Gray Wing sat in a nest of reeds, watching River Ripple fish with his black-and-white friend, Night. The sun glittered off the river's surface. It had been almost a moon since they'd been chased from SkyClan. They had settled in with River Ripple and his friend for now.
Meanwhile, Skystar always paced the clearing anxiously. Sparrow Fur splashed in the shallows sometimes and occasionally tried to fish with Night helping her.
It may have been peaceful but they couldn't live the rest of their life like this. They needed to save their home. He was worried about Owl Eyes and Cloud Tail. Thunder and his littermates too.
He was scared for them all. But if they acted smart they would be okay.
Night dropped another fish on shore. "Look at how big this one is!" she exclaimed.
"Can I try to fish again?" Sparrow Fur raced over. Scars laced her pelt, especially her chest and stomach where One Eye had torn his claws at the most. If he had gone any deeper, she would be dead.
I should have known there was something up with him. Why would he attack a cat that was supposed to be his clanmate so viciously? She had only been correcting him.
"Okay, just don't fall in again," Night purred.
Falling Feather used to be like Sparrow Fur. Falling into the river as Dappled Pelt tried to teach her to fish.
Gray Wing pushed the pang of grief away and stood. He walked over to them. "I'm gonna go hunting."
"I'll come with you," Skystar responded. He obviously needed a distraction from troubled thoughts too, right now. They had a close bond like that where they always seemed to think the same way.
Gray Wing nodded and led his brother away.
But he couldn't focus right now, so he sat on the shore and watched the fish swim as the sun warmed his pelt.
If only I could feel as happy as this place seems.
"Follow me!" One Eye hissed to the cats.
"No! Follow me!" Fury snapped.
Thunder rolled his eyes. Days had passed since his father, uncle and cousin had left. He knew they were coming up with a plan. They wouldn't have just left them all to…this.
"So…we're attacking ThunderClan," Lightning Tail mewed beside him. Birch and Alder huddled behind the two toms, nervous, but excited.
Literally the whole Clan was here, including Fury's scary kittypet gang and One Eye's rogues. Of course, not Wind Runner and the kits and surprisingly, they'd let the medicine cats stay behind too to sort their 'foolish herbs' as they'd called it.
"Yeah," Thunder sighed. He looked at Raven Hope and Cinder Flower, both looking uncomfortable. "Hey," he said, moving to their side. "Just stay in the crowd of our allies and no one will see you."
"Well, I don't wanna attack my kin's Clan either," Cinder Flower muttered.
"Well, this can be payback for what they did to us!" Owl Eyes spat. He was looking more downcast that two of his siblings were unaccounted for. Gray Wing had convinced them, Pebble Heart was fine, but now Sparrow Fur was in hiding with them.
But we couldn't have kept her here with One Eye. He hates her now!
"Don't worry about it," Cloud Tail nudged his foster brother. "I've got your back." Owl Eyes smiled at him and rubbed his forehead against his appreciatively.
Ever since he'd been saved from the farm, Cloud Tail had started training more than ever. And Fire Heart had been making sure to take him out everyday for swimming, hunting or tree-climbing practice.
"Heh, these fools will have no idea what hit them!" A tortoiseshell kittypet named Scraps snickered.
"Ready? On my signal," Fury said.
"No, on my signal!" One Eye snapped.
"Ten seasons later…" Leaf grumbled nearby.
"Three…"
"Two…."
"GO!" One Eye raced down the ravine into their camp past the two guards, who stared in bewilderment.
"DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO COUNT?" Fury bellowed and raced after him. The rest of the army exchanged looks before following.
When Thunder burst into the camp it was filled with a mass of wrestling cats. He hesitated at the edge with Cinder Flower, but Raven Hope stuck by Fire Heart's side amongst their crowd.
One Eye had slammed Thistlestar against the Highrock and was scratching at his face viciously. His loyal minion, Tigerclaw raced over and pulled the ginger tom to the ground and, joined by Darkstripe, started beating him down.
Brick came to the rescue and grabbed Tigerclaw, slamming his head into the ground. When the deputy scrambled to his paws, shaking his head, he snarled, "a kittypet?"
"WE ARE NOT KITTYPETS!" Fury bolted over and knocked her paw across his face so hard he fell to the ground as if dead.
Thunder raced over. He was just unconscious. He could leave him. He turned and shoved Darkstripe, but when the black tabby whipped around, he ducked in between Beetle and Moss to hide. Darkstripe started cursing out the two rogues instead.
