Sinking Fast-Ch 27
The next morning Penelope woke up smiling as she felt the loving arms of the man she loved wrapped around her, that smile soon fell as a wave of nausea rolled over her, she quickly covered her mouth and ran from the room. Not wanting to wake Derek up she decided on going to a bathroom down the the hall, now what she had forgotten was that Marcie and Mark had stayed the night with her and Derek a fact that she remembered when she bumped into Marcie in the hallway.
Marcie stepped aside when she saw her pale friend in the hall, she then turned and followed her to the nearest bathroom, she watched as Penelope dropped to her knees in front of the toilet. She then watched helplessly as her friend then emptied the contents of of stomach into the toilet, Maria then reached and got a cloth from the cabinet and wet it with cool water, she then handed it to Penelope as she looked up.
Penelope wiped her mouth and said, "thank you" and Marcie got down on the floor beside her best friend and said, "are you alright sweetie, what happened"?, Penelope said, "I was fine, I woke up and everything was fine and then in a split second I was hit with a wave of nausea like you wouldn't believe and then bam I had to get to the nearest bathroom".
Marcie said, "don't you have a bathroom in your bedroom"?, Penelope nodded her head and said, "we do, but I didn't want to wake up Derek so I decided to come to this one and then I bumped into you, sorry about that by the way". Marcie said, "no harm no fowl my friend, no harm no fowl" as she sat there on the floor beside her still nauseated friend and after about a minute Marcie said, "was it something you ate that bothered your stomach"?, Penelope said, "I don't know, it's highly possible I guess".
A thought popped into Marcies mind and she said, "honey when was your last period"?, Penelope said, "hmmmm, almost 2 months ago I thi" and then Penelope looked at Marcie and said, "do you think that I'm pregnant"?, Marcie smiled and said, "I do girlie, I truly do" and Penelope's hand slid automatically down to her stomach, she looked up at Marcie and smiled, then Marcie said, "how about I sent Mark to the pharmacy to get you a test and then hopefully we'll know one way or another before Derek wakes up"?, Penelope bit down on her bottom lip and nodded her head yes.
Marcie left her friend momentarily to go ask her husband to go to the pharmacy up the street and grab a pregnancy test, Mark happily agreed and slipped quietly out of the house as to not wake up a sleeping groom-to-be. It was about 15 minutes later Marcie walked back into the bathroom with the pregnancy test in her hands, she then handed it to Penelope and said, "just follow the directions okay sweetie"?, Penelope nodded her head yes.
Marcie started to step out to give her some privacy but Penelope's hand wrapped around hers and she said, "please don't go, please stay with me", Marcie smiled and said, "sure thing" as she sat on the side of the bathtub while Penelope did her thing and followed the directions on the back of the box.
The two women sat side by side and Marcie said, "so are we hoping for a positive or a negative"?, Penelope said, "positive, definitely positive but wait, Derek and I never talked about starting a family this fast". Marcie put her hand on Penelope's to stop her babbling and said, "if you are pregnant he is going to be thrilled, trust me on that" and Penelope said, "well I guess it's time to see what the results are".
Mark had gotten her a test that tells not only positive or negative but if you are pregnant about how far along you are and Penelope intertwined fingers with Marcie as they made their way over to the counter. She blew out a deep breath and opened her eyes that she hadn't realized she had closed, she then picked up the test in her free hand and slowly raised it up to see what the results indeed were.
Marcie smiled and Penelope squealed, she quickly covered her mouth and said, "POSITIVE, IT'S POSITIVE, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BABY, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BABY". The results read "POSITIVE 5 WEEKS PREGNANT" and Penelope realized that she must have gotten pregnant on her first night with the love of her life, she smiled and turned to face Marcie who wasted no time in congratulating her best friend with a hug
The two separated as they heard a knock on the bathroom door, they turned to hear Derek's voice saying, "baby girl are you alright, I heard you squeal", when he didn't get an answer he knocked again. Marcie said, "go, go tell him, go give him the good news", she grinned and nodded her head yes as she turned and headed to the door.
When the door opened she threw her arms around her husband-to-be and said, "congratulations daddy", Derek said, "wait, did you just say congratulations daddy'?, she handed him the test and said, "I did". Derek looked up at her and smiled, he said, "really, we're having a baby"?, she said, "we are" and he said, "that's amazing news", he then picked her up and started twirling her around.
Marcie and Mark stood watching with smiles on their faces and when he put her down Mark and Marcie said in unison "congratulations" and then enveloped their friends in a hug of congratulations as they celebrated the news that Derek and Penelope were not only going to be getting married today but that they too would soon be parents.
