Queen Aleena:*off-screen* The deepest fears are those which we will not admit, even to ourselves. But it admitting to them is the first step in overcoming them.
(Ayla's POV)
*Sonic was taking a nap, tossing & turning in his sleep from a nightmare*
Sonic: Sea monster . . . Water . . . I can't swim . . . I can't . . . Water . . . Can't swim . . .
*Manic & I went up to him*
Manic: Hey, bro. Wake up.
Ayla: You're having a nightmare.
*Manic shook Sonic until he woke up*
Sonic: Whoa. That was one nasty nautical nightmare.
*Sonia was driving the van*
Sonia: That's what you get for eating three chili dogs before you take a nap.
Sonic: You said it, sib. Takes at least four to make me sleep good.
Ayla: Or twelve.
*Sonia & Manic laughed at that*
Sonic: Very funny.
*Sonia was driving through a thick jungle*
Sonic: I dreamed I was fighting hand to tentacle with a sea monster. The one they call Moby Deep.
Ayla:*in her mind* Moby Deep? Wow. That's similar to that book I read once. "Moby Dick".
Manic: Can't believe you're afraid of Moby Deep. That's just an old wet story.
Sonic: Did I say I was afraid? Let me tell you something, bro. Nothing scares - What's that?
*We were now driving along a cliff, overlooking the ocean*
Sonia: That's the Mobian Sea.
Ayla: Which covers most of this world, same as mine.
Sonic: Hey. I knew that.
Sonia: We'll be in Port Mobius soon. I hope the message about meeting Mother there turns out to be true.
Manic: I hope so too, sis. But if it doesn't, we can still hit the beach for a swim.
Ayla: I just hope it's not another piece of false information from Robotnik.
Sonic: Swim? *he gulped* Wh - Why would we wanna do that?
*He jumped out the van & zoomed away*
Manic: Is he acting freaky or what?
Sonia: He does seem kinda zippy about something.
Ayla: Yeah. He's afraid of water and he's too stubborn to admit it.
Manic: How can you tell?
Ayla: He's just like my brother my home. He can't swim and because of it, he's afraid of water. Both of them are just way too egoistic, full of pride, and, stubborn to admit it.
Manic: Wow. How'd you guess that?
Ayla: Hey, I grew up with him. No one knows him better than I him.
*We soon arrived in Port Mobius. When we caught up with Sonic, it looked like he was on the run from something*
Sonic: What took you so long?
*We all poked our heads out the door*
Manic: Sonia wouldn't drive any faster.
Sonia: The wind messes up my hair.
Ayla: Sonia, your hair was protected by an invisible force field called "glass". It would have been fine to speed it up a little.
*Sonic jumped into the van & we rode down the street*
*We arrived at the docks*
Sonia: The message said we could find Queen Aleena at the Port Mobius docks.
Manic: Sounds like line to me.
*Just then, I saw a Swat-Bot in front of us*
Ayla: Sonia, look out!
*It fired it's lasers at us, but Sonia managed to dodge & drive away. Sonic summoned his guitar*
Sonic: Make tracks while I play this axe.
*He opened the van skylight & fired at laser at the Swat-Bot destroy it*
Sonia: Did you get him!?
Manic: Look out!
*Sonia drove us off the docks & on to what looked like a fancy showboat. The van went crashing into what looked like a theater, destroying everything in it's path. We all jumped out*
Sonic: You could have at least put us on the front row.
Ayla: Hey, at least we're alive.
?:*off-screen* Arrr! Welcome to the Queen Aleena.
*We saw a light yellow male sea sponge with black eyes, wearing a blue sea Captain's uniform coming down the aisle towards us, squishing & releasing water with every step*
Captain Squeegee: Arrr! I'm Captain Squeegee. Couldn't help hearin' all the lasers blastin' up in town. Ye wouldn't be makin' trouble and draggin' me into it, would ye?
Sonic: Sonic's the name and Resistance is our game.
Captain Squeegee: Well then. Glad you meet cha. I'm the head of the local Resistance. *he shook hands with Sonic* Fact is, I am the local Resistance.
*Sonic's glove was now wet from shaking his hand*
Ayla: Huh?
Sonia: So, this is the Queen Aleena we're supposed to meet? A showboat?
Manic: Looks like the show's over.
Captain Squeegee: We haven't had a show in ages. Not since everybody in Port Mobius went over to Robotnik's side.
Sonic: Why would anybody wanna be on Buttnik's side?
Captain Squeegee: Arr. They think Robotnik can protect them from Moby Deep.
