I actually wasn't sure if I was going to have Mitsuki and Masaru ever interact in this story but as it progressed, it seemed more ideal, especially since despite the circumstances, everyone cares for Mitsuki, even people she recently just met, so I figured someone else supporting her made sense.

Will it be somewhat uncomfortable for the two of them? Probably, but that's the way it goes. With all of that said, let's continue. I hope that you'll enjoy the chapter.

Mitsuki looked at her watch before going back to twiddling her thumbs.

She had been doing this for about an hour since she arrived early at the small restaurant that she had agreed to meet Masaru at.

Mitsuki was seated at a table outside and from there, she waited.

Mitsuki nervously lifted up her glass and took a sip of her water.

The water went down wrong and she quickly put the glass back down on the table.

Mitsuki subtly coughed under her breath before holding her breath to avoid coughing loudly and embarrassing herself.

Unfortunately, she couldn't hold back for very long and proceeded to uncontrollably cough for about half a minute.

Mitsuki took another drink of water and then sighed to herself.

"Sorry." Mitsuki said, under her breath.

The woman sitting behind Mitsuki tapped on her shoulder to get her attention.

Mitsuki turned around, seeing a blonde woman wearing a blue dress sitting at the table behind her.

"Let me guess, are you nervous for your date?" The woman asked.

"Not exactly." Mitsuki said, with a nervous smile.

The woman reached her right arm over her chair and smiled.

"Ryuko, Ryuko Tsuchikawa." Ryuko said, introducing herself.

Mitsuki felt a little more at ease after she did that and shook her hand.

"That's funny, that's the second Ryuko I've met recently." Mitsuki thought.

"Mitsuki Bakugo." Mitsuki said, introducing herself.

"Bakugo… by any chance would there be any relation to Katsuki Bakugo?" Ryuko asked.

"Yeah, he's my son." Mitsuki said.

Ryuko placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I am so sorry." Ryuko said.

Mitsuki didn't know whether to laugh or be offended but considering her son's attitude, she let this one slide.

"I appreciate that." Mitsuki said, as she rolled her eyes.

"So, you still seem nervous but you said you're not here for a date, so what's up?" Ryuko asked.

"Do you always ask complete strangers questions about their lives?" Mitsuki asked.

"Only when it's entertaining." Ryuko joked.

Ryuko chucked to herself for second before addressing Mitsuki again.

"But in all seriousness, I'm just trying to ease some of the tension for both of us." Ryuko admitted.

"Both of us?" Mitsuki asked.

"Yeah, I'm trying to take your mind off of whatever is bothering you and take my mind off of this date my coworkers set me up on." Ryuko told her.

Mitsuki frowned slightly.

"So, that's her game." Mitsuki thought.

"If you must know… I'm meeting with my ex-husband." Mitsuki said, reluctantly.

Ryuko's eyes widened slightly before she slowly turned around to look at her table.

"Awkward." Ryuko thought.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have pestered you like that." Ryuko apologized.

"It's alright, you didn't know." Mitsuki said.

Later.

Another twenty minutes had gone by before she finally saw him approaching.

He had a blank expression on his face, giving her a sense of confidence.

"Maybe he's just as nervous as I am." Mitsuki thought.

Ryuko's date still hadn't shown up yet and as she turned around to see if he was nearby, she saw the expression on Mitsuki's face as a man was making his way towards her.

Ryuko leaned in and whispered to Mitsuki.

"If things start to go downhill, just say the word and I'll mess this guy up." Ryuko offered.

"Thank you but I don't think that'll be necessary." Mitsuki said.

"I'm just saying, I've got your back." Ryuko whispered.

Ryuko immediately leaned back and left to go to the bathroom as Masaru walked up to the table.

"Hi." Masaru said, as he nervously smiled and scratched the back of his head.

"Hi." Mitsuki greeted him.

Masaru sat down across from her, looking at her carefully.

"Where do I even start?" Masaru wondered.

"I called her but approaching this is hard, I tried to come up with something but aside from the obvious, I don't know how to go about this without it ending badly." Masaru thought.

"Maybe I should just state the obvious and let her do the talking." Masaru thought.

"How have you been since… I made my decision?" Masaru asked.

Mitsuki awkwardly rubbed her thumb against her glass as she held it in her hand.

"Well, it had to come up sooner or later." Mitsuki thought.

"I've been doing alright, I've been staying with a friend of mine." Mitsuki said.

"Nemuri, I'm sure that I mentioned her before, she's the one who has been letting me stay with her." Mitsuki told him.

Masaru nodded, remembering her.

"I've been trying to find some new work but nothing is really exciting me." Mitsuki said.

"Is that why you took that modeling job?" Masaru asked.

Mitsuki slightly glared at him when he brought that up but she knew that was part of the reason that they were meeting.

"No, that was just a spur of the moment decision." Mitsuki said.

From there, they seemed to get along just fine, granted there were a few moments of being uncomfortable but given the circumstances, that was to be expected.

However, Masaru asked a question that she hadn't been expecting.

"Are you seeing anyone?" Masaru asked.

Mitsuki was taken aback by this, surprised that he would even ask.

"No, not at the moment." Mitsuki told him.

"Are you?" Mitsuki asked, in curiosity.

"Not exactly." Masaru said, as he chuckled awkwardly.

"My friend set me up on a blind date with one of his friend's coworkers." Masaru told her.

Mitsuki's eyes widened in realization.

"I'm actually supposed to meet her here in a little while and I wanted to be honest with her and introduce you to her." Masaru told her.

As he said this, the blonde woman in question had returned and sat back down at her table.

"What's your date's name?" Mitsuki asked.

"Ryuko Tsuchikawa." Masaru answered.

Ryuko turned around to look at the man who had just said her name.

Ryuko gulped and nervously pointed at him as her hand shook.

"Are you Masaru?" Ryuko asked.

"Yes." Masaru answered.

Ryuko looked back and forth between Mitsuki and Masaru, realizing what had happened.

Ryuko stood up, left some money on the table and started walking away.

"I don't think that this is gonna work out." Ryuko said, as she nervously walked away from the two of them.

"Well, that just happened." Mitsuki said, quietly to herself.
