Zane walked up to Valerie.
"Valerie, it was an honor competing alongside you on this show for the past four weeks or so. Will we meet again back in the real world?" The strategist asked the Mexican teen.
Valerie smiled and nodded before giving Zane a hug. "It's a done deal, hombre. I'm sure Brooke would be glad to meet you. For now, I must say goodbye." She said before pulling away from the hug and getting up from her seat and walking down the Dock of Shame.
The flashback then cut to the following episode, where Zane and the other campers were trying to unmask the last traitor. "Well, I have no idea how else to prove that I'm not the traitor." Zane replied before the campers heard an evil giggle. They looked over to see that the giggle came from Sybil.
"This game was fun while it lasted, and it felt good to get some karmic justice on Janson and Miles for getting Johan out of the game a few weeks ago, but the gig is up. It's time for me to win this challenge." Sybil spoke with a smirk.
"Sybil...You were the traitor." Zane spoke, being surprised despite still looking and sounding calm.
"You finally noticed, huh? Yes, it was me who took out pretty much all of the other campers. I took out Michelle, I took out Cameron, and I took out Melissa. I convinced Regina to let me do the work of taking out the other campers because I had a score to settle with Cameron and Michelle for being involved in voting out Johan." Sybil explained as she put her feet up on the table, continuing to smirk.
"But what about Melissa? I don't recall you having any beef with her whatsoever." Kylie replied.
"Oh, I simply took her out for being a threat. After all, it's every camper for themselves now, and I want to make sure I get far enough into the game to get revenge on Janson and Miles for voting out Johan a few weeks ago, and if that means knocking people who didn't do anything to me out of the challenge, so be it." Sybil explained.
Zane looked at Kylie and Lester, who nodded before the three of them typed Sybil's name into the computer screen and submitted their answer before Kylie quickly pressed the button, causing Sybil to be electrocuted as the ingenue dropped to the ground, paralyzed. The green light on her collar then lit up, confirming what Sybil said.
We then skip forward to the next campfire ceremony where Sybil was eliminated as the ingenue sighed in defeat. "I feared this would happen...I guess I let my desire for revenge get the best of me today, and it costed me my place in the game..." Sybil spoke as she got up from her seat. "Guys, I apologize if I hurt any of you today. But Johan's elimination a few weeks ago still stings, and I guess it stung so hard today that I let my heart grow dark as a result of it, and that's not who I am at all." The ingenue told the remaining 10 campers.
"Well, learning that lesson not only cost you your place in the game, but it'll also leave your friends you'll leave behind in much pain. Sybil, the Dock of Shame awaits." Chris told the ingenue before the scene cut to Sybil standing on board of the Boat of Losers as it took off into the distance.
"Good luck, guys! I believe in you!" Sybil called to the remaining 10 campers standing on the Dock of Shame before the Boat of Losers was eventually out of sight.
The flashback then flashed over to the psycho killer as Zane was sitting at the mess hall, eating a footlong sandwich when a real psycho killer was standing in front of him, and the strategist took notice of this.
"Uh, hello there. Are you lost or something?" Zane asked the homicidal maniac in confusion as he didn't receive a response and the strategist's eyes widened in realization at what was going on. "Oh no..." Zane gulped as the door of the mess hall flew open.
"Zane! It's a real homicidal maniac!" Everyone yelled in unison as the homicidal maniac raised his machete to try and kill the strategist, and Zane reacted immediately by kicking the homicidal maniac in the kiwis, causing the homicidal maniac to keel over and drop to the ground, clutching his groin in pain.
Everyone stared in shock at what just happened before looking back at Zane. "Are you okay...?" Chris asked Zane.
"I suppose so..." Zane replied, being just as shocked as everyone else.
The flashback then cut to Kylie and Zane's conversation in the orchestra episode as well as them becoming a couple in the semi-finals episode which we won't be showing in detail because that was already shown in Kylie's flashbacks.
The flashback then ended as Zane was smiling with his eyes closed before he was snapped out of his train of thought by Kylie snapping her fingers in front of his face. "Yoo-hoo! This isn't the time for daydreaming, silly! One of us has a challenge to win!" Kylie giggled at her boyfriend.