*We all looked at each other*
Sonia: But Moby Deep is just an old legend.
Ayla: Well, the locals around here seem to believe it.
Captain Squeegee: Arr, right ye be, lassie. He's real all right. Maybe you're just the four hedgehogs that can help me catch him. That'll show everybody they don't need Robotnik's protection. *we went to his cabin & he started explaining the whole story to us* Arr. When Moby Deep started sinkin' ships, the whole town begged Robotnik for help. The only way to win them back, is for the Resistance to catch Moby Deep.
Sonic: We're here to fight Buttnik. Not sea monsters.
Sonia: Wait a Mobius minute. There's something fishy about this. What if Robotnik's sinking ships so the Port Mobians will be afraid and come to him for protection.
Ayla: Wouldn't put it past him.
Sonic: Good thinking, big sis and little sis. Now that that that's solved, I'm outta here!
*He tried to zoom away, but Manic stopped him*
Manic: Hey. I got an idea how we can prove it.
Sonic: Yeah, well will it take long?
*We went back to the theater & Manic hooked up his drums to a speaker, which was above a tank full of water*
Manic: You can tell the size of something underwater by bouncing sound waves off it.
Ayla: Like echo location.
Manic: Bingo. Check it out! *the microphone was lowered close to the tank* I lower the mic, send out some vibes, and listen to the echo. *he played a note on his drums & was sent Flying backwards from the loud echo* Like that.
Ayla: Great thinking, Manic!
Manic: Thanks, little sis.
Sonic: But how can we test it when there's nothing in the tank?
Manic: Dig it. Just jump in the tank and act like a sea monster.
Sonic: Go jump in a lake.
Ayla: Sonic! That's rude!
Manic: How about you, Sonia?
Sonia: And get my hair wet? Get real!
Ayla: Oh, for Pete's sake! I'll do it!
*I jumped into the tank*
(Third-Person POV)
*Sonia got a little splashed when Ayla jumped into the water*
Sonic: Towel?
Sonia: Thanks.
Captain Squeegee: Arr. That one's full of spunk, she is
Manic: You've got no idea, Captain.
(Ayla's POV)
*I poke my hand out of the water & gave a thumbs up. Manic then played his drums & I heard a loud booming sound & felt vibrations go through me. I then climbed out of the water, a little dizzy. Luckily, Sonia caught me before I fell over*
Ayla: Wow . . . What a boom. I think my ears are gonna be ringing for a while.
Sonia: Well, at least we know it works.
Manic: Now, we just take the boat out to sea, and see what's really out there. Moby Deep, or one of Buttnik's subs.
Sonic: As much as I'd like to go on this gourmet Cruise, count me out. Somebody's gotta keep an eye on Sleet and Dingo. Somebody fast.
*He zoomed away*
Sonia: You weren't kidding about him being afraid of water, Ayla.
Ayla: Told you.
Captain Squeegee: I've seen this kind of thing before. Even sailors get of water every now and then. Sonic can overcome his fear, if he has to.
Manic: You don't know my bro Sonic.
*We sailed the boat away from the Port & out to sea*
Manic: What if that Moby dude really is out there?
Sonia: Forget legends. We're after something a lot worse than Moby Deep. Buttnik.
Ayla: Believe me. Nothing could be worse than Buttnik.
(Third-Person POV)
*Sonic zoomed through the streets of Port Mobius. Just then, he saw something unusual around a corner*
Sonic: Hmm . . . Swat-Bots standing guard. But what are they guarding? *he ran behind them* Hey, Bot-Heads! *when they looked up, he snuck behind them & the door opened, allowing him to enter. he soon found something surprising* A submarine!
*Just then, Sleet entered the room with a Swat-Bot. Sonic quickly hid*
Sleet: Did you say something?
*A water buoy with Dingo's face came up to him in the water*
Dingo: Sleet! *panting* That old showboat, the Queen Aleena, just left the harbor. *Sleet turned him back to his original form & he struggled in the water* I can't swim!
Sleet: I've already suspected Captain Squeegee was in the Resistance. If he has Sonic, his siblings, and the Hero aboard, that will prove it. *Dingo climbed out of the water* Launch the submarine! It's time our Moby Deep claimed another victim.
*He, Dingo, & the Swat-Bot got in the submarine*
Sonic: He's gonna sink the Queen Aleena! I've gotta get on board that sub and stop him! *he was about to climb on board the sub, but it sank before he could* Whoa! Too wet! *he hid behind some barrels* What I got to do is warn Manic, Sonia, and Ayla! Good idea. *he zoomed out of hidden room & to the docks. he found a rowboat & tried rowing out to sea, but quickly turned back* That sea's full of water! I better signal Manic, Sonia, and Ayla! Yeah! Good idea! *he zoomed towards the lighthouse & up to the top* Wait a Sonic second. I need something to signal with! Maybe an umbrella! *he zoomed back to the bottom & then back to the top with an umbrella* Yeah. This should do the trick!