Thunder snickered before he felt guilty. This was so random! And he wanted to help ThunderClan not harm them! But no one's dead yet…so time for some revenge!
He grabbed Longtail's tail nearby and yanked him. He was sent tumbling into Swiftclaw.
He noticed Thorn struggling to get Thistlestar off of One Eye, but the big tom shrugged the mangy one off easily and Thorn fell to the ground stunned. When he tried to pull himself up again, Whitestorm appeared and grabbed his tail, dragging him away from his father.
"Get. OFF!" The brown tom hissed, swatting at Whitestorm, but he was out of reach.
Mud Paws came out of nowhere and slammed into Thistlestar bringing him to the ground and tearing at him.
"Thanks," One Eye panted as he struggled to his paws and raced to tackle another ThunderClan cat.
"As if I did it for you!" Mud Paws spat after him.
"Then why are you helping him?" Thistlestar spat up at the other big tom.
"I've never thought I'd meet someone as worse or even more worse than One Eye!" Mud Paws replied, shoving Thistlestar's face into the ground. Tigerclaw came and slammed him off his leader.
Thunder watched anxiously as Raven Hope, watched nervously before looking determined, came and slammed his paws down on Tigerclaw, knocking him out for good this time. Well, he hoped anyway.
"Thanks!" Mud Paws gasped, helping Raven Hope to his feet. The brown tom turned to tackle Graystripe, who had bit at his legs and another brown tabby came and slammed Raven Hope to the stone wall.
Thunder tensed as he recognized Dustpelt. And to his dismay, the tom recognized his brother too. "Ravenpaw?" He gasped and some cats turned their way.
Thunder raced over and knocked into Dustpelt, allowing Raven Hope to escape between two BloodClan warriors-as they called themselves-to hide.
Tigerclaw was close to getting trampled and Thunder was tempted to leave him there. Before he could decide, he noticed Thistlestar and One Eye back at it in the middle of the mass again.
"Who in the world are you?" Thistlestar spat.
"One Eye! I killed one of your warriors to warn you we'd come for you and now here we are!" He howled. "We do this in the name of S–"
Mistyfoot grabbed the ginger tom before he could finish with an angry screech and Thunder remembered Runningwind, who had been the victim, was her mate.
"Retreat!" Fury shouted and they all fled.
Thunder raced after Jagged Peak into the forest.
"Why did we leave? We were winning!" Ember spat.
"Our leader ordered us to attack then leave! Not stick around for longer!" Fury spat. "And this idiot," she glared at One Eye. "Nearly spoke his name! ThunderClan can't know until he's ready for them!"
Thunder leaned towards Quick Water. "Um, who's this 'he' they're talking about?"
"Beats me, but he must be powerful if we can't speak his name."
"Especially if he has a collar too." Air Leap rolled his eyes. "Now can we go home? This was all so random."
Fury and One Eye switched their glares from one another to Thunder's brown tabby brother and he tensed.
Fortunately, they just hissed and spat at each other once more before leading the way back home.
Welcome to the life of living rogue, Thunder told himself bitterly.
Gray Wing had decided to take a walk near the farm, crossing the edge of the moor. He needed some time alone. He hoped the rest of the Clan was okay.
We'll save you all soon…after Skystar comes up with a plan.
His brother still had no idea what to do and he still seemed lost at how things had easily escalated after returning from the Gathering that one night.
Soon dusk came upon them and he turned to head back. Sparrow Fur would worry for him.
At least I know Pebble Heart is safe too. He told me before he disappeared he might have a secret mission and be absent for a while. I trust him. And Tall Shadow is with him.
He froze when he noticed amber eyes, blinking at him from the tall grass before a dark gray she-cat emerged.
"Um…I'm not a threat," was all he managed to come up with to say.
The she-cat, who had been watching him warily for a moment, broke into a grin. "You don't look it."
Gray Wing mock-gasped in shock. "Hey, I can be a threat, so don't you anger me."
The she-cat rolled her eyes in amusement. "I'm Slate. Do you live around here too?"
"I'm Gray Wing….have you ever heard about the Clans?" She shook her head. "Well, if you want I can tell you everything, but I have to get back to my daughter right now."
Slate shrugged. "Okay. I'll come to hear about these Clans. It sounds like an interesting life."
Gray Wing smiled and led the way. Oh, is there ever a day where our lives are dull?
He led the way and the two newfound friends? raced across the moor as the sun went down.
I know the attack was kind of random, but I wrote it anyway because why not?