Zane chuckled sheepishly. "Yeah, sorry about that. I was just thinking about things." He blushed in embarrassment before the finalists suddenly heard the sound of snoring. "Listen. That must be the bear that was supposed to guard the torches." Zane whispered to Kylie.
Kylie nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Guess it dozed off in the middle of its watch." She whispered back.
"I have an idea. This might be a finale, but I think we're going to need each other's help in getting those torches. How about I lift you up so you can get the torches? After that, it's a race to the finish. Sound good?" Zane whispered back, explaining his plan to Kylie.
Kylie nodded again. "That works for me." The cheerleader agreed as she began to sneak towards the lair of the bear with Zane in tow. They soon arrived there, and saw the bear curled up in a ball, its head resting on a pillow and a smile on its face as if it was having a good dream. The torches were on the wall behind the sleeping bear.
"Shhhh..." Zane shushed Kylie as the two finalists proceeded to sneak past the bear and the strategist took the cheerleader on his shoulders as she proceeded to grab the torches off the wall. Zane then lowered himself again so Kylie could get off. She then handed one of the torches to Zane.
"Okay, we got the torches. Now let's get out of here." Kylie whispered to Zane as the strategist nodded in agreement and the two finalists proceeded to sneak past the bear again, but Zane accidentally farted in the bear's face, causing the bear to wake up and glare at the finalists. The bear then stood up and roared.
"Shit! Run!" Kylie yelled before she and Zane proceeded to run out of the cave with the torches in their hands.
-Confessional: Kylie-
"I don't know what Chef put in his food when he made it this morning, but it certainly can't be healthy if it got Zane passing gas around."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Zane-
"Ever since breakfast this morning, I've been a bit gassy. Must've been something I ate."
-End Confessional-
-Confessional: Chef-
"Looks like those baked beans I put into the kids' breakfast meal this morning were stomached pretty well."
-End Confessional-
"Alright, finalists! Now that you've obtained your torches, it's time for the final part of the challenge! All that's left is for you is to climb to the top of the highest mountain on the island with your torches to set the Total Drama Island logo on fire! The first camper to succeed with this will go home with a cash amount of $100,000! Make sure that's you!" Chris announced over the loudspeaker.
Kylie and Zane looked at each other. "Good luck, baby." Kylie smiled at Zane.
"You too, baby." Zane smiled back before the two finalists began climbing to the top of the highest mountain on the island as fast as they could. And before you knew it, the two finalists had made it to the top of the mountain, where Chris and Chef were waiting for them next to the Total Drama Island logo. Chris had a silver suitcase in his hands.
"Alright, the moment of truth! Who will win Total Drama Island? Let's find out..." Chris said as Kylie and Zane ran over to the Total Drama Island logo.

The Total Drama Island logo was set on fire, and Chris and Chef's mouths fell open in happiness. "The winner is...Zane!" Chris announced as Zane grinned and raised his arms in victory, letting out a scream of joy. Kylie walked up to him and smiled, clapping for her boyfriend's victory.
-Confessional: Zane-
"From a kid wearing hand me downs and getting used school supplies to a hundred grand winner?! Total Drama Island is the best thing to ever happen to me! If Total Drama ever ends up doing an All-Stars season and they ask me to compete on it, I would definitely say yes, because this has been an amazing experience!" The strategist cheered happily.

-Confessional: Kylie-
"Does it hurt that I didn't win? A little bit, but look on the bright side: I got myself a loving boyfriend, I made a lot of good friends, and I managed to finish in second place out of 24 people. So even though I didn't win the money, at least I can look back on this adventure with satisfaction in what I've managed to achieve during this adventure." The cheerleader spoke with a smile.
-End Confessional-
Once Zane was finished celebrating his victory, he turned to Kylie with a smile, and the cheerleader returned that smile. "Congratulations, baby! You won Total Drama Island!" Kylie beamed at her boyfriend.
"Thanks, baby! I was happy to have gone through this final challenge with you by my side! I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!" Zane beamed back before he pulled Kylie closer and kissed her on the lips. "But what about you? How are you feeling right now?" He then asked Kylie as he began to look a bit worried about his girlfriend's emotional well-being.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me. Sure, it hurts a little bit that I didn't win, but at least I've got you, I've got the friends I made along the way, and the memories of the journey I made to get here. That's good enough for me. And besides, as you've said yourself: I'll be able to achieve my goals one way or another even without this show. I'll just have to work harder to achieve those goals." Kylie told her boyfriend with a reassuring smile.