*He got in front of the light & started opening & closing the umbrella*
(Ayla's POV)
*We were pretty far out to sea when Sonic brought out the microphone, which was attached to a fishing pole*
Sonia: Now to lower the microphone.
*Manic & I then saw the lighthouse light blinking on & off*
Manic: That lighthouse must have short circuit.
Ayla: Maybe. But I have a feeling it's something else.
*Just then, we heard a creepy voice*
?:*off-screen* Manic . . . Sonia . . . Ayla . . . Manic . . . Sonia . . . Ayla . . .
Captain Squeegee: Must be a fog rollin' in.
*After we got the microphone in the water, Manic summoned his drums*
Manic: Now to see if this really works. *he played his drums & an echo came back to us* There's something big down there. *he played his drums again & the echo came back louder* It's getting closer and closer.
*He played a third time*
Sonia: Is it a submarine?
Ayla: Or a sea monster?
Manic: It sounds like -
Sonic:*off-screen* Hey, guys!
Sonia, Manic, & Ayla: Sonic!?
*He had come up to the boat on the back of a giant light gray sperm whale*
Sonic: Thanks, Deep dude.
Moby Deep: No biggie.
*It swam away*
Sonia: Is that Moby Deep? He's real?
Ayla:*in her mind* And he looks a lot like a character from a book a read once.
Sonic: In the flesh, sis. And a whole lot of him.
Sonia: Then it really was Moby Deep sinking ships.
Ayla: I don't think so, Sonia. Something tells me it wasn't him. He may be big, but he looked like a nice guy.
Sonic: Correctamundo, little sis. The Mo-Man don't play that game. *just then, something rammed into the ship* It's a sub made to look like a sea monster. That's what I came out here to tell ya.
Sonia: Thanks for the warning.
*The Captain came running out to the deck*
Captain Squeegee: We're takin' on water down below! Man the buckets! *he went back below & sucked up all the water* Man the bilge pumps!
*Sonic went below & I went after him*
Sonic: Pumps are for chumps.
*Using his speed, he quickly fixed the hole*
Ayla: Awesome job, bro!
*We went back up & Sonia summoned her keyboard*
Sonia: We could blast that sub, if it wasn't underwater.
Ayla: Maybe we still can.
Manic: Yeah. Maybe we could get a rise out of Sleet with music.
Sonic: Good idea, bro. Sleet and Dingo hate music.
Manic: We could use the old speakers in the theater to make a boss sound system. But to wire all that up would take -
Ayla: About a Sonic second.
Sonic: You got it, kiddo.
*Sonic get everything ready with his speed*
Manic: Yeah. About that.
Sonic: Let's jam before they ram.
*Sonic summoned his guitar & brought out a loudspeaker. I also summoned my microphone, just in case*
*Sonic singing*
You've got to face your fear to overcome it

*Moby Deep & Captain Squeegee dance along with the music*

*The submarine came up from the water & Sleet & Dingo came out*

Sonic: We jammed em, now blam em.
*We all hit then sub with a laser, destroying the submarine, & sending Sleet & Dingo flying into the water*
Dingo: What do we do now, Sleet?
*Sleet turned him into a fish & then climbed on to his back*
Sleet: Make like a fish, you fool and swim!
*Dingo began swimming back to shore. Just then, Moby Deep appeared behind them*
Moby Deep: Mmm, fish. Dinner time!
*Sleet screamed*
Sleet: Faster!
*He & Dingo swam away with Moby Deep on their tails. We all laughed*
Captain Squeegee: I guess everybody's afraid of something.
Sonic: Being afraid's no biggie. As long as you don't let it slow you down.
Ayla: And there are times when being scared can be fun. Like on Halloween.
*I got geared up to sing one of my own songs*
*Ayla singing*

Manic: Yeah. And maybe Sonic won't be so freaky about water.
Ayla: Here's hoping.
Captain Squeegee: It's a good thing ye came to Port Mobius when ye did.
*He left, leaving us all confused*
Manic: But he sent for us. Like, didn't he?
Sonic: If he didn't, then who did?
*We all looked at the sigh that said "Queen Aleena." I smiled*
Ayla:*in her mind* You're always thinking ahead, aren't you, Mom?
