Sinking Fast-Ch 22

Over the next few days Penelope adjusted to her new life, of course she had spoken to her best friend Marcie several times filling her in on what was happening in her life now. She had also promised to continue to keep her updated and Marcie had promised that her and Mark would come to see her again very soon, a promise that made both girls very happy.

Penelope had gone to the BAU with Derek so that she could get to know her new surroundings, she was taken to her new office or as she liked to call it, her lair, she loved it, it was amazing. She loved the computers that now lined her wall, she couldn't wait to get started on using those babies, she couldn't wait to help her team of crime fighting heroes and as far as she was concerned the sooner she got started the better.

Not long after that she got her chance to shine and shine she did and in record time, she was able to help B team with their latest case and she was able to not only help them catch the unsub but she was able to save his 10 victims. Derek and the others had taken her out for drinks that night and of course she loved spending time with her new family, they were so much fun and she had no doubts that she would love living with Derek and working with him and the others at the BAU.

Over the next several months things flew by fast for Penelope with her and the team being kept busy with case after case after case but Derek made sure that when he was home that he was spending as much time with his goddess as possible. They would go out to dinner and dancing, or to the movies and on weekends they would all get together at each others houses and have cookouts and movie nights.

She definitely loved her hew family and they loved her just as much, especially Jack, Henry, Clooney and Mudgie, now Mudgie was Dave and Fran's dog and from the first time he saw Penelope he too fell in love. Derek was so glad that not only was Penelope fitting in and loving it but that everybody loved her, now that he had spent the past several months with her he couldn't imagine his life without her in it.

Derek and Penelope had now been dating over 6 months and things were very serious and Derek had been wanting to propose to her more and more and just when he was getting ready to he and the others were sent out on a case. Derek blew out a deep breath and ran his hand over his head as they settled in on the jet for the return flight home from Texas, it had been another bad case but thanks to Penelope they were able to find the unsub and save 2 of his victims.

Dave walked to the back of the jet and sat across from his step-son and said, "what's on your mind tonight"?, Derek crossed his legs and said, "can't hide anything from you can I old man"?, Dave shook his head and said, "nope, profiler remember". Deek laughed and said, "and one of the best at that" and Dave said, "are things okay with you and kitten"?, Derek said, "oh yeah, things are amazing with us and as a matter of fact" as he reached into his bag and pulled out a little black box.

He opened it and Dave said, "wow, that's beautiful and I have no doubts that she won't love it", Derek said, "yeah me either" and Dave said, "so what's the problem"?, Derek said, "I have been trying to propose for several weeks now and every time I try we get called away on another case" and Dave nodded his head and said, "ahhhhhh, yes I see the problem".

Hotch walked back and said, "I couldn't help but overhear" and Derek looked up to see him along with the others standing there", Derek laughed and said, "you mean that you were intentionally listening in on our conversation"?, the team in unison said, "exactly" causing Derek to laugh again.

Emily said, "we love PG to Morgan and we want to help you out", Derek said, "help me out, how exactly"?, JJ sat down beside him and said, "we have a little plan that might just help you out". Derek said, "I'm listening" and as JJ started filling him in on their plan he sat there smiling the entire time and when she was finished he said, "I love it but the question is can we pull it off"?, Reid laughed and said, "uhhh hello have you met us, of course we can pull it off".

Derek smiled and said, "thanks guys I appreciate it, I really do but" and Dave said, "no buts son, we're a family and that's what family do, they help each other" and Derek grinned and nodded his head yes in agreement. He sighed happily and said, "sooooooo when can we do this little plan of yours"?, Hotch said, "since we are on downtime for the next week, how about we do it Friday night"?, Derek said, "I like it, I like it" and then for the rest of the flight they went over their plan step by step.

As the jet was getting ready to land Derek couldn't help but smile knowing that soon, very soon he was going to be able to propose to the best thing that had happened in his life, his baby girl, his goddess, his Penelope.