That put Zane at ease as the strategist smiled back at his girlfriend. "Okay, if you say so, then your words please me." He replied before kissing Kylie on the lips again.
The scene then cut to the final campfire ceremony at night. Kylie and Zane were both dressed in their formal wear, and even Chris and Chef were dressed more formally, with Chris now wearing a white dress shirt underneath a black waistcoat with a red bowtie, black dress pants and black dress shoes and Chef wearing a white t-shirt underneath an unzipped black leather jacket, stonewashed black jeans and white trainers along with a black flat cap on his head.
"Here we are, at the final camp ceremony ever. After 8 brutal weeks, I'm proud to announce the winner of Total Drama Island: Zane!" Chris spoke as Zane grinned and raised his arms in victory once more. "Zane, as promised, here's the cash amount of $100,000. All yours." Chris continued as he handed Zane the silver suitcase with the money inside. Zane opened up the suitcase and found $100,000 in cash inside, just like Chris said.
"Wow...I can't believe this is real..." Zane said in awe as he ran his fingers across the dollar bills. It was definitely real. "Thanks, Chris. Looks like you really kept your word about the money." The strategist then smiled at the raven haired host.
Chris smiled and nodded. "And in addition to the money, you also receive the ultimate symbol of survival: The final marshmallow!" The raven haired host added as he handed Zane the final marshmallow.
Zane looked at the marshmallow in awe. "Wow...I'll treasure this forever and ever..." The strategist remarked as he put the marshmallow away safely.
"Now, I think it's time for you guys to get on the Boat of Losers and head back to the mainland. I'm sure your families back home are waiting for you, and they're no doubt proud of what you've achieved here this summer." Chris told the finalists with a smile as him, Chef, Kylie and Zane began to head towards the Dock of Shame as Chef got behind the wheel of the Boat of Losers and Kylie and Zane stepped on board.
"Thanks for everything, Chris! Even though you were a bit of a dick this summer, we were still grateful to have you around!" Kylie smiled and waved at Chris.
"Yeah, hopefully we'll meet again sometime back in the real world!" Zane chimed in as he also smiled and waved at Chris.
Chris smiled back and nodded. "Alright, thanks for everything from me too! Have a safe trip homeward!" The raven haired host replied as the Boat of Losers took off from the Dock of Shame as he waved Kylie and Zane off. He then turned towards the camera.
"And with that, we've come to the end of Season 1 of the hottest new reality show on television! On behalf of the producers, the camera crew, the interns, all of the campers and Chef, I would like to thank you, the viewers back home for having joined us here at Camp Wawanakwa for the past 8 weeks to see who would be the last one standing! This show wouldn't have been possible without you! I'm Chris McLean, and this has been a wonderful season of...Total...Drama...Island!" Chris happily finished as the season ended with a shot of Camp Wawanakwa at night.

And that was the final regular episode of Total Drama Island: The First Showdown! The battle for the $100,000 has consummated and a winner has been crowned! Congratulations to Knifez and his character Zane for being the winner of my very first SYOC, and congratulations to xxPrincxssxx and her character Kylie for being runner up! While Kylie wasn't always my runner up, Zane was always my winner in every draft of this story, and I'm sure that regardless of who you were rooting for in the finale, the ending was a satisfactory one all the same!
I honestly just can't believe that I've almost managed to write this story from start to finish! When I first started work on this story in early to mid 2020, I didn't think I would get this far into the story and get so close to finishing it! I want to thank all of you for submitting characters to this story, leaving reviews and helping me with writing your characters wherever you could! Without you, this story wouldn't have been as successful as it was! Now all that's left for me to do is write the final Aftermath episode, and after that, we'll be writing a 3-part epilogue detailing the campers' stay at Playa Des Losers after Total Drama Island had concluded! I hope you'll be looking forward to it just as much as I do!
Time for some review questions!
#1: What did you think of the episode?
#2: What was your favorite part of the episode?
#3: Who do you think should have won?
#4: Do you have any questions for Kylie and Zane at the final Aftermath? Once again, you can also leave questions for Alexneushoorn and Blaineley, because they'll answer those too!
Thanks for reading, and see you next time on the final Aftermath! :D – Alexneushoorn
