Ch.20: Movies with David

It was that next afternoon that I made the way to the movie store. Showers had come in that morning, trapping Pinkie and I inside the house. As Igneous and Cloudy were working, and Maud was asleep, Marble and Pinkie played on Pinkie's Nintendo Wii, as I watched. My dreams had been pleasant the previous night, as they always were when I dreamed of home.

Anyways, at around one, the skies had cleared to reveal a sweet rainbow. Pinkie giggled.

"Go for the pot of gold, David!" she encouraged, as Marble played along. I rolled my eyes in amusement as I slipped on my sandals.

I would not know about it for a time, but this visit would bring an offer.

Capiche?

I smiled as I stepped into the store, its beautifully designed blue walls and shelves greeting me. Behind the counter was an older lady in her fifties, white golden-brown hair. Her badge indicated her name was Filmmaker, and she was the manager.

Her eyes turned to me, but before she could greet me, I saw Sunset Shimmer walking over, breaking down a box, wearing an employee badge. So, this was where Sunset worked.

I smirked. "I thought it would be a video game store" I commented.

"Huh?" Sunset went, before seeing me. She gave a blush. "Well, we do sell some video games, but Rainbow Dash convinced me to work here. We get movie discounts" she explained.

"So, this is David" Filmmaker nodded. I smiled. "Nice to meet you Miss."

"Call me Filmmaker" she said, Sunset bringing the box out to the recycling bin in the back. "If you need any help, just holler" she said.

I nodded and made my way through the store. The store had all kinds of movies, including one of my favorites in Uncle Buck.

"Excuse me" I heard behind me, turning to see a man in his thirties that looked like a factory worker- weary, but healthy. "Could you help me out? Me and my daughter are looking for a good movie with a spiritual message to watch together. Got any ideas?"

I nodded immediately. "Life of Pi. It's an amazing movie."

The man smiled and got what I had suggested as Sunset had just come in. She and the manager had exchanged a look.

Maybe I would be a good worker. After all, my UBI did not exclude me from working.

The next summer would find out if this was true.

On August 27th came a great day- with the mall becoming the harbinger.
